The Nazi regime of Russia started a war against Ukraine!

Today, February 24, 2022, at 5 am, a massive invasion of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine began. The cities of Dnipro, Odessa, Kharkiv, have already come under shelling.

At the moment, peaceful, residential cities are being carried out, without warning, being fired upon by rocket systems...

Yes, this is war. The Armed Forces of Ukraine entered the battle, they report about the downed Russian fighter. There is no particular panic. Explosions are shown on television in different cities of Ukraine. Russian tanks broke into Ukraine from the territory of the Russian-occupied Crimea. But Putin will not succeed. In the end, he will eventually fail. Putin has gone to a full-scale war and is risking the very existence of Russia itself.
PS. Five Russian military planes and a helicopter have already been shot down.

Aw fuck....I haven't been watching the news at all, and it's kind of sad that I hear about major events like this on bitcointalk, but so it goes.

I was wondering why the precious metals markets were moving higher and stocks and crypto both took a nosedive today.  I was too lazy to check what was going on in the world, but I'm going to check out whatever news site I can find when I finish writing this post.  This whole conflict between Russia and Ukraine is madness--since global politics is under my radar I don't even know where this all stems from, but my gut is telling me very loudly that an invasion didn't have to happen.

Well, if anyone was questioning how bitcoin would react to a major global event, just take a look at preev to get the price.  Altcoins have plummeted even worse than bitcoin did, so it looks like everyone is selling.  And damn, if I had fiat to burn I'd be buying like crazy.

I'm not certain but I think this will lead a bit to a financial decrease amongst marketers.
This is beyond control, the Russians have taken this to a large extent.
The NATO hasn't taken actions yet, Putin gave a direct warning to whom it may concern.
I hope everything gets better, I still don't trust the media bunch of liars.
First it was Covid now this, not good at all.

If they don't impose harsh sanctions on Putin and Russia today, it's never gonna be over.

1) Pull their SWIFT access
2) Impose Partial Oil Embargo
3) Impose Partial Gas Embargo

I really hope that the current situation will be the trigger that will put the brains of world politicians in place, and some of them have a conscience, and they will understand that Russia is the new Germany of 1939. But even more vile, cowardly, insidious, using STATE terrorism. And more, it is not necessary to conduct any negotiations with them, but simply destroy them. Destroy like a cancerous tumor of our world, completely and irrevocably. Russia should not exist if our world really wants peace!

               This is just so sad and scary at the same time. Just now, there have been several posts on social medias about this war really happening. There are even video clips which is really scary. I for one never really expected Russia to actually go through with their plans and really invade Ukraine to start a war despite the threats of the US. I  just hope this does not turn into something even bigger and that the parties involved would still be open for peace talks and somehow reach an understanding that would be good enough to stop this madness.

There is a reason why this has not happened already and probably will not happen. Many Russian banks are linked to non-Russian banks. Cutting off liquidity could lead to a global banking crisis and thus a devastating economic crisis. Putin certainly knows this and will not be very afraid of this threat.

An oil embarko would mean that oil prices would rise enormously. And the USA in particular is importing more oil from Russia than ever before. That's why it's unlikely to happen.

Putin just responds of "they're used to it", I know he knew that it will happen so this time is different and I think they are ready for any cons of this sanctions and war.

Well, he have statement of this as well, it's like putin and its government really knows a lot what will happen if they proceed which they did, so it's a huge risk if other countries in EU, US and NATO start to participate. This will escalate to world war which I hope not.

I think some big investors are starting to turn their attention to gold instead of stocks or crypto to take advantage of the situation in Russia and Ukraine. Some people still think of gold as a good hedge in the long term regardless of the risks they will face. I think it is a rational reason among the people that the attractiveness of gold started to increase as the situation in Russia and Ukraine heated up.

Basically this is a good opportunity to buy bitcoin when the price is down. However, vigilance over the ongoing war is keeping traders and investors from buying much at the moment. I myself am not brave enough to burn fiat right now to buy some bitcoin although I believe there is good potential for that in the future. We need to monitor this war situation and also need to monitor how the market reacts to it, so I don't think we should be rash in making any decisions regarding investment even if it is bitcoin.

Finally I really hope whoever you live in Russia and Ukraine, you must stay calm and safe. Take good care of yourself because sometimes money is meaningless when the safety and comfort of life is not guaranteed.

 Anyone to actually believe that Russia was right to do this for any political reason would be really insane. I have to say that there is a good reason for people to avoid a war no matter what, you could be doing anything to avoid it and Russia didn't. There are people who make complains about NATO, nuclear, potential war, and many other things like that to make sure that nobody would die. At the end of the day Russia just became the next NAZI nation and they are just focusing on killing anyone on their path to "glory" but I can guarantee you %100 that it will end up with backfiring on Russia.

Can't agree more! But not just Russia, China is in the same league! The matter of fact is that, both countries are ruled by communist governments and both of these governments are expansionist in nature. The heat Ukraine is facing today, Taiwan and Hong Kong have been facing since decades with China. Sometimes it is hard to believe that we are standing in 21st century.

This war has a grave chance to become world war 3 if other powerful countries join hands against Russia. China will then surely come to the aid of Russia due to its own vested interest. It's a sad incident to see and heartbreaking at the same time. I have couple of Ukrainian colleagues who are currently residing in UK. They are all very worried about their families back home. The global economy has already started trembling!

This is an unfortunate situation with this fight. Watching this on television in clips of Russia firing into the territory of Ukraine and making the people trying to leave for other European countries. I don't know evading Ukraine despite peace resolution discussion.


I think Putin is proud of his nuclear weapon and doing everything to go into war, well in war both parties have what to lose. I hope things come back normal and not to be a cause for world war 3.

Bitcoin actually didn't do too bad even if we count the lowest levels. We went down less than 2k USD from yesterday's lows. If you compare that to other major news:
3,5k down on US lockdown news in 2020
10k down on news of China banning mining last year.

I'm also buying got a measly 2k left in fiat in case it goes lower than 30k. For me the math is simple. Even if Russia and Ukraine disappear from the face of the Earth, Bitcoin will remain valuable for the rest. This is actually an opportunity to buy, but people in the EU are too busy wondering if they should buy fuel for their car today or tomorrow and withdrawing fiat from ATMs.

Putin is a mad man who wants to be remembered as the creator of a new Soviet Union, under a different name. Nobody but his puppet state of Belarus wanted to join so it hit his little man's ego. You are not allowed to criticize the great Putin or he'll react with full force of the Russian army. He's a bully and a murderer.

It is incredible that anyone in the 21st century, even a nuclear superpower dictator, would think that he can, with just a stroke of his pen, occupy a country with almost 50 million people. At the end of all this, what does Putin expect to achieve? That the Ukrainian people will accept the puppet government imposed by Russia? No, that will never happen. The only thing that can come from this is that those Ukrainians who previously weren't against Russia will now be against it, and the whole world will be against it as long as he is in power and as long as the Russian army doesn't leave Ukraine.

I am DrBeer. I am a citizen of Ukraine. Ukraine, subjected to fascist aggression by Russia. There is a full-fledged war going on here, with death, destruction, grief, tragedies of people, families, entire cities! I see everything not from TV, I see it personally now - I now serve in the Territorial Defense.
To be honest, I did not expect such a wide, international support for Ukraine! This is the total support of all countries, all peoples - I thank you all from the bottom of my heart, for everything - from words of support to financial assistance! For all the decisions that you make to help Ukraine, sometimes even to your own detriment. Thanks a lot !

Pull their SWIFT access: Not all Russian banks can be pulled out of SWIFT. This is because Netherlands, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, and other European countries on oil products. Since are no immediate available alternative, they still have to buy from Russia and make payment through SWIFT.
Russia might also seek alternative payment system which would affect dollar dominance and weaken U.S.  leverage over other countries. The US wouldn't like that.

Impose Partial Oil Embargo and Partial Gas Embargo: This action would destabilize the oil and gas sector and prices would go high drastically.   

 

This war could be a humanitarian catastrophe that includes the whole world unless world leaders act wisely. If NATO decides directly in this war, it may lead to the outbreak of a third world war, Putin today announced the operation of nuclear rotation aircraft in an explicit threat to use nuclear force if the West interferes in This conflict.
The leaders of the world should come together and decide peace instead of going to war that could be devastating to humanity if nuclear weapons are used. I hope that God will give reason to these leaders to stop this crazy war.
