Title: Tired Of Spam Messages On Discord?
Post by: libert19 on August 05, 2021, 02:15:18 AM
— Go to settings ( Sidebar >> Click on your avatar) >> privacy and safety >> Disable "Allow direct messages from server members"

— It will show you a pop up asking if you want this setting affect your existing servers, it's preference but giving yes is recommended.

— If you are tired of friend requests from people you don't know, there is setting just down below labeled 'Who can add you as friend' - disable each one. They can still send you request with your unique discord tag.

Note: This is mobile app settings, there might be some difference on other platforms.

Yes, I often join some projects in discord. Some crooks in my talent group will add me. Then send me a message saying that I have received a few bitcoin rewards, but a series of operations are required.

This is really rubbish than the lowest level of telecommunications fraud. I guess almost no one will be deceived.

..I guess almost no one will be deceived.

Unfortunately many do, there is always a new fish to fish.

I am curious about how they would swindle my money or my information.

I received this message a month ago.

I clicked on the website he mentioned, it already showed an error.According to that person’s description, this seems to be an exchange link.

I regret that I did not open it in time. So I can’t see what his scam looks like.Maybe I missed 0.57 BTC(just kidding)

I see two possibilities, one they would ask for deposit before you can withdraw. Second, the exchange/wallet inks they gave would be phishing sites and they expect you to enter your real details there.

丢了我的朋克和一堆 ETH (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5352574.0)

Maybe this is an example, the website asks for your seed key.

One possible way is by doing what you did next.

Since it is possible for a malware to enter your system by simply clicking on a link, I guess it is best to just disregard or delete any spam message bearing free gifts. Sometimes, to question an obvious scam how is it a scam or in what way could it scam could actually bring you closer to becoming a victim. A giveaway amounting to 0.57BTC is enough for you to dismiss everything as pure waste of time.

Maybe one or two out of 10,000 fish can catch the bait. This is a process of quantitative change and qualitative change.

<…>
The wording shown in the message you received, is very similar to the one shown here:
https://theonlinedatingscams.com/quckbit-com-is-a-scam-to-steal-bitcoin/

The case depicts that, as one would expect in cases similar to these, the user is eventually asked to deposit 0,01 BTC (or some other alternatives) in order to withdraw the alleged quantity being handed out through the giveaway. Same modus operandi, different site (probably one of a family of sites doing the same).

Here it also depicts similar cases, naming AreaX… as one of a wide array of similar sites, with at least 50 siblings …: https://spamreports.report

This is the most typical scam. There is also a scam that allows you to actively enter the seed key. I once wanted to trade through bakeryswap and clicked the first link in Google search. Its page is exactly the same as the official website, except that there is an extra place to enter the seed key. I almost entered my seed. Liars are really everywhere

Thank you for this one Sir, I wasn't aware it could be blocked. Discord is a great tool and I use it for many years now, but I am on so many different servers that is hard to know where exactly all the spam messages are coming from. I am getting messages for trading tips, new casinos, and just outright virus websites. Blocking all these messages in the future will be very helpful.
