Title: What to Do with Old Stratis Balance?
Post by: NameBaby on June 05, 2022, 03:25:22 PM
Hi, Stratis was closed and and moved to Strax about year ago and swap was closed last year November. However due to some technical difficulties I was unable to swap it to Strax.

Is there anything I can do to recover the balance? if so, how?

Have you tried out the process on https://www.stratisplatform.com/2020/11/17/strax-token-swap-process/?

If there is no luck, I guess your only option is to seek direct confirmation from their community or developers regarding whether the funds are still able to be swapped or not.

The portal already closed a year a go and you can do nothing for now. im sorry for your lose. You need always to keep up with the latest update to make sure if this will not happen again.

If the swap process already closed and that's clear if you can do nothing to get strax. you have been loosing your money. It seems that if you were away from the update by stratis and you didn't aware if the swap already happened in the past but in my opinion if the swap portal can be opened forever to make sure anyone who hodl the old token can swap into the new token.

Thanks for the info guys. At least now I can forget about this and move on :)

Looking at their sub-reddit[1], there is a recent post who had the same issue like you who is trying to convert their old STRAT to STRAX, but unfortunately, many people argued that the conversion closes a year ago. Therefore, I assume that the Windows conversion tool will be completely useless.

I have also joined their Discord channel and it seems that is still active. Perhaps, you could try taking chances through their support?

It is still unclear to me if he have lost everything, but this will be resolved with the help of the project team. There should not be too much difficulty in doing this.

op, The easiest way to convert your old tokens to new tokens would be to find and join Stratis community groups. I believe that they will have specific instructions for you on how to do this.

Snip~

The real pain of holding the shitcoins exist, most often the team swap the project and give very little timeframe to transfer the token or coins which isn't unacceptable in my opinion, if they hold the assets then they should be given enough announcement but its not really possible so the other way is just give them more time needed like really long not just few weeks.

But it's been already said that the portal for swapping coins been inactive for a while. How is it going to get resolved if the swap portal is now offline?
It's not like the team just going magically send OP coins from their wallets

OP should count it as a loss.

Sh8tcoin? Hhmm I am not really sure with that but afaik stratis was once a popular coin and a top coin. Swapping is also normal and it does not mean the coin was a sh8tcoin or a scam coin because if we look at other legit crypto projects, they also did the same thing and until now they are still here with their new look. I don't know why people on reddit thinks sratis was a scam coin just because they were undergoing on a swap process.

The project team usually warns ahead if this things will happen. It's only up to the hodlers of the coin if they are attentive enough to watch the warnings. It was their own fault if they missed it and they didn't swap their coins on time.

But HODLers or true believers of the coin  like OP end up getting fucked because they held the coin through the years. Imagine if you had your stash of Bitcoin in a paper wallet in 2011 only to wake up in 2015 when a swap to a new chain happened a long time ago and there isn't even any more option for you to swap.

What did stratis gain from having a short-lived swap process?

Not until it isn't.

With a billion dollar market cap, the project definitely remain in the top 8 in CMC[1]. However, the.NET and C# smart contract platform they provide appears to have failed, and neither investors nor the developer community appear to be interested in the services they provide. Now, the stratis Dev team decided to initiate this nonsense involving a token swap and altering the inflation rate after they ran out of money and needed to re-fund their failing project[2].

Swapping is also normal
Sometime it isn't, given their circumstances before they do the token swap. If the developer decides to change the concensus rules, it is highly likely that it's failing in the first place.

Normally, when doing a token swap/coin swap, like the IOTA one, there is a time window in which you must claim in. If you don't claim within that time window then you lose your funds. Sometimes, if you're lucky, like in the case of CNDL coin. They launch a token before the mainnet and you can choose to swap or keep trading the token on Ethereum. In that case there is no time window. I'm not sure which is the case for Stratis.
