Title: 100bit.co.in - Suggest features to make the portal better
Post by: 100bitcoin on September 01, 2022, 01:40:21 PM

Lately, after the painful demise of http://preev.com, I saw a lot of discussion on BitcoinTalk mentioning https://100bit.co.in. This is primarily why I am creating this thread.

100 Bitcoin (https://100bit.co.in) currently works as a simple BTC/Sats to FIAT converter and provides Bitcoin price on current date for 10 years (including current year). Following currencies are supported...

  • Australian Dollar - AUD
  • Canadian Dollar- CAD
  • Chinese Yuan- CNY
  • Euro - EUR
  • Great Britain Pound- GBP
  • Indian Rupee - INR
  • Japanese Yen - JPY
  • South Korean Won - KRW
  • Russian Ruble - RUB
  • United States Dollar - USD

If any of you have some feature in mind, that you would like to see on 100 Bitcoin (https://100bit.co.in), please do mention it below. Feel free to wear our signature to promote this free service on BitcoinTalk.

About the price history.
In a 24hours cycle of a day bitcoin price moves. It can not be a fixed X. So you might need to get the time of the day too or may be need to mention that it's the H or L of the day. Keep it very simple like Preev.com

The preev site got popularity because of the simplicity.

Correct. That's why it is mentioned in disclaimer below that Historical price data is taken at GMT 00:00:00 on respective dates..

One more Preev fork and it's getting hard to keep up with everything, this is turning into real post preev competition, who is going to make better website with most improvements... so let the best preev win ;)
100bitcoin can you tell me what exact sources you are using for current for current bitcoin prices, and same question is for historic values from year 2013 to 2021?

As of yet, all data is fetched from CoinGecko.

It's good to have competition. Healthy competition gives motivation to perform better.

OP, My bad I missed the time on the website.

100 Bitcoin (https://100bit.co.in) currently works as a simple BTC/Sats to USD/EUR converter and provides Bitcoin price on current date for last 9 years.
As of yet, all data is fetched from CoinGecko.
You can expand it to the last 11 years by fetching the data from a source like "nomics (https://nomics.com/markets/btc-bitcoin/usd-united-states-dollar) [it has data starting from Aug/18/2011]" ;)
Note: I prefer to not vouch for its accuracy!

Well just to be honest i don’t see any use of duplicates and creating many sites with the same design and features, two days ago i saw preev.net instead of .com that was cool to remember and a good alternative  and it’s so enough, you should try new features and developing your website

I find it's odd that [1] Disclaimer, [2] Social media link and [3] Share/copy link feature only can be seen after user click bottom "Bitcoin price of the day: ...". IMO it'd be better if there are different button to show those information/feature.

I agree with you on that one. However, if you try clicking on the left or right side of the "Bitcoin price on this day" box, it will also work. Clicking over or below the box doesn't work however.

100bit.co.in and preev.net are two identical sites design-wise. Both show the same BTC values at the same time because both fetch their data from CoinGecko. 100bit has that historical price reference, but everything else is about the same. Which site came first?

I wish, I could. But, Nomics is NOT providing historical data with Free API (https://p.nomics.com/pricing). When I query for historical price data with Free API Key, I get the following response...
Code:
You don't have permissions to access this endpoint. Check your API key and our documentation at docs.nomics.com for details.
If any of you are willing to provide their Business API key, I'll be happy to fetch data and present it to all of you. :)

Except for 100 Bitcoin (https://100bit.co.in/), I do not think any other Preev alternatives are providing historical data on current date. Feel free to suggest more new features though.

Right. This is a temporary measure to keep the home page as clean as possible. Will probably change in future as more features are added.

Credit for the original design (https://github.com/handsomelatino/btc2fiat) goes to Handsome Latino (https://handsomelatino.com). I have coded my own to show historical data though.

Both sites use the same script, giving the same result in the calculator. the only difference is what is easier to type in the browser, or by habit.
As an owner of preev.net, I know why I started with this, (although I did not expect this much popularity around everything), but I am very curious what is the basic motive for others to create a non-profit site like this.
I guess, once when any of us put ads on those sites will lose their essence.

Sorry, I didn't know it came with such limitations, but perhaps there's a way to import CSV files [as a workaround] to the datasheet on your website [there's a free CSV file on their "Historical Data" tab, but you have to download each page separately (starting from "page 33 (https://nomics.com/markets/btc-bitcoin/usd-united-states-dollar/history/33)" and ending on page 41 (9 CSV files)].

The main idea is simplicity in presenting the data so I think adding more additions would be a bad thing.
I hope that you will work on the speed of response and more sources for the price.

Adding charts would be very nice, especially if it was similar to Khaled's way of working.

A little note: Putting a close bottom of "Bitcoin price on this day: September 4" below makes it useless, make a double click to close the menu.

I have a feature request. Is it possible to show Bitcoin address balance on a certain date time? I could not find this utility anywhere and I guess, this would be helpful for many.

that would be too much for this type of service, the main thing in this service is simplicity. As I know, bitcoin explorers like blockchair.com are already used for such things.
or maybe I misunderstood your suggestion.

How do I use blockchair.com or any other bitcoin explorer or tool to get an address balance on a certain date time?

Say, I want to know balance of 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE on 29/02/2016 19:20:21 GMT. How do I proceed?

Just enter that address on the main search bar, then click on Wallet Statement (it's just below the address). It'll show you a tx history, just enter your own date range.

So for your address: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE/statement

After carefully reviewing the suggestions provided, certain changes have been implemented on 100 Bitcoin (https://100bit.co.in). Some of those are as follows...

1. BTC price in USD is now shown at the browser tab as well. So, you may work on some other tab and can still monitor the price change.

2. Page gets auto-refreshed every 10 minutes and so is the price data. One gets option to manually refresh before that as well.

3. Live data is now fetched from Blockchain.com, instead of CoinGecko.

4. Historical price data of current date over last 9 years in USD is now shown in a chart. One may download the chart in JPG/PNG/PDF etc.

OP updated with new screenshots. Keep up suggesting more improvement features. I'll work on to implement as much as possible.

Despite having the option to refresh it after 30 seconds manually, is it possible to make the 10-minute interval shorter or even in real time?

Keep up suggesting more improvement features. I'll work on to implement as much as possible.
It'd be nice to have an alert system together with flashing tab notifications when it hits a certain price :)

this might be a problem. If I remember correctly, the CoinGecko API has certain limits on the number of requests. if many users would do frequent automatic refreshes, perhaps the use of the API from that domain could be stopped or temp suspended.

it doesn't have to be like that. preev.com has proven to be very unstable for the last year or two, with frequent interruptions in functionality. great if it will be something different from now on.
the good thing is that other similar services have been launched, and each one added some new functionality so now we have more choices. competition is always good.

You're right, but @100bitcoin mentioned he/she already switched to blockchain.com, and from what I can see in both "Stats API (https://www.blockchain.com/api/charts_api)" and "Exchange Rates API (https://www.blockchain.com/api/exchange_rates_api)", none of them seem to mention anything with regards to rate limits so perhaps there is more leeway.

I have been using the site for a while. Unfortunately, it's down for me too. It says it cant fetch the exchange rate when I checked it a while ago. I can't remember if I have seen the comparison anywhere else though.

I'm not really sure what you are looking for exactly. However, here's one site- https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=BTC&to=BDT&view=10Y
You can see the last 10 years price chart in BDT for BTC. I think this can help you. Not sure if you can get data from them or not. They have API for currency but that's a paid tool. I can help you of course if the fee is reasonable for me. Please check if anything is possible from this.
It would be great if you get data from Binance p2p for the last year but that's something would be difficult as far as I know.

Created a tool for this @ https://100bit.co.in/address.php. I have not rigorously tested it though. So, it is good, if you guys may test it with different address and date range and report bugs here.

Done. It now refreshes every 10 minute automatically and the price in respective FIAT currency is shown in the tab title.

Will be unnecessary pressure on free API. I'd better skip it.

That's an user specific feature, which would require user sign up to alert them at different price target. So, as of yet, it is beyond my scope.

Have had a glitch. Has long been fixed. Charts of all currencies should appear fine.
