Title: Accepting Bitcoins at the swap meet.
Post by: Distribution on December 04, 2011, 08:24:29 PM
Although nobody paid with them, it seemed like everyone knew what they were.

"Everyone" knew what Bitcoins were, where?

I'm surprised at how many people I work with actually have heard of Bitcoins before.  All of them seem to have read an article at some point, went "that's neat" and then immediately lost interest and never did anything with it.

I live in San Francisco, involved in the tech community and I'd say more than half the people I speak with know about Bitcoin and about 10% really really know Bitcoin. It's surprising how well some people understand it and how many people really are supportive.

I don't think I could say the same if I still lived in a small North Carolina town like I did a few years back but give it time.

I'm stuck in North Carolina, but I'm going to be fleeing to Florida instead.

The explanation I got from someone was that there were a lot of NPR listeners there. I guess NPR listeners know Bitcoin.

Yeah interviews apparently pop up there every now and then.
