Title: Give this bitcoin test...
Post by: aysg76 on September 23, 2021, 11:05:32 AM
As we all know that bitcoin is becoming quite a intersting topic these days due to all the news ,high profits and latest trend among the people due to which many wants to learn and invest in it. But those who have made up account on bitcointalk forum have reached a heaven where you can learn a lot of things about bitcoin and other crypto related stuffs.

But when you join the forum with newbie account you might be familiar with bitcoin working or not but you can have some prior knowledge about it and for this I am gonna advice you take this test for small help in your knowledge enhancement as newbie regarding bitcoin :

BITCOIN TEST (https://thebitcoinexam.involve.me/beta)

This is really good test setup for people who wants to know about bitcoin and be familiar with it's working. It contains 50 questions which cover questions related to various topics like :

1)Blockchain
2)Bitcoin Mining
3) Economics
4) Bitcoin Working
5) Others

So if you are newbie or familiar with bitcoin try giving the test and you would come to know how much you know and where you lag behind. You can then work upon such topics where your answers were wrong and gain knowledge about them in detail later on. This is little help for you to enhance your knowledge and self evaluation of your bitcoin knowledge. This forum will teach you a lot no doubt but you can try learning on your own also with such knowledge giving tests and other things.

See this is not a competition or anything which you will be rewarded but just your self evaluation so don't try to cheat by giving the test again and again as this will not help you a lot in the long run. So best is to give the test on your own without any google search or any help and then note down the points where you was wrong and work on them.

Purpose of this thread:  My main aim is that you can gain some knowledge and be familiar with some basic parts of bitcoin and blockchain with this test as you will have to give answers and you will gain knowledge from it and the post quality is enhanced on the forum. So if you are willing to learn something the surely give it a try otherwise leave it.

Rules for posting the results here:

1) As a newbie you would not be able to post image so just copy BBcode link for image uploaded to image hosting site like Imgur or imgbb and paste the link in your post

2) You don't need to edit the post once you have posted the results to avoid any cheating so give it once only.

3) Post the screenshot of only results not the full page.

4) Junior and above rank members can post screenshot with [img height=200]

I am not a merit source so my smerits are limited but still will try to give to members scoring good in the test but remember if you cheat you will gain 1 merit but no knowledge so just know the difference and do better for yourself. This test is not limited to newbies only and other members can also give it a shot if they want to check their bitcoin knowledge. So best of luck to all the members.

Here's your score: 48 / 50

That was interesting to take.
I failed on the questions that were not really about Bitcoin, but economics, generally speaking. Like which entity owns most of the USD debt or something like that.

You cheat!  ;D

It's good to see a other bitcoin questions though there are some questions that is all about economics like GDP and more. This is similar to soliton's crossword puzzle which I also enjoyed answering. About this one, if you are correct or wrong there is a small pop-up showing some note like a percent of people use bitcoin in criminal activitie. Couldn't believe that I made such score :) maybe it's luck not sure I am that knowledge but who knows. I would prefer to use this to help educate those who are interested to learn about bitcoin and economics related topics. Thanks for sharing this.

Great test! It's been a while since the last time someone posted a bitcoin quiz in the forum.

that was a surprise. I never really thought I'd get past 35 correct answers let alone 41 correct answers(I did get some lucky guesses though)

There's nothing wrong to take the test again in my opinion since it's a way to learn things you haven't learned. At least you tried your best when you take the test for the first time. Keep learning until you achieve your goal. Anyway, i'll give you a merit because of it. It's up to op if you will receive another merit when you retake the test. Good luck. - nakamura12  8)

You can try the test as many times you like until you feel satisfactory but the main point is don't post the results here again just for 1 merit as this test was not for it and just to increase your knowledge.

Great one for newbie to start with and to have further research to learn more although it was a tough one for some questions for my too. However, I managed to get the "MERIT" 40. Few were silly mistakes, few were totally out of my knowledge.
I think some questions are biased. I forgot to take screenshot of them, specially the one which have By 2025 at the beginning.

Anyway, it was a good one and here's my score.

So now you know the answers to those which were out of your knowledge and most probably the questions are not biased as they cover different context and provide some basic knowledge to you and some future references which you are saying. But overall it's worth giving a shot.

But just edit the screenshot with img height=200 as it's quite big as per the rules.Enjoy your merit :D

By the way, I doubt that bitcoin had ever had more than a percent or two involved in criminal activities, and sure it would not really be an easy dynamic to measure.. but of course, the mainstream media would have hardly been credible in its historical representations about what is bitcoin or about how bitcoin was supposedly being used... so surely in the reliance upon deceptive mainstream media representations (maybe interviewing a nocoiner or a bitcoin naysayer as if such a person was representative of actual objective knowledge), we may well have concluded that at least 70% of bitcoin's usage was either criminal or had criminal intentions, even if then being used by grandmas.

We have come a long way and it's good to be here.
As @JJG is already mentioned that mainstream media is always busy in criticising bitcoin as they all are central government puppets and will not talk against them and most of the time they talk nonsense stuff. The bitcoin criminal related activities were mostly used in Silk road and dark web as many bitcoins were seized by the FED after the shut down in 2013-14 and were crimes not occuring before that? The hackers and criminals are way smart than normal person and know that bitcoin is pseudo anonymous and can be tracked down by government and preferably not use much of it.The transactions usually takes place face to face with fiat and can banks know which serial number notes are used for such things? Simply no and there are many more reasons to argue on that but we don't really care. The bitcoin is and will be best.

Thanks for arranging such an exam. I am week in mining, proof of work,  hash rate related question. But I learn something from this test.
Not everyone's is perfect in each field and your economic and bitcoin section is strong. Moreover learning is continuing phase so best wishes to you for that.

I am not really sure how much of it is true but when I read about it on the internet around 2 years ago they said that the bitcoins used for criminal activities accounted for a 40% in the beginning.
Since then the bitcoin usage for criminal activities has decreased to less than 10%.

But anyway, it's good to see that the number has decreased to less than 1%. I think most of the credit for it goes to the traders and investors.

It seems to me that you are starting with a bad framework in the first place to even presume that the criminal element rate in bitcoin has come down at all.  In other words, the criminal rate in bitcoin was likely never high, but only a myth spread by bitcoin naysayers and nocoiners... and they can fuck off with their nonsense.

I will grant that regarding greater and greater adoption, we have likely gotten more and more mainstream usage of bitcoin; however, bitcoin still remains a pretty damned niche item - and not very widely adopted, and also not very widely able to be used.  Of course, there are some niches in which bitcoin is able to be used more and likely to be adopted more because of such usage - which would include some of the happenings in El Salvador with the greater abilities to send and receive with hardly any fees - and also some various incentive creations (even through the El Salvador government) to attempt to get bitcoin used more and more easily.

I would like to make one more point in terms of trying to compare bitcoin with the usage of cash, and we know that the anonymity of cash allows it to be used in various crimes, yet on a personal level, it seems to me to be much more preferable to have the ability to use cash - because privacy is important, and there are a variety ways that there are attempts to vilify cash and even our own behaviors have been to use cash less and less and less, so in those regards, we have been using more and more of our privacy - and surely any kinds of moves of central bank digital currencies are not going to have abilities to preserve privacy like cash does... but bitcoin does have those abilities, which also makes it more of an amazing phenomena in terms of the preservation of privacy.

Maybe it is worth pointing out that focusing on increases or decreases in bitcoin being used in criminal endeavors is likely a pretty damned BIG ASS distraction - because I personally believe that it remains way more important to focus on ways to enhance, enable and preserve privacy rather than getting trapped in some kind of false dilemmas, including desires for less criminal activities, in which your focus on such vague concepts  likely causes you to under appreciate more important values in regards to privacy and being able to have some freedoms that are associated with privacy without having to necessarily presume that so many people are bad and causing losses of freedoms to a lot of normies who deserve to live with various ways to enjoy privacy in their value transactions.. without being presumed a criminal merely because they want privacy and they value privacy and they want the same for other people to be able to enjoy and have available means to transact with privacy.

The reasons is the results people are seeing is just an false ratio spread by the fake articles and comparing it with criminal related activities to divert users from knowing the true picture behind the bitcoin. You simply google fiat related crimes and you will see million dollars fund transfer.Bitcoin was never used by criminals for illicit activities on large scale after the shut down of Silk Road but still many are living in delusional world where btc is portrayed as negative currency. But if we check in deep we would find all these are rumours to cover the inflationary fiat by mainstream media and government.

Damn, this quiz took 10 minutes of my time and there were lots of financial jargons.

One mistake made on the first question itself because I thought the 'Next' button would evaluate my answer :P

Here is my final result:

https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/12/txOcj.jpeg

I honestly, thought I would do better but the test wasn't easy. I didn't expect such a strong focus on monetary terms and policies. I had to guess some of it, especially the questions that involved statistics.

I will recommend this test to members in my local community. It was fun!

Sure you should recommend such mind boggling test to your local community and make them familiar with such questions that could unlock their mind powers and open more knowledge doors for them. They will surely like the test and happy that members are scoring good even in economics related questions.

I did the test as well, but forgot to take screenshot. Maybe even better as I scored 36/50, which is quite embarrassing, seeing how others performed. Those economy questions completely ruined my score, as I was almost randomly choosing answers and didn't have much luck, and on top of that I made several stupid mistakes due hastiness and not properly reading all the answers.

At least I learned couple of new things, so can't say I wasted those ~10 minutes it took me to finish the test.

So well spent 10 minutes for learning something new.Not only you many other's lag in the economy related questions but at the last you know them if you try to read and understand them thoroughly. You still pass the test and that's not embarrassing at all man.It was for self evaluation not to compare your results with others. If this would be my goal then i would have made toppers chart for this test but this is for knowledge.

So far many members have scored well in this test and others who don't Just don't think it was competition but a test for your knowledge only and you could possibly have a chance to learn of which you were not aware of.So keep trying.

They are easy to moderate ranging from different sections and if you read them thoroughly you will understand them also for further knowledge.

The ongoing discussion was about criminal activities concerning bitcoin which is indeed in the test for all of us and it's fair to discuss about it and we can't call it derailing from the topic.

Many needs improvement in terms of learning as we all are not perfect but we must admit that and keep on learning and that's the main thing we should do.So always remember learning is continuous process.

~snip~
Hey man don't repost your test results again with better score as this is violation of the rules listed in the @OP which you should have a look at first.Speaking frankly give this test as many times you want to ensure your correct your mistakes but don't post each time for merit as this is not done for that.

~snip~
Please read the rules to make image adjustment as it has said so many times in this thread. It is necessary to read all the rules rather than just posting the screenshot of the test.So it will be appreciated if you could manage to take out some time to read first of all so that you can post accordingly.

By the way why they need to convince you with high scores as this was not any competition in which you are judging the members based on their score?

I have said earlier also in the @OP guidelines that
remember if you cheat you will gain 1 merit but no knowledge so just know the difference and do better for yourself.

I smell black smokes  :-\
So you also promote 1xbit which is more smoky than this but i don't want to derail the topic so don't unnecessary quote the results of members to say that results are fake because this is just a helpful test for members and rest they know good or bad for them.

Quite surprised when this forum user know how to adjust width and height but didn't follow your rules that image of the test result that only height should be adjust. In short, know how to change the size but did not follow the rule you stated. Why not give this forum user a chance correct his/her mistake. What I think with this situation is that some didn't even read the entire OP and that cause to not follow the rules.

These tricky questions help us to think deeply and know what we don't know.If your answer was wrong it doesn't mean you have no knowledge but think of it as opportunity to learn it now.We all are in learning phase but only few keep doing it.

So with you quoting all of the posts will prove they have cheated in the test? Don't unnecessary quote all of them as this test is self analysis one not to top the charts as i have said before also so it would be better if you stop doing these things. The game is not to reveal the truth that one cheated or not so it's better to leave on them.I have shared it with you all so that you can have knowledge but if you cheat the loss is yours not mine. The forum has long journey and every member knows quality post will take them ahead so leave on them and don't do these things.

As per @OP rules a Ss is required as valid proof for your test refrence on this thread and you have passed the test with not final score but have gained knowledge in the last which is most important part.

Learning and practiced gets you a better results.

That's how you gain knowledge by learning and keep evolving yourself with new types of crypto especially bitcoin exposure and that will help you to share more with others and succeed in this market.

You only need 30 activity to reach junior rank as you have now 2 merits with you and you will be able to post images on the forum by uploading them on any image hosting site by pasting the BBcode of the image.Best wishes ahead.

No need to thanks me or anyone for the merit because they are given when you deserve it and you have earned them like the rest. It's good that you want to test your knowledge and learn from your mistakes but don't take it as pressure and answer according to what your mind think about it and later on if it's incorrect try to find out how you lag behind in that and keep on the process. If you are dedicated one day you will be the one guiding others about bitcoin stuff.

You should have read the rules which says SS is must for merit but yes i know that retaking the test will definitely improve the score as you already know the answers and you don't want to go that way and i appreciate that. But still will look that what i can do.

It depends upon our perspective and this test was shared just for the learning purpose and to gain some new knowledge of which many maybe are unaware but we all are not the same and you don't like it is completely on you as you don't find any answers correct and find it boring but for others it was fun.So different approaches for our goals.

You have earned all your merits with through the threads by high rank members which are aimed at helping low rank members like one's of @Ognasty and @Ratimov and managed to gain 12 merits till now which is good but you don't seem to be compatible with the rules as you have done here also in hope of earning merit. You have posted full size screenshot and not even crop it and moreover you are junior member and you can make image readjustments as stated in @OP for this test.Try reading the rules first of all as you have also conducted the same mistake as others so avoid such things which will help you grow on forum.

All thanks. Well.. meriting me isn't much of a big deal for me as I'm still very new to the system but I'm very much grateful for it as it also contributes to user's performance, so it's a step up for me. Basically all I wanna focus on now is to navigate round the forum and skill-up my knowledge about the crypto space. The test was strict i have to take the test two times and I'm glad to take this test because i learn some questions i never even think i can come across, get some knowledge to my brain.
Here is the link hope am really good.
Actually this test was supposed to work another way like you can give the test as many times you want to get satisfied with the answers and to have a detailed look over them but initially you can't give it more and more times to have better results to post them here as you already knew the answer to your past mistakes.Hope you understand my point. The screenshot posted here should be of first attempt only and then you could give it as many times you want for yourself. But still i don't want to demotivate you or any other but keep this in mind as it will help you.

All thanks. Well.. meriting me isn't much of a big deal for me as I'm still very new to the system but I'm very much grateful for it as it also contributes to user's performance, so it's a step up for me. Basically all I wanna focus on now is to navigate round the forum and skill-up my knowledge about the crypto space. However, It'd be much appreciated if you could help set up more test like this or something relatively more similar to this.

Thanks as you help
The merit was given on your test performance not as any gift because it was given to many who scored well in the test. But it's good that you prefer skills over the merit and want to explore the forum for more exposure and learn from other members. You could easily find many of these test/riddles/puzzles here on B&H section on which you can try your luck and moreover will gain knowledge to learn. You could also have a look on this guide by me to learn some posting techniques :

But take them into consideration for learning and apart from them there are many good guides which can help you to grow on forum if you are passionate and dedicated towards it.These are some test for entertainment and knowledge purposes but also look for detailed technical and non technical guides for your help which could enhance your knowledge. There is very good one from @fillippone : 5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156874.0)

Coming back on topic till this all participants have done good job and hope more members took advantage of this and learn something new. ;)

This test was made with similar intentions to some extent but not only newbies as you can see many members have jumped into giving the test because we all want to gain additional knowledge from where we can get it as learning is never ending process.

You can also try to give it a touch and check what you know about and came to know something new about Bitcoin and market as a whole to give you a fresh start and boost on the forum. You don't need to score high to compete with others and just make yourself clear about the idea about the questions in the test and whatever the results are.Just note down the incorrect ones and try to understand the question.

But still you managed to score pretty well which also reflects the true picture that how much you are aware of these questions and have knowledge about them but we all have some deficiency which can be improved with practice and dedication to learn but you have done good man ;)

Yes this thread is the real for the Bitcoin test posted by @nakamura12 and he have quoted my post from the @OP as giveaway thread and it's fine as the main purpose is to read and encounter with all such real life bitcoin related questions and be familiar with them. This thread was made with similar intentions and merits just serve as booster to our efforts as a reward. So keep exploring more and more as learning and gaining knowledge has no limits remember.

Bumping for the new members who might want to have a look at it and gain some merits if they wish to do so along with gaining knowledge also ;)

Just give it a shot and hope you all will get some good points from it and don't compete as competition as this is self knowledge booster so take it that way.

Must follow the rules as well.

This test is still open for all the members and hoping some newbies and low rank member took advantage of this test to gain merits on secondary basis but the primary goal is that you all learn some new things from this test which could help you to acquire further knowledge and that will help you to make better post at some point.

So try this once and mark your mistakes.

This test helps a lot for newbies/ low rank even high ranks to test their knowledge about cryptocurrencies.
When I taking the test ill encountered many words about crypto that I did not know before but after the test and do some research I'll learned many things especially in bitcoins.
You will learn at the same time you will get merit.

That is the beauty of learning that you suddenly become familiar with all the terms that you have never heard before and now you also have the information about the same to tell others about it.If we are not interested in learning new things then it wouldn't benefit us in the long run and through this test I will say you could enhance your knowledge a little bit if not too much. The merits are just given as appreciation on taking the test and scoring good but if you cheat for merits then it's your loss not mine.

I like this test. Thank you to the poster. I did the test one time and this is my score. I know I have known many things about bitcoin since I begin to read about bitcoin. My problem now is the technical part. I don't think that what I score is all because of my knowledge. I always have luck or talent to answer correctly any question that has options.

Can we have next episode of this question. As more episode is coming the more difficult.
Question number 18.
What is Taproot upgrade?
The answer is simple than what Taproot upgrade is all about. And some answer also look like it has two correct answers in one question. I did guess work like 9 times and I was lucky 7 times.

Good to know you liked the test and your results are really good as you have passed it with flying colours and if it's first time results then you already know quite a lot of stuff about bitcoin whether economical and other general.See technical knowledge can be upgraded with time if you have dedication to learn it and this forum is great source for the same. But if still you need help read Mastering Bitcoin by Andreas Antonopoulos which is of great help

There are some confusions but only one of them is correct and see you were lucky in 7 of them so you scored 41 and the rest are of being lucky only ;D.But still good and try to learn more of this stuff which will help you later on in having adequate bitcoin and crypto market knowledge.

Yes i know sometimes we don't know the exact answers to some of the questions but luckily the option we select is correct but remember the best part is to go in detail of that particular question to know how it was right or say get the knowledge of regarding that thing where you were wrong or don't know the answers at all.

The reward or your merit has been given to you as i completely forget to give it yesterday as human mind is also prone to errors  :D but best is to correct them.Good work and keep up the pace of increasing your knowledge and posting on the forum.

This test is a good way to get started with your knowledge about bitcoin if you are a beginner.
This test is only showing you the information about bitcoin and with that also a beginner will know a little about bitcoin, but from another way, the test can not give you total information of bitcoin but it will persuade you to go deep to know things of bitcoin that is foreign to you exactly, but some one have to test it ability after reading any article weather bitcoin or other motivational books, to check if those things read has stick to memory

Yes you are right mate this community, is a source of knowledge some older Members/high Ranks members like you created many threads to guide or to discuss bitcoins and related crypto currencies. but not just older members the are few new members here but knowledgeable enough shared their knowledge and makes some thread. Being a new unknowledgeable person if you came here for sure you will feel something good and know more about many discussion.

Your rank on the forum will never decide how much knowledge you have because there are so many hero and legendary members who have no knowledge about Bitcoin and crypto market as a whole and continuing their shill posting. They attained that rank when merit system was introduced in 2018 and were unable to rise afterwards as merits will be given only if you are worthy of it.

This is best discussion forum where ranks are mere formality and your knowledge is that will take you ahead and how much willing you are learn new things. There are so many new members who have contributed well enough over short time and managed to accumulate more merits than their current rank. This is all possible with exchange of knowledge and ability to learn.

As i have already said learning is continuous and evolving process and this test is just a formal introduction to the Bitcoin environment with those 50 questions covering some aspects like technical, non technical and economic aspects also. But you need to have more and more knowledge with time that will help you.

You are right and I think that the merit system or Airdrop merits, it is a big impact to this community cause what you've said above there are many Hero Members/Legendaries Members who've not knowledgeable enough about crypto currencies and especially Bitcoins. That's why some newbies who knowledgeable enough overtake their merits counts or Rank here in forum. But I am thankful that many User like you have not stop sharing their knowledge/give some test to know how far our knowledge is. I think must be better if this test have a volume2 in order to test again and its okay that you would not give some merits cause the important is to know how far our knowledge in Bitcoins or in related cryptocurrencies.

Merit system has helped stop spam posting to some extent but not completely because there are still many members who still keep up that way of sharing irrelevant knowledge and useless stuff which is termed as spam post but the biggest advantage of merit system is it hinders them to rank up on forum. The secondary motive is to select members in signature campaigns that are deserving because most of their conditions is earned some merits over the last 120 days and merit can be earned with quality posts only.

But i would like to suggest to keep this thread on the track and it's about test only as we can have this discussion somewhere else.Waiting for more responses from members and earn merit as well. This is open to all.

Good you have tried giving the test and answered the few questions you know but i am sure you must have come to know about more information through this test on various aspects.

But i can't give you merit as reward because you have not scored well in the test but will still see if you have some good post in next few days then surely will reward you with 1-2 merits on them so best wishes for future forum journey and remember to increase knowledge by learning as much you can.
