Title: How to explain Bitcoin to Newbies
Post by: Myleschetty on October 22, 2021, 09:30:15 PM
There's a friend about Bitcoin last 2 years who have no interest in it but I was surprised when he came to me last week to tell me what he need to know about Bitcoin. I asked him why the sudden change of heart, he told me about the testimony he hear from someone and how he would have made enough profit effortlessly.

He's still a newbie. My question is, is there a way or link for to explain Bitcoin to newbies?

Apart from the forum rules and regulations is there a thread on this forum that explains in detail the whole concept of crypto currency on this forum?

You can explain to him about:

1. First about scam and how to avoid

2. About decentralized exchanges and how kyc can lead to no privacy

3. About holding

Then about wallet, this link will be helpful about wallet: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.0)

If he is a beginner, you really just have to keep it simple for him.

He's still not interested in Bitcoin with that kind of reason. He just wants to make money. I don't know but you should probably save yourself from the trouble of explaining technical details or basics on the blockchain. Go straight to how to buy BTC and tell the risks of investing.

Bitcoin for beginners by Andreas Antonopoulus videos are quite easy to digest. You can find them on youtube.

I saw this thread also about crypto courses for beginners https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5236933.0

Just tell him that it's not that easy as he thinks just because someone made money from it effortlessly. He should look at how long that guy he knew has been holding bitcoin. Usually, with the sudden change of heart from these people who have ignored bitcoin before, they're actually for the profit, the quick profit! It is what they think but they never know the struggle of how long someone has been holding it and enduring all the dumps and corrections that have gone through. Always tell him if he's fine about knowing bitcoin's volatility and if he's good with that before investing.

Let him read the sticky topics on the Beginners & Help board ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0 )  and after that, he will surely understand what is bitcoin and how it will use. Just basic information, after that, if your friend has an interest he could be able to teach himself.

Another is to explain to your friend the risk and the consequences that are possible ahead. It always has an advantage if you know how bitcoin will use and works. Because bitcoin is not just easy money to earn, you need to have patiently wait once your profit once there.

1. Explain the basics.
2. Show them the whitepaper on what Bitcoin is all about (p2p transactions without 3rd party involved)
3. Tell them about the risk (Scam, frauds, human error on losing wallet etc.)
4. Talk about adoption
5. Talk about the con's of it in terms of investment
6. Tell them about security of their assets

Just tell and stick with the basics and it wont really be that much hard for them to understand.

Depends if he prefers watching or reading, if he likes to read blogs/articles online then this forum is the perfect place for him, there's a board called "Beginners & Help" which can really be helpful for your friend, though if you want to teach him then might as well make it enthusiastic, the forum alone has lots of useful threads for beginners, outside the forum you have platforms like YouTube or Reddit that provides information about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as a whole.

There's no need for too much technicality, just explain Bitcoin the way you want to do it or the usual way of introducing it. You don't need to spoonfeed all the information, just tell the basics or the specific questions that will be asked.

If your friend is really serious about getting involved in Bitcoin, soon his mind will be filled with knowledge automatically.

if his friend is interested in getting into the cryto world, you just need to teach him how to register the market correctly and how to make a deposit and then how to trade. so no need to force things, because it will learn on its own slowly step by step. this way you don't bother him and he

Currently, there are more and more articles that explain what Bitcoin/cryptocurrency is and various things such as its characteristics to efforts that can be made from various sources, especially here, this will find many things related to the advantages of bitcoin over its role, and it has been stated of course with many topics or discussion. Just tell your friend to read a lot here, they will definitely know which one to read and it's impossible for him to be more confused if you are familiar with this forum and explain to him.

I think its good to explain them that Bitcoin is not that easy especially if you don't have enough knowledge about it, so, much better to read and study Bitcoin first before joining cryptocurrency. Must also tell them that you can't earn this without hardwork. Tell them also about the scams and how to avoid it, since it is very important and also about decentralized exchanges and about holding. Must tell them also to be patient in everything they did. There's a lot of websites that can possibly explain those newbies about Bitcoin further, that's why they need to have research skills.

If you're expecting a detailed lesson, I'll point them to the Bitcoin Wiki (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Help:FAQ) site to learn, I think it's a complete bitcoin library that explains it in a simple and beginner friendly (understandable) way.

Many beginners fail to enter crypto because the teacher's mistake is to give too many references that he doesn't really want to know like, what are altcoins with hundreds of different mechanisms.

He might be hearing only good things about Bitcoin investment especially during this ATH so you must also tell him the risks of it. Some people see Bitcoin as a shortcut to success but if you'll tell him that it isn't as easy as what he thinks, he might have a proper mindset before entering it. It needs patience and courage so he better be ready emotionally and financially because Bitcoin is too volatile. Also, he needs to do his own research continuously for him to know how to deal with the market.

Tell him that if he is investing in bitcoin because he heard that someone made "profit very easily", then he shouldn't invest in bitcoin or any crypto currencies. He should know that bitcoin won't make him rich overnight. Let him know that crypto currency investments are long term investment. Since he is a newbie, he doesn't need to know how the blockchain or bitcoin works. Just show or teach him how to send/receive bitcoin, how to store it securely and some basics. That would be enough. If he is really interested in bitcoin, we will learn the rest eventually.

If your friend is an adult and understands using the internet, don't bother explaining it in detail. just explain the basics and don't explain too much about the advantages and benefits of a good bitcoin because it makes your friends too excited to do it.
I personally prefer to explain the risks and losses when involved with bitcoin because it will make him more careful and also aware of the risks and losses that must be known and studied well.
then if there is a question related to bitcoin just give an accurate and appropriate link to the question and most importantly he wants to read it well, if he is serious he will do well without you having to explain it and also arrange everything because if something goes wrong he can't blame You.
there are many ways to find out and learn what is needed about bitcoin or other crypto on the internet, you tube and so on and it all depends on his efforts.

His friend has the idea to make money effortlessly by buying BTC, I think that's all he needs to know. He just wants to buy BTC just like the new investors today without having to learn BTC. I don't think his friend is interested to learn about Bitcoin but just to earn, what he needs to learn is trading on a platform.

If I have to teach him about Bitcoin I would just say a few just to spark his interests like BTC has a ledger called blockchain and all transactions we do appears there and that Bitcoin has 21 Million supply only which is why its value is gonna grow bigger every time.  And then give him the link to bitcoin.org

Just tell him to buy Bitcoin or some other coins at least in the top 10 of the CMC ranking and then hold them for some time. Of course, there are things to avoid also like scams, hacks and phishing so one has to be careful with everything. And you can also direct him to this forum and any other good sources online. Now, am not actually surprised why the sudden change of heart of your friend as Bitcoin is now gaining momentum in the mainstream media and the population. In 2022, am seeing more popularity of Bitcoin especially if there would be another country that will adopt BTC as an official tender.

It's not the same as making money using bitcoin. If you only want to learn about bitcoin, you can simply google it or watch one of the many tutorials available on YouTube. There are a variety of ways to earn bitcoin, the most well-known of which is purchasing bitcoin and holding it for a period of time. However, this method is risky and does not guarantee that you will profit. Try trading as well, but be aware that it is still extremely dangerous.

Yeah in that case, you should make an effort to find out why they asked this question. Possible that they have been approached by a ponzi scheme promoter trying to sell their affiliate link like a predator. Those "get-rich-quick" statements point me towards that suspicion, so better to correct their possible misguidance.

I think the best way to do this is through a personal discussion. Talk to them and explain what bitcoin is, use such threads to refresh your own knowledge instead of telling them to read it because in 99% of cases people dont read but they want to listen to someone.  8)

Add in the facts that scams happen in crypto rampantly and there is no check on scammers because they use the pseudo-anonymity provided by crypto to their advantage.

To be honest, I got to know Bitcoin more after being active in this forum, so it's really good to suggest newbies to be active in this forum. Actually
there are many articles scattered on the internet about Bitcoin, but if we are not careful we will get misleading information. The problem is
the newbie will have difficulty filtering the information obtained on the internet, then the best way is to join this forum and read all the topics
about crypto in this forum, if there are those who do not understand can join the discussion in this forum. I believe slowly newbies will understand
how Bitcoin works, and understand how to use Bitcoin.

For beginners there are many things he must know to jump into the world of bitcoin, especially they must be ready to face the risk of every investment or participate in a project, and for beginners must read first every rule in this forum so that he does not violate, most importantly he always wants to ask if there are problems that are being faced in this forum, And to get results, we need patience in investing and following reward projects, because the results we get today are not as easy as we think and we listen to others.

There are a lot of things to learn about Bitcoin, so if he’s going to be asking what Bitcoin is simply all about, is just a peer to peer transaction method. With that said, if he’s talking about investments and how he’s going to go about that, there are a lot of things that he can do in the Bitcoin market: he can choose to be a trader (which is a day trader) or he can just be an investor that would be going long term investments.

Then I think you should make him understand the risks that are involved in investing his money in Bitcoin, because someone might have told him that they earned a lot of money from Bitcoin doesn’t mean that he is also going to make that much within a short time, he will need to have patience and invest what he can afford to risk.

You can introduce this forum to your friend and ask him to read so many good recommendations in every section. You can try to teach him the investment side of cryptocurrency, and don't try trading if he doesn't have an interest in trading.

In investment, you can tell him to buy at a low and keep it for a while and do that constantly every week or month.

But before that, you can ask him what he wants from cryptocurrency. And if he asks you what you get from cryptocurrency, you can teach him based on your experience. That will be the best for him to learn from your experience and build his passion for cryptocurrency.

the first, if the reason he is interested in the crypto world is because he is tempted by easy profits as said, then you can provide an understanding in advance about the advantages and risks of bitcoin and other crypto. because for new people it is not easy to be able to learn well and be willing to accept the risks that can be obtained if one day he joins the crypto world and finally succumbs to the situation. if he can understand that and wants to continue then you can suggest this forum for him to read first to increase his knowledge.

Be upfront that there's more than meets the eyes here. Just be frank with him that this is not always an easy path to earn profits. He has to know the truth or else, he will have false expectations in this market. A lot of newcomers will come and check about crypto because they have seen the price level in the recent days. But if the price is going down, they may start thinking again about their involvement. What the OP can do is just be honest about his experiences and share his crypto journey, because for sure, it is not all sunshine and roses.

You should explain how to buy, transfer and store Bitcoin. Also you ought to explain all advantages of Bitcoin over fiat money. Maybe he will get interested in defi-projects or in trading so you can tell him about different ways to make money on this market. But don't forget to warn him about scammers and that he mustn't tell anybody his passwords and seed phrases.

YouTube is now not a great source of learning about bitcoin because they are not educating you about the true working of bitcoin but are busy on promotion and earnings and that's why they will talk nonsense about bitcoin as they just want to make video and have no knowledge. So that's why it's hard to trust what you see on internet but on forum you can have true and accurate information which you can share with others also.

It's dangerous when people get into Bitcoin just because they want to profit from it. I think explaining how Bitcoin is different from fiat and CBDCs is a good start, but then you should mention that most places don't accept Bitcoin as payment yet. Then you can show the price chart, so that the person can see that Bitcoin's value does grow over time. But don't forget to draw attention to bear markets as well, so that the person realizes that his investment can decrease by half or even more and stay like that for a few years. And then, once the risks are acknowledged, you can talk about scams, wallets and other things mentioned in the thread.

He's still not interested in Bitcoin with that kind of reason. He just wants to make money. I don't know but you should probably save yourself from the trouble of explaining technical details or basics on the blockchain. Go straight to how to buy BTC and tell the risks of investing.

I have yet to meet a real-life person who was interested in Bitcoin for anything other than making money the easy way, which is a kind of philosophy that runs through the internet and the stories of those who got rich by investing a few hundred dollars, and today they have millions. I, on the other hand, have made a decision before that I will not help anyone to invest in BTC or any altcoin, until that person understands the basics, and proves that he is capable of being his own bank.

You should do everything possible to prevent anyone in your life from blaming you for anything negative that can happen after a friend or acquaintance invests in cryptocurrencies. The Internet is full of completely free knowledge, and those who are not able to find that knowledge are, in most cases, not ready to possess something as sensitive and volatile as Bitcoin.

On the forums are not completely honest sharing, sometimes there are a lot of layers of anonymity and use their languages to arouse more suspicion in the community for their cause and maybe a project they are behind, those are decoys to lure people without news sources into going in the wrong direction. Youtube can gather a lot of meaningless videos and have components that are established and shared to make money advertising but there are also quite a few individuals who aim for a professional channel and support users, newbies can choose to follow channels with high engagement

Actually there are lots of questions about teaching a beginner to get to know Bitcoin, but before that, he must first know what the purpose of knowing Bitcoin is, whether he wants to invest in Bitcoin or how.

I think if you want to tell a newbie to get to know Bitcoin and you tell him how to transact using Bitcoins to him then you can explain how to store Bitcoins and send Bitcoins and then you explain how to invest with Bitcoin or other like Altcoins. From there he would surely understand how he could learn all that.

The answer that often arises is to read material about crypto. But I think it seems boring, especially for beginners who are not used to things like that. Their minds must be focused on quick profits. But there is no need to worry because as time goes on new ideas are also emerging, now there are many tricks to play crypto in the form of videos or images on several social media. This can be a step in explaining crypto to newbies.

I asked him why the sudden change of heart, he told me about the testimony he hear from someone and how he would have made enough profit effortlessly.

Be careful here, this user is only interested in the quick money and you need to clear him on this before he goes on the wrong part. First make him understand Bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme were you get rich overnight. Here you profit by holding for years. Some lucky individual gamble and get lucky when the price of Bitcoin is about to rise or pick some so to hyped altcoins and those are the people making others believe they can do the same.

If he joins this community with this mindset and gets unlucky he will get scammed or lose heavily.  Profiting from Bitcoin takes patience, let him get in when everyone is panicking and hold through the storm (corrections) and in future he will be among those celebrating.

I feel like as much as the essence of Bitcoin, its potential benefits and opportunities that comes along it, safety precautions must be discussed with the newbies. It is crucial that everything is thoroughly discussed to someone new with Bitcoin because it can be overwhelming especially that many misleading information can be directed into their way which can result to some bad experience.

no need to find thread or forum for it if you really want to help him to know what's bitcoin and what are the benefits that he can get from it. I mean you don't need to explain it by your self.. Infact what's the use of Internet? .. Fyi a million of people talking about cryptos since it obtained attention around the globe and until now wherein the price really too high. so for sure even you're just using a simple keywords you can easily find some source and interesting topic about cryptos especially bitcoin.. It's so easy to introduce nowadays mate to be honest , but just refer them which is the most easiest way to obtain more information.  ;)

This forum is indeed a great place for people to learn/share thoughts about bitcoin or the crypto environment, still youtube isn't totally bad, though. Its all depends on which channel we decide to follow in order to learn bitcoin, there some good channel that sharing great contents such as aantonop's channel. The thing is it might be hard if someone just leans on youtube solely, not to mention in case s/he faces some case which hard to understand and no one on his side to answer its queries.

a lot of new people today who want to get to know bitcoin from the start, are only interested in trading. I saw it in some of my friends and relatives who asked me.
their focus is on trading, not on its development and use.
to introduce a very simple trade, of course, we can see some YouTubers. especially for some youtube accounts of exchange platforms that provide demos. that's very helpful.

Every crypto greenhorn (novice/newbie) who had approached me about Bitcoin had come with the intention of making money from it. They come like this, "Ahem, I heard there's something called Bitcoin and I heard people are making a LOT (they always stress that part) of money from it." It's always that pattern they come with. Now, I have developed that mindset that every newbie has the intention of profiting from Bitcoin. The tech aspect is always a secondary concern to them. So, I make it a point of duty to explain Bitcoin to any that comes my way by letting them know that nothing good comes easy. I warn them that Bitcoin isn't a Ponzi or a Get Rich Quick Scheme and that people also lose money dealing on it too the same way they could make money from it. At that point, if they still show interest I then commence lecturing them. Otherwise, I end it there. Now isn't the time to dwell on wasted efforts. A lot of these supposedly newbies were a part of those FUDding about Bitcoin a few years ago when they strongly believed it was a bubble.

With the price of Bitcoin reaching new ATH twice this year, of course attracting the attention of many people,  there will definitely be many new

really want to know Bitcoin, they usually want to be able to make a profit from Bitcoin. Not to use it as payment, so we can suggest newbies to
learn trading or investment can be from reading various articles on the internet, or they can also make it easier to understand, they can watch

If newbie still don't understand, newbie can join the discussion in the forum, later many high rank members will help.

Well for starters, you can refer to him this forum so he can utilize the search bar if there are any questions that he might ask. Another thing, I would refer to this video since it explained cryptocurrencies using real-life applications. It is very informative as it covered subjects on the blockchain, ledgers, nodes, etc.

What the video did not tackle are the issues revolving around BTCs. Remember that due to its anonymity, it may be used as a currency for illegal transactions under the dark web. But the internet will be your material as there are tons of videos/threads explaining BTC to newbies.

If there are people who want to learn about the crypto world, the most important thing we have to explain is about the risks that must be faced when they are already in this forum or by investing, because everyone is interested in learning crypto because they have seen the results shown. get very big on other people but they don't know how hard and time we have struggled, and for beginners reading every article about crypto it is also very important so that when we explain how to get results he is easy to respond.

Actually explaining about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to newbies is not an easy task, you must observe patience while doing it, especially if the person has no knowledge about the internet and computer functions, Im always encountered that problem in my country, and they always back to me and ask about it even in the night time which is a hassle, in my opinion, I already give them the important link to visit and other useful information as a guide to learn but still, they want to try in actual that's why I have no choice but to teach them in actual one by one.

It's great to know that your friend is now interested on bitcoin. Given that crypto in general has a not so good reputation because of the scams and schemes.

Usually, the newbies are really enticed by the testinomies they have heard personally or seen on the Internet. It gives them the courage and driving force to follow the footsteps to gain profit just as much as the people they notice who are into crypto. by having that as a reason has its two sides of the coin. First, he will be successful because of the knowledge he will gain along the way of discovering and understanding bitcoin. The other one will be failure which could happen if he will not take note and execute the important things needed.

Since you know about his reason now, you should introduce him to the basics and fundamentals. Let him know and explore the nature of crypto. Tell him how it works in layman's term and let him do his own research. Tell him about the basic rules that could save him big time such as "invest what you can only afford to lose" and "buy low, sell high". Aside from that, let him reassess how long he will be staying in our community, will he be here for the long term or short term? By identifying that he will know what will suit him best as an investor.

Educate and give him awareness as well about the frauds, scams, and hacking. It's essential to know how to distinguish and avoid such to make sure your funds is secured enough. I hope I gave beneficial insights to you and to your friend. Looking forward for his official joining as an investor in crypto.

Since your friend is familiar with the name of Bitcoin since you already tried to convince as you said, so it shouldn't be tough. But the problem is, he heard others made a profit from Bitcoin and that's the reason why suddenly he become interested in Bitcoin. Although it's not surprising to me, and that's how at the beginning newbies become interested, but they would regret it later if you don't explain about Bitcoin technology and fundamentally how its works. Try to explain first how decentralized cryptocurrency works and how price becomes volatile where he might get profit or he might lose money as well. I this is the right way to explain.

Bitcoin is decentralized digital cash that eliminates the need for intermediaries like banks and governments, using instead a peer-to-peer computer network to confirm purchases directly between users. Fiat money (like the U.S. dollars in your bank account) is backed and regulated by the government that issues it.

First impression would really be like that on where lots do anticipate nor have that feeling that it might be hard thats why they dont tend to touch up this market and leave but eventually

if you are really that eager on learning something then you can.It is really just needing some catalyst on poking up someones interest because not all would really
be having the same impressions on first time encounter.

This is why you should start up with the very basics on explaining into them.

From your write up I believe the person heard about how other people are making money, he will also want to make money, first you should tell him bitcon is very profitable but he can also lose money, so that he won't endup buying bitcoin then maybe the price start dropping and he will start panicking and might even sell at lost and endup regretting or accusing you wrongly so you have to enlighten him about the volatility aspect of bitcoin. And bitcon is not what you will buy today and expect after few hours or 1 day and you expect your money to be double, because since he see that other people are making money he might think is really easy and fast investing in Cryptocurrency requires patience.
Secondly tell him the scam aspect of bitcon because I believe scammers are everywhere, and they are really after us but I believe they really hunts newbies that they believe they don't really know about bitcoin, because they can easy trick them so tell him about wallet security that's private key. I believe there are still lot's of things he should know about so that he won't be disappointed at the end.

Your friend's interest in Bitcoin after the testimony he heard from someone, what he had in mind at that time was very easy to get money from bitcoin. Lol
When your friend think like that, very difficult to explain about bitcoin to him, especially as you say (He's still a newbie).

The first point you should do, explain WHAT BITCOIN IS and HOW BITCOIN WORKS to your friend. This point is very important and indispensable for newbie who are just learning bitcoin, because every minute the price of bitcoin can change, Bitcoin does not only offer profit, but it can also make a person poor overnight.

You can explain to him about:

1. First about scam and how to avoid
2. About decentralized exchanges and how kyc can lead to no privacy
3. About holding

Very good and very simple.

These 3 points are extremely important. I would start to explain what Bitcoin is and what revolution the Blockchain is. After a simple and short explanation, I would give some time for him/her to get into it. After that I would explain the safe ways „what exchange and what proof of purchase to keep“. Scams and liars - many examples (YouTube and Telegram not all true) and always activate the security of withdrawals on the exchanges.

And last the best way how to behave : Hodln!!!!

The first point you should do, explain WHAT BITCOIN IS and HOW BITCOIN WORKS to your friend.
Exactly.

Based on my own experience, we must be careful when explaining Bitcoin to newbies. Because most of them will commonly have these thoughts:
1. Bitcoin can make rich very soon
2. Bitcoin is illegal
3. Bitcoin is related to criminals
4. Bitcoin is haram
Points 2-4 may be influenced by media or some influencers. And we must be careful enough to explain about these situations, And we can clearly tell about the criminals done using Bitcoin, it may be happening, but mostly most criminals are not from Bitcoiners, but from fiat so far.
About the illegal, if your country has been legal it will not matter. But if it is illegal, better you don't say anything about Bitcoin to that person.
And about Bitcoin is haram, well, this is related to religion. You can search for another source that also states it is not haram because of some reason. there is also some different point of view about this.

And about the number 1, this is what commonly really happens. Because they think people that invest in Bitcoin can take profits very high easily. This may happen, but not always happen because Bitcoin is also risky and we can get profits if we know exactly about Bitcoin itself, the market condition at the current time, and also about not following hypes.

Most of my friends and acquaintances are people who have heard of bitcoin, but when I ask and talk to them, they don't know much, just know it is very valuable.

And when they became more interested and came to me for more knowledge. I have an easy way for them because I can see that their purpose is to make a profit, and they don't care much about what's going on. So the way I help them is simply instructed them to create the necessary accounts to be able to buy bitcoins and then teach them how to protect it. Not everyone who participates in this market researches it too much, if it's just profit, it's better to help them understand in the simplest way, sometimes I don't explain why it's growing for them, and they don't either unnecessary :)

In general, I would not advise all beginners to start with bitcoin, because many people hear about bitcoin and all newbies think that they will get rich at the expense of it, because everyone succeeded and we will succeed, but only these newcomers on the exchange turn into hamsters, buy for the whole cutlet, bitcoin and it falls sharply down, they immediately fix the loss in a panic, or they all merge into a deep minus and this is only good for the whales.

Newcomers need to pay close attention to discussing bitcoin. A newcomer knows nothing about bitcoin. If he misunderstands this, he will suffer a great loss. I think who inform him to learn about bitcoin he needs to share the negative sites first and then the positive. Should be remember that of course newcomers should not be encouraged to invest in this platform.

Newbies who do not have knowledge of Bitcoin, should not be in a hurry to invest in Bitcoin. Because if a newbie does not understand how Bitcoin
works, of course it will suffer losses if forced to invest. As I've said many times, never invest in something we don't understand. So for newbies learn
all things about Bitcoin first, including the advantages and disadvantages of Bitcoin, this way, newbie will have a better understanding of the decisions
they have to make. How to explain to newbies is not easy, they have to start from basic knowledge first. If we are lazy to explain to newbies,
we simply show this forum for newbies to read various topics about crypto. Because I think this forum is complete enough for newbies to get
the information they really need to know before deciding to invest in Bitcoin.

Maybe this can help you explain to your friends about bitcoin to understand more about bitcoin itself.

You can also tell your friends to read on the bitcointalk forum:

Hopefully what I give can help you to explain about bitcoin to your friends.

I think the first thing we can explain is the risks and rewards of bitcoin. because most of them are certainly oriented to big profits in a short time. so that they are not disappointed, then for me that is the main thing to apply. after they understand of course we can start learning about the others
Yeah the disappointment that happens when I reveal to them that others have been lying to them about bitcoin being a "get-rich-quick" scheme almost makes them leave the thoughts away forever and they are no longer interested in it. I agree that making money is a point but those who have been fooled to believe that bitcoin is such will be making the same mistake again and since the number of scammers in this sector are at significant, they need to be taught carefully.

I hope OP's friend has been informed and explained already, I suspected it to be a similar case. Remember that there is no easy way to make money - the people who bought bitcoin at three or lower digits had to make a tough choice at their time too and so are people doing today hoping to see it rise and be able to profit. This was the risk they took and it gave them a reward. That takes time and effort and some difficult mental decisions.

Actually everyone who devote out time to learn cryptocurrencies especially bitcoin, the major objectives of the person is to learn the rudiments of bitcoin via detecting the measure of it's profit. I think many people have rendered different points via learning bitcoin, we can learn basic knowledge of bitcoin from different dimensions, through bitcointalk community here, someone can acquire the knowledge, through online YouTube videos someone can aslo acquire the knowledge through there.

Apart from the forum rules and regulations is there a thread on this forum that explains in detail the whole concept of crypto currency on this forum?

the most important thing in my opinion is to explain how the system of blockchain and mining is. in order to avoid misconceptions about how to get bitcoin. and more about the basics in bitcoin. such what is blockchain. mining . exchanges and maybe some historical moment in crypto.Actually, there are many videos on YouTube that explain with animations about bitcoin and what crypto really is . that are very easy to understand.

If that he likes to learn about crypto, he certainly makes diggings on the internet as this was the major source of information aside from bitcointalk forum. But I don't think if he could manage to handle the stress in this form of investment because of what he heard (easy money, effortless investment) this could affect his decision and that possible to discontinue especially when he suffers losses during his first try.
I think OP, you should teach your friend not to believe in easy money, quick returns investment as this is far from the reality.

...//...:

There is nothing to add to answer how to explain someone bitcoin, it is well documented in the free access Internet, if you do not understand it, then read it until you understand it, it is not that difficult as a idea basic, I mean! nowadays we have to change that idea of "I have to teach bitcoin" or "I have to explain bitcoin "seriously!
We must start to create more ideas in the discussion, read and study the documentation on bitcoin brings a lot of questions, but the best thing in the process is to start dreaming up project ideas ... but please not ask for a link for newbies.

OP, tell them about the basics of bitcoin and let them start learning more if they want to know the technical stuff about it. I think a beginner just needs to know what bitcoin is, how to use it, store it and trade it. It would actually be easy to explain something about bitcoin to those who are interested and have an interest in certain things like investing, trading, mining or its function as a currency. So I think the OP needs to know what your friend is interested in before you try to teach him.

most people enter this cryptocurrency market to make money and for that reason almost everyone learns the basics of bitcoin and altcoin because they are in this market to make money, it is an investment they expect to make a profit when they buy bitcoin and altcoin, so in my opinion are rare cases where people simply asked about bitcoin without intending to invest in bitcoin

I don't want to give an idea how they will earn a profit when I introduce cryptocurrency, first I introduce them the potential knowledge that we could get and next how blockchain will work technically. Once they have done that part, I will slowly introduce the way of making a profit until they will have an interest in crypto. We should not talk about profit upon introducing, because they will probably adopt it in a greedy way.

I know and we feel that we need money but that it needs to learn first before stepping in as this obviously results in nothing. Definitely, forum might help newbies understand more about Bitcoin but, I guess they needs also to know why bitcoin created and how it works and especially what strategies they must do to continue having bitcoin with them. It is very important also that they will know more about it especially the risk they might possibly face when they start in Bitcoin. Since Bitcoin is a digital currency that operates on a decentralised network so, it means that every Bitcoin transaction is recorded in a public log and users can remain anonymous in the network with encrypted keys. Transactions can be made with no middlemen – meaning there is no need to go through a bank. Forum might also help them understand more about Bitcoin because they can ask anything in this forum to get an answer to an expert or even an advice on how they will do it.

To introduce Bitcoin to beginners, you should join this forum, beginners can join the bounty campaign on the forum and they will learn about Bitcoin by reading the forum, over time the beginners will know about Bitcoin little by little. Bitcoin is the main attraction for people who want to work part time, i.e. to generate additional income but if people focus on Bitcoin business I think they will leave their day job and switch completely in Bitcoin business.

In layman's terms, Bitcoin is a virtual currency that can be exchanged through online transactions, and is stored on a digital ledger. Once trading for pennies on the dollar, one unit now costs about $61,000. Most people with an interest in cryptocurrency are aware of Bitcoin, but they don't know how to trade Bitcoin to earn money. Here is a simplistic guide to learn about Bitcoin trading as a beginner:

It is difficult to introduce bitcoin to newbies, the easiest thing is to invite him to collect bitcoin and then sell it to the market to exchange it for fiat, after he once got fiat from bitcoin then he will look for many sources about bitcoin, and the first I knew about bitcoin because of a friend who told me bitcoin for earning bitcoin then I earn bitcoin at various faucets and then I exchange it to the exchange as above.

One of the ideal things is to keep them knowing what the bitcoin is, the fundamental, benefits and different kinds of earnings, still its better to keep them aware what are the legit things on the bitcoin-like trading, investments, faucet, airdrops, and prevent them with the scams, they are the one of the most vulnerable in the first time investment and we don't want to lose their money with just a single mistake. Want to be include with the crypto requires time and experience so don't need to hurry and keep the phase in learning.

If I were you then I would teach it just because I want bitcoin users to grow more. But the main requirement for teaching a beginner about bitcoin trading is never to hold yourself accountable for the gain and loss experienced due to price volatility. You may need to teach him the basic of trading and the risks involved and if your friend feels ready, continue learning. You are only responsible for teaching the basic of trading, and let him start learning a lot once he gains a lot of experience.

To be honest, this is essential.

The majority of newcomers are in the crypto world to make quick money, and we all know that quick money comes with a lot of risk. If they don't want to lose their money on coins that don't have any use cases, often known as shitcoins, they need to learn the fundamentals of trading.

first make sure to your friend whether he really wants to get into the world of crypto or just an interest because we have to be ready to accept all the risks that are here. The first thing I will do is provide an understanding of the risks and benefits that can be obtained, it can be started with a relaxed conversation so that he can be more accepting clearly. we must also give an understanding that the crypto market can fluctuate at any time so we must be more vigilant and careful. If you really want to start investing, then start investing with small capital first and invest in coins that are really good and reliable.

What I recommend for teaching newbies is:

1. Avoid coins that do not have good fundamentals because it will reduce the risk of loss, so bitcoin is one of the best choices
2. Providing information on the world of bitcoin crypto investment with technical analysts
3. HODL Bitcoin education for short and long term with profit earned

I think these 3 points are the right way to make newbies understand crypto algorithms. Just simple like that

Don't just look at the advantages of Bitcoin. Nothing is perfect. You can simply tell it about the shortcomings of Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is equivalent to money, you have to tell it the consequences of investment, no investment is always profitable. Don't let your friend invest just because you tell your friend that investing in Bitcoin can make a profit. When he loses money, he will be angry with you for this reason.

This is as simple as I can make it:

Bitcoin: think of a wallet, that everyone has in their pocket. In this wallet they have their money and a piece of paper, in which written down is a list of wallets and how much money is in each of those wallets. Everytime someone trades their money for something, everyone takes their list and notes this trade and writes it down. Now everyone know your wallet has less money because you bought something. In fact, they know exactly how much money is left in your wallet. So you can't lie about how much money you have.

However, updating your list is a lot of work so we have people, who do this for you. In return for communicating this information to everyone about who traded with who and how much, they recieve a tiny portion from the trade, as compensation.

This method of communication is called the "blockchain". And the money is called "Bitcoin".

Bitcoin can be created by solving a lot of mathematical problems, which get harder and take longer to solve, the more Bitcoin are mined. Since math can be proven to be right or wrong, we can know whether or not someone put in real work to find real solutions.

There can only be a certain maximum amount of Bitcoins ever created, but Bitcoin can be broken into smaller pieces. The value of each piece depends on how many people want to own these pieces.

Most of them are only interested because the price goes up high and viral news about bitcoin. his interest is also not necessarily true to learn this technology . they just want to know how to be rich. whereas if they can understand the basic knowledge of bitcoin, crypto and blockchain it is enough for them to start learning more about other things in crypto. I think it's enough to give a reference to the basic things. if someone is really interested surely he will look for more information. and the information is widely distributed on the internet freely.

Which is why people just go crazy for floki and other nonsense coins,,, always about the price, about the "potential"  ;D

I do disagree that everyone has to learn about technology though. You can still understand Bitcoin benefits without understanding the technology,,, same as people slowly began to use email and internet benefits without knowing a single knowledge about how to use html code or email protocols.

It is simpler and very efficient to provide knowledge to beginners about bitcoin. because on the internet there are many articles and videos that explain what bitcoin, cryptocurrency and blockchain are.
Just how they newbies learn and don't just depend on others.

If we explain from scratch we will not be able and better to do other jobs than having to become their personal teacher.

I think just give him youtube videos or google links that explain about crypto. Because from the story itself we know what your friend aim, is to get a lot of money from crypto. Although it is what most of people in here aim too, but for people who only want to be rich quickly, they wouldn't care about technology or anything related to crypto, they will care if you tell them how to get profit instantly.

The backend working of Bitcoin is totally technical and many people who lack those skills will find it hard to understand how the transactions are made and how wallets store your funds. But the simple part for investors is to hold them as financial investment tool to gain profits in the long run if they just hold it.But for those who are interested in understanding how it works needs to be familiar with all the basic functioning if not too deep but slowly many more people will understand it and come to know about it.Almost everyone want profit but btc will give freedom along with profits to you and that's the best part.

My personal experience is getting to know bitcoin, because of the help of a friend who has always faithfully guided me, and always taught me to know bitcoin, he taught me about using bitcoin, he taught me about scams, how to store bitcoin, and how to sell to avoid scams..

You're are lucky to have a friend who knows about bitcoin and he helped you also get knowledge about it. When i started to know about bitcoins and crypto, i was all alone searched the google and this forum to get as much information as i can. I did not have anyone near to know who know about bitcoin. However, once i got knowledge, i did transfer it to my family and friends

I think this sounds better, I think the friend of OP or let's say if I am the one that wanted to learn about crypto and asking my friend to teach me I would already appreciate if he can give me a links on youtube that I can watch on and legit google links where I can acquire more knowledge. If he will going to teach me it would be a great help but it's not his responsibility to teach me by the way unless I would going to pay him for teaching me. However, I am also glad that I have a friend who knows a lot about this platform and never hesitate to share his knowledge with me but in myself I'd still made my own research about the crypto platform and market on my own.

Same here, and the reason I learned a lot is because I worked hard to educate myself.

Without people teaching us to learn in crypto, I guess that is more effective as we start from the very start and have more sources on the information that we would know, until now, I still continue learning and I don't close my mind with the new knowledge especially on the investment knowledge as that's the reason why we are here.

the fact is, money make people feeling thirsty, and who refuses to be rich? just to the point what he look for, when try to find money, just explain slowly how to deal with it and dont forget to avoid dangerous thing like scam and the other.
and dont forget to warn, if you too lustful, it will bring to loss
let them learn , we need nothing to explain because it will be more difficult for them to understand .
the internet is more than enough for newbies to learn.
give them links and just follow up with their questions.
Agree, explaining to them like children is probably overkill and most of us are not trained in teaching styles, the instruction will have its bad points and explain according to our thinking, perhaps each lesson will take a few extra hours to find the common ground between our conversation and the new person. Besides, the age of learning about bitcoin is also quite different, the slow absorption of some components can make us angry and make non-standard statements, we don't want to let new people judge us rude and disrespectful, it's better for them to learn the general curriculum which is Youtube and our role is to advise more knowledge.

There's a lot of link about Bitcoin for newbies. If ever you can't find even just one, you can also search it through the internet since all the information you want to know about Bitcoin is already in the internet. You can also  give him youtube videos or google links that explain about crypto. Because from the story itself we know what your friend aim, is to get a lot of money from crypto. The same as what I did before, and the reason I learned a lot is because I worked hard to educate myself about cryptocurrency. If he was really interested, then he would look for the information little by little.

I think there are a lot of beginners who don't understand how the bitcoin investment system works because to explain something about the world for beginners it's very difficult where they don't understand the ins and outs of bitcoin investment where the price tends to go up and down so with what has been invested today this, we can't say it will be a good result, especially for people, because of course everyone, especially beginners, want to get instant success like what has been achieved by miners who have been in the world for a long time.

Bitcoin and crypto can be explained in few words for the one who want to understand, but for the one who want to invest and get involved is really complicated, as you can see there is alots of traps in the crypto world and every newbie can fall into one of them easily so a newbie is always vulnerable, You will need alots of time to explain what is a crypto project and how we can no the legit ones and how to avoid scammers and will also need to give example for each case for sure

The other day i was explaining about bitcoin to my friend but it took a lot longer than i expected to tell him the basis. He had so many questions and each question needs a bit of explanation. I thought telling anyone about bitcoin would be easy but this is actually not the case. You need to have a patience with all the questions newbies have about bitcoin.

I wouldn't know how to put it in a simple term for a beginner to get it without much confusion, because in my case, I discovered btc and crypto in general on my own with constant research and reading online,
For a newbie to quickly grasp and understand btc, there must be a willingness to research personally, it will make whatever explanation given by someone else to sink in quickly,
Am not a good teacher hence the emphasis on self research which is the best approach to understanding btc and crypto easily.

and I mean if they want to learn or know bitcoin seriously they will definitely use their smartphone to help them find the information or knowledge about bitcoin they want, and if any newbie wants to learn or ask me just give the link basic knowledge and so on about bitcoin, and most importantly he is not lazy to read and is serious about working on it because the results will be good if there is effort and willing to study seriously.

First you have to explain the risks if he join? enter in bitcoin transactions where many unexpected things will happen for example fraud, prices drop , you may explain it first before you explain what is beautiful about bitcoin

after he understands you teach about how to deposit, trade and withdraw
besides that you also give your friends a video tutorial on youtube about what bitcoin is and how it works

It doesn't matter if you are a good teacher or not, even without a teaching background could be able to explain it but the problem is how to make it simple and so it was very easy for the listeners to get the idea and could also be easy to understand. In fact, even most of us here don't actually understand clearly and many were still in doubt.
However, learning won't just take a single day, a single session nor do we just rely on one source. But with the help of the internet makes these newbies gain additional idea and information as well.

There isn’t really much a lot of things to talk about when you’re introducing Bitcoin to them. First I believe they already know that Bitcoin is used for transaction, and for investments as well.  So, now they already know the basic use for Bitcoin, it is now up to you to explain to them how to make use of these cryptocurrencies, and how they can invest in it. You have to explain to them the best wallets to make use of, and the best exchanges that they can use fortrading in the market.

For the wallets that they are going to make use of, I am going to recommend that they have both a hot wallet and a cold wallet. A hot wallet is an online wallet, while a cold wallet is one that stores your cryptocurrencies offline. There are lots of hot wallets that they can choose, and as for cold storages, they can choose wallets like Ledger nano S or Trezor. Then as for the best exchanges that they can make use of when they want to trade their crypto currencies, I would recommend that they start with exchanges like coinbase.com or binance.com.  this exchanges will be easier for them to navigate, because it’s easy to understand and use.

As of now those who ask about Bitcoin, must be aware of crypto currencies at least to a percentage. What they do expect is, how the bitcoin is earned, where its stored and how the earned bitcoin can be exchanged into local currencies for usage. Other than this, now a days mostly people like to invest their money in purchasing bitcoin. So they require the best exchange and the way to purchase the same.

agree with this. The internet is the greatest source of information. if he really wanted to know about bitcoin from people, they would most likely direct him to the internet. whether it's from videos or from articles, everything is already available there.
however, some people sometimes want instant explanations, and easy to understand. well, it's the same as wanting to continue to be fed. however, if he was really serious, he would really seek information regarding this. if it were me, I might explain the risks first, then provide a reference to find out more about bitcoin.

IMO there is no better way to explain Bitcoin to Newbies other then by giving them a practical demonstration of how bitcoin works. Just demonstrate them how with bitccoin one can receive funds instantly, from anywhere in the world, without any cuts and at any time of the day. This will give them a fair idea of what bitcoin is. Other then that you can keep explaining to newbies and there is very little chance that they will get the real meaning of bitcoin.

because there are many links that explain what we need in detail, and when they know the basics, suggest going to the forums to develop their knowledge for the better which I think that way will be more effective and that way they can understand what they read or discuss in the forum and not confused. ;D

Apart from the forum rules and regulations is there a thread on this forum that explains in detail the whole concept of crypto currency on this forum?
First let him know what is bitcoin and how it work?  Why bitcoin is must trusted and why we should invest in cryptocurrency as well. Then explain to him about the risk of investing in cryptocurrency. Then explain and teach him about holding. Raise his mind so that he understands that cryptocurrency = hold = profit. And Fucking Patience = Early sall = Fucking losses.  This will give a lot of pleasure to his cryptocurrency journey

Start with asking them about the fiat currency of your country and online transactions they do while shopping, etc. You better get an idea of what they know about online money transactions and whether they are ready to understand the concept of bitcoin. You can start with the basic definition of bitcoin and then, give them an article to read. Don’t give them any deep information that won’t be of any use to them but a complete waste of time for you. If they feel more interested in it, they will come up with their own questions.

If they really are interested in learning it, whatever happens and whatever they need to do they will do it. I'm not saying that explaining Bitcoin to the newbies is wrong but I don't want to spoon-feed people with information. this is a good thing to do because really they just need to be explained with advantages and benefits first I guess.
other than that telling beginners with theory alone is actually not very effective, instead of them being able to understand they will be confused with most of the theory I think.
It needs real action shown so they can see and observe how bitcoin works

that way anyone will be scared and avoid using bitcoin although you're right. most people in the past when they heard about bitcoin they associated bitcoin with the crime of money laundering luckily nowadays this thought has disappeared and in many TV channels and major newspapers they speak highly of bitcoin, even people who were fanatical about gold now buy bitcoin, in a short time a lot of good things happened for bitcoin

First to know bitcoin is curiosity about the status of my friend on whatsapp. I started asking him questions and searching the internet several times. Based on this, I agree with you a little. Curious new people will be more enthusiastic about finding their own learning, to introduce and understand it is very difficult. And I'm sure bitcoin is currently famous because its value continues to grow. Social media is a powerful way to introduce to others.

Let newbies know that bitcoin is decentralized currency and it's what you handle without the involvements of your brother, secondly bitcoin can be easily take away from you with social platforms for investment that yields interest by the scammers, avoid the  double interest and double profit in bitcoin investment platforms because at times it leads to scam. Buy and hodl bitcoin for long time to get profit.

 :D

that way anyone will be scared and avoid using bitcoin although you're right. most people in the past when they heard about bitcoin they associated bitcoin with the crime of money laundering luckily nowadays this thought has disappeared and in many TV channels and major newspapers they speak highly of bitcoin, even people who were fanatical about gold now buy bitcoin, in a short time a lot of good things happened for bitcoin
This is the reality. Earlier it is possible to see bitcoin on the television when there is something negative about it. Things have changed over time, and these days it is common to see an advertisement associating bitcoin. This shows the transformation of bitcoin from a negative asset to something good. So, it is all about the acceptance that has created more space for growth. Newbies are now finding it easy to learn, as most of them enter through the trading practice.

now simply quoting from the forum what is bitcoin and on what basis people want more bitcoin and how does it work ,it's already on the forum all of that! I will divert to this forum with a myriad of useful knowledge for him to reading ! I used to explain face to face many of them didn't believe it ! so right now I don't want to bother explaining with foaming mouths let them read what has been in this digital world's ,If there are further questions what they don't understand I can immediately put them into practice then they will understand faster ! it's better to read first
What forum do you mean, to be clearer because there are many bitcoin or crypto forums and this forum includes Bitcointalk, I think it would be better if a beginner knows and understands what bitcoin is and how it works first on the internet, after reading it on the internet because it will be easier to understand. and moreover when they read it they can read it in more detail and also thoroughly.
because there are many links that explain what we need in detail, and when they know the basics, suggest going to the forums to develop their knowledge for the better which I think that way will be more effective and that way they can understand what they read or discuss in the forum and not confused. ;D
I made a statement on this forum ,it's clear I will redirect newbies to this forum for them to read and learn ! you're like a newbie who doesn't know the contents of this forum by referring to a search on the internet ! I'm self taught without a teacher and know bitcoin from 2012 but internet articles or the like have little content ,so I don't grow on the internet or some articles ,2016 I joined this forum and understand more with a lot of information, it's complete!
this is the most suitable reference for you Beginners & Help (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0)
interesting conversation, I believe a lot of literature available on the internet related to Bitcoin for Newbies. I agree and recommend beginners to learn more bitcoin and other Altcoin from this forum. because most of the information spread on the internet is dishonest, and lot of the information that is spread is not from the perpetrators of cryptocurrency users. in this forum I believe all users are active users who have broad insight in the crypto world, the good and bad sides of cryptocurrencies are thoroughly peeled off, this is what sets it apart.
I think the best platform to learn about bitcoin and cryptocurrency is Youtube nowadays. On YouTube, there are tonnes of good videos explaining what is bitcoin, how bitcoin works, and the new blockchain technology behind it. When I was starting out with bitcoin, Youtube helped me a lot, and even nowadays I still go to Youtube to search for my favorite altcoins videos.

I am sure that your friend is  interested in Bitcoin because of the hype or even because of the very big news about the price of Bitcoin itself.
Yes, I also have some friends that are interested in crypto because of the pmp price of Bitcoin and Doge at that time. But at first, I only tell them about the basic of crypto and also Bitcoin especially. And they will also commonly ask about the regulation, just tell the regulation i your country and also globally.
then, you may also tell about the price that commonly will give you profits but also risks that will be faced someday.

It always depends on what knowledge the person already has (computers/economics/mathematics etc).
For an unsuspecting "friend's girlfriend", it's probably the most difficult thing.
I'd go with: It's like cash! On the internet! Don't need bank account!
If they ask more specific questions, like how does it work, why are bitcoins valuable, etc, then you can go deeper.

If you go technical, the newbie will miss the point, get frustrated, and lose interest. Keep it basic and try to be practical.

Don't start by explaining Bitcoin as an Investment vehicle, they'll miss the point and confuse it with HYIP. Let them see it as money first, before anything else.

1. Help him download and install Bitcoin wallet for experimental purpose. During the process, he'll be able to see what Master seed looks like. And teach him how to secure and use it in future.

2. Show him/her how to Send and Receive Bitcoin using the wallet address.

3. There are countless MLM and Pyramids programs out there disguising as Bitcon investments to trick newbies. Explain to them the differences.

4. Show them the white paper and encourage them to read through.

5. Use practical illustrations to them the blockchain technology. And the potential it holds.

It's really difficult to deal with newbies in this subject but time and patience will do the trick.

Here are some steps to explain bitcoin to newbies:
1- Show him bitcoin picture so that when he grow up in the community he can be able to differentiate bitcoin from fiat money.
2- Show him all the rules that guide bitcoin in the community by pointing out some users in the forum how they obeyed bitcoin rules to become professional in the community.
3- Show him those bitcoin users that loss their bitcoin to scammers in the community because they were not satisfied with what they have in the community. Short cut is not good for them in the areas of becoming a successful investors in the community.

also, if the newbie is really interested in knowing more about the nature of bitcoin and how it is now influencing the market, he can always read useful information from the internet. you don't need to explain technical things on him. he can easily access all that he needs via internet.
but he can always ask someone who is into crypto about other things that he is still confused of. but all the others can be taken care of, if he knows his way over the internet. this is the advantage today. one click in search button and you have tons of info that you need. but you need to slowly digest the info, otherwise, you will feel drowning and giving up to know more about this market

Simply explain and allow them to ask a question. Bitcoin is still known to us in the same way, but the process is slightly different. When some people first heard about bitcoin, they assumed it was a high-yield investment program (HYIP). After getting scammed, they learned the truth about bitcoin. I am one of those people who got scammed and then learned the truth about bitcoin. Usually, it is just a simple question that can be answered by searching the internet, but the question is: how do you make money with bitcoin? because there are numerous methods of earning money from it. Explain to them, and then allow them to ask questions so that you can answer their questions if they arise.

Well if we are going to explained Bitcoin to a newbie I think we need to have a big patience and think about how we start or understand crypto when we are also a newbie. Sometimes newbie always think that they already learn a lot of things but there emotions prevail and they will lose because they cannot manage or control thier emotions.
I agree on that controling emotions is also very important in crypto and I also once a newbie who experienced loss because I can't control my emotions when I see bloody market, I quickly dump my holdings even at loss so I end up lossing, we need to always learn and always think on how to handle different situation because in crypto we cannot assure everything because of the high volatility market.

explaining about bitcoin and taking it seems like an easy thing nowadays. especially when there are enough examples of successful people. other than that, bitcoin is not a secret anymore. however, making them understand the risks was a very difficult thing. many of them think that bitcoin is a fast way to make money. however, such an expectation could easily crush them. however, if you want to explain about bitcoin, try to make them understand the benefits and risks.
some people I teach, I tell them to look for that information on the internet, then ask me what they don't know.

i think if you want to explain bitcoin to newbies, you need to explain about the 'world' of bitcoin, i  mean you need to explain about the blockchain first, after you tell about blockchain, you can tell about the private key, and the address, tell them about private key are private, just the owner can know about the private key. and then you can tell then about block explorer, about tx hash, and gas fee, i think it will be great if you explain them detail like i said hahaha

Bitcoin or crypto at large isn't it get rich instantly investment. You loose some, you gain some. And always remember to use this acronym NFA!. if his friend is interested in getting into the cryto world, you just need to teach him how to register the market correctly and how to make a deposit and then how to trade. so no need to force things, because it will learn on its own slowly step by step. this way you don't bother him and he
That means understanding bitcoin is all of knowing the Trading side of bitcoin, from my side i thought that understanding bitcoin is like knowing the wallets first that is good to secure some coins and also knowing when to buy because of lost and also know when to sell to make profit of big, i see trading like the difficult side of bitcoin

When my friends ask me to explain what Bitcoin is, I start with explaining what blockchain is. Blockchain is a chain that contains records of all transactions where address and values are put. Then I explain what problems must be solved thanks to Bitcoin: transparency of the financial system, no control and regulation from authorities. And then they usually want to hear how to earn on this market.

It is somewhat they got hyped because of what they have heard on social media. Might they be right as investing in Bitcoin will give you a profit, huge profit if we know how to deal with it plus the market changes? As long as they have a working strategy and give them positive results, they are on the right track. But have to say that not all have that kind of direction and most of the time these newbies fail to make it, they are more complaining about losing.
I think these newbies must have to know and be aware of the REAL situation of the crypto market first.

There would be no friendship would be broken if you do just know on how to make those words in proper arrangement and you shouldnt really give out guarantees and always tell them about the risk because once they are aware as you had told them then they wont really be blaming you whenever they do lost up money because its an inevitable thing and try to explain them about the basics
but honestly this isnt really just for the sake of investment because bitcoin wasnt really created for that sole purpose but rather its just an opportunity or side
benefits because Bitcoin is really intended for payment system and investment is only on the next line.

For beginners there are many things he must know to jump into the world of bitcoin, especially they must be ready to face the risk of every investment or participate in a project, and for beginners must read first every rule in this forum so that he does not violate, most importantly he always wants to ask if there are problems that are being faced in this forum, And to get results, we need patience in investing and following reward projects, because the results we get today are not as easy as we think and we listen to others.

for beginners we must explain how the role of bitcoin carefully where bitcoin is a long-term investment if a beginner wants to be in the crypto world then we must give a more detailed explanation, especially that bitcoin is an investment whose prices tend to go up and down so we have to give more reasonable directions to beginners because bitcoin does not have a fixed price right

My question is, is there a way or link for to explain Bitcoin to newbies?
For better explanation about Bitcoin or other Crypto currency you can search video on YouTube, have many video about Bitcoin and also you can search in google. This both are best option for better understanding about Bitcoin.
Youtube could be a good source to find the many question's answer .You can get different easy idea from there and start to explain him/her .I think it will be better to show the price and the value of the recent time and also where it start from .He/she will get few idea that ho much it has value to the world .Gradually start to explain him a lot option that how can he/she earn from here .I think that's how he/she can get the interest about btc and also on crypto market .Why not its make him/her to come on this platform explain him/her that how thousand of people are earning here and holding their asset become more rich .I think he/she will surely get it .

Now a lot of social media that explains material about Bitcoin. Both articles and videos are now available. You can visit Google to find articles that discuss Bitcoin, if you still don't understand the reading, you can try watching the Bitcoin explanation video on Youtube. Usually, most people can understand better if someone explains it verbally than just reading it yourself.

As of now, there are still some newbies who reached out to me asking for explanation regarding Bitcoin. I just simply said to them that they’re just like buying stocks at cheap price and sell when it’s high but no central authority as it is decentralized. On top of that, I just said that it’s the first ever cryptocurrency in the world and the most popular, and of course transactions are transparent because of the distributed public ledger known as blockchain.

great way to watch youtube to get information about bitcoin. after we read books, and look for articles on the internet, if we don't understand, then the best way is to ask friends who already understand bitcoin, I think that way we will understand it more easily, because we can meet face to face

Explaining bitcoin to a newbie is really a difficult task because those persons even don't know the basics of the crypto currency.
We have to tell them about each and every thing. We need a lot of time to explain them and after explaining it to them we also have to be with them during their whole working until they become experienced.

It could be that or the opposite. I had heard the opposite from my friends when I first mentioned Bitcoin to them and they were like, "oh that sCaM cOIn in the dArK wEb". There are division of thoughts when it comes to cryptos and we can't blame them anyway since they're not too techy or was not aware or knowledgeable about it.
I never heard from someone in my social circle ever that Bitcoin is volatile investment and to this day, I am still waiting, lol.

Yeah. Push it to the max. What I am saying. You tell a newbie if CZ gets that job in Dubai. Then he will report your sorry ass data to whomever is in charge.

AHAHA. Thinking of it. He will turn to politics when he can afford it. Say that to a newbie.

If just introducing it is difficult and easy to leave, it's better to make newbies think that with bitcoin investment our money can increase hundreds of percent in a year or even less, I'm sure in a simple way like that newbies are more interested than technical things about bitcoin.

agree. my experience, easier when you teach someone about bitcoin, and tell about anything inside with the mone in the end. younger attract to fill their wallet than information, at first. as time go by, they forced to know what crypto is, the main function, and the other thing. this will be hard if you tell to older, they wont attract on money like younger, they just collect that information, than be the main hangout talks, or family time.

The technology today is more advance than we have a few years ago where we can only have a legitimate source of information about cryptocurrency here in the forum, now there's a lot of tutorials on YT, blogs, and TikTok videos explaining what is crypto or bitcoin so I think these newbies already have the glimpsed of the idea of what is bitcoin or crypto is.

Well I agree with your statement. Explaining bitcoin to beginners is difficult and easy, why? Because if you only explain theoretically, some people think it's just gibberish, like my experience. I prefer to practice directly, because in most people it is easier to understand what is practiced than to theorize. For me direct practice is more effective because they can feel the atmosphere.

Stick with the basics on which it could be easy to understand because this is something that they do really need to understand out without needing on explaining to them about being too techinical
because its normal that t hey would really be finding out to be hard to understand when you do tend to explain to them.
This might be hard but once they do take up some good grasp then they would easily able to understand it might be hard but it would really be needing up
some little push if you are really that serious on making them learn.

With a widespread of information online, inviting or sharing information regarding to bitcoin is more easier now. You can give some hints and share good sites and social media venue to enhance the knowledge if the person you are sharing or explaining about bitcoin is really interested to learn more about this industry.

Open-minded people will find ways to adopt, while to those who are negative to this venue, you can't force them to believe.

It's more about what kind of people you are trying to bring to this business.. ::) 8)

Newbies expect the ways Bitcoin can be earned here in this forum. So we have many ways of earning cyrpto currencies / Bitcoin here. Better to explain them the ways Bitcoin can be earned and how the wallets have to be maintained. Yes explain them about how the market fluctuates and how that has to be manages or handled when invested money. And yes besides this, give them links, sites where baisc information of Bitcoin will be present, so that they can read and understand what is Bitcoin.

When a newbie think aboit Bitcoin, they will think this:
Wow the price is soooò exoensive, I can never buy even 1BTC
I several times heard about this.
And that is why we need to tell them simply about how much we can buy exactly, not must 1BTC.
And we tell them simply, what is Bitcoin, as the first crypto, there is no real form of BTC, the creation and others. Then about trading and investing in Bitcoin but still basically.
I never teach them about the deep information about Bitcoin, mining, blocks, and many details because newbies will not be interested in that.
Later, when they have been ready and know more about Bitcoin, we can yg tell them further information.
And never say that we can be rich from Bitcoin because newbies wil think very highly to be richer very soon and their expectation will be so high.

As per my experience, most newbies are interested in Bitcoin investment but when they know the price of bitcoin, they feel disappointed that they do not have this much money or they think that the Bitcoin price is way too high.
The first thing we should tell them that they can buy Bitcoin with 50$ or 100$ also. Secondly we should show them the historical data of Bitcoin which show that Bitcoin always increase in value.

As a Newbie, you have to make enough research about Bitcoin yourself, not everything will be told. There are many Videos on YouTube, articles are also online that will explain better what Bitcoin is all about. Teach them how to be patience, and not to panic when they see the price of Bitcoin falls. Most importantly, tell them about the danger of exposing their private keys to someone. However, as time goes on, they will learn more about Bitcoin.

Internet is more complete than Us who need to explain, why not just Give Him more links and videos so he will study on his own but of course with your Guidance so in case he has question then you will only need to teach Him something.
and also he won't blame you instead he made a mistake in investing because you are not the one who tell him where to invest lol.

Nowadays if there are someone who try asking me about what and how to deal with crypto? i send them Videos and  this forum for them to study deeply.

Information online is very helpful if one wants to learn, in fact, we can educate ourselves without a problem as long as we are resourceful enough to search for the necessary information to help us improve our knowledge. Explaining to a newbie should be easy, just go with the basic and let them do the rest, the more they dig deeper, the more information they'll know and that would help them more intelligent when it comes to investing.

now it has been widely spread on the internet and on youtube explaining what bitcoin is, just type it in a search but the problem is whether they believe in bitcoin regardless of the wishful thinking of big profits?

Many beginners don't realize that bitcoin is a very volatile asset, if they can't hodl it then when the market is bearish they will sell their btc.

When beginners think of Bitcoin, the next moment they imagine of a huge profit if they invest in it so and thats how the media and friends around, have showcased as getting profits by investing some money into Bitcoin. But they tend to realize after they invest what is real and how the profit should be gained. Yes, they need to either learn by themselves or someone has to explain them about the volatile market and how it moves. Everyone might have gone through such situation when we pitched into this forum or when we invested into bitcoin.

I would simplify it very easy, I ask you how much you have saved in your bank? According to what they tell me, I take out the annual interest, which I am sure will never reach 20%, however I take it out, and then I tell them, well, your annual interest can do it in BTC in just 3 or 4 months, and if you have good luck you can see it at more than 24% and not annually, of course those who are traders get more than that, but it is good to let them know that this way of moving money is better than leaving it in a bank where large corporations earn with your few cents, I think that's the easiest way to explain it, through the numbers.

For beginners, at first it will be difficult for themselves to understand what bitcoin is, and what it is eaten with :) To understand the process of work, it usually takes a lot of time.
It will take time if the person you're explaining and teaching bitcoin isn't really listening to you. I've got a few friends that I've discussed bitcoin only a few times.
And then, they did the rest of their own research and eventually, they kept asking questions which is a good sign and they've learned on their own. It really depends on the person's enthusiasm if they really are interested in bitcoin.

Indeed. Giving them the privilege and responsibility of controlling and making use of their freedom in learning bitcoin is better than spoon-fed teaching method. Newbies would learn to think critically and analyze things on their own, unlock the gaps on their knowledge, and be able to make their own decisions. Spoon feeding brings out the laziness of people, most of the time, and being too reliant to others can hinder them to grow and really  learn.

This is true, and I've got similar experience with my friends. As it is Christmas friends who are working away from hometown for work-life used to return home. So, I met two friends and both of them discussed on their own about cryptocurrencies. It was quite astonishing, because to one person I introduced our forum few years back.

He ignored and now he said I could've invested back. Now he have started a month ago and invested just $150. Other one talked about cryptocurrencies as he knew I was into the market. This has been happening as the awareness and visibility of the cryptocurrency is found better than past days.

Your case is a vivid example of the fact that people see in Bitcoin only a speculative instrument, and this is sad.

BTC is more than that, but the desire for profit overshadows the eyes. BTC is a kind of ideology or belief, belief in a bright future, hope to gain freedom and independence, which people have lost in the modern banking system.

BTC is not just technology, it's magic (remember Clark's 3rd Law), a tool with which you can change the world into the world of the future.

Try to start with this.
Help your friend look at BTC from a different perspective, not just as a way that will allow him to buy a lambo. Try to inspire and impress him with the opportunities he can get.

Explaining bitcoin to the newbies is really a difficult task and specially to those who are unaware of the Digital technology. Those who are having a little knowledge about the crypto world or the Digital technology are easy to tackle and to explain about the bitcoin.

difficult? I do not think so. the comparison is now quite a lot, the media that supports it are also not small and now there really is no need to explain at length what bitcoin is.
I think give them bitcoins and save them within a few months, when the price increases they will understand and don't need to explain at length in words they will realize by themselves that bitcoin is very good for investment

I agree. The internet has enormous information about bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. Also, many known personalities, brands and companies have been into cryptocurrency during these times that is why there has been more input regarding it. It’s just important to note that such information should still be filtered based on the legitimacy of the sources.

They are lucky they have someone to guide them, if I would tech someone, I will let them explore and tell them just ask me if you have some doubts so I could refer you to the site where you can learn on a specific matter. it's not good to spoon feed them the information as they will be too reliant to you, and worst if if they blame you if they failed.

Yes you are a good teacher, beside you teach and explain all thing about bitcoin, i think guide are better than teach.
They should explore by themselves, because internet give a huge information about anything, and exploring in internet are fun
You will teach Bitcoin to someone and the person understand very well base on the way you understand the Bitcoin, you may know bitcoin but you will not know how to explain to another person to understand, it's the same thing like class room teachers or lectures, some of them knows more better but the knowledge can not be impact to their students according to their level of intelligent, the person that introduce to Bitcoin really know btc but to teach person to understand is war, because it does not have the methods or foundation of teaching

They also need to understand the potential of bitcoin, if they will just sell and take profit, that is so easy as bitcoin will eventually rise. However, them knowing its potential in the future, they'll not only keep what they receive, they might also try to continuously invest until they invest a decent amount for a better future.

Someone who is "unaware of the digital technology"? I am not sure I have encountered someone like that in my lifetime. Maybe you meant people who are not accustomed to digital technology? In this case, it is true, it is difficult to explain cryptocurrency to someone who does not use at least the basics of modern technology.

It might sound unreal but there are people who are really lacking knowledge and awareness on todays technology on we do have which would really result into that illiteracy of things which makes it more

hard for someone to pass up valuable informations which would really be connected or in related with todays tech and trends. There are still people who are like this specially on

rural areas on which technology isn't really that much been adopted or not been rampant on existence which these people would be leave out behind.

Bitcoin is the first  cryptocurrency  and the best cryptocurrency in the market that rules other cryptocurrency.  Bitcoin is the most reliable  cryptocurrency and the most popular. This are the first thing a beginner won't don't have knowledge about cryptocurrency needs to know.
Of course what you said is something that is very true and indeed acknowledged, because we also know that whatever is discussed about crypto, the first thing that comes to people's minds is bitcoin and nothing else, even though we know that crypto is very much and continues to grow.

This clearly indicates that whatever crypto is said at the outset is about bitcoin, so the connotation that crypto is bitcoin is very obvious, even though it's certainly wrong because it's not like that.

so it's not just beginners but all of them will do things like that and by getting to know more about crypto it will open up that crypto is very much and needs to be learned all the time because there are always changes.

This is a really good idea. They can't understand bitcoin at all if they don't know how to use technology. Well, this is typical of third-world countries, where there are still areas without internet or cell phone service. In most rural areas, people have no idea what a computer or an Android phone even are. In those remote areas, people do have phones, but they aren't android or iphones; they just use them to make and receive phone calls and text messages. This is a good start, however, because it will evolve over time and they will eventually begin to use the internet.

For beginners, at first it will be difficult for themselves to understand what bitcoin is, and what it is eaten with :) To understand the process of work, it usually takes a lot of time.
That's why OP is asking how can we make them learn bitcoin, of course it's going to take time but the only problem is that not everyone is an expert and learning about bitcoin from them is the worst thing because it has a mixture of opinions that might cause inaccuracies.

Bitcoin is the oldest and largest in the cryptocurrency worldwide. It is a decentralized currency that is not control by any countries of the world. You don't need to pay any taxes to government before using it in the community because is not a centralized currency which government has power over in the country.
Bitcoin is an asset you can invest on and start earning profit from it either monthly or yearly in the community. Bitcoin has rules which everybody must obey to become successful in the future.

If you want to learn about Bitcoin just google and revise videos.
I followed your advice and started to google for information about bitcoin, particularly I was searching for how and where I can buy bitcoin because I assume that is the first thing every newbie will start searching for. The very first result I got was the article from Investopedia that says that the most popular ways to buy bitcoin are centralized exchanges like Coinbase, brokerages like Robinhood, and services like PayPal. The second result was the article from Coinbase that explains how to buy Bitcoin on Coinbase. The third result was the article from bitcoin.com, which is a website dedicated to scam bitcoin fork and not bitcoin. Needless to say, the results I had were terrible and misleading. If I were a complete newbie, I would already give away all the information about yourself to centralized exchanges, learn nothing about the importance of self-custody of your keys, read a ton of misleading bullshit about Bitcoin Cash being better and faster than Bitcoin. Why would that happen to me? Because being a newbie in this field, I don't know how to distinguish terrible information from useful one.
