Title: Costs for a Mining Pool Provider?
Post by: bitcoinwin on December 13, 2021, 04:08:35 AM
What are the associated costs for running a mining pool?

Would really like to get an idea of the actual costs of being a pool provider, whether that be software, employees, etc. Sparked my interest as Foundry runs a pool with a 0% fee which I can't imagine is sustainable long term (even though I know they offer other services).

So do you have a plan to make a mining pool?

It won't cost anything if you run a mining pool with your own PC there are open source code out there called Yiimp you can find it with this link below

It only costs you if you going to host it to VPS and buy a domain.

But it most certainly will cost you if you aren't doing it as a joke.
You need a fast world wide network to distribute your blocks.

You'll need baremetal servers for nodes : 170 USD per month
VPS for pools : 30 USD per month
VPS for database : 30 USD per month

multiplied by each continent.

A lot of engineering (60 000 USD per year for each employee to scale your mining pool)
