Title: User "Binance Coin" - likely impersonating Binance (à la Bitcoin SV / korner)
Post by: suchmoon on October 24, 2021, 03:58:24 PM
User "Binance Coin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2625435)" appears to be a troll/impersonator and not a real Binance account.

I'd love to be wrong about this one because it's really not a good look for this forum to allow that kind of shit.

But here are some red flags:
  • Self-mod threads (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;threads;u=2625435;sa=showPosts).
  • Absurd (https://loyce.club/archive/posts/5440/54407821.html) and trolling (https://loyce.club/archive/posts/5825/58258418.html) posts.
  • Russian accent (https://loyce.club/archive/posts/5820/58203978.html) when the post is not a copypasta from Binance website/twitter/etc.
  • Sole merit received from korner's alt (https://bpip.org/smerit.aspx?to=Binance%20Coin) (korner is the troll behind "Bitcoin SV" account (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5211434) that pretends to represent the coin of the same name).
  • No proof that the account actually represents Binance (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5366158.msg58203735#msg58203735). Edit: dkbit98 confirmed with Binance (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5367331.msg58271894#msg58271894) that they don't have official accounts here on Bitcointalk.

User profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2625435
Type 1 flag: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=2857

This is a reference thread for a flag. I will update this if the account can prove that they represent Binance.

Edit: Binance Coin deleted posts referenced in this thread. I have replaced the links with archives.

Edit 2: clarified the title and added some context.

Flag against @Binance Coin supported as some people in the latest thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5366856.msg58233749#msg58233749) are under the impression that's the official Binance account, which has yet to be proven. Given all the red flags that you mentioned, 99.99% that's not the official account, meaning it might be an impersonator that is playing long game.

Binance Coin deleted some posts since I started this thread. Can anyone guess which posts?

Anyway, no worries, I'll put in archive links.

Flag supported, and I left him neutral feedback few days ago.
I asked him several times to prove if he is official Binance accounts and he keeps avoiding to answer, so I consider him a impersonator and potential scammer, until proven otherwise.

Binance Coin deleted some posts since I started this thread. Can anyone guess which posts?
Maybe he didn't know that everything is being archived in bitcointalk forum all the time, or he is just opposite from smart.

While I have read the title of the post frrom my email I thought that Binance Coin (BNB) is a impersonator of bitcoin SV. Latter I could understand after reading the full post of the topic. Yes, I think the profile binance coin is a impersonator at least it is not the official account of binance or BNB.

Yeah I can see how it could be confusing. I've updated the title of the thread.

Sole merit received from korner's alt (https://bpip.org/smerit.aspx?to=Binance%20Coin) (korner is the troll behind "Bitcoin SV" account (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5211434) that pretends to represent the coin of the same name).

The most interesting detail of all the red flags is probably this one. It's an obvious connection between "Binance Coin" and "corner" troll account, and it's likely another of his alt accounts. The flag has my support.

I suspect the person from the beginning but didn't want to accuse him without any proof. Conviction is not enough, you know.
He does the opposite of what a community manager would do. If he's really working for binance he should be fired.
Overall, I can't imagine a company hiring someone with such an English level. (I'm not saying mine is perfect but I know what level a company expects)

The real question is rather to know what his intentions are. I suspect 1 or 2 things, that only time will show. The account could be used as a bridge to hijack accounts on binance. Hopefully, nobody will get the idea to send him some private details in the hope to get some help ::)

More posts are being deleted... when I started this thread Binance Coin had 50 posts, now it's down to 37. Watch out for self-mod shenanigans (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5274729).

dkbit98, thanks for this:

I personally contacted Binance exchange to confirm that account Binance Coin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2625435) is impersonating scammer, so please stay tuned for final resolution until they reply to me.
Not sure if he is connected with corner or with some other account but everyone should just ignore him from now on.

I tried to find a way to contact them but apparently I can't even open the website via Tor and I'm not really willing to go on some twitface or use e-mail for this.

Good luck to anyone who tries to contact them, because I know from personal experience that in addition to waiting a very long time for an answer, you have the feeling that on the other side is a Chinese child of maybe 13-14 who has no idea what he is talking about.

However, reading some posts, I would not be surprised if it is really someone from Binance, their business philosophy is quite strange - because no one even knows where their headquarters are and how they do business in general.

Well well... After sending multiple messages on different platforms, I just got a confirmation and reply from Binance moderators that Binance exchange has no official accounts in bitcointalk forum, so impersonation is confirmed in this case.
Anyone can double check my words by asking in one of the Binance community channels of your choice:

It would be great if you show screenshot or link if you sent public message.
I did not make any public message so I can't post any links, but I can show a private reply I received from Binance customer support.
However, this can be fake screenshot, so you don't have to trust me but ask and verify yourself, like I suggested in my previous post.

That was obvious because if binance had any account here, they would have announced it on their site first. Also important thing to note is that there is no "Binance Coin" . If they ever wanted to have their official representation here they would have come up with name like Binance" or "Binance Official" etc. Binance coin doesn't make any sense.
Anyways it good to highlight this, because he could have scammed any new comer by impersonating Binance.

As far as I am concerned, I believe your word can be trusted and you are a reliable source.

Although it is not specifically related to this, but the Binance website has a page dedicated to verifying Binance staff identity, here: https://www.binance.com/en/official-verification

I want to ask moderators @Cyrus or @hilariousandco to move his self moderated topic (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5366856.0) from Exchanges to Altcoins section, or to delete it and ban him because he is repeatedly posting some giveaways (that are against the forum rules) and he is posting daily shitcoin stuff.
Posting just a few examples here:

I reported some of his posts to moderators but all they did was merge consecutive posts. I thought trolling was against forum rules. How do we prove this to the moderators?

There is nothing to prove here, and reporting of his posts located in that self-moderating topic have no affect at all because he is the moderator there  :)
I now have him on Ignore so I don't see anything posted from him anymore.

After exactly 2 years of Napping, an email address change and a password change. The troll/scammer is back (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2625435;sa=showPosts)  :D

Oh, I see. How much do they cost? It's certainly Kucoin who is paying them.

Completely coincidental with Bitcoin SV (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2371095) also waking up a few days ago (albeit after shorter sleep).

I don't know if he did that in the past, but it looks like that he claims he is actually CZ. I guess now that he is no longer Binance CEO he has more time for bitcointalk, therefore he reactivated.  :D

I ask everyone for forgiveness. I left my post for the well-being of users
