Title: Teaching Bitcoin To My Friends| You're invited too
Post by: re-start on August 19, 2022, 11:21:16 AM
After seeing Mr.Magkaisa's post, I decided to teach my friends a little about Bitcoin. I know them through university, they are 25, 27 and 35 years old respectively. A few months ago, we talked about our work, and I told them that I am a member of a Bitcoin community.

They had no understanding of Bitcoin. After seeing Magkaisa's post a few days ago, I decided to call them and invite them to my home. First, I showed them a video on YouTube and then wrote everything on the board. They wrote down all the tips, and next week I will teach them how to buy bitcoin through an exchange. Maybe Binance or Coinbase. After the meeting, I had a good feeling. Teaching others is a fantastic feeling. If they invite their friends to this class, I can teach more people about Bitcoin, and maybe I'll invite them to this forum.

For now, I will teach them about buying, selling, and holding Bitcoin, and I'll use YouTube for video tutorials. Also, maybe I'll buy a book about Bitcoin (if I can find it); if not, I'll have to download a book and print it out.

Do you know a good book? Please let me know. (For elementary level)

PS: If you have friends who don't know anything about Bitcoin, start teaching them. Believe me, you will be happy after each meeting ;)

This isn't a book but it's enough to serve as a solid foundation to learn the technical know-how of bitcoin.

I usually do it the reverse way. Instead of convincing my family, relatives, friends, etc., to start learning more about Bitcoin, they’re the ones who approach me to learn more. Coz’ I don’t want to waste time teaching them if they are not interested. I consider them as interested if they are the ones who usually inquired to me.

How do I attract them? Posting Bitcoin-related news, images and memes in my social media. Travels. Lifestyle change.

They just simply ask what I do and I just told that I’m into Bitcoin. That’s it. End of conversation (unless I hear from them that they want to know and learn more about it, so the convo continues).

We can’t please everyone you know. There are also no promises or guarantees that they will buy Bitcoin even if they are interested to learn.

But in the OP’s case if that’s what you are really aiming for, go for it. Continue spread the word about Bitcoin the way you are doing now.

In the First place, I admired the courage you have by doing this thing to your neighbor, and sharing teaching to those people who are thirsty to learn about bitcoin. This is just my opinion, since they are new to learning bitcoin, maybe you should slow them down first, maybe later on they won't immediately absorb what you are saying to explain bitcoin. I'm not saying don't teach them Bitcoin trading, maybe it's too early to put them on that subject. Because most people here in this community know first. But whatever your style is, I don't want to cover it. This is just my advice to you that you have no obligation to do or follow, but if you do, thank you.

In fact, I found that they are interested to learn about Bitcoin. Also, one of them wants to buy some bitcoin and give it to his wife as a wedding anniversary.

Well, that's quite an odd anniversary gift, not sure about the romance behind it, but if it triggers interest in Bitcoin, it could give more value overtime than other more conventional gifts which are given during such periods.

Great that you're teaching Bitcoin to people around you; I'm beginning to find many of the posts about this subject performative, but if as little as one person gets interested in Bitcoin through them, then it's very worth it.

Trust, you understand that you are a member of a bitcoin community, it doesn't mean that here is your workplace. You can only boost that you go work here if you are a bounty or signature manager, you run some freelancing services here, I might not say signature campaign because most are  not long term.

They wrote down all the tips, and next week I will teach them how to buy bitcoin through an exchange. Maybe Binance or Coinbase.

I am strongly objecting here, you are teaching them or starting them on a very wrong note. You shouldn't be proud to take them to exchanges when you have not taught them how to own bitcoin and have their personal seed phrase or key. Teaching them the real liberty about Bitcoin and they can learn about exchanges as they grow in the industry. Their bitcoin can be freezed or compromised on exchanges.
Since you are their first teacher, please teach them the real bitcoin values because it is difficult to unlearn wrong things when they first sink in the medulla.

Congratulations for your great move.

Actually, you can't be a good teacher if you are not a master of that field. So how about I suggest you postpone the teaching class until you fully understand Bitcoin, how it works, the risks involved and the best way to avoid such risk. Because in as much as Bitcoin is a good investment, don't forget that it is also volatile, of which the price value goes up and down every single seconds. So please never you be the teacher who teaches only the advantage of Bitcoin, but whenever you teach, always try to make people understand both sides, so that when the time comes, they will be able to make the right decision.
So once again. I wish you goodluck

This is a great initiative by you. Really, this is aprititeable. What is best for you and what is most appreciable is that you start with your basic stuff. And I think you are starting with your family because they are listening to your lecture in their house clothes. And the best thing is that they look like they are so concentrated on this topic. You know, I also teach my friends and my younger brother about bitcoin and altcoins and all of their ecosystems. And I loved to talk about bitcoin and crypto. By the way, all the best.

A good initiative so far. I intend to teach but sadly this is prohibited in my country. So can't lecture about Bitcoin openly. I only would share with my nearest friends who are well educated. But sadly they aren't interested in that. Most people are just busy with their job and happy with that. They don't want to come out from that structure. Anyway, try your best to give them the correct lesson. If you feel any difficulties then share them with the community. We can help the right way.

I also have the same initiative as you about my desire to share knowledge with friends around. My country has never banned it and I can even open an open lecture to spread information about bitcoin to people who are interested, but unfortunately I don't have enough time to do that.

So far I've only reached out to a few people to teach bitcoin (my friend), but I can say that they are not very interested in this knowledge because they tend to be interested in trading and investing. I'm not going to force them to know the technically, but I have to tell them about the basics of bitcoin so they don't get lost even if they're not interested in learning it any further. The orientation of most of them is just income or profit from bitcoin, but that's not my problem.

Reading about bitcoins and watching tutorials to know about bitcoins can be be beneficial and a good way to learn about bitcoins, but I'd always say it can never compare sometimes to a teacher who can facilitate your learning process, point you in the right direction, teach you to avoid some mistakes rather than you learning from your own experience, shorten your learning time and be a quick guide. You are being that teacher and that is very applaudable, a good thing also is that teaching helps you know better, so in doing this OP, you are also doing yourself some good.

In the long-term, I would like to hear/know the continuous progress of your teachings to your friends and how did they apply it. I am not really a fan of reading books related crypto that much especially that I deal with techy stuffs and I would prefer seeing it in action rather than in words or figures.

Actually, you can't be a good teacher if you are not a master of that field.
If the OP has a relevant experience to it and would just wanted to show how it is done through YT tutorials, then I think that is sufficient enough. You are not required to know everything to teach someone. I am pretty sure, OP is going to share his experience with crypto and not just blindly throwing tutorials to his friends without knowing what risks involved to it.

That's very good to see people are started teaching bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to their friends and other people because this will definitely increase their knowledge and brings more demand to the market, on the other hand. During this week I saw many other similar cases where people were doing the same thing even the church and parks but regarding your case, I think there is not ant complete book for you to teach them and the best thing you can do is to start reaching through the internet and find the good syllabus for them to have them in the correct way also since they may have differante knowledge levels and visions of bitcoin you can start everything from zero.

Many people need that kind of education to know what kind of cryptocurrencies are and what Bitcoin is in general. It's a good initiative for your friends so they can learn it and maybe contribute to your community.

Maybe you can focus on different things as well like
  • Introduction to Trading
  • Introduction to Altcoins and differences from Bitcoin
  • Benefits of being a cryptocurrency user
  • Bitcoin Collectibles

These initiatives that you guys are doing are amazing and great. It's like a domino impact and I hope that the others who have optimistic friends will also rely on their call to learn more about bitcoin. I've done this before a few years ago and they're all optimistic looking at how ripe the price of bitcoin was. But, eventually lost their attention as they only looking at the price and not the technology and long term effect that they will love in the future. Well, I'm not wrong with those words to them and no one from those friends I've introduced bitcoin happen to really care and invested.

More and more users of our forum have directly got into teaching friends and family about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. As the market is getting widened more and more scams were happening around in the name of cryptocurrency. The education provided by the forum users will surely help the people stay away from scams and traps.

I wish to have a small weekly session same as this. Because, I see a lot of people getting scammed around in the name of cryptocurrency and the reason behind is expectation of profit without proper understanding about cryptocurrencies.

It seems not an easy task but we are getting there gradually. thanks to this forum for embroidering my knowledge towards the teaching of crypto to them

What a good friend you are, exerting an effort to teach your friends.
Are they the one's who were interested learning about Bitcoin in the first place? Coz if not, there might be challenges in teaching people about Bitcoin for the first time. Especially when it does not attract their interest during the first meeting.

I shared and taught a little, just the basics to some of my co-workers before about Bitcoin, I've showed them some results of my investments and it did get their interest. However, not everyone of them have enough resources to buy some Btc. Though some of them are now continuing to learn and invested as well.

It is really that commendable for those people who do consider out on sharing information bitcoin or crypto as a whole.Even though in small scale but at least you are still spreading awareness which is really good
since this would be talking about awareness and recognition in overall.Teaching up the one you do know or simply with your friend does somewhat help on spreading up about its existence
which would really be adding up in overall recognition which i had said earlier but not all people would really be that mindful on about sharing up this opportunity because it could
really be that hassle and most of the time where people doesnt really believe about its potential.

Even if they have no experience with Bitcoin at all, I am pretty sure they were really interested knowing more about Bitcoin. You do not have to be so interested in order to learn something. It kind of reminded me when I was learning C# and C++, while I was not fully interested in programming at all, but all in all I was still curious to how programming is done. When you get serious about it, you're definitely going to just invest time for yourself more and learn more about the in-depth knowledge.

Going back to the topic, surely money is not the motivating factor for OP's friends. Bitcoin might have volatile price but I don't think you would just learn about investing in Bitcoin due to its volatility alone.

bitcoin has begun to penetrate almost all sectors, so it is clear that many will want to know what bitcoin is and its explanation. the presence of bitcoin has made many people want to explore it well, where bitcoin has become a very attractive investment equivalent to other commodities that have existed so far such as Forex, Stocks, Gold etc.
it is clear what you said, friend, that with the reality that exists in bitcoin will make people always want to continue to explore and learn about bitcoin in full.
especially if you really want to invest the funds you have in bitcoin, it is clear that you need qualified knowledge so as not to be fooled, because we know that bitcoin is always changing quickly because of its nature.

A good initiative, and indeed a good target for introducing bitcoin is the closest people such as family and friends. Because it's not awkward to teach it because we've met often and are also used to chatting so it's easier to explain it to them, and do it as usual when we get together and discuss. And the difference is only slightly serious when teaching it.
I also do this initiative with my friends and family and so far they have felt the benefits and can also exchange ideas when gathering, and my advice is not to be too serious when teaching so that they feel happy when we teach it, and also easy to understand because they are people -close people who I think is easier. It's different if we do it with strangers, there must be someone who doesn't appreciate or is indifferent.

the activity you do is a good activity, namely by teaching about bitcoin to those who do not know about bitcoin. and Honestly I remember my first experience, when I didn't know about bitcoin. until finally my brother came and he told me about bitcoin, and at that time I became interested in bitcoin. until finally I decided to invest in bitcoin.

this is a good move mate.

I also have taught my family more precisely my brothers. even to my neighbors and friends.

But I use a different learning approach. where I use direct practice in learning. so it doesn't take much note or write it on the board.

like I made a direct BTC transaction practice. and my brothers and my friends also do the practice directly.
so that it makes it easier for me to buy an item from my friend. without having to exchange my BTC on the Exchange and withdraw it to a bank account and then withdraw the Fiat from the AtM. I rarely do that. now I am with my friends and relatives more transact via bitcoin directly. so that its usefulness becomes more pronounced.

and I also show hands-on practice when it comes to bitcoin as an investment. Of course I explained the risks too. and let them decide whether to enter or not on their own. and unexpectedly now they are even more active in investing than me.

even basic knowledge about bitcoinpun they become more proficient and know more than me. hahaha it's really ironic to see my friends and brothers become so much smarter in bitcoin business nowadays. although they still like to ask me about trading analysis. and I can only explain what I can. and again they seem to be getting better at trading hahahaha.

My approach is to make the people around me curious. so curious people will be much more receptive to knowledge. because their brains have become open to new insights.
Small steps like keeping a bitcoin basic knowledge book on the table in the living room where the family relaxes more. at first they ignored the book. but when they get bored, they start to touch the book out of curiosity and start turning page after page.

I haven't been able to formally educate like the OP. maybe one day the OP's method will also be used.

After seeing Mr.Magkaisa's post, I decided to teach my friends a little about Bitcoin. I know them through university, they are 25, 27 and 35 years old respectively. A few months ago, we talked about our work, and I told them that I am a member of a Bitcoin community.
Okay now, I see what is going on. Bitcoin education is going everywhere from the classrooms in Africa to the living roommates of bitcointalkers. I'm super glad. Your friends look teachable apparently because you have shown them the endless possibilities of bitcoin and now they want to be a part of it. One of the most efficient methods of learning is through the use of text, videos and audios. It makes learning super enjoyable. In addition to the book recommendations, I have also taken the liberty to recommend so podcasts about bitcoin that may also be helpful.

1. CoinDesk Podcast Network (https://www.coindesk.com/podcasts/coindesk-podcast-network/)
2. Bitcoin Audible (https://bitcoinaudible.com/)
3. Cryptocurrency for Beginners (https://cryptocasey.com/podcasts/)
4. Crypto 101 (https://crypto101podcast.com/)
5. The Gentlemen of Crypto (https://thegentlemenofcrypto.com/)

I hope it helps. Goodluck. Do let us know the outcome of your lessons.

If only I have the courage to open Bitcoin to my neighbors then I shared all of my knowledge about it many times already.
Unfortunately I don't have and the problem also is that, most of my neighbors aren't investing or just by looking at their daily lifestyle and what they are doing with their money, I don't even see them saving money at all so I think that they aren't interested in investing as well.

On the other hand, if there is somebody that I know who is investing into Bitcoin, I will try my best to share my knowledge to them and I will teach them some basic things. It's always good to see people teaching Bitcoin to others. That's only a few people right now but that increases the adoption of Bitcoin and over time, more and more people will try and involve themselves not only in Bitcoin but into cryptocurrency. I just hope that you didn't tell them that cryptocurrency is a "quick-rich scheme" because of how it moves during a bull market :P. JK but 10 for the initiative and the effort :).

This is something that is quite good by introducing things like this to the closest people and actually I also feel that before we introduce things further, it is better for the closest people to be taught about bitcoin so that when they have a desire being here at least they have a basis that can be used as a reference to support them being in bitcoin.
There are some pretty good threads that can be taught there and you can take a look at some of the links given because I think they are really useful.

I also did the same thing.... and some of the first things you learn from this training is this :

1. How little people understand about Bitcoin.
2. How much myths and FUD needs to be debunked
3. People do not know that you do not have to buy a whole bitcoin.
4. People are hunger to learn about new technology. (also how to make money)
5. How resistant people are to change and how much pessimism are out there.

One thing that stand out above all of this is ==> People think Bitcoin is a "Get Rich Quick" scheme and they want to see instant profits. Good luck with your training...... hope this gets much bigger in the future and that you will become the next Andreas Antonopoulos.  ;)

teach bitcoin to your friends and so on, that's a good thing, and the action you take is the way you teach bitcoin to your friends, that's a good action, especially in today's world economy is declining so by teaching it to your friends about bitcoin, it's a good step because it will open up good opportunities for them, namely in the economic field, and I think a lot of people are helped economically by investing in bitcoin. so your action is good.

I appreciate what you do to teach your friends about bitcoin, I also teach my friends who want to know about bitcoin but have a different way of practicing it.

I don't have the expertise like a teacher who writes and explains it in front of many people, but I explain while chatting casually and opening a laptop explaining how bitcoin with what I give them the basics as stated in the link by @Maus0728 there the book is already clear enough so they will understand a little to live the learning.

When my friend already knows the basics of the online book that he is reading, then I will certainly teach you about other things such as trading and other types that do not understand, so indeed after reciting this to my friends, at the time of gathering, the very happy feeling we discussed was always bitcoin and price predictions.

It's true, as you said, teaching bitcoin to friends is a very good step, because by giving them knowledge, our knowledge will automatically increase, we have nothing to lose, by helping them we will also get our own share, because the name is helping people other times we will definitely be helped by other people too, because of my personal experience, after I taught them about bitcoin even now our relationship is getting closer, like family relationships, I am very grateful to anyone who has taught bitcoin to others, because you saved their economy.

For now, I will teach them about buying, selling, and holding Bitcoin, and I'll use YouTube for video tutorials. Also, maybe I'll buy a book about Bitcoin (if I can find it); if not, I'll have to download a book and print it out.

It looks like this will be a long complicated course since you took the path of "Bitcoin economics".  I do hope your friend finds Bitcoin an interesting subject.  And after they learned about Bitcoin basics, I think the next step is tackling Bitcoin trading to take full advantage of them buying, selling, and holding Bitcoin.  Btw, great effort there teaching your friends about Bitcoin.

Thats good and very useful move, me too Im also doing that since 2018, not just for Bitcoin but also in many other popular cryptocurrencies in the market, until now I'm still educating my friends who are interested in venturing into crypto, and started from crypto 101 up to wallet set up and how to trade using the app, I also noticed that the interest to know more about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is increasing dramatically not just my friends but also in other people.

PS: If you have friends who don't know anything about Bitcoin, start teaching them. Believe me, you will be happy after each meeting ;)

Good to have the mindset of teaching our friends about Bitcoin and the profits both in knowledge and cash that acrue in it, but when it comes to teaching anyone it should be those that have showed an interest with a burning desire, not just because we feel for the person as a friend that's why we wanna teach him or her but because the person as a friend showed a driving interest. Only the interest alone is a motivation to the teacher!

I've tried multiple times, however I always get the same response after a few months. They tend to forget about everything we've talked about, and don't use that information that I gave them to do their own research. However, I'll admit that might be due to me being a awful teacher, I'm not sure.

I find most people that I come across are interested in Bitcoin in some way, but ultimately it's a little bit too much work to understand it, since it's not a easy thing to understand right off the bat. I've never attempted a class room teaching scenario like you've done above though, only really had one on one conversations. I think I've convinced one person to be interested enough to believe Bitcoin might be a better alternative, but to my knowledge they've yet to get stuck in.

Really nice initiative, for me I told many of my friends and relatives about Bitcointalk forum because I am sure that they will learn everything they need to know about Bitcoin here, in this wonderful forum there is a lot of valuable information about Bitcoin so it is necessary for all members to invite their friends to know about this forum if They wanted to learn Bitcoin. Personally, I don't think you need to look for a book about Bitcoin because BitcoinTalk contains everything you need to know about Bitcoin more than any book.

I have compiled some books and some documentaries you can use to educate them and also you can explain through these things what Bitcoin really is. Though they might not understand it for the first time, eventually they will have a legit understanding of it with your guidance. They may have the books, but you still have the key because of your long-time experience in this community.

First, I have to say that I have been in this situation before. My brother is about 40 years old and still has no idea about Bitcoin. My God, teaching him about Bitcoin was a nightmare. I just think some people can't really understand bitcoin. Do all students learn math in a classroom? Of course not!

Second, yes, the teaching method is very important. I recently saw a video on YouTube where someone was teaching teenagers about Bitcoin using flash cards. I think it's great.
In the end, thank you, and I hope you can experience the excellent feeling of teaching someone. ;)

- Top altcoins especaillly Ethereum and Binance
-Bitcoin hardfork
- aside centralized exchanges talk about decentralised exchanges and the use
-Talk about other sources of cryptocurrency information like Bitcointalk, Twitter, Reddit, etc

The thread you linked is really a nice compilation. I had watched plenty of techy movies like on involving Snowden which I am pretty sure many knows who he is, but I had never encountered any movies like that yet.
I am not really a fan of books though when it comes to Bitcoin, though I still read books but a different niche/topic instead.
Curious to how many more movies out there are focused to crypto, considering that  Bitcoin has been in awareness of the many already. ::)

I believe the things cryptocurrency beginners need to understand first are the history of Bitcoin, why it was created, and its benefits. You later move to the blockchain, how to send BTC and wallet (which includes how to use the wallet securely and verification of wallet like electrum)

s Top altcoins especaillly Ethereum and Binance
It was a Binance coin actually but I expect this coin, SOL, etc other altcoins that offer dApps to experience some major dump if ETH merges yield a good result.

No, I think the problem is with the person you are teaching.  You know, many people wanted to be spoonfed with information instead of researching stuff themselves, I also get tired of teaching people because they tend to not do their own research and just rely on the one who taught them for additional information.  worst is that they are not actually serious about learning because they tend to forget everything.  It is frustrating especially when you have given them all the links that contain videos and explanations about the basics of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin will gain higher value in the future, so it’s certainly a good anniversary gift for keeps. And the more bitcoin you give, the bigger the profits will be, as long as they’re intended for long term investments.

Bitcoin is a very interesting topic I guess and people who have sharp minds and wise mindset will definitely fall into bitcoin. I just hope OP that you will also explain to them that investing in bitcoin brings a lot of risks too, that is why they should only invest amount that they can afford to lose.

Teaching can still be effective if there is an intervention between the teacher itself and the students, as the teacher also learns from the ideas of his own students. With bitcoin, as long as there are good video tutorials that will help OP to carry out to his friends about the concepts of bitcoin and all its advantages and disadvantages, then I think his friends will still learn and gain new insights from bitcoin. And if they are really determined, they can also continue doing DYOR at home to gain clearer understanding about bitcoin.

I don't understand why some people are recommending the OP altcoins as a topic of discussion to his friends in a Bitcoin thread and Bitcoin Board, if they choose Bitcoin as a reference, then the OP is very smart for doing that because when the friends enter into the altcoin world, they wouldn't be brainwash by those lies they usually tell to convince people to buy shitcoins.
To the original poster, you're doing great work, you know the importance of privacy as I can see from the image you upload for viewers, don't forget to teach that in bitcoin. It is one of the easiest things we do forget to take care of and yet one of the most important things everyone shouldn't underestimate in cryptography, teach them how to avoid centralized exchanges at all costs.

Whenever you do make out some introduction or sharing up with information specially with bitcoin then of course you shouldnt really be that only focusing into its pros but also into its risk or simply
with its cons so that those people on where you've been sharing those information wont really be having that kind of positive perception and anticipation towards it which might cause for them to
make some bad decisions just because they are really that hoping or believing that much without even trying to look back on what are the possible risk that lies ahead or possibly could happen along the way.

I sincerely believe that any initiative adds up, but bitcoin really has to be taught like a school to an adult, not really, what is needed is to create a debate, you have to teach how to rebel, no !, it is not to create an anti-government movement, but at least if your friends are those ages, and with the power of current information, at your fingertips, today you do not teach an adult, today you ask him what you have learned, it is in everyone to propose it, and it is a constant evaluation to ask any adult do you use bitcoin?

With all due respect, I believe that this topic seeks to link or resemble that of children, maybe...

The sad fact about these days is that people have already been attached to their own jobs and have no plans either to create new avenue for profits because they are already satisfied from the income of their stable jobs. The reason why most people ignore about bitcoin and all its potentials to give higher profits compared to their salary wages. However, you have all the time OP to let them understand how bitcoin works and all the opportunities they can get from bitcoin. With your proper guidelines and continuous assistance on them, for sure they can create best opportunities with bitcoin.

Actually the world of the bitcoin is really broad or vague topic and of course most of our friends would like to join when we tells there's a chance of possible earning and it is good to enlighten them at the same time introduce to.them what are the possible risk they can experience again the crypto currency has no assurance with all the time profit.

No, for a complete newbie, I would recommend going with the OP's approach. It will be more practical and easy to understand, making it easier for listeners to absorb. When we talk directly with each other, we can share and teach them in more detail than referring them to the forum to start learning. Not everyone likes to read books or read articles that are dozens of pages long, not to mention if you leave them here as a newbie, they will be easily tempted with scams and hyped projects. After you have taught them the basics of bitcoin then you can help them create an account on the forum and you can ask them to continue their journey of becoming their own bitcoiners.

It's really good to see that more and more members are engaging into this educational stuff for their friends and family bitcoin related. This will help spread more awareness among people but you need to realise that before we teach someone we should have the adequate knowledge about the same and it's really good to tell them basic things if they are not too technical.

Second don't know if I am the only one who find it hard to clearly read your handwriting  ;D but if they are then it's good. One more thing that fees is not fixed but it depends on the size of your transaction and the congestion of the network and you can check them always or pay more if you want fast confirmation.

Definitely a great initiative. You can introduce the botcoin talk platform too, because even you go through these threads you can get an overall idea about this field. It's an additional support for you to strengthen the basics, of course. Anyway, all the best.

Before you do that you need to first know if btc is legal in your country. We don't want to get ourselves and the people that will join us to be in trouble. I think there are who know that btc is already legal in their country but still afraid to spread the word bitcoin on the people around them because they think they won't be interested and they are afraid to be blamed in case those people that they recruit invests and loses their money.

No mate the OP didn't jump on btc trading but as you can see in the pic, there is a whiteboard where btc introduction is written. He knew that starting in the beginning is more beneficial and won't mislead people.
