I don't use their platform but if you're having difficulties getting in touch with the support,  I would suggest reaching out to their representative on the forums, he's very responsive: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=148073

Unfortunately, this expected when you use a centralized exchange. Your account was probably flagged because of some transactions, and they are now trying to collect data to prove that you are either guilty or innocent. Have they told you why your account is blocked?

I think it's that kind of situation where a particular account is pinpointed for the KYC/AML check instead of all the customers, otherwise we would be seeing a lot more complaints if many people were affected.

Afaik cex.io has the option for users to refuse KYC and withdraw their funds (but exceptions may apply?) so if you're fine with parting ways with them, you can try to bring that up next time you talk to them.

OP should better contact in PM the provided account above as he is recently online.
Also, you can give this link to him but you need to be more specific with your problem as your statement is quite vague.
But usually, it is about their AML/KYC policies. It has been 3 months and you are just asking this now.
If you feel you are not violating any of their terms, better follow-up your case diligently.

This terrifies me! I'm about to use an exchange to sell for the first time & this was one of the ones I was considering, along with Bitstamp and Coinbase. I want to be able to sell and get a withdrawal to my bank account within one business day, which is what Bitstamp seems to say is possible. Am I being over-optimistic in thinking such a thing is possible and is Bitstamp a good choice for a UK resident?

Aside from information above. You could try on contacting them on here.
https://cex.io/contacts

3 months time of waiting for some response is surely a poor customer service.
Hope you could have some response soon.

As long as you're using centralized exchanges, there's always a risk of something like this happening. Your first picks are all established CEX so that's a good start when it comes to lowering the risks that comes with it.

It seems possible (https://www.bitstamp.net/faq/how-long-does-a-withdrawal-take-to-get-to-my-bank-account/) and maybe a local would be able to answer your last question better? head over to /r/BitcoinUK/ (https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinUK/)

Meta: latter stuff were kinda off topic, I suggest creating your own thread for it  :D

Hi Anybody having issues with CEX.io and blocked account. Asking for tons of information and holding account blocked going on for about 3 months now.

Your concern is related to the AML/KYC check which is completely standard on a regulated platform.

We would like you to make sure you have answered all the requests and provided all the required information because, in fact, such limitations cannot be applied if the user is cooperative.

Please be advised that the procedure on our platform is performed by our Compliance Officers and implies a thorough investigation of all the information provided by the customer. We'd like to inform you that it is indeed not fast because the details are checked manually and with all due diligence. Still, it doesn't take months if the requests are fulfilled.

Also, we'd like to mention that CEX.IO never withholds the users' funds and you're absolutely free to stop cooperation with CEX.IO and withdraw all your assets. You just need to inform the team about your decision. We hope you won't go that way, still, we want you to know about such an option that proves once again that any scam actions from us are totally excluded.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in advance.

Between bitstamp and coinbase? AFAIK both of them are pure centralized. Or if you mean which exchanges are not centralized except from the two exchange earlier, you can reffer to this post > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5103776.0.

I use cex.io and I never had a problems with them. Maybe the OP have dome something that is against their rules, that is why they blocked his account. It is normal for them to ask information so that they will verify if you are guilty or not and they can also use this information against you if ever you have proven to be guilty. I see that cex.io have replied, I hope this can help the op to calm down a bit as things are being sorted out.

Title: Re: CEX.io SUSPENDED MY ACCOUNT FOR OVER 4 MONTHS!
Post by: Sofia21 on March 25, 2022, 04:55:49 PM
My personal CEX.io account has been suspended since November 2021!

They said it was due to KYC requirements (we are familiar to KYC since I am an entrepreneur dealing with those requirements for many years without any problem). My husband, my companies and I had keep sending to CEX.io dozens of documents with extremely detailed and private information... every time they ask for something else or for the same information already being sent ... never is enough. Besides, they keep changing the person we are dealing with, from Emilia to Clair to Richard to Igor.... they keep saying the same, that the process takes long because and the review is personal and must I keep waiting  ... and well has been over 4 months!

At this point I realized that i feel like l am trying to proof that I have never been dealing with drugs, prostitution or terrorism or anything illegal in my life!... instead of KYC being a process of altruistic purpose that honest citizens are happy to comply with.

I had requested several times to be called by a manager or supervisor on the 16th March 9 days ago Igor Gasanov email me saying just the same keep waiting...

I dont think any investor or business can stand this sort of treatment. This way to conduct business is unacceptable.

I had been extremely patient, due to that money invested are my savings and a long term investment.

Definetelly I want to close my accounts immediately and take my money and cryptos out. I am sure there are other  more efficient honest companies to deal with. I had ask for that too and am as well waiting to be informed on the process. I hope is not taken another 4 months???

Can someone kindly advise on what other routes can be taken to get my money back and what authorities can be reported to about these dealings?

I will be posting this in other forums to get public awareness of what is going on at CEX.IO

Have you talked to the support about closing your account? If yes, what was their response about your proposed move?

Their representative here talked about it being possible. I don't know if it can apply to your case to, but hey, It doesn't hurt to inquire from him - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=148073

I think it's normal to have their representatives change to handle and reply every case that they have due to the volume that they might be getting. I have experienced that behavior from other exchanges.

But it's terrible to have you KYCed yet you're still on the process for that long, since November 2021!

I'll feel the same as you if that happens to me and my money is being kept there and I can't withdraw it despite being compliant to their requirements. Even they've said that their customers are free to flee from the obligation of cooperating with them and freely withdraw the funds, still it could take time to process it and yours is quite long already.

What I've seen with the same problem before was that they've really taken the attention of the exchange and posted in many forums and as well as social medias if they seem not to be serious handling your account. This isn't for CEX.io to be specific but from what I've read, it's from other exchanges.

And they've done that until they were noticed.

The sad reality is reporting for this kind is mostly just for getting your records recorded so I wouldn't expect anything out of it. There is exploring your legal options but it isn't free. But probably hold these thoughts until after you've seen there has been no changes with cex.io since you've already asked to close your account.

From what I've seen they care about their reputation a lot. I say start your own thread about this and try to make regular updates there including if when your situation has been resolved (kinda like an incentive for cex.io as well).

Please do give us an update on this. Have you Pm'd their customer support?

They seem to be quite active on the forum still which is a good sign.

I used to use them and I think that a lot of people did at the beginning for their cloud mining services, but they definitely regressed over time. As someone mentioned i think there seems to be an option to refuse KYC - so perhaps you can sort it out that way. Best of luck.
