Title: Is x-grape.io a legitimate exchange?
Post by: COLT601 on July 31, 2021, 02:42:27 AM
Is x-grape.io a legitimate exchange?  I met someone who keeps encouraging me to sign up there. Never heard of it before and can't seem to find any reviews. I was able to register with an invitation code but haven't provided any personal information yet.

Legitimate or not, I really just don't see any reason why anyone would use an exchange that's new and has little to no reputation. Not to mention that liquidity would most likely be really bad in the first place.

If you want to register on a centralized exchange, just pick the more reputable ones. Using exchanges in general is risky enough, you're putting yourself at a far higher risk for using non-reputable exchanges.

Not sure why would someone name an exchange after a fruit.

I did some checking and there aren't any user reviews. It's be on the market for almost a year but still, no reviews = no scam allegations or trusted opinions so I'd avoid touching it with a ten foot pole if I were you.

To be fair, we have exchanges named after mythical creatures(Kraken, UniSwap) and literal food(Sushi, PancakeSwap). :P

But yea, I wouldn't be comfortable using an exchange with a domain that's x-grape.io. Probably any competent entrepreneur would know that using such domain(with an x and a dash) is a bad idea.

It's been a while I saw a URL with a hyphen between letters, it makes it a bit more difficult for the users and could be a reason for the reduced visibility, Regardless;

Never heard of it before and can't seem to find any reviews
This of itself is already a red flag and enough reason to stay away from the exchange, especially if they do not offer any unique service that's lacking on other exchanges. If they request personal information, that is another huge red flag

Scam exchange sites generally don't use public promotions to avoid negative reviews, they won't even bother to create social media accounts. What they do is persuade the victim through private messages.
To further convince op that this site should be avoided in addition to the above warnings, please see the registrar status:

Then, plagiarize from another exchange (currently the site can't be reached, I just suspect that both belong to the same person).

I am not sure if x-grape.io is legitimate, but I can only suggest you try by yourself and only use small money to test. But if you want to buy the coin or token that is not listed on the other big exchange, you can deposit some money to your account in that exchange, buy the coin or token, and send it into another wallet. If you can do that, maybe that will be safer for you as you do not keep the coin or token in that exchange so if something worst happens, you still have that coin or token.

But if you want to trade daily or weekly, I suggest you use Binance because that exchange has a big list of coins and tokens and you will be satisfied by using that exchange. Or you can use the Decentralized Exchange beside Binance so you can avoid verifying your account.

Is your "friend" a part of their team or something? I don't understand why an end-user would promote them so hard. Referral reward doesn't sound that appealing. I don't think you should test the water with an exchange like this. You'll waste your time. Just use reputable exchanges, why risk your data and money just to get some arbitrage opportunity on a new and shady (if not scam) exchange.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot them. At least they have some representative icons but I visited Grape Global (the domain in question) and didn't find any grapes or anything of the sort :p

Most probably it's the hyphen that negatively affected their SEO + lack of promotional activities.

if you are in doubt, better to just avoid it. it's not worth risking your personal information or your money(if you ever decided to deposit in it) on an exchange that almost no one knows about. also, the fact that the person you met keeps insisting that you register is suspicious.

I'm judging based on the name and I feel like it's kind of a stupid name for an exchange, it sounds like there wasn't any thinking behind the name plus as some people pointed out in the thread, it sounds like there's no user reviews to back up the claim regarding the site and that can be a red flag because there's no experience shared for other users to support the credibility of the site. Follow the advice from @UserU, avoid it as much as possible.

If you met that person online or he is not a close friend of yours that you trust then you should ignore him.
There is nothing special about this exchange, so why did he insist to invite you to use it! It has been operating for almost a year (accordong to the domain creation date) and it's not even listed on coinmarketcap.
There are too many red flags and personally I would never use this exchange. It's simply not worth the risk.
