Title: T17 Fan Replace Error! :'(
Post by: kritment on September 18, 2021, 04:24:02 AM
Hey Guys,
Would appreciate your help and guidance.
I changed a couple of fans on this T17 miner, before the change it was working fine (just the fans were noisy.) Now that I have added new fans, I am getting the following error would appreciate any help and support. All the 4 fans are showing RPM, not sure why the system is saying only 3 their. When I turn the miner on all the new fans are running. See pastebin link below

Again, thanks for the help in advance. :'(
Thanks

Are you sure you placed the new fans in the right direction? please post images of the new fans you installed, make sure the plugs are visible, also seeing all fan spin does not mean all of them are actually working, the airflow of 1 fan can move the other which will give you a false signal.

This is an abnormal status did you put all fans I mean 4 fans?

As you said you added a new fan so it means you put 4 fans in your unit?
If you put all fans on a single unit then that logs are right but since you are using stock firmware 4 fans won't work because Bitmain firmware only works on 2 fans and also possible the fan that you bought doesn't give a signal to the control board that is why you get error fan. You could flash it with mod firmware that could bypass fan check.

If I can allow myself, this is strongly discouraged!

use firmware that circumvents the problem ... ok, but how long will it run? when have known the problem of reliability of the series 17, if in addition cheating, and that the fan does not work correctly, then there will be a local overheating, and it is the failure assured!

I strongly advise against it.

Really? the T17 uses 4 fans, by "added" it's clear that he means he replaced an old fan with a new fan not randomly installed a new fan and mounted it in the middle of nowhere.

I agree, I am also against ignoring a critical issue like a lost fan, it's just a recipe for disaster IMO, chances are the fans he installed are bad, the signal wire is missing or he positioned the fan backward, fans need to be blowing air in the SAME direction pointing to the opposite direction of the LAN plug whether they are intake or exhaust.

Well, I agree but it's just a suggestion if he doesn't want to spend again to buy a new fan again bypassing its fan check would let him mine stable.

What I think is he might be bought the same intake fan or same exhaust fan?

The blue wire should be the signal for RPM speed? Unless if it's a different model.
The yellow wire would be a signal if the fan is attached?
Since the miner detected it but it show 6000 RPM then the blue wire is not connected properly or it might be cut and no connection.

Hi All,
Thanks for the replies and guidance.
I put a new fan in and made sure it is connected with the blue wire facing the right way
It worked.
Thanks
