Title: If you can get paid through cryptocurrency, do you still choose fiat currency?

Bitwage is a platform that converts wages into cryptocurrency. Bitwage founder Jonathan Chester said: “A lot of people now want to earn part or all of their wages through Bitcoin.” The company has made contributions in the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia this year. 20,000 employees. Some users processed $30 million in salaries, including employees from Google, Facebook, General Electric, Philips, the United Nations, and the U.S. Navy. Many of these employees have signed up for this service themselves.

Chester stated that he converts 15% of his monthly salary into virtual currency, which is "a way to not worry about whether to buy or accumulate bitcoin or cryptocurrency at the right time."

Many companies are also considering allowing their employees to choose to receive partial or full compensation in the form of cryptocurrency. If you can get paid through cryptocurrency, which one would you choose? If the boss pays in Bitcoin, would you want it? Or you continue to prefer to pay in fiat currency to facilitate the purchase of tokens you like.
Do you think cryptocurrency payment will be a new trend in the future?

~ If you can get paid through cryptocurrency, which one would you choose?
I would probably prefer to be paid in fiat in full because I'm already familiar with how to trade/convert to crypto at anytime. I mean I can buy more BTC if I do it on my own rather than through a payment processor that takes a higher service fee than my usual exchange.

I think something similar. I might accept a small portion in Bitcoin, though. Fiat is for spending, Bitcoin is for saving. I wouldn't want to get it all in Bitcoin and have to convert it to fiat for spending. I would prefer my spending money to be paid in fiat.

It depends, I can decide to get paid in BTC if the market is in good condition for example if we are in bull season and I will still hold the BTC for probably more gains but not in bear market where volatility is at huge play, I prefer swapping my coins for USDT most times for saving instead of swapping to fiat

I will choose to accept some cryptocurrencies. Although you can bring you extra high benefits by holding cryptocurrency, its price is unstable and market fluctuations will bring certain risks. When the price of Bitcoin falls, you have to bear the loss. Holding part of the legal currency can not only ensure stable funds, but also can be used for daily consumption. So hold part of Bitcoin and legal currency can reduce the high-risk loss of full investment and can also benefit from investing in Bitcoin.

I could like to get paid in crypto, however I think its still too early now which made it became impractical, like its not as easy to spend it as cash. Someday when we able to grocery with crypto (with no fiat number involved at all) then thats the time. I cant wait for the day able to travel with just btc.
For now split will be the best choice. Fiat use for living, then all the rest will be investment / reserve for future.

I still choose fiat currency to pay my salary because I can buy the cryptocurrency I want to buy. If possible, I can explain to my boss in advance which cryptocurrency to use to pay my monthly salary, and then I may choose cryptocurrency, and the price of cryptocurrency is not very stable. But  can choose Bitcoin conservatively.

If I have to choose a cryptocurrency, I might want a stablecoin. If I choose one of the two, I will choose fiat currency to get paid, and then spend it on anything I want, including the tokens I want to invest. Because I can't put all my wages into the market, I will have other expenses.

Getting paid fully in Bitcoin makes it harder for people to spend that crypto for paying their bills and purchasing food every day, unless they are using some debit card connected with their wallet.
Some people probably choose to have smaller percentage paid in Bitcoin and rest paid in fiat, but I am hearing that people in El Salvador are still choosing to trust dollar instead of Bitcoin.
If I had to choose how to receive my payment I would go as high as possible for Bitcoin payment but I would still keep smaller percent fiat payment preferably in cash.

Here's the consideration though, if majority of retailers and shops that I shop with accepts or has an integrated system for crypto payments, I would probably choose to be paid through cryptocurrencies but if not then I just have to make do and choose fiat as payment. Of course there are ways to convert crypto but I don't need to add that because in my opinion it adds another degree of complexity since it's another story.

My answer will be simple. I will choose to get paid with something I could spend with minimum actions required. So far this is fiat. With crypto, I first need to exchange it to Bitcoin or an altcoin, that on next stage I could convert into fiat.

Lets suppose I live in Poland. I could be paid in Polish Zloty and immediately use them. Or I could get paid with, lets say Tron. Then I first need to exchange Tron to BTC, BTC to USD, and USD to Polish Zloty. And with each stage of exchange I lose a bit on a rate.

Cryptocurrency is still complicated as a payment for countries that dont use USD, EUR, RUR or other popular currencies.

Fiat. Adoption of Bitcoin is quite bad right now, there isn't really any advantage in accepting salaries through it. Just the fact that majority of the stores you would be visiting to buy some necessary stuff is enough of a reason to accept Fiat instead of Bitcoin. If shops accepted Crypto, and not just high end or e-commerce ones, but the ones that can pretty much be reached by just walking to the store opposite of your house or so, then hell I might consider it, only till consideration though. Not really a guarantee since there's still various stuff to think of about it, and heck, it's not like getting Bitcoin by yourselves is an impossible feat.

I choose to make my employer happy and follow his preference, if he insist paying in crypto, I'm fine. If he prefers fiat, I'm fine too. Nowadays, converting crypto to fiat (and vice versa) is easy, no big deal.

However, if I can pick one is good for me atm, I think crypto since I gamble a lot because of stupid lockdown. In normal condition, I'd pick fiat since it's easier to spend.

I don't mind getting rewarded with things that are safe and valuable. I actually prefer having substantial part of my rewards going to Bitcoin, due mainly to the nature of my works and my understanding of the importance of technology/currency like Bitcoin.
So the intention should be right and people have to make sure they use it the right way

Some companies, or platforms, allow you to customize it. I think there is no need to be so rigid about it either. For example, I can set 20% in fiat while the rest in crypto, and vice versa. My friend can set their own allocation and so on. That would be awesome, but for companies, it might be a bit troublesome. But hey, at least you have the options.

But what if it's a mandatory though? Will accept it? For me, I might have some problem with that since I have to be able to use those salary to pay for my rent and it's not that easy to convert crypto to fiat which might be a problem for some people since time is of the essence. Maybe if the speed of conversion or if there are more people that are using it, I would probably totally accept it.

Like the others have said, it's more reasonable to take a certain amount in crypto - but not all.

At this point you may as well just convert the fiat yourself into crypto. However I think doing something like offering to pay half of bonuses in crypto might be considered after a while for some companies (potentially if their local fiat isn't too stable).

In 2019, the New Zealand Revenue Agency issued an announcement stating that the receipt of cryptocurrency wages is legal and taxed accordingly. The new regulations will come into effect on September 1st, and New Zealand will become the first country in the world to legalize the payment of wages in cryptocurrencies. Many crypto enthusiasts believe that this is the country's official recognition of the cryptocurrency system, and it is also an important step in the maturity of cryptocurrency as an asset class, which will enter the daily payment field of the people.

In fact, many countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Australia have already introduced cryptocurrency tax policies one after another.

The earliest origin of cryptocurrency as a salary payment can be traced back to Parissa Ahmadi, an Afghan girl who is a blogger, loves movies, and often publishes her opinions online. Since the Afghan girl did not have the right to have a bank account at the time, the income could only be transferred to the father's account. Fortunately, after her film company (Film Annex) learned about the dilemma faced by Parissa Ahmadi, the founder of the company chose to use Bitcoin to pay her salary.

In addition to girls in Afghanistan, dancers from Las Vegas strip clubs were also the first to accept Bitcoin as a salary.

Therefore, accepting Bitcoin as a salary is still in its infancy, just as there are still relatively few scenarios in the field of payment. But if my boss pays me salary in Bitcoin at the current price of Bitcoin, I will be very happy. I value the amount of bitcoins I hold more.

Not all regular stores accepts cryptocurrency, even those big stores aren't doing so. If I were paid in cryptocurrency, I'd exchange it to fiat due to this reasoning specially that my country isn't into crypto as of the moment. It would cause me hardship if I don't exchange it.

There may be people who will prefer to receive Bitcoin like myself. An article posted here a few days ago in which people working in the government of El Salvador are not happy receiving Bitcoin as their wage fee.

The name of the Bitwage platform speaks for itself. I've not read anything about it but if they plan to be used widely, I think they better have an exchange inside for which users could immediately trade their BTC to stablecoin or the local currency.

Look around you, how many stores in your country are willing to accept crypto as means of payment? They aren't many right? So even if you have 100BTC right now you will need to change those to Fiat to start spending, only very few stores around the world are accepting crypto as means of payment today

Does it really matter? In the end even if you get paid in crypto, they will pay you a fixed dollar amount. You are still getting dollars in the form of crypto. Since the dollar is much more adopted than crypto, if you are not going to hold what you receive, then it makes more sense to get your payments in FIAT because otherwise you'll lose some bits when you convert from crypto to FIAT.

This is base on personal choice especially if one need to settle house bills and other miscellaneous expenses that will not require cryptocurrency as a means of payment. For me, I see cryptocurrency mostly as an investment that is need to kept till when it's needed. Paying salary in Bitcoin is a good innovation but it as is own lapses due to the volatility of Bitcoin which can be risky especially when the price falls immediately one salary is paid. Then waiting for the price to come before selling it.

If my salary is paid in bitcoin, I will rather sell it immediately if money is need to pay bills then later buy my own amount of Bitcoin I prefer to keep. I can also trade it to get some profits if the market is stable enough to make good profit.

if you get a btc it doesnt mean that you cant get a token anymore but actually its now easy to buy a token when you already have your btc because you will only convert it than if you only have a fiat in your pocket tho you can get more btc if you will manually buy it at the dip using your fiat than it will be given to you automatically  .
aside from btc they could offer other cryptos and stable coins for existing and advanced crypto users

We all know that only a few stores accept bitcoin, so I don't think it's worth it to keep it and use it as a payment method in a physical store. Most of us are converting the coin into our own fiat currency in order to use it anywhere; however, it is currently very difficult to use this as a payment method unless you are paying someone with bitcoin, which is the intended use. However, if this is the future fiat, it will be very nice, but for now, it is still difficult.

I can only speak for myself mate. Yes, making employer happy means I'll take both, no problem (indifferent).
Since my situation can differ from yours or anyone else, it's best to leave it to individual, or in other words employees get to choose what's their preferred payment method. In case there is no good crypto market in where you live, you should take fiat.

Bitcoin hasn't been fully accepted by majority of the merchants, service providers, and other payments.
So, I guess receiving Bitcoin as a salary might not be suitable for everyone.
For the people like us who are into Cryptocurrency, we can consider receiving partial payments, but that all depends on the current Btc price.
Besides, we all have bills to pay in a monthly basis. So, fiat still holds the responsibility for paying all of them.

Some months salary will be low and some months will be high if we accept everything to be paid in crypto and bitcoin while utilities, rent and tools costs remain unchanged, such wages cannot fit the lifestyles of many people whose wages are barely enough for these activities, a little more can make them comfortable but a little less, can't figure out what to do next. Fiat gives them more peace of mind for this payment, the amount of money spent on needs will not fluctuate so quickly.

If fiat is still used for the payment in the local stores, I still prefer to get paid through fiat money to manage the money for my daily needs and crypto investment. But if my boss wants to pay me in bitcoin and I do not have a choice to refuse, I can only accept it, but I will directly sell some amount to cover my bills. The thing about all of this is we still use fiat money in our daily life or we use crypto to pay anything in our daily life. If our government still uses fiat but our boss wants to pay with crypto, they need to report it to the government and I doubt that the government will easily accept it because they can not regulate it.

I don't think it makes any sense, I would rather just pay normally and then buy any cryptocurrency I want and how much I want. Instead of paying only a certain amount of cryptocurrency according to my contract. But I am also not opposed to paying in cryptocurrency.

I dare to accept that IF cryptocurrencies are already accepted in many establishment for payment coz if not, that makes no sense and still we need to convert it to fiat money. If so, I was preferred to have fiat payment instead. I consider such changes in the future but for now, still not a good idea.

For about 13 years of Bitcoin existence, that word becoming as currency is still far from reality. Well, I could say that some are using this but just only a few numbers while the majority are considering this as a pure investment.

If it is indeed required to pay using crypto and the fiat currency cannot be used anymore, we must do so on the grounds that the fiat currency is completely removed and replaced with crypto as any payment and is available in all shops and any sale.
but if it happens it will feel strange like going back to the beginning and it will take a long time for everyone from all walks of life to understand how to use it or transactions using crypto and it is available on all papaun sales and ATMs this crypto is also available and like fiat currency everything is available.

and but I don't think it will fully happen and even if crypto is legalized both will go hand in hand which can be used as a means of payment, and if both are still available I will use both.

If I can get paid through cryptocurrency, I would prefer to accept cryptocurrency. The price of cryptocurrency is not fixed. At the beginning, I can store a small amount of cryptocurrency. When the price drops, I will increase the cryptocurrency and store it in my wallet, which may gain more benefits in the long run. But there are not many shops in my country that accept Bitcoin as payment, so I have to keep a small part of the legal currency for daily needs.

Agreed. Having Cryptocurrency in your wallet may save you a lot of your hard earned income in the long run as long as you hold some of it and not convert it all to fiat. A small part of your income should go to savings and some part of it should go to your needs.

But what if the choices where to entirely have crypto as a salary and no other exceptions or reservations or just stay with fiat. What would it be for you because you seem indecisive with your decision to have it all on fiat and then just buy back crypto on your own. For me, if the number is fixed, I think I can get by with having a crypto salary but I would get in trouble with using it for buying daily necessities like food, beverage and hygiene products plus, would it also include my insurance that's paid by my employer?

If I wanted to get paid in crypto to be honest, I would prefer USDT. Doesn’t matter if it’s TRC20, ERC20, BSC, OMNI, etc., as long it’s a stablecoin because Bitcoin and other ones are subject to volatility plus the fees per transaction. As USDT is pegged to the USD along with BUSD, USDC, DAI, etc., I wouldn’t have a problem with that. In my current work, I am paid in USDT.

First of all, if pointing out my salary outside crypto, it's being used as my primary income to cover all my expenses, starting from monthly bills to miscellaneous, extras, etc. Receiving it thru fiat will ensure that I can deploy it right away to where it should be used. No need to convert for fiat or wait for the price up just to take advantage of the volatility because on the other hand, what if it goes down more?

Now with my crypto-related or freelance works, I really don't have any issues if I will be paid in fiat or crypto as long as the price is right. What matters is, I have extra work alongside my dayjob.

Its not about facilitating buy other tokens its about living in the real world, the real world imposes on us to use fiat to buy things to do the day to day transactions whether its food or other stuff, and because of the you can't chose to be paid in crypto unless you have other sources of fiat that you can really on, the current state of bitcoin and crypto in general is not in favor of having the average person that gets paid once a month to have all his money and all his worth in crypto.

I am actually paid in both, but most of my income is fiat. It is not much of a problem to convert if I need to do so and, being honest, real world prices in fiat tend to be more stable and predictable, at least in the short term. You could argue that you could also convert from crypto to fiat, but it is a question of covering your expenses in the currency these are indexed to. It would make the same sense to get paid in Yens when you live in France. Inevitably, you would face variations in your budget.

I think instead of receiving full payment in bitcoin, I might receive partial payment in bitcoin and receive the other half in fiat. For me, I think I think it a good investment strategy that would afford me to save in cryptocurrency while still having fiat to cater for day to day needs.
I'd have gone for full cryptocurrency compensation but that would require me to convert it back to fiat. This would not be needed if there are enough merchants that accept cryptocurrencies especially for everyday goods and services.

It really depends on a lot of things. If you are an active trader and use trading platform that has debit/credit card available in your country with good benefits and terms (like Binance Visa Card with low ATM fees and good cashback), then without a doubt it's better to choose the payment in bitcoin. But if you are a person with no interest in bitcoin or cryptocurrencies, then I see no idea why to choose it over fiat. At least we all buy things in USD or pay the USD equivalent amount in Bitcoins.

Since I trade and Binance card is available where I am right now, I would prefer crypto payments.

Do you think cryptocurrency payment will be a new trend in the future?
Who knows, cryptocurrencies are still unpredictable. They may be the option but not the way they are represented right now. I hugely doubt that governments will let decentralized cryptocurrencies to become a trend.

In my life, I use fiat currency to buy goods and services, and in my region it is unlikely that in the near future they will accept BTC for payment, for example, in stores. However, to earn money, I chose a job where they already pay with cryptocurrency. I think that this type of salary is pretty good, because if you receive a salary, for example, in BTC, that is, it is unlikely to just keep BTC and end up getting even more money. Personally, I choose to receive my salary in cryptocurrency.

I would like to take bitcoin as my salary if I am going to a job but actually I am not a person who is interested in earning salary, I am always trying to deal with profits and loss because that is how we can grt the financial stability and one thing the salary is a slave trap which is not going to increase your life style.

Bitcoin is volatile, so, I would still choose to receive my salary through fiat currency so that I can decide if how much I just want to buy bitcoin if ever. Also, bitcoin is not yet fully accepted as payment method directly in many stores and companies. So, it is still good to have a salary in fiat currency because I can use it easily, no need conversion like in bitcoin.

You know what grinds my gears about capitalists? This dude created something that is basically a way to make your salary into crypto, you literally turn your salary into bitcoins thanks to something he founded and his company. What does he keep on saying afterwards? He turns 15% of his salary into crypto. I do not mind, there are billions that do not get any crypto at all, there are still billions that never owned a single satoshi, not even from a faucet, so it is understandable if you just want fiat, there is nothing wrong with that.

However if you are founder of a company that turns salaries into crypto and still end up not turning your salary into crypto that is basically proof that capitalists would do anything to make money, even things that they themselves would not want to use, it is like saying you manufacture guns but never owned one.

If my company gave me the option to start being paid out in cryptocurrency, unless it was bitconnect then I would opt for fiat money.  Just Kidding, but on a serious note, I would likely accept maybe ten to fifteen percent of my salary paid out in bitcoin.  Unfortunately at the moment I just have too many bill that have to be paid but can't be paid in bitcoin, otherwise I would take a higher percentage.

I used to work remotely at a crypto company ( defi exchange ) . and they still pay flat . and for a bonus they also give in the form of crypto. I think the mix between flat and crypto is the best choice. and this depends on the type of payment for what and from what. but if they want pay their worker to be fully crypto / flat or mixed I can still accept and be happy with it but not everyone have the same thoughts as me about paying with crypto. because there are other things such as transaction fees that are still high which is another consideration.

For me, maybe i will prefer 30% from bitcoin and 70% from fiat. I have to buy most of my basic needs in fiat so i should never ran out of cash. With my little portion in bitcoin, it will serve as my investment so that i will have more chances to earn more too when bitcoin price starts to surge again with its new ATH.

But when time comes that bitcoin will be already accepted worldwide, then i will be very glad to accept all my salaries paid in bitcoin. I will have no worries by that time because bitcoin's volatility might not be an issue by then.

I would probably prefer to be paid in fiat in full because I'm already familiar with how to trade/convert to crypto at anytime. I mean I can buy more BTC if I do it on my own rather than through a payment processor that takes a higher service fee than my usual exchange.

I would do the same. Because if you will let the company buy btc on behalf of you, there will be charges from somewhere and you may end up receiving btc which is not the rate of the current market. So I'll just prefer to be paid in fiat and I will do my own trading of crypto. Maybe, this will be convenient, receiving btc directly for those new crypto users. So they don't to worry about the trading part. However, along the way, they will also learn once they received btc because that's the only way to understand this market, make your own trade.

I wouldn't favor if all of the salary was paid in Bitcoin, as due to volatility and high fees that's not always a good option. However, a choice would be nice. For instance, I wouldn't mind receiving something around 10-15% of the salary, like in Chester's case, in cryptocurrency, that wouldn't be too critical, but, at the same time, could be very convenient.

However, I don't think it's something people would be interested in countries with good economy and life quality, because buying crypto there isn't a problem and something affordable for every person. On the other hand, this could be a life saver for people in countries with high inflation rate, like Venezuela. The only problem is that in such countries the government would most likely prohibit such forms of payments.

It depends on whether crypto is legal or not for the government I guess, if it is more well-accepted, it can certainly happen. But it does not rule out the possibility that it will definitely happen in the future, yes I think bitcoin can be a payment medium, it's just that maybe it will be more stable on the price movement in the future, if in general bitcoin had been used as payment.

I will still choose to be paid in cryptocurrency. Right now, we have local wallets that can already convert cryptocurrency into fiat money and their are already online stores that are accepting crypto payments, if not crypto payments online fiat transactions are already popular in our country.

With this situation that our country is still in a state of pandemic, digital transactions are more convenience and useful.

If the employer uses Bitcoin as a reward, I would be happy to see such a thing, and I am willing to accept it.
But if it is other value currency, I might choose half of the encrypted currency and half of the legal currency, and the half of the legal currency is because it is more convenient to use legal currency in daily life.
In the future, I think the use of cryptocurrency should be a very daily thing, because now some countries have frequently used cryptocurrency for transaction payment, and it is very convenient and fast to use cryptocurrency to pay.

Crypto is the process and the main goal, also for fiat money, choosing crypto and fiat as a guarantee for employee salaries, for me it's the same, if you accept fiat you can buy crypto and vice versa.

What is clear if you receive a salary with crypto / Bitcoin a few cents of your Bitcoin can be lost when you sell / discount gas, if you receive your fiat cash intact there is no deduction, if I personally prefer fiat for my salary over Bitcoin.
If you accept payment of salary with Bitcoin, it doesn't take into account other risks, misdelivery, hack etc.

In the ideal situation, I would like to get paid 50% in crypto and the other 50% in Fiat currency. Reason is because I need cash to pay for the necessities that I need in my daily life.
Paying for food, rent, and other essentials. With my other 50% of crypto, I would begin to start storing away my wealth, so that in the future I'm able to secure financial freedom.

Same here. I need to pay for my rent in physical cash. So in case I receive the amount in cryptocurrency, then I need to convert it to fiat cash and then go to an ATM to withdraw it. But nowadays it is easy to use cryptocurrency to pay for utility bills and shopping. Even in supermarkets, it is possible to pay using cryptocurrency, although in an indirect manner. First you need to convert your coins to gift cards, and then use these gift cards to make payments for supermarkets, electricity bills, online food delivery.etc.

I prefer to accept Bitcoin, and I can earn more profits by holding cryptocurrency. But in the area where I live, Bitcoin is not yet accepted, and I have to accept some fiat currencies.
Now I will choose to hold half of the cryptocurrency and half of the legal currency. Fiat currency is used to make daily payments to meet the needs of life. Part of the bitcoin invested can also obtain additional benefits as the price rises, reducing the risk of loss when the price falls.

If the certain company I am working with has the ability to pay me in cryptocurrency, I would still like it to be in fiat. Don't get me wrong, I know that bitcoin has already withstood the test of time, hence, I am confident in bitcoin's potential. However, being compensated in cryptocurrency form has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, your salary is $500 every 15 days and the bitcoin's price is at its peak value then, your company will buy 500 dollars worth of bitcoin in its high position - a lesser amount of bitcoin for you. But if you'll opt to receive fiat instead, you can keep all the 500 dollars to yourself and wait for the dip of bitcoin's price. That way you can buy more bitcoin with the money you have at hand.

You see, there will be discrepancies in wages paid by the company based on the price of the coin you will pick as your compensation. You can either benefit from it or be at the losing end. It just depends on the status of the market - bearish or bullish. That is why I still prefer to be paid in physical money then I will be the one to determine how much and when should I invest it.

Cryptocurrency payment would definitely be one of the new trends in the future. Right now, there are already several countries and establishments that are accepting cryptocurrencies as payment for transactions. In no time, many brands and countries will adopt the movement too. It will be nicer because people will have more choices and options to pick from.

I do get paid in crypto and I rather not get paid in fiat, doesn't make sense to me. Don't get me wrong, if I lost my job because of something (and I hope to continue to do this for decades) then I may end up with a job where I am getting paid in fiat, that is understandable and that's fine, I am not "against" working for fiat, after all it is just one click, you can turn your crypto to fiat or vice versa very easily in this day and age so it is not really a big deal.

However working for crypto has a different situation, it means most probably you are at home doing something a lot higher tech then anyone you know, and that is why I prefer this world a lot more. I am trying to find a niche that I can carve a space for myself in the future, not going to do it now, I tried twice already in my life and one of them was great and made money for a whole year, the other was recent and I lost all my savings but it is fine, that is how you take risks and one day I hope that it will work out.

If they choose to pay me in Cryptocurrency or fiat, I will never accept fiat but if I must choose crypto, it must meet my requirements.
  • It must be during bear market, so that I can hold them, if they are paid in crypto at all time high, there is likely high chance of loosing much value.
  • If the above options isn't favorable, I will go with USDT because holding is also an hedge against inflation in my darling country who keep devaluing its local currency with stupid policies.

What if your requirements don't happen? It was so ridiculous, where an employee tried to make his boss work hard for his subordinates. The company will only pay its employees when it is due. No matter the currency rate, they have to pay their debts as quickly as possible. In addition to keeping the employee's economy in good shape, this will also have a good impact on the related company.
Employees certainly don't want to be late in receiving their paychecks, even if it's using cryptocurrency. Because someone's management has been determined and planned by the family so that employees can survive.

Nope there's no way you can meet that condition since there's no employer will ask about in which way would ypu want to pay simce its so hassle to pay up your workers in different forms so if your employer will decide to pay you in cryptocurrency then provably you will get the same amount om your daily wages, just make sure that your opted to get your salary im USD value so that you can get the same figures whatever market conditiom happened when you receive it.

All companies really don't want to be regulated by their own employees, if indeed the company decides to pay employee salaries with crypto.
So companies will not care about crypto market conditions, companies will only pay salaries according to the time they have set. For example,
paying salaries at the beginning of each month, the company will still pay employee salaries with crypto at the beginning of every month no matter
the market conditions. Therefore, most companies still prefer to pay their employees salaries with fiat, because crypto prices are very volatile.

Also, first receiving it in fiat causes less trouble regarding taxation and it also allows you to choose when to invest a portion into crypto and when not. A decent alternative is to agree on a 50 crypto : 50 fiat solution, but honestly speaking fiat only is just less of a hassle under most circumstances.

And the point is that you can't accept payments for volatile assets like bitcoin. because there can't be such a thing to only your favor. They will definitely send the appropriate value from the market at that time . There are still many who do not accept crypto payments and I think that is understandable due to the factor of asset transfer fees and other things.

Since the world economy is still run by fiat, later down the line I will be forced to cash out my cryptocurrencies in exchange for fiat in order to sustain my survival. If there's a way we can go through all forms of establishments and be presented with an option to pay using cryptocurrencies I don't see any reason as to why I should exchange my coins for fiat which is not only a much inferior form of money, but is quite unsanitary given the health risks that the COVID pandemic has presented us. So it's more like I have no choice really because if I do, I will always choose cryptocurrencies.
As cryptocurrencies are volatile, I would choose fiat currency, yeah. I would rather getting paid in fiat and then invest some amount into cryptocurrencies. Because I use cryptocurrencies for investment purposes mostly.
This too. I can't risk losing my already miniscule salary lol. For the moment cryptocurrencies aren't ready yet for what the world really needs. But sooner or later some genius will come up with a way to integrate the necessities of the public to cryptocurrencies, it's just a matter of when at this point.

Since the adoption in my country is so low even if I was given the option to get all my salary in bitcoin I will be unable to accept it, however if I could get a part of it in fiat and another part on bitcoin then that would be ideal for me as I will save myself the fees, which is not a great deal but any satoshi that you save counts at the end of the day, the only people that will be able to accept their full salary in bitcoin are those that live in a country or region in which they can use their bitcoin in a similar way to their fiat and there are not a lot of places like that.

If given a choice I would take majority in crypto and rest will have to take in fait because hardly any of the merchants accepts the crypto for making payment. So there will require fiat only in order to make payment. If everyone or majority as well accepted the payment in crypto would have gone with complete crypto.

Payment of wages in crypto will probably be a much more flexible option for countries that legalize crypto for payment. I think the crypto community will gladly accept it because this is also a form of support for the usefulness of crypto itself (mean of payment). Personally I have no problem as long as they are willing to pay me in crypto either partially or completely, it's up to them. But if I had a choice, maybe I would also choose 50:50 fiat and crypto.

both of them are important receiving payment from cryptocurrency is also like person that is receiving salary through fiat, the cryptocurrency we received cant be spend and use to buy anything without conversion to fiat in most countries, even before buying cryptocurrency you will use money in the bank to buy, both are related and can not function without one another.

getting paid with Bitcoin is more profitable than just fiat...

I am currently paid in bitcoin by bitvest because I am participating in the bitvest signature campaign, i imagine that it is an offline company where I work so I prefer to be paid with bitcoin than fiat, besides that I also have the choice to keep hold or swap some to fiat.

I would accept crypto as the payment when I get paid and I can sell my crypto to fiat anyway so it's no problem if I get paid in crypto or in fiat. I don't know for other people if they prefer crypto to fiat because if you ask me fiat is useful since not all people know how to use technology and not all people know bitcoin. There are also countries where bitcoin is banned or not adopted.

It would depend on the current market situation I guess. It could be better if they will pay me in crypto or bitcoin to be specific if its value is high but if it is low or in the verge of falling down even more, I would then prefer fiat currency as a payment for my service. I think some company out there in the world are already practicing paying their employees cryptocurrency. Looking back with El Salvador's decision of making bitcoin a legal tender, there's a high possibility that it would work out well for them as their citizens gets more oriented to cryptocurrencies.

Meh. I'll pass on the stablecoins, as I remember reading that it can be frozen and I wouldn't want my salary to be frozen.
A little bit through BTC and fiat are all good for me. Maybe the unstable price of BTC would be a bit disadvantage, but hodlers always know their way. :)

I did not know about Bitwage. It is a platform based in San Francisco according to his Twitter account created since 2014.
I would answer taking two criteria into account.
1. Yes, I would accept payment of my salary in bitcoin. Although I know about cryptocurrencies, I am also thinking of people who do not know about bitcoin and that this step we are taking is to include it throughout the world for the advantages it will provide in the economy.
2. Once we achieve massive adoption, usability problems will be solved either with the Lightning network or any other solution.

The current situation is difficult to comprehend but to be practical, I will not use my own cryptocurrency to purchase items because this is the time when you should save more assets due to the bear market. Wait for the market to recover or go on another bull run; if you've used those as payment, you'll be very sorry. Use fiat currency, which is very stable, rather than crypto, which has the potential to grow after many months. Take note that it is the fourth quarter of the year, and there are always two options: either the market will recover or the market will have a bull run for the rest of the year, so it is better to be safe than sorry.

However, if the market is very stable, with no signs of a correction or bear market, I am free to use it as a payment method. And I'm wondering why I would use cryptocurrency when it's stable if fiat is always stable? It makes no sense, so I'll continue to use fiat :P

I think if we will be educated with crypto, just like what El Salvador has done to their citizens, then having crypto as a salary is not a problem. The problem with crypto is its high volatility so whenever the price falls down, i will choose fiat over crypto. Aside from the reason that most of the basic necessities are getting paid in fiat, crypto has no fixes value because it fluctuates every now and then. Maybe in the future, if crypto has its high fixed value, then getting paid on it is never really a problem.

if we were in bullish trend , its better to receive payment in cryptcurrency especially bitcoin or major coins such as eth and bnb. when we hold it more profits will come us. but while market down ,maybe stable coin will be better to avoid assets value decrease.

I will choose to get paid in bitcoin. I'm aware of the risk that it has upon accepting it but what's that if we've been already in the crypto market for years and understands how volatile it is.
We're for the high risk yet very rewarding type of asset that we've been used to those ups and downs of the market so that won't matter to me and I'll be happy to accept it.

If the boss pays in Bitcoin, would you want it? Or you continue to prefer to pay in fiat currency to facilitate the purchase of tokens you like.

If you're doing a portion of your paycheck as a way to dollar cost average in, that makes sense.  It's just like an investment account where you would have the same arrangement.  But I can't imagine anyone who actually needs their job income to live would take 100% in bitcoin.  The utility isn't high enough and the volatility risk is extremely high.

Like Chester said there, that is more like (DCA) "Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) is a strategy where an investor invests a total sum of money in small increments over time instead of all at once. The goal is to take advantage of market downturns without risking too much capital at any given time." Source. (https://www.gemini.com/cryptopedia/dollar-cost-average-crypto-invest) I wouldn't mind this approach where a percentage of my salary will be converted to cryptocurrency which I believe is better than the whole salary being paid in crypto because I will still have to trade it back to fiat becue I believe not everything you need you can get by using crypto but fiat. So fiat is still very valuable this time.

It depends because there are people are ignorant about cryptocurrency and they want a fiat so that they can easily budget and use it.

A salary in a form of cryptocurrency is a good adoption but it is not for all so we still need to consider that.

But If I'm in that situation, it is okay with me as I know how cryptocurrency works and its essence into an individual.

I will completely choose fiat currency for my salary. Fiat money has a stable value while bitcoin price is very volatile, the salary you get can go down or up suddenly. I don't want to risk my salary because it's my only source of income. therefore I prefer to be paid in fiat currency rather than being paid with bitcoin.

As for me, this desire is somewhat ahead of reality. Well, ok, many have heard enough of how Bitcoin began to cost $ 60k, everyone believes that they will definitely get lucky and their $ 3,000 will turn into $ 10,000 without doing anything. But it is worth remembering the history and the real state of affairs with cryptocurrency - in 2018, many added gray hair and twitching eyelids ... What prevents people from going the way of minimizing risks and diversifying their incomes, if they really want crypto?

I will choose cryptocurrency because it has the potential to grow and it can be used in many ways. It can be used to trade, if you are knowledgeable in trading or long term investment. It can be used to buy different altcoins so that you can divide your crypto holdings. It is still flexible, you can transfer it to banks, if you have an emergency you can easily use it.

Well, you can't live all your life with just belief in the potential of bitcoin, you need to eat too so I think that it's going to difficult for you to deal with daily life if you go for an all in with bitcoin as a salary for now. Also, your transfer might take a long time too so it's going to be hard for you.

IMO, there is no point in paying the salaries in Bitcoin, when it is possible to easily convert our fiat savings to Bitcoin. And at least for tax purposes, it is always easier to purchase BTC with fiat, rather then doing the opposite. These sort of threads just act as clickbait and the OP himself know that the suggestion is not practical. And as you have mentioned, it is important to remember what happened in 2018, when the exchange rates went from $20,000 to $3,000. 90% of the Bitcoin users expect BTC to go up always and are ill-prepared when an extended phase of correction occurs.

It depends on the circumstances? If the market changes dramatically, I don't want to receive a crypto salary unless there is a bonus, such as for transaction fees and other expenses. But, of course, choosing fiat as payment is much better because if you want to invest, you can simply convert it and buy the specific cryptocurrency you want. Even crypto is very trendy, people will still choose the stable coin, maybe choosing usdt or busd is a good option, at least they're cryptocurrency :)

That's excellent idea for those who are always into crypto currencies. I mean I am reading through the thread and it seems that few people are ambiguous about the ideology behind 15% share of crypto from monthly salary while some of them loving it totally! Well, some of them are here by choice and do not want to have crypto at all. In general it's mixed population and bitcoin adoption is not at it's best at all. Things will change when slowly in the future as the BTC goes world-wide. The idea of BTC adoption can only be fulfilled if we get the proper infra throughout the globe, and honestly it's huge project to work on!

Who knows, in the future there might be payment methods to choose from, I mean some of them may wanna get paid in crypto full.  :D

I also don't think this is a bad idea to think about. I would be very happy to receive full payment of my salary in crypto even though I will eventually have to convert it to fiat as well. This is a form of support from me for crypto being used as a mean of payment and I think others should also consider it.

For countries that are developing their own crypto which is completely controlled by the government, then I think they can also use it as a mean of payment including paying employee salaries. I don't think they will use bitcoin or any other decentralized altcoin if the payment system with crypto is adopted by the government. They will use their own crypto instead of using bitcoin as a mean of payment.

Personally, I would divide my profit like 70% cash then the remaining 30% for cryptocurrency.

Unfortunately, in the Philippines, any income earned should be paid in our legal tender- which is cash. If an employee receives anything that is not cash as income, it will be prohibited under the law. Assuming that Congress has amended the Labor Code and allowed cryptocurrency to be paid as income, then I would happily embrace it. But, the key here is by dividing your income to like a ratio of 70/30 or 80/20.

Receiving all of your income as cryptocurrency can be definitely risky on your part due to its volatility. In addition, the company also falls on the risk of losing more amounts of cash due to cryptocurrencies volatility.

For those of us who already know the benefits of cryptocurrencies, definitely expect to receive salary payments in crypto. Hopefully in the future it will
come true, that we get the choice of paying our salaries, so it doesn't have to be in fiat. But unfortunately some countries are starting to develop their
own crypto, which will be a replacement for fiat in the future. This makes the opportunity for Bitcoin to be used as a salary payment option even smaller,
surely the government will choose to use crypto that they created themselves. Honestly governments do like things they can control, while Bitcoin cannot
be controlled by the government. Therefore in some countries Bitcoin is only allowed as a digital asset and is prohibited from being used for payments.

No, I would prefer payments in cryptocurrency, but on one condition, if I have a means of subsistence or some kind of third-party income.
Indeed, in the middle of the bear market, I will have to live on something, and in such conditions it is extremely unprofitable to sell cryptocurrency, so you always need a safety net.
Which so far, to some extent, gives access to fiat. It is not in vain that we have so many stable coins that allow us to sit out difficult times and buy at more favorable prices. What happens if fiat is lost, there will be volatility.

Adaption is a great thing when it comes to using cryptocurrency to be able to promote and make other people to get use to it in a sense that upon being able to be familiar on how to use, massive adaption will arise. But there are still some things that people will personally consider on wondering how to make things out the way it was supposed to be done just like having their own free will to accept their income through fiat or cryptocurrency. For me I would choose fiat due to the reason that it is the only accepted currency in my country in terms of payment as of the moment.

I will still choose part of the legal currency. Although everyone who knows cryptocurrencies knows that holding cryptocurrencies can gain benefits, transactions require handling fees, and you will end up with less funds than you deserve. And there are still many people who don’t know cryptocurrency. It is very difficult to use cryptocurrency to trade with them, you need to change the cryptocurrency to legal currency before trading with them. In some areas, the use of cryptocurrency is not allowed, and fiat currency must be used to buy goods. Fiat currency is well known to everyone, many people are used to fiat currency transactions, and it can be used anywhere.

As long as we still have the security to be able to meet our daily needs for at least 3 months then receiving crypto from salary in my opinion is not a problem, this actually trains us to invest, sometimes by force accepting crypto then we will understand about investment, and of course this is a good thing.

Absolutely agree ! There is not a single argument in favor of such a decision. Except for the situation when the same bitcoin becomes the means of payment in the country :)
And everything else is the responsibility of the person himself - he must independently make decisions - where to invest, assess risks, take responsibility, fix profit or loss, analyze ... That would pay all participants wages in bitcoin - for 3 months everyone was bi happy, and then the joy would clearly have been replaced by negativity and shouts of "give us back fiat!"

I would still prefer fiat currency. You know you can't pay your bills using crypto currencies. And what if you get paid in a non stable coin and the next day the market crashes really bad? We have seen the price of crypto currencies go down more than 20% in just few days. You will be in trouble then. Then there is those transaction fees which sometimes end up being very absurd. Get paid in fiat, buy crypto with fiat ;).

I see that your chosen indicator can only be used as a trading tool, isn't it very simple?  BTC is like gold, gold can't buy a good must be exchanged first to fiat then do you still prefer fiat to gold?  If given the opportunity to choose then BTC is the best choice. Although it cannot be used as a direct transaction tool, BTC can be the best store of value than if you store it in fiat.  What you get by filling an account with fiat for 10 years when compared to BTC is a very clear growth chart.

Maybe I will still choose fiat money first to be transferred to my personal account. So that I am free to convert my currency to a coin of my choice. So that I know when I'm ready to buy. If at that time in the form of a coin, I think it is less effective.

My choice of salary is always bitcoin. Once I used to hold every payment of mine and due to some sort of emergency sold my holdings. Earlier used to convert my earnings into cryptocurrency and used to convert only on need. Once again I'm feeling to do such a kind of cryptocurrency holding so to make my life better than now.

Given the current fees and Bitcoin's volatility, I doubt it is the best choice to get paid in bitcoin in every single situation. If you earn pretty much exactly the amount of money you need per month to pay your bills, I would probably prefer fiat over bitcoin honestly. What are you going to do if it does crash during those days or the week you are getting paid usually?

Honestly i would still like to receive fiat because you wouldnt really worry about getting less or getting more as price volatility is always on the play on the time you would accept it and since you would really be converting it back to fiat specially if you do need to pay up the bills and expenses which means conversion would still involved some transaction fee which means it would be a deduction unlike when you are just receiving fiat then there would be no strings attached and would able to pay up on fix manner. The good thing on receiving fiat is that you do have always the option to partition your money neither it would be saved up for emergency funds and
you would able to allocate some funds or budget when you do intend to invest in bitcoin or simply generally in crypto.

If I was given this option am going to go for bitcoin.  The opportunity cost that bitcoin has is quite high and if I was being paid 0.05 btc and upon receiving my payment price goes up that's  bonus pay without working for it but this is not one sided which is the only disadvantage, price could go down which means that weekly or monthly pay am suppose to have got will be lesser than usual.

indeed for now the use of bitcoin is less relevant for all levels of transactions. because of the high volatility and the price of an item is fixed in fiat units, then we will find it difficult for small entrepreneurs, because not all of them understand crypto. it's different if crypto is accepted in all countries and the unit of goods uses bitcoin for the price, of course at that time we can spend it calmly

I would accept but the condition for me to accept is that there's a lot of business establishments that offers good and services that accepts crypto as a payment because it's going to be a hassle if I am going to exchange it for fiat and it defeats the purpose of having a salary in cryptocurrency because you can't exactly use it as it is.

Do you think cryptocurrency payment will be a new trend in the future?

I think that payment for employees in the form of cryptocurrency would only happen in the future if there was massive widespread adoption. One reason I think this is because at the moment in most places cryptocurrency is not fully adopted into everyday life. Many major retailers do not accept cryptocurrency, and in most places you cannot pay for rent or other things like that with cryptocurrency.
So once you think about this, it wouldn't make too much sense to receive your entire paycheck in a cryptocurrency if you would have to swap some or most of it over into fiat to survive.

No, I wouldn't prefer to get paid through cryptocurrency. Because I don't think that it is necessary and good at the same time. Because we can buy cryptocurrencies already while we are getting paid through fiat. We can invest whatever amount we would like into them.

I have multiple jobs, some of them are paying me via cryptocurrency. And you know this is a wonderful opportunity specially if the price is bullish. You keep your salary rising and only withdraw them if the price reached ATH.. Or you can convert them to stable coin like USDT or DAI and wait for another price move up to get profit.

That is one important aspect and the other one is that even stable coins aren't a solution to that problem because the hassle is too big as hardly any business accepts Tether. Also, why use Tether if you can just use the USD in your bank account. Less explanations to financial authorities, overall less trouble. We are not quite there that more and more people get paid in crypto because it is more practical to them. Some do receive or take crypto as payment because they want to drive adoption, which is a good and important endeavor.

There is no point in using Tether (or any other stablecoin), when their acceptability is far lower than fiat currency. As of now, none of the cryptocurrencies have an acceptability rate which can be compared with that of fiat currency. On top of that, the usage of these stablecoins may create issues for you, when you file your tax returns. And finally, I would not consider Tether (USDT) as a safe asset. From whatever data they have published so far, it is clear that only a minority of the reserves are being held in cash. That will be an issue in case of a mass liquidation event.

I will choose 50% fiat money and 50% in bitcoin. I will use fiat money to buy daily necessities and I will use bitcoin as future savings. but even if it does happen I'm sure most employees will choose to be paid with fiat money because currently very few people know bitcoin. besides that at this time there are still few places that accept bitcoin as a means of payment, and of course this makes many people not want to be paid with bitcoin.

I would definitely like to be paid in part with crypto because that would be easier than collecting my salary in fiat and then try to buy some crypto from it again which will attract some fees from my investments also  ;D
People can just use that form of crypto investment as a means of monthly cryptocurrency accumulation which I think is a good way to monthly DCA or whichever pattern your salary comes in.

As a trader, I still choose fiat currency If you can get paid through cryptocurrency. Because of the acceptance through traditional money I will be able to purchase cryptocurrency from the convenient stage through my saved money market analysis. In my opinion, this will make it possible to make more profit and increase the number of total assets. Due to the volatility of cryptocurrency prices, it seems more reasonable to accept traditional money if you have the skills and experience to invest it at the right time.

With the acceptance of cryptocurrency by more and more people, most of us are accustomed to getting paid in fiat currency. This method has penetrated our ideas. If Bitcoin is now proposed to pay salaries, most people should have difficulty Accept it, because cryptocurrency is unstable. If it is used as a reward, it will definitely cause instability of our income. No one is willing to shrink their own interests.

I can allow some part of my compensation is on crypto because that can serve as my investments. Everyday I need to purchase my daily needs so I need fiat. If my salary is on crypto, then I need to convert it ot fiat first before using it. So I thonk it was a little bit hassle.

- You don't allow and others don't nor allow and deny, sometimes each person will prefer half fiat payment and the rest crypto, sometimes they also prefer 20% or 30% crypto, the company is not created to discuss the issue of basic salary on crypto, delaying work solely due to such personal requests is not something the company requires employees to do. Your little trouble is hundreds and thousands of contracts for the modification and signing again for the company, fiat is still the most common and easiest system

There has been no independent audit. We know what they have revealed so far. And there is no guarantee that they are saying the truth. I still don't know why people prefer USDT over other more reliable stablecoins. One justification that I have heard is that USDT is more decentralized when compared to the other stablecoins. But should that be a factor to be considered? Irrespective of who is issuing them, someone needs to store the backup funds. And that is the case for USDT, as well as for the other stablecoins such as USDC, PaxUSD, BUSD and UST.

However, if adoption for crypto is already happening and we can purchase our basic needs thru crypto, then there's no way i still get interested with fiat. I believe crypto is the future particularly bitcoin so i will make sure i own a huge amount of it as much as possible.

of course you guys can never YET live without fiat, at least for now.. as the mass adoption wont takeover in few days, it takes decades and we are working on it day by day, building a strong huge ecosystem.
if u live in a solid crypto environtment you might could do this.
using crypto as a whole in our daily activities, but not today.

crypto still widely known as an asset rather than a money though.
you cant buy bread with crypto anywhere anytime for your daily needs,  theres might one but not much.
the point is thst the work are in progress.

I think even if it's for a very long time, maybe in the next few decades we will still need fiat at least for transactions in real life such as buying daily necessities.
Although bitcoin was adopted by many people and has begun to be used for transactions, it does not necessarily mean that bitcoin is used as the main means of payment because we all know for sure that bitcoin can be used as an alternative.
and it will be very difficult for fiat to be eliminated because believe it or not for some people (including me) fiat is still the main choice to buy goods or daily needs

Getting paid in cryptocurrencies is still very new in the market. People who knew well about the potential will go for it. The existence of fiat money can't go unused for any reason. This makes people get used to it, even when we have got more number of development and advancement associated assets for usage.

It's not a tough question to me to be honest. My answer is, I wouldn't want to get paid in Bitcoin for example. Because I don't see any meaning in this. Most of us are using Bitcoin as an investment tool, we must admit that. So, we can already make our investments after we get paid in fiat. So, is there really a need for us to get paid in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency?

There's no adequate answer that I can give to that, because people these days combined both cryptocurrency on their daily living. In using the internet transactions, of course cryptocurrency can be a good alternative instead of fiat but for local goods that needs fiat currency it won't be effective. So the future might be considered as a divided mindset for both physical money and digital currency. We need them both in order to continue dwelling towards technology advancement.

Maybe in 10 years from now literally every store has the infrastructure to facilitate quick and easy cryptocurrency transactions. I remember the times when debit and credit cards were a quite new thing and you couldn't pay with card everywhere. Nowadays it is the pervasive standard. I think the same will happen with cryptocurrencies and the required infrastructure. If conversion is necessary, that will all happen in the backend such that neither the merchant nor the customer has to deal with any calculations. It is going to be much simpler in the future.

Many of us live in places where we can't do much with crypto! So there's no point in receiving the entire paycheck in crypto when you depend on fiat! The other thing, maybe more important, is for how much money you working and how much you spend! If you live from month to month, there's no enough money for putting on a side (investing)... but some people who have higher paychecks can combine it... for example Messi:

Quote
Messi's move to PSG includes getting partly paid in the club's cryptocurrency — the value of which has tripled since last week. Football star Lionel Messi shall be partly paid via the club's fan token, $PSG. The Ethereum-based token is in high demand, with its value surging by 100%.

So why bother to invest every month, when you can simply get your salary partially in crypto... it's like saving and investing at the same time, and it's automatic!

of course all employees will choose to be paid with fiat money rather than being paid with bitcoin. these employees work to survive, not to invest. The price of bitcoin that changes all the time makes the number of bitcoins that employees get every month also changes.

How I wish all my customers will be willing to pay for the services we render in all the transaction we do have with them I would have been the most happiest person. Though we are yet to get to that level in our society where almost everyone will be aware of Bitcoin and crypto currency in general, till then we will be trying to educate anyone we come across about Bitcoin and crypto currency in general.

what was your business all about ?
if its online it will be easier to encourage people to pay using cryptocurrency because cryptos is online but if it was an offline business that will take time especially if your country is newly expose in cryptocurrency but indeed that we all can get there but what you did of spreading the word bitcoin can help speed up the process of crypto adoption in your place .

Maybe for others, they will choose to get paid in fiat currency but in my part its very hard to choose to be honest.
I've being paid through cryptocurrency for more than a year already and I lived with it already. I already know when to convert into our own fiat currency and when not to. This isn't the case for most here because they choose to hold the cryptos that they are getting especially if its crypto.

Well to answer that question, I think I'd still choose to paid through fiat currency but if they can pay me half half then I would take it :). After all, both of them are currencies. Its just that Bitcoin has more risk because of its volatility.

However, also 10 years from now, digital fiat payment will be more fast and convenient. It's already improved honestly and that's what people want.

Not all employees don't like the idea of receiving crypto as salary even they are aware of the good future on it. Maybe because the opportunity to use it everywhere is still far from happening. The majority of regular employees spend their salary right away so no difference at all if they will be paid in crypto as they will convert it to fiat quickly.

Those who will accept crypto as salary are those who already lurk in the crypto-world for a long time as they more understand the market volatility.

this is a difficult choice, if you look at the price of bitcoin now then I prefer to be paid with bitcoin, but if it turns out that one day the price of bitcoin drops drastically, surely everyone will still choose fiat.

So, choosing both is the best option.

When you start to get paid in crypto and live your life that way, it is really hard to go back, I have been doing it for 5 years or more right now and I got offers from regular companies that offered fiat and I had to decline them all. I usually go to interviews, which are online anyway for the past 1+ year, and they usually offer me more money than what I am making right now, one of them offered x2 more than what I am making right now, I still declined it.

It is not about money for me, I love my job, and if they offer me a job that I will love AND get paid more, I may consider it, since I am doing my job at home already, I could definitely manage them both at the same time, I would be doing my current job a little less but I could.  However, NOBODY in the world would offer me more money for what I am doing right now, it is just an insanely good job and I am getting paid fully in crypto, hence there is no way I can ever go back to fiat.

In my case, since there are still no merchants in my place that come to accept crypto payment, i prefer to get paid in cash. It would be hard for me to puchase all my basic needs and necessities if i still have to process my bitcoin from a reliable exchange and still have to pay its high transaction fee.

However, i know i should also have some bitcoin in my wallet as part of my investment. Bitcoin is still incomparable if you consider it as an asset or investment so atleast we should also learn to balance bitcoin from fiat according from its real life uses.

it was already more than 10 years that been receiving fiat money for my salary, and maybe it was time to get paid with crypto instead of fiat but it was all just a dream as it was impossible for now since this was not already introduced to our government concerning with that system. Until there is no support from the employers and the government, this couldn't come into reality. Maybe this could work several years from now but I'm not sure if I'm still working or already passed away.

Well, at least you are getting paid in crypto through signature campaign in this forum. It's a good beginning for those who can't get paid in bitcoin on their main jobs yet. In my opinion it's a big advantage just like OP said, you don't need to wait for the best moment to buy bitcoin, as you are weekly or monthly accumulating crypto payments in your wallet. Furthermore, you don't need to send money from your bank account to an exchange platform and you don't need to convert your funds from fiat into crypto, cutting taxes and increasing your profit this way.

Anyway it's really interesting how we have access to a wonderful feature like this (getting paid in crypto) in this forum right now, while most people in Earth will only become aware about this possibility in many years yet. The technological gap among people is huge even in a globalized world where everyone is connected to the internet 24 hours a day.

I find it risky because the market is volatile. I would prefer getting paid in fiat so I'll have my salary in a fixed amount. I could actually invest it with Bitcoin alone. It will also be hard for each company to pay with Bitcoin because most companies are regulated by the government but I also consider the fact that this kind of adoption could happen in the future.

paid in fiat is good than crypto, because you can separate how much you buy bitcoin, and for daily life. also, too little for people want to paid via crypto, minimum information or they know how these two things work.
we already know how it feel, paid in crypto from this site. in a fact, mostly, exchange to fiat for life.

You are definitely right on this one rather than on accepting crypto directly which would involved some fees when making out some conversion which simply means its a gross income compared when you do tend to accept
fiat as usual then you could always have the option on allocating those funds on investment, emergency funds, savings and other purposes you may have.So i do still prefer to get paid in fiat in the end of the day
but if ever there would be some alterations or changes then you wouldnt have any choice but to deal with it but talking about preference then most people do know on which one they would gonna choose.
We do really stick into traditional side of things.

Because traditional money is accepted, I will be able to purchase cryptocurrencies at a convenient time using my saved money market analysis. This, in my opinion, will allow for greater profit and a greater quantity of overall assets. Because of the unpredictability of bitcoin pricing, accepting traditional money appears more sensible if you have the expertise and experience.

If in the future the adoption is big and everyone will accept crypto, then I would rather choose crypto, but I don't think it will happen easily, it will take some time for people to get adopted in crypto and fiat will still be the most widely used in the world.

For now, my principle is crypto is not good for spending, it's good for saving or holding for your future, if you succeed, that's the time you can spend whether fiat or crypto, it doesn't matter as long as you can spend the way you want it.

Well considering this on my side on a case-to-case basis. Why?
Because not all countries have the same treatment of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies --some of them considering as legal and also there are some thinking bitcoin is illegal and unacceptable. But if everything is good, why not if they will pay you bitcoin and besides you can spend whatever you want since bitcoin is a part of one of the most valuable cryptocurrencies. Fiat or crypto does not matter to me, as long as I have a source of income.

I would still choose fiat. Even though I have a vast interest in crypto, I would still choose fiat as it gives me more options on which type of coins I would buy and freedom on when I would practically buy them.

Partially is acceptable as long as it's one of the trusted coins.
I would never accept coins that could potentially lose much value in a short period.

For most people, except those who are already wealthy enough to live independently, it is simply not feasible for them to be paid in cryptocurrency for a full time wage. As in most cases they will need to convert it back to fiat currency in order to pay regular bills like rent/mortgage, electricity, water bills and property taxes. That just adds extra transaction fees in the middle, before you even try to calculate the fluctuations that can happen very randomly - it's great when the value of your monthly salary goes up, but it can cause great anxiety when the price starts to go downwards. For peace of mind, if nothing else, people will be paid in relatively stable fiat currency long into the future.

Some argue that the use of Bitcoin in paying salaries will make it easier for the company concerned to attract new talent while retaining old employees.

One who believes this is Eric Piscini, a financial technology consultant from Deloitte Consulting LLP.

In addition, Rise People, a Canadian online recruitment software provider, said there are a number of advantages to implementing Bitcoin as a form of salary payment.

Some of them are easy to use, minimal additional costs, and can attract more new talents. Then, of course, this method can grow Blockchain technology and Bitcoin itself.

Even so, discordant voices regarding the implementation are still heard from various circles. Some mentioned that paying salaries with Bitcoin would put employees in a confusing situation.

The risk of receiving a salary using Bitcoin cannot be ruled out.

Its value, which can change drastically, is one of the scourges to be reckoned with for employees and companies that implement this policy.

If i work in a company, and they offer to pay me in the form of cryptocurrency, i'll love the idea but will also accept to receive a fraction or percentage in traditional fiat currency especially if the company salary is my sole source of income. My reason being that i like to consider any money that enters into my cryptocurrency account as an investment and a last resort and will not want to develop the habit of always selling my coins to get fiat that will result if i permit the whole payment in cryptocurrency.

I will accept fiat currency instead of cryptocurrencies, as we know that almost all of my current needs use fiat and crypto, I only use it for online transactions and long-term investments. anytime we can buy crypto but to buy anything we have to use fiat currency.

Most logical answer. Fiat currency can be used for 100% of our financial transactions. Although the acceptance of Bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies are increasing, they can't be used everywhere. And another factor is the ease of making transactions. Who will be willing to pay a very high transaction fee and wait for 10-20 minutes to get their transactions confirmed? Also, it is always easier to convert your fiat to crypto, rather than doing the reverse. IMO, it is OK to receive a part of your salary in the form of crypto, but the OP hasn't given that option.

It really depends on the situation; if we're talking about online, I think it's worth it to try paying with crypto; however, if we're talking about a physical store, I think I'll go with fiat because it requires internet, and we don't have a lot of free wifi in our country, so we'll need data to do it. For the time being, I believe that fiat is the greatest option because it is the most accessible, but if you want to experiment with or get a feel for how to pay with crypto, you can do so. We all have our own preferences, but for the time being, fiat is the best option for me.

I will choose most of the cryptocurrencies and a small amount of fiat currencies.
  • The price of Bitcoin is unstable and fluctuates greatly, and when the price drops and must be sold for daily payments, it will cause great economic losses. So I have to keep fiat currency to meet the payment needed in daily life.
  • Bitcoin has developed rapidly and its price has risen a lot, but it is still in the early stages of development and has great growth potential. Long-term holding of Bitcoin can bring high profits.

But if it's i sell some items or selling foods for business, i will just accept fiat at this moment because i want to re invest the money for the next sale. And i have to do it in fiat, if i got paid with crypto, i will get hit a lot by transaction fee.

This is no longer a dependency as you say, opportunity with crypto and you seem to be just a compulsion, our life and crypto have no mutual neutrality, once the relationship becomes metamorphosed, you're not the only one involved in troubles like expenses, the accounting department and most other departments will complain about the pressure and unreasonable shifting of salaries with crypto. Fiat has more spatial and relational neutrality and is less likely to cause chaos than crypto when that's its mission.

Employees on salaries with Cyptocurrency?
If this question is for employees who are already Cyptocurrency users, of course they will answer "Agree".
Because this makes it easier for them to transact, transparent and know the salary history of work friends.
And salaries with cryptocurrencies can also be used to invest.
But if the question is addressed to employees who do not understand cryptocurrencies, of course they will not agree with the main reason must be a volatile price and still choose to pay with fiat money.

If employee salaries are really in salaries with cryptocurrency in the future, I am very happy because by using a blockchain system with transparency then there is no longer a salary feud between employees.
But all of that can be realized of course must also be supported by the government about cryptocurrency law in the country.

I would prefer being paid in BTC or any other decently listed cryptocurrency with a large market cap. At this point, screw banks. Nobody needs banks and nobody wants them. Banks are the Blockbuster of modern times. Destined to grow out of popularity due to redundance. In crypto, your money is decentralised, so no one person can decide to freeze your money or even know about your business in general.

At the end of the day it comes down to fees. This company is just an exchange dressed up as something else - it is in direct competition with a company like Coinbase or any of the dozen others out there. People who really want to buy cryptocurrency will most likely go to the trouble of learning the basics and one of the earliest things you'll ever learn is where to buy it safely along with the cheapest price. So this come will either be offering better rates (which is not difficult when you look at rip-offs like Binance) or they offer better security, the latter being unlikely for a new start-up compared to these long established companies. There are all sorts of ways to market it but the end user is really just worried about those two things - it's easier than ever to buy cryptocurrency now, so this isn't a special idea.

I will choose to accept a small amount of Bitcoin and most of the legal currency, store the bitcoin and use the legal currency for consumption and payment.
Bitcoin has not yet been widely used, and only a few shops may accept Bitcoin as payment. Therefore, legal currency must be reserved to meet daily consumption. And if there is a remaining legal currency, it can be used to invest in Bitcoin or other currencies.
The price of Bitcoin is unstable and has certain risks. At present, it is not suitable as a daily transaction currency but more suitable as an investment currency. Long-term holding can obtain a lot of benefits.

I will choose to use legal currency as a reward. Although many countries have legalized Bitcoin,
Not that many actually but they're more than those that have declared illegal on it.

I think it is better to use legal currency to buy coins that I like. Fiat is more often used daily.
You are just adding some process if you'll just about to buy cryptos with fiat. Then just accept crypto directly and then just trade it on exchanges if the purpose is to trade.

It depends on the cryptocurrency. If it is Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency that is volatile, then I would certainly like to continue with fiat currencies. Because it wouldn't be very ideal for me to keep all my money in a volatile cryptocurrency. It is a really silly risk to take in my opinion. When Bitcoin price drops sharply, I would be in a big trouble in that case.

Crypto volatility really affects if you usually use your salaries. the market movement always have the chance to turned against you.

The chance to see the value of your money slowly fallen and you can't quickly exchange it to your local fiat since it's still in the process of transferring to your wallet. Situation that make you think twice to accept full payment using crypto.

Different users have their own opinions and some seen opportunities and some may not.

No. I will always choose cryptocurrency only if the altcoin is not a dollar.
The dollar is the only currency in which I am ready to accept payments of funds, otherwise I will be happy to receive a salary in cryptocurrency.
However, under the current realities, cryptocurrency will always be converted to fiat money before being paid out.
but it's actually very nice if we are asked to choose in salary. and indeed what you say is true, but when we are asked to choose between crypto and fiat does not mean we choose one and leave the other.
Even though fiat still dominates now, it doesn't hurt when we take into account crypto because even though it is volatile, that's what makes it beautiful.

I would prefer cryptocurrency reasons because most at time the market could be on a bull and this would allow you earn more after initial salary or wages paid to you. By this process you could save some crypto coin, maybe payment night be with BNB or ETH either any other reputable currencies, while company could possibly pay in a stable coin.

Yeah, I'd still choose fiat. Why? One of many reasons is that in the real world, not all are accepting cryptos as a mode of payment. Let's say here in the Philippines, since the Government itself is quite cautious about or in dealing with crypto they advise the public to be somehow cautious as well. So it's not that advisable for us to depend on crypto itself.

But, others might say that we can convert it via P2P or trading. Yeah, I'd agree but it's quite a hassle due to the P2P procedure. Especially, when it comes to emergencies. Hence, I'd like the of getting paid by crypto it's just not ideal where we are at.

I will still choose fiat currency. Cryptocurrency is highly volatile, and receiving it as income has certain risks, and economic losses will occur when the price drops. Not only can the use of legal currency meet the daily consumption, but also diversified investments can be made by analyzing the encrypted market to make more profits.

I will choose cryptocurrency over fiat currency. I think this is a good offer if I work and get paid for cryptocurrencies, this will get us used to investing so that we can get a lot of profit, of course I only want to get paid from coins that already have a good reputation like bitcoin, Binance or XRP .

I will definitely choose to get paid in fiat currency instead of crypto simply because you still need to convert it into fiat to be able to use it to buy goods and services here especially if your country does not consider any crypto as a legal tender. Moreover, the market is very volatile and it will have a significant effect on the value of your salary so I think it would be better just to stick with stable currency when it comes to your salary.

If we have option then surely in current situation mostly peoples will love to have fiat because they feel cryptocurrency is volatile but in some other situation mean if we have all on fiat rate, and we are able to sell this as we want than It's also not bad at all because we are taking this into our rate not in cryptocurrency, so it's not going to damage us even we can store our extra income for investment and for regular use we are good to go after sale of our cryptocurrency.

One thing is sure if we have some surely then surely mostly peoples will go with fiat because in many countries still many issues regarding crypto and bitcoin and new rules and regulations also coming which are not good for crypto.

I would choose to get paid in crypto-currency, and even more excited if I get paid in Bitcoin, and especially now that my countries currency is dropping, the Naira now is 550+ to 1 dollars, so imagine saving you getty paid in Naira and saving it, I think it's would keep depreciating because of the bad economy of the country, so am always going to choose to be paid in crypto-currency if I start to work in a company or individual. But the problem with this is for countries that has ban on Crypto-currency, and also how to buy things straight-out using the crypto-currency you got paid in.

Yes. Its going be on trend in very near future. If my company is going to be pay my salary in crypto, certainly I would demand 100% of my salary in crypto coin as fiats requirement for my monthly commitment may differ, so will convert needed crypto into fiats and will hold back the rest of crypto in wallet which will certainly double up if the market is going fine.

I still choose fiat currency to pay. Bitcoin has not yet been fully popularized, and only a few stores will use Bitcoin. Fiat currency can satisfy any payment, and you can also buy the currency you want to trade or invest.
Although Bitcoin is a very valuable asset, its price volatility is risky. When the price of Bitcoin drops, the wages paid in Bitcoin will be less than the original funds, and there will be a loss.

Personally, I don't agree with the boss's use of cryptocurrency as salary, which will make me lose the flexibility of assets. Since the price of cryptocurrency is not as stable as fiat currency, salary is a necessity to maintain daily life. If the price of cryptocurrency drops when I need to buy daily necessities, it will inevitably make me suffer losses. On the other hand, there are many channels for buying cryptocurrency. I can choose the appropriate funds to buy cryptocurrency at the right time according to my own investment plan. Using cryptocurrency as a salary will reduce the flexibility of my assets.

It would be great to have a portion paid directly in Bitcoin. That way I would save on fees, and it would be an automatic DCA.

Not 100%, because many things are still not payable in Bitcoin. I would treat it as an automatic savings account.

So it all matter with preference but of course those decisions will really vary on your knowledge on certain things because its normal that you would be having that kind of decision if you dont have any idea at all.

If in our country Bitcoin is recognized by banks as well as Transfer, then I have no reason to believe in Fiat currency.
You still have to take that fact that fiat exists. But if most of the banks in your country are against to bitcoin and they're unlikely to recognize its potential.

You'll have to accept that fact.

Bitcoin and other currencies are much better than Fiat.
They are as an investment and soon if adoption increases, we can pay it anywhere but this is for the most popular cryptos like bitcoin/eth, etc.

Banks can recognize bitcoin as much as they like, but they will still conduct their operations in fiat currency ;) Banks will still conduct their operations in fiat currency, regardless of whether you believe in fiat currencies or not ;) This is because banks do not operate in an airless space, but on the territory of certain states, and these states recognize only fiat currencies and require the same from banks, with very rare exceptions that only confirm the rules. In any case, even if banks recognize bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, they still conduct their operations in fiat currencies, exchanging for them at a certain stage, because the supervisory authorities or regulators will not allow otherwise.

If I can get paid through crypto then I will prefer to receive my salary as 30% crypto (I assume its bitcoin) and 70% fiat.

The 30% crypto will serve as my savings for every payday while the 70% fiat are my budget for essential needs and for paying the bills.

Bitcoin is not yet accepted by merchants here and thats the reason why I chose fiat because thats what I used to when spending.

This is not really a huge problem. You can order crypto plastic cards, that instantly or automatically convert crypto to fiat, when making payments or withdrawing from ATM.

The problem might rise when merchants will adjust prices in cryptocurrency to fiat equivalents. They need digital price tags on every item they sell. And I cant imagine how merchants will cope with exchange rate volatility. While customer walks with cart to cash desk, price can change 5-10% in any direction. Without mass adoption or even only after crypto totally substitutes fiat, salary in crypto will be a risky move.

I will still choose full fiat currency because in that way I can manage it more like first of all pay all the needs (water, electricity, food, etc) or else buy what I want. Then I can invest it into crypto when it's best.

The thing about being paid through cryptocurrency is there's a risk of a high service fee to convert it to fiat when you need it. Except if your employer offers to pay it and hand the crypto currency tax free or without being deducted.

I am working for a couple of crypto companies. One of them paid me in USDT and the other paid me in crypto. If I were to choose, I would be okay with USDT since it’s a stablecoin rather than in crypto that is subject to market volatility. However, I still need to convert that USDT into XRP in order to be withdrawn to my centralized wallet which was regulated by the government since there is no USDT feature yet.

But if you are getting some rewards in fiat can be asked in the btc so you can avoid paying taxes for that and also your salary from part time job can be in cryptocurrency.

personally, this is not a tax issue. to be honest, it's pretty good to get paid with cryptocurrency. however, as a good citizen, I would probably choose fiat for my salary. Meanwhile, in my salary, maybe I will divide some to be used as necessities, savings, and also investments. well, in a few percentages of my salary, I will probably choose one of the cryptocurrencies to be used as assets. however, I say like this if I am working on something in my city or country. if I do something online, it doesn't matter if I get paid using crypto or fiat.

Cryptos are known for its highest volatility range so if a salaried person make $1000 per month then the value may drop to $900 just few minutes after receiving them into their wallet so it will put their life in danger mode that's why I said its better to receive the basic source of income in fiat and the remaining in crypto currency if possible.

I would probably prefer to be paid in fiat in full because I'm already familiar with how to trade/convert to crypto at anytime. I mean I can buy more BTC if I do it on my own rather than through a payment processor that takes a higher service fee than my usual exchange.

This is an excellent point. Unless my organization will shoulder the the responsibility of the service fee and other hidden charges, I think, I would like to be paid in fiat and it convert to crypto anytime I want. By the way, what happens when to the price fluctuates? Would it affect the value of my money should I decide to accept payment in crypto?

Well, this is a very important point, adoption is a fact, just thinking about El Salvador they already have plans being executed with great success, so much so that they are going to start generating mining taking advantage of the power of volcanoes, and everything they have. advance in projects in other countries want to adopt BTC.
Although banks and governments have always been very against BTC and everything that has to do with blockchain technology, now they have to start accepting, because countries like India and China that are refusing can do very badly if they don't catch up with the world economic trend.

Maybe from this question becomes the answer to ourselves about our support to Cryptocurrency uses or just want to profit from this Cryptocurrency trend. In this case, the hypocrisy of everyone who explains the future of Bitcoin is near, yet remains being mad and spiteful when the Bitcoin price drops. ;D
[I'm in a position not to support Cryptocurrencies at the beginning of Bitcoin and finally open when the price reaches $25,000/BTC because I knew it will make big profit if I had one at that time.]

But I understand, of course many refuse to be paid with Cryptocurrencies because of the fluctuations (means, very active). it's not funny we get today our US$280/Month [I Lived in Indonesia, that's the average of salary here], and in 3 days just left only US$28.

We do not know up front if anyone can answer this anxiety. Indeed, there are stablecoins, but they don't seem to exist yet and our minds are still on fiat money.

Since bitcoin is not yet legalized as a legal tender especially in my country then I don't think we will be getting that offer any time soon. Had the bitcoin been legal then it would still be possible to consider the offer from my side as I don't think it would be a big deal although market activity could affect the estimated amount when I receive bitcoin in the wallet.

For consideration, I get paid from the signature campaign as much as $80 every week in bitcoin. If I want then I can convert everything to fiat if I want to buy something in the real world or if not then I will keep 50% of the amount for future investment. I can comply with government regulation by not paying for any item with bitcoin in my country, so I have to convert it to fiat. But I doubt the government will let companies in my country pay their employees salaries in bitcoin even though they have to convert it to fiat when they want to buy something.

If I get such an opportunity, then I'll request for a partial payment in cryptocurrency and the rest in fiat. At the moment we don't have big acceptance for cryptocurrency. The spreading is happening slowly and in some specific location it can be seen much. My location hasn't got such an access, so if I get everything in terms of bitcoin I find it difficult to spend.

Another important thing is the fee, if I get everything in cryptocurrency it'll cost me big if I want to change to fiat. If I get partially amount in fiat and the rest in cryptocurrency then the fiat amount gets used for spending and the payment in terms of cryptocurrency gets accumulated as savings/investment.

Accepting payments in crypto is only for those who are fine with the risk, those who don't want to spend time converting it and find it easy if they just get paid in crypto.

It excludes the payment in stable coins.

The use of crypto in my country can only be done online while I have little time to be online, and until now I have not seen any outlets or ATMs that accept cryptocurrencies so for now I prefer fiat if I receive a salary or from a business.

If you can get paid through cryptocurrency, do you still choose fiat currency?
If i were getting paid through cryptocurrency i would probably convert it into fiat because fiat money is needed in our daily lives. Especially to the poors.

We can use it to pay for the bills, electric, water, food supplies and other needs. Unlike crypto not all stores accepts cryptocurrency. We can also save some money in case of emergency. Some hospitals accepts bitcoin for the payments but then again not all hospitals. It could be a little complicated. So that is why fiat currency gives more importance than the use cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrency payment would be a nice form of payment
One may decide to invest his/her Bitcoin in the wallet to get profit if the price of the booms up, I would really prefer payment in cryptocurrency .
