Title: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot
Post by: dkbit98 on November 15, 2021, 06:13:06 PM
Taproot has been successfully activated on November 14 at block height 709632, and that is a great step forward for better privacy on bitcoin blockchain.
It needs time for all wallets, services and exchanges to update and add support for Taproot but it should be much quicker than it was in case of segwit fork.

Some wallets already started supporting Taproot and I will follow updates and changes in this topic:

Software wallets supporting Taproot:

  • Bitcoin Core (https://bitcoincore.org/)
  • Sparrow wallet (https://sparrowwallet.com/)
  • Specter wallet (https://specter.solutions/)
  • Fully Noded (https://fullynoded.app/)
  • Nunchuk* (https://nunchuk.io/)
  • Muun wallet* (https://muun.com/)
  • Zeus wallet* (https://zeusln.app/)
  • MyCitadel (https://mycitadel.io/)
  • Blixt wallet* LN (https://blixtwallet.github.io/)
  • Breez wallet* LN dev console (https://breez.technology/mobile/)
  • Unstoppable wallet* (https://unstoppable.money/)
  • Bitmask (https://bitmask.app/)
  • Phoenix* LN (https://phoenix.acinq.co/)
  • Exodus wallet (https://www.exodus.com/)
  • Envoy* (https://foundationdevices.com/envoy/)
  • Mutiny* (https://www.mutinywallet.com/)
  • Electrum (partial) (https://electrum.org/)
  • Green wallet (partial) (https://blockstream.com/green/)
  • Blue wallet* (partial) (https://bluewallet.io/)

* Mobile wallet

Hardware wallets supporting Taproot:

  • Passport (https://foundationdevices.com/passport/)
  • Trezor (https://trezor.io/)
  • BitBox02 (https://shiftcrypto.ch/bitbox02/)
  • OneKey (https://onekey.so/)
  • SeedSigner DIY (https://seedsigner.com/)
  • Keystone (v 1.3.0 with Sparrow) (https://keyst.one/)
  • Jade (partial) (https://blockstream.com/jade/)
  • Satochip (beta) (https://satochip.io/)
  • ColdCard (experimental) (https://coldcard.com/)
  • SecuX closed source (https://secuxtech.com/)
  • Ledger closed source (https://www.ledger.com/)
  • Safepal closed source (https://safepal.com/en/)

Ledger wallet is the first hardware wallet with Taproot support and they made this available as experimental feature with their latest update of Ledger Live v2.35 desktop, using Bitcoin app 2.0.0.
Trezor and Jade wallet will probably Taproot release updates in December.

About BlueWallet which I have just updated (on playstore), I have not seen it supporting P2TR yet, maybe I am not getting it right. Only what are supported yet are:

  • Segwit (P2WPHK) which is generated by default
  • Lightning Network
  • Vault, which is a 2-of-3 multisig (P2WSH) wallet

Or, maybe, segwit is generated by default while possible to import P2TR seed phrase and work perfectly, but I have not tried this and I am not certain if it can work that way using P2TR derivational path.

You are right,  Taproot is not supported yet in Blue wallet and I corrected my mistake.
Thanks.

Nice thread OP. In order to help you to keep track of how services / wallets are being updated to Taproot (Bech32m) I think you'll find this[1] list very useful (as a complement to your thread).
All the information matches with the one that you provided. Glancing at the list I see that maybe you could add Fully Noded[2] as another software wallet that has updated to Taproot?

Thanks for suggestion.
I added Fully Noded wallet to the list, but I honestly never heard about it until now, maybe because it's only supporting MacOS and iOS.

According to this announcement by Blockstream (https://blockstream.com/2021/11/13/nl-blockstream-green-primed-for-taproot-activation/), their Blockstream Green wallet will soon support Taproot (if it hasn't already been activated in the meantime). If you want, you can keep an eye on their blog (https://blockstream.com/blog/). That post I linked to is currently their newest blog entry.

Cash App (https://cash.app/help/us/en-us/20211114-bitcoin-taproot-upgrade) has also announced that they will support Taproot. All their customers should have it activated until December 2021.

While I was scrolling through the link @RickDeckard (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5371499.msg58445683#msg58445683) provided, I noticed they've labeled "Bitcoin Knots as Starting with 22.0 (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bech32_adoption)" but if I'm reading and understanding everything correctly, they've already released that version "9 days ago (https://github.com/bitcoinknots/bitcoin/blob/v22.0.knots20211108/doc/release-notes.md) [having said those, I'm not sure if it's worth adding it since it's a fork of Bitcoin Core with some added features]". Apart from that, it seems that BitGo also supports it: Taproot Support for BitGo Wallets (https://blog.bitgo.com/taproot-support-for-bitgo-wallets-9ed97f412460) [credit goes to @RickDeckard (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5371499.msg58445683#msg58445683)]

To those who know about coding stuff:

  • Is there a "big difference [in terms of the effort that's needed for coding it]" between partially supporting it [e.g. Wallet of Satoshi (https://twitter.com/walletofsatoshi/status/1459782761472872451)] and full support like the ones on the list?

Here is an issue tracking the Taproot support in Electrum: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues/7544

There is no ETA yet and it seems like the support takes a lot of effort and may take some time since they plan to do some refactoring and haven't decided on details (seed version, derivation path, extended key scheme, etc).

Trezor hardware wallet just released new December update and they are adding Taproot support, being second hardware wallet to do this after ledger.
If you have Trezor Model One you will need to update latest firmware version 1.10.4, and for Trezor Model T that is version 2.4.3.
They added more small fixes and improvements in this update, and note that it may take some time until update is shown in your Trezor Suite app.
After this update you will have new Account type option and Taproot addresses BIP86, P2TR, Bech32m.

List of wallets is updated today.
BitBox02 is third hardware wallet that is now officially supporting Taproot addresses after updating to latest firmware v9.10.0 and app version 4.32.0.
This was expected update for me after Trezor released their support, knowing that Bitbox is based on modified Trezor code, but it's nice to see more wallets that support Taproot.
You can see more details about this update ontheir blog page, and inspect open source code on their github page:

Earlier this month, "Nunchuk (https://twitter.com/nunchuk_io/status/1511365917808103426)" also added support for Taproot addresses:
- I only checked their Android app, but it's not limited to that OS + it's still in beta mode!

Not sure if the above lists are limited to SW and HW wallets only, but there are also a couple of web wallets [Bitnob and BitGo] with Taproot support.

I added Nunchuk wallet and updated the list, thanks to SFR10 for posting his suggestion.
I noticed this wallet some time ago and it has some interesting features, but I never managed to test it myself so far, but I downloaded it now.
Interesting feature that is offering is Air-gapped signing, and no single points of failure, but I am not sure how exactly that works.

I think your list has to stick to popular and reviewed wallets that support Taproot instead of any random low quality ones that add the support. Or at least clarify that your list is not an endorsement of the said wallets. For example I took a quick look at Nunchuk and their repository (https://github.com/nunchuk-io) doesn't look very active after 2 years and the wallet is definitely not popular. I don't think anybody has ever reviewed this.

  • Bitcoin Core (manual import) (https://bitcoincore.org/)
-snip-
You can update this now, no need for manual import through the console/command.
Bitcoin Core version 23.0 now creates descriptor wallets with Taproot parent descriptors by default.

And it's now possible to request Bitcoin taproot "bech32m" address from the GUI's receive tab if the wallet has the parent descriptor:
https://i.imgur.com/3rwCZYt.png

Reference:
Wallet
  • Descriptor wallets are now the default wallet type. Newly created wallets
    will use descriptors unless descriptors=false is set during createwallet, or
    the Descriptor wallet checkbox is unchecked in the GUI.

  • Newly created descriptor wallets will contain an automatically generated tr()
    descriptor which allows for creating single key Taproot receiving addresses.

Thank you for reporting.
List is now updated and manual import removed from Bitcoin Core wallet.

No new wallets to report, but Keystone hardware wallet is currently working on adding Taproot support and they should be fourth hardware wallet that supports it, after Ledger, Trezor and BitBox02.

If I understand correctly then Taproot is 4th type of address format.

Legacy start with a 1
Nested SegWit starts with a 3
Native SegWit stars with bc1

How to identify Taproot address?
What are the advantages it has over a bech32 address?

This verity are going to be overwhelming and for someone like me who is old school it is going to be hard to remember 🙄

You can read this to know about the transaction fee advantage segwit version 0 (native segwit) has over segwit version 1 (pay-to-taproot).

Pay-to-taproot (P2TR) transaction fee (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5370591.msg58417300#msg58417300)

BIP 86: m/86'/0'/0'/0/0 > Taproot
Key Derivation for Single Key P2TR Outputs (https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0086.mediawiki)
For low output and more input transaction, like consolidation, pay-to-taproot fee is lesser
For low input and more output transaction, the fee for native segwit (version 0) is lesser (a very good advantage)
For the same input and output, the fees are almost the same for version 0 (bc1q addresses) and version 1 (bc1p addresses)

For multisig. Transaction will be indistinguishable as a result of key aggregation, even 15-of-15 multisig will have the same fee like a transaction made from single pubkey wallet.

Also it can help in lightning network while closing a channel, both party can join their signatures together to make a single one which will also reduce transaction fee. It makes key aggregation possible and generate a single key and schnorr signature.

With the help of adaptor signature, atomic swap is possible.

The difference in both addresses
bc1q... For native segwit (segwit version o)
bc1p... For pay-to-taproot (segwit version 1)

q is the witness version 0 for native segwit, p is the witness version 1 for pay-to-taproot.

I am not a technically competent person, but I will try to explain. bech32 encoding scheme contains a sophisticated error detection mechanism that can identify up to four mistypes in an address, and in some cases, it can tell you where those errors occurred. However, this scheme has a serious vulnerability which is called  "length extension mutation weakness" which in layman's terms means "it is possible to slightly alter bech32 address in such a way that doesn't invalidate checksum." In other words, if you accidentally make a typo in the address, your wallet still accepts it as valid, but you may lose your coins because there is no corresponding private key to an altered address. bech32m fixes this vulnerability by introducing a new checksum algorithm.

In addition to the answer that was previously provided. You can distinguish native Segwit address and tap root by looking at the 4th letter i.e tap root has "P" while native Segwit has "Q".
With taproot transactions verification on the Bitcoin network is easier and more effective. It aids lower tx fees and also improves privacy.

I usually copy and paste an address then I check first few character and last few characters. It's too much to check all the characters for a human I think. But anyway, I assume Legacy and Nested segwit does not have this checksum issue.

I never thought of it, are bitcoin addresses case sensitive?

Legacy and nested segwit addresses are case sensitive, taking look at the addresses, you will notice upper and lower cases, but native segwit and P2TR addresses are not case sensitive, they can be in upper case or lower case, anyone you use is correct, but I prefer the address to be in lower case as it is on reputed wallet

Just found another mobile lightning wallet [Zeus (https://zeusln.app/)] that "recently announced (https://twitter.com/ZeusLN/status/1543032946801537025)" they've added support for Taproot addresses.
- The only catch is it requires using "LND v0.15+"!

Update:
Thank you for posting suggestion SFR10, list is updated.
You're very welcome :)

I recently noticed that LND (Lightning Network Daemon) by LightningLabs added support for Taproot since v0.15.
It's possible that we are going to have much more third party wallets starting to use LND, like it was case with Zeus.
I didn't use Zeus so far, but it is open-source and non-custodial wallet and that sounds good.

I have heard someone mention that but never gave it too much thought as I didn't consider it something worth worrying about. A few weeks ago I did play around with a Native Segwit address and tried changing one of its characters in order to see if the wallet would still consider it valid. But I never managed to find a validly invalid address. I will check out those sources to see if they offer more information on what would need to by mistyped to trick the system.

I don't think a "slight change" in a Bech32 address could create a valid address due to the way checksum works, although you can't test it by hand since you need a way to quickly check thousands of permutations to be sure. Something like this where I replaced 2 characters and checked 719,872 permutations and none of them were valid.
Code:
string addr = "bc1qw508d6qejxtdg4y5r3zarvary0c5xw7kv8f3t4";
char[] addrChars = addr.ToCharArray();
List<string> result = new();
int totalChecked = 0;
for (int a = 4; a < addrChars.Length - 1; a++)
{
    for (int b = a + 1; b < addrChars.Length; b++)
    {
        for (int i = 0; i < Bech32.CharSet.Length; i++)
        {
            for (int j = 0; j < Bech32.CharSet.Length; j++)
            {
                addrChars[a] = Bech32.CharSet[i];
                addrChars[b] = Bech32.CharSet[j];
                string temp = new(addrChars);
                if (temp != addr && Bech32.IsValid(temp, Bech32.Mode.B32))
                {
                    result.Add(new string(addrChars));
                }
                totalChecked++;
            }
        }
    }
}
Console.WriteLine(result.Count);

This is the first time I heard about this wallet, and I didn't have time to test how it works, but good thing this is open source wallet and it supports Taproot addresses.
I downloaded wallet now, but I see it is owned by swiss company Pandora Prime Sarl, so I am not sure how good that is.

Judging by a few tweets I looked at on their Twitter account, the wallet has some interesting features. They are adding TOR and two other privacy implementations called Nym and I2P. No idea what Nym or I2P is though.  :-\
The wallet also supports lightning payments, and you can run your own LN node. Similarly to Electrum, looks like MyCitadel can be both a hot and cold wallet.

I'm not very familiar with it, but I2P (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I2p) is some type of anonymous network layer, reminding me a bit of Tor.
The MyCitadel repo has no mention of I2P or Nym, but I've heard the former being mentioned here and there in Bitcoin context lately; may be something worth reading up on.

Sad to see no new commits since July (https://github.com/mycitadel/mycitadel-desktop/commits/master). It's always good to have some more wallet options and competition in this field, as well.

Exodus also supports taproot addresses (not sure when it got added). In order to activate it, you need to go to settings -> turn on Advanced wallet mode -> go back to your bitcoin wallet, and turn on "Taproot addresses".

Thank you for making a post about this, I didn't know Exodus added this option in one of their recent updates.
Not counting hardware wallets Trezor, Bitbox and ledger, I think this is the first multi coin software wallet that added Taproot support.
List is now updated with Exodus wallet, but I am not really recommending anyone to use this closed source wallet, when there are much better alternatives available.

After checking the exodus mobile app, it appears that the taproot support is not there yet. You can only use it on the desktop wallet for now.

More to add: Blixt wallet (open source)[1]. Just like exodus, you have to enable it from the settings:

It's weird, but I never tested Exodus mobile wallet and it's probably harder to enable this in apps.
Just look at Electrum mobile app and compared it with desktop wallet, it's totally different experience, but they probably need different developers for this.

More to add: Blixt wallet (open source)[1]. Just like exodus, you have to enable it from the settings:
Thanks, I just added Blixt wallet to my list of Taproot supported wallets.
Is this Lightning Network mobile wallet that also supports mainnet Bitcoin transactions?

Yes, there's an on-chain tab where you can both receive and withdraw your funds but that's about it. It looks very limited in terms of features compared to Electrum for instance.

Any of the Taproot wallets listed support Taproot Address Private Key importation?

We use to say: "Dont trust, verify.", not everyone have knowledge to verify the code of one open source APP wallet, but anyone can generate a 256 bits keys and convert it to a Taproot Address, so, why most of wallets don't let user import his own Private Keys?

I checked Muun wallet recently, but I was discouraged with what I noticed about the wallet.

First, the wallet encourage email and password to be used as backup, that makes me think it is a web wallet. If it is a web wallet, it is one of the wallet I can not use because the least secure wallet type I can use are mobile and desktop wallet where my private key is not backed up on a cloud.

Second, you can skip email and password as backup. If skipped, the wallet will generate you 32 numbers and alphabets in total which are not seed phrase but numbers and alphabets.

So 'email and password', or 'numbers and alphabets' is the recovery code on Muun wallet, that is kind of absurd.

Any of the Taproot wallets listed support Taproot Address Private Key importation?

Wallet like Bitcoin Core only support private key importations, but it is a full client wallet, which might discourage light client users. If you can recover using seed phrase, I think that is enough because seed phrase is even easy as backup, for recovery.

Bitmask (https://bitmask.app/) online wallet, by Diba (https://mobile.twitter.com/trydiba) can be added to the list. Source code: Github link (https://github.com/diba-io/bitmask-core)
Announcement link for taproot support: @Bitmask_App (https://twitter.com/BitMask_App/status/1560412042204430336)

This Bitmask wallet supports Bitcoin transactions in addition to RGB assets, and uses Taproot transactions by default, as they say.

why most of wallets don't let user import his own Private Keys?
I'm not a developer to give an accurate answer, but if I were to guess, I'd say it probably has something to do with its security [e.g. depending on the type of wallet that was used for exporting it, it wouldn't be a good idea to import it in a wallet that's supposed to be safe (it might give a false sense of security, so it'd be best to either sweep it or directly send your funds to another address)].

and uses Taproot transactions by default, as they say.
It looks like it's limited to testnet [for now], so maybe dkbit98 should wait for the mainnet support prior to adding it to the list.

My opinion is a bit different. If it is because of what they think to be security, that means seed phrase import should not be allowed too, seed phrase can be from an unsafe wallet too. As secure as seed phrases are, so are private keys too with 128 bits of security.

There are wallets that yet till today do not support opt-in RBF, there are some that do not support coin control, there are some that do not support private key import. What I see is that the wallet developers of such are either lazy or thinking some features are not just necessary.

I didn't do this test with Taproot private key, but I think it worked fine for me on Sparrow with all previous formats.

I will consider adding it to the list (in future), but it doesn't look very good or reliable to me, and I never like wallets that tried to mimic metamask wallet for bitcoin, they even named it very similar  :P

I just found another wallet [Arctic] that claims it has "added support for SegWit and Taproot addresses (https://archive.ph/RyiwA#selection-1209.0-1209.44)" in their second February update, but when I checked their Windows and Android apps, I couldn't find a way to change the default Legacy address! I was wondering if someone is willing to check it in the other available operating systems [Linux, MacOS, and iOS]?
Note: It's not open-source (DYOR before using it)!

I reached out to the support and apparently, this hasn't been released yet and is still under construction.

Not sure why they listed it on the website as an update, but I have noticed that the changelog shown within the app itself, doesn't have these features listed.

Not being open source is a big negative grade for me, so I will not be recommending it any time soon.

Last week, I made a "comment on another thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405946.msg62038944#msg62038944)" about OneKey adding support for Taproot "a few weeks back (https://twitter.com/OneKeyHQ/status/1638142159114362881)", but somehow I forgot to mention it here.

In addition to that, I found a mobile wallet earlier [Xverse (https://www.xverse.app/) (they also have a browser extension)] that to a certain extent supports Taproot, but I'm having mixed feelings about its inclusion on this thread:

  • They have an "address for Ordinals (https://i.imgur.com/y9Xc4Th.jpg)", but if you make the mistake of sending one of them to the other, you can "recover your assets (https://i.imgur.com/iwwN8Tv.jpg)".

Maybe what they mean is to restore the Ordinal in one wallet, because when creating a new wallet there will be 2 addresses for Bitcoin Payment and specifically for Ordinal.

When we mistakenly send BTC coins to the Ordinals wallet that you should send to the Bitcoin payment Wallet, it can still be withdrawn to the correct address.
and when we send Ordinals NFTs not to the Bitcoin Payment address we can move them to the Ordinals address.

This feature is for "Ordinals stuck in BTC address and BTC stuck in Ordinals address"

Simply like Bitcoin (Layer1 does not support Ordinal Taproot) and Ordinal Wallet (Layer2 supports NFt ordinal Taproot).

You can see the full thread on Xverse's Twitter account.

Exodus wallet also explains the Recover Bitcoin Ordinal feature and then redirects to the Xverse wallet.

Dear OP, colleagues in our forum!

I wanted to open a new tsproot account (P2TR) using some kind of mobile phone wallet.

And what I found as a result of my experiments: I tested Muun, OneKey, Nunchuk, Blixt ... and a few more Android wallets.
It turned out that indeed bc1p accounts ... can be opened.  But none of the wallets gives you the opportunity to find out the seed or private key of your BTC mainnet account.  Thus, you do not have full control of the taproot account opened with a mobile phone.

I would be very grateful if any of you, dear colleagues, would clarify the situation and talk about this way of opening a new Taproot account via mobile phone and with the fact that you will have a seed/privatkey from it in BTC mainnet.

I just did a quick import test with the seed phrases of Nunchuck and I was able to successfully recover and see my Taproot address on the OneKey app [there's also an export private key option (Click on your account type > 3 dots > View details > Export private key)]!
- It's worth noting that seed phrases are shown prior to the creation of your wallet.

Thank you  SFR10 for your valuable advice!

I also checked this procedure ---> opened a Taproot account in Nunchuk, got a seed.  Then opened OneKey.  And indeed, the Taproot score entered for this seed turned out to be the same.
It looks like this is the seed mainnet. ?
However, none of the other wallets accept this seed.
Muun doesn't want to restore anything at all.
Blixt on this seed gives a completely different score bc1q....(segwit).
Blue also does not accept Taproot and gives the same score bc1q ..
In short, it turns out some kind of chaos.  :)
As long as I get it.  Maybe it's just too early for the widespread adoption of Taproot on phones.  But with Segwit, the implementation also took a long time.

By the way OP, !

Yes, there's still no Taproot support on the BlueWallet.

Blixt does not accept in any way seed-24 created in Nunchuk.  The seed that only accepts OneKey.  Seems like Blist seed-24 is the seed of the wallet itself.  Switching an account to Taproot simply opens up such an account in Blixt itself, and this wallet does not give you the opportunity to get a mainnet seed.  In any case, I did not find a solution - how to do it. ?
In this part, Blixt [Taproot] can be considered as a custodial wallet. :(

For those who already have a wallet, you can add it  this way (strange way to implement this imo):

1. On the balances page, tap on bitcoin.
2. Tap the charts button
3. Scroll down under the price/charts.
4. You will see a list of BIPs -> click on 'Show more' -> Select BIP86.
5. That's it. You should now be able to see the wallet.

Both mobile and desktop wallets are regarded as software wallet. Example is Muun wallet which has an Android app.

Wasabi is not generating P2TR addresses yet, it can only send to taproot addresses and also can receive taproot outputs from coinjoin.

I opened a new nunchuk wallet without email.  The wallet has that option.  in general, I liked it, and the seed phrase from it is perceived by other wallets, which is convenient and provides at least a minimal guarantee of saving your bitcoins in case of any problems with the wallet.  And problems sometimes happen, like recently with the Atomic wallet.

This means that you may register with an email and may also register without using an email or via guest mode as I have mentioned.

the custody service provider BitGo announced on june 30 the integration of musig2, a protocol for multisig wallets enabled by the taproot update, for their Bitcoin hot wallets. this means that a protocol standard that has been actively developed by the theoretical side for some time is finally becoming a reality and can henceforth be used productively. customers of BitGo can thus benefit from several advantages in the future, such as better privacy and lower transaction fees.

This thread is about wallets that support pay-to-taproot addresses in a way that the wallet can generate bech32m addresses, not wallet that support and that does not support sending to pay-to-taproot addresses.

Under 'does not support sending to bech32m', all I could see are exchanges. This thread is not about exchanges that support pay-to-taproot.

Quote
Does not support sending to Bech32m
Binance.com, Binance.us, Bitfinex, Coinbase.com, Crypto.com, Fireblocks, Gemini, Luno, Paxful.com, PayPal, Venmo, WazirX

Under 'supports sending to bech32m', not only wallets that are mentioned, even payment processor was mentioned and many other platforms too are mentioned.

Quote
Supports sending to Bech32m
AgoraDesk, bcoin
Bitaroo, BitBox, BitBoxApp, Bitcoin Beach Wallet, Bitcoin Core, Bitcoin Knots, Bitcoin Wallet for Android, BitGo, BitMEX, Bitnob, Bitpanda, Bitso, blockchain.com, Blockstream Green, Blockstream Jade, BlueWallet, Breez, BSDEX, BTCPayServer, Bull Bitcoin, CardCoins.co, Casa, CashApp, CoinCorner, Coldcard, Core Lightning, Electrum, Exodus, Flyp.me, FTX US Derivatives Fully Noded, HolyTransaction, Iris Wallet, JoinMarket, Kraken, Ledger Live, LNbits OnchainWallet extension, LND, Muun, Nunchuk, Okcoin, Peach Bitcoin, Phoenix, River.com, Samourai Wallet, SatSale, Sparrow Wallet, Specter Wallet, StackinSat.com, Strike, Swan, thebitcoincompany.com, Trezor, Trezor Suite, Trust Wallet, Uniblow, VBTC, Wallet of Satoshi, Wasabi Wallet

We should differentiate sending 'pay-to-taproot addresses' and 'wallets that support (wallets that can generate)' pay-to-taproot addresses which this thread is what is all about.

the custody service provider BitGo announced on june 30 the integration of musig2, a protocol for multisig wallets enabled by the taproot update, for their Bitcoin hot wallets. this means that a protocol standard that has been actively developed by the theoretical side for some time is finally becoming a reality and can henceforth be used productively. customers of BitGo can thus benefit from several advantages in the future, such as better privacy and lower transaction fees.
I am not going to add any custodial wallets in my list, and in general I don't support anything BitGo is doing.
If I remember correctly there was some big hack and vulnerability discovered recently with BitGo... but I stand by saying not my keys = not my coins.

Crypto.com announced a couple of days ago that their non-custodial wallets now fully support Taproot:

I can see that their mobile wallet (at least the android one) pushed an update yesterday too, so I'm not sure whether this update is on mobile as well, or just the browser extension as mentioned in the article.

I have just downloaded the Android Crypto.com DeFi wallet, which is definitely the lastest version. Version 1.62.0. It is not supporting bitcoin pay-to-taproot addresses yet.

This is the wallet that I have seen more to be manipulating the real bitcoin with altcoins which are pegged with bitcoin. In the first image above was the result after searching for bitcoin. I saw bitcoin and altcoins that are pegged with bitcoin. I clicked on bitcoin which took me to the second image with segwit version 0 address. I clicked on bitcoin which you can see above the address QR code and the third image was what I saw.

I do not know how Fantom network is special and not included with its fellow altcoins pegged with bitcoin. The address starts from 0x just like others and it is not bitcoin but just an altcoin.

Thank you for suggestion but if crypto.com is custodial closed source wallet like I think it is, than I won't add it on my list right now.
Maybe in future I could add additional category for custodial wallets but I am not supporting them in any way, and for me they work more like centralized exchanges than like wallets.

It is just like Coinbase.com (a custodial wallet) or Coinbase Pro (a centralized exchange) that are having Coinbase noncustodial wallet. Crypto.com is an exchange that is having noncustodial wallet called Crypto.com DeFi wallet. But it would definitely be a close source wallet.

As mentioned above, the wallet is non-custodial (or so they claim)[1]. The desktop version is open source, but the mobile/browser extension is not.

If you don't want to list it because it's closed source, then you should probably remove Exodus from the list as well.

Well Exodus was always grey-listed here as you can see, and I only added it because it existed for a long time.

I will add Passport when they add full Taproot support.

Not sure if you're still against the idea of listing BitMask[1] but they recently updated the wallet and now they now support the mainnet.

It also looks like OKX wallet (closed-source/non custodial) supports Taproot (I thought we already spoke about it here, but apparently not)

List is updated with few more wallets thanks to your suggestions.
Nunchuk wallet has full Taproot support for some time and it is getting more popular solution for multisig setup and non-KYC inheritance plans.
Bitmask is new wallet that can work as browser extension or web wallet, and it supports Bitcoin Network with Taproot,  Lightning Network, RGB, and other features.

I am considering all custodial wallets similar like centralized exchanges so I won't be adding them in this list any time soon.

Do your own research before using any wallet even if they are open source.

Only that I tried with success to sweep a taproot address was Samourai Wallet.

Is there some taproot address expert here that could answer to some questions?

I'm trying to confirm if there is any type of taproot address with or without tweak that protects our public key identity until 1st move, somebody can answer that?

That is how bitcoin is. So far you do not make any transaction, your address public key can not be known.

If you want to ask questions, make the questions clear and easy to understand.

I think what he's saying is that the only wallet he managed to sweep funds with from a taproot address, is Samourai wallet and according to the wallet's site, it should be possible to send funds to this type of address[1]. You can't generate them though.

Likely that is what he meant. But I think most wallet will do that because bitcoin users can send from one address type to another because one address type is compatible with other different ones because that is how it is. Although, I have not tested sending from pay-to-taproot address on one wallet to wallets that are not supporting it like Electrum, but I think such reputed wallet will make such transaction to be successful.

Blixt is already listed, but I don't think this wallet is supporting bitcoin main chain.
It is meant to be used only as Lightning Network wallet.

From what I found on their website this is not meant to be used for normal transactions, only for opening LN channels:

Right now, the main purpose of this on-chain wallet is to manage the opening and closing of LN channels and not for regular day to day payments using on-chain transactions.

Just noticed "Breez (https://breez.technology/mobile/)" also supports Taproot addresses [since June (https://github.com/breez/breez/pull/209)], but it requires using the dev console:

I talked before about Onekey hardware wallet supporting Taproot addresses, but it looks like that OneKey app can work even without hardware wallet.
There is option for Taproot address, and I think they are supporting additional ordinals and brc-20 tokens, with other shitcoins.
Onekey should be open source, but do your own research first.

I think you have a thread that you can use to notify people about this: 16 Bitcoin Software Wallets, compared feature by feature (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5465351.0)

It may work in both way i.e. either as a standalone app independent from Passport or as a watch-only-wallet for Passport.

You choose the way you like at the first Envoy launch by selecting one of two opts - "Manage Passport" (watch-only) or "Set UP Envoy Wallet" (stand alone).

For desktop devices, it's really not that easy to get it to work. You need to have a certain version of Chrome as well as Windows 11.

It's smoother on mobile devices, but like I said in a previous post, it lacks some features but I would still keep an eye on them, if you're not willing to add them now.

TouchID is not necessary but you do need to be at least on macOS Ventura for Safari to support passkeys. You also need to have two-factor authentication enabled for your Apple ID.

The annoying thing about this wallet is that even simple things like viewing your receiving address brings up a passkey prompt on your screen requiring extra clicks.

The wallet doesn’t use mnemonics so if the website goes offline it seems like there is no way to recover it. According to their FAQ, it is impossible for anyone including yourself to export the private key.

Quote
Can I export the private key or mnemonic phrase?
Your private keys are securely stored in your device's hardware security module (HSM), which means no one can export the key including yourself.

I just noticed there are two Nunchuck entries on the list [is it intentional?].
This was a mistake, but I corrected it now.
Thanks for noticing and reporting.

Indeed, they are... I just finished listening to a podcast [from Ben (one of their team members)] regarding the former, but I'm still not sure if this is "really" going to be different from other stablecoins that can be frozen in our wallets.

Thanks for noticing and reporting.
You're very welcome :)

Somehow, I forgot to mention that SafePal also added support for Taproot addresses back in December of last year [credit goes to @taufik123 for this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5257785.msg63414785#msg63414785)].
- A walk-through from SafePal (https://youtu.be/NUIZ23HyVCg?t=40).

Do you know if this Taproot support is available for all Safepal hardware wallet devices, S1, S1 pro and X1?
I don't like or support Satochop products, especially with their shady licensing and low quality, but I am trying to be neutral as much as possible with this list.
Satochip added.

Not sure If I should ask here or not. I have found a wallet named Xverse and it has Android and iOS wallets. It has a Chrome extension as well for PC users. Now, I have noticed the wallet provides a P2SH address to receive Bitcoin but it also provides a taproot address to receive ordinals, BRC-20, and runes as well. This is kind of the latest updated wallet. But my question is, can I receive Bitcoin with that taproot address or not? It's specifically noted that the address is to receive Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens. Has anyone used it?

Aside from that note, there's a pop-up that explicitly tells the user not to send Bitcoins to it.
This message:

And if that's not convincing enough, for actual testing, it can be done by switching to testnet in 'Settings Icon' (lower-right)->"Change Network".
I've sent tBTC to my test xverse wallet's TapRoot address and it didn't arrive.

Thanks for this. I don't know why I haven't noticed this one. Probably I was rushing when I created the wallet and didn't read anything except writing the seed phrases. I am feeling good that I ask this in this thread before making any transaction. I was in confusion so I wrote here to see if there are any users of this wallet. This is another example why we should be more careful during the wallet creation and we should read as much information as we can. In my case, the best guess is I closed those pop-up without even looking at it.

I've tested that they are using standard derivation paths and key derivation methods.
If ever, it'll be more of an inconvenience than lost bitcoins.

In case someone did that: Backup the seed phrase, import it to Sparrow by selecting Script Type: "TapRoot (P2TR)", set the default derivation path.
And the same address will be restored in Sparrow, first in the address list.
