Title: Cricket WC Pool Discussion
Post by: JSRAW on October 02, 2022, 07:02:15 AM
Okay Ladies.. We have T-20 WC in the next 14 days, and as usual, some of us definitely want a mutual pool again.

Posting here to know if anyone is interested to have a pool for the upcoming T20 world cup. Sorry if it has been already discussed. I didn't take the time to read the last few pages though I have read a few recent replies. We may try to get some sponsors for the pool to make it lucrative. Please reply here if someone is interested. If we got 10+ interested users, we can create one. If Royse777 or JSRAW is up for creating the pool, I'm also requesting them to have their opinion here. Having a pool would be cool, would definitely enjoy it with you.

Creating this dedicated discussion thread for entry fees and sponsors (if we find one)  as I don't want to derail the main thread. Also, we have a couple of bilateral series that are live so this msz will be lost there.

If we look at overall pool history then I believe the majority of punters (almost 10-14) are okay with $30 as entry fees. If you think we need some change in the entry fees then please drop your suggestions here.

I'll notify usual suspects who are regular in our past pools and bump this post in our T-20 thread too for more exposure. Plz feel free to remind me if I'm forgetting anyone or any interested party.

If 10 people participate, that would be 300$ pool money, and the sponsors, if any, then it would be even more.

My question is that there are how many winners in this competition pool?

I'm fine with $30 as entry fee, no problem if you increase it either but make sure what majority would be interested in. Recently, many soccer and other pool have been sponsored by Betnomi, maybe we can contact them to see if they're interested to sponsor this one too.

My question is that there are how many winners in this competition pool?
As usual, it should be 3 winners I think.

Count me in as usual. However, I am comfortable paying $25 as the entry fee due to the recent dollar rate hike which has affected all currencies around the world.

Honestly, I'm fine with the rewards decreasing since I participate in these contests primarily for the fun factor. This is why it doesn't really matter to me whether a sponsor would be willing to sponsor the pool or not, but it could matter to others.

I am fine with the entry fees and like Haunebu mentioned, i am here for the fun factor rather than winning the event because i hardly won anything here :D. IPL was fun because it was hard to pick a team most of the times as majority of the matches were competitive but International T20 except for the top teams it is not that hard to figure out the winner, so the competition will be interesting during the final stages.

Count me too, I'm comfortable with the entry fee that majority of the participants go with. Throughout the IPL season it was really fun to predict the outcome and also the participation made me watch every match. This time with the World Cup I can watch every match having fun. At times when we reach the top position on the leaderboard it triggers that we need to make the upcoming predictions perfectly.

LittleMouse already mentioned about 3 winners.

Prize % distribution would be the same as the last IPL pool (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5388369.msg59427884#msg59427884).
Quote
Distribution of the prize
Top 3 wins
1st - 50% of prize pool
2nd - 30% of prize pool
3rd - 20% of prize pool

Count me in as usual. However, I am comfortable paying $25 as the entry fee due to the recent dollar rate hike which has affected all currencies around the world.

Fair enough, let's wait for more guys to chip in. For the last IPL pool, we had around 27 Bucks as entry fees so we should reach on some consensus soon.

Edit

As I have said it in the other thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5102095.msg61044383#msg61044383), I'm interested to join in the pool. I have no problem with the $30 entry fee. Moreover, I won't have any problem if you increase or decrease the entry fee a bit by listening to the opinion of other forum members. Already 4-5 people has showed their interest to participate in the pool. 15-20 people participation will make the prizepool little attractive.
Yeah, I've noticed and did reply you there.

How about getting some sponsorship from sportsbet or BTC365? Has anyone tried contacting BTC365 again as last time they were the main sponsors of the IPL 2022. If they agree to sponsor the WC pool, it will be very good.

Secondly, there is still time and more people may join in, but if you need 15 20 people in the pool, you need to lower the pool participation to say around 10 or 15$ maybe.

Just my two cents on this WC pool.

I doubt they would. I haven't even seen BTC365 in a while. Regarding sportsbet, I haven't seen many sponsorship from them. Betnomi can be one as they are sponsoring a lot of pool for soccer competition.
Either way, I think without a sponsor, we should go higher entry fee but if everyone agrees.

Edit- I'm in contact with 2 sportsbetting site. Will check out with them, no much hope as I tried last time too with no good output.

Thank you JSRAW for the mention. I have been going through a busy schedule IRL, hence, couldn't be online for the last few weeks; months indeed. I'll join the pool only if I see a good number of participants out there. It doesn't make any sense to run a pool with a few participants; both the pool size & the competition. You aren't likely to have much entertainment if the number of participants is very low.

No worries.

I also feel that running a pool without at least 10-12 participants is boring. So far it looks like for this WC, interest is not so great. Nowadays most of the regular users are not active in cricketing threads and I hardly see them there, let's see.

Sorry I was not available from last few months. A lot has changed which effected the spending time on the forum too. But it seems things are getting back to normal and I am hoping to get active again. I have no idea when the WC is starting LOL but anyway I am sure we will be able to make a decent numbers to join in the pool.

Let me know if I can help with anything.

I guess there are at least 10-12 participants who are interested in participating in this WC pool based on what I observed. More participants could join later on since there are around 10 days left for the tournament to start.

Whether we get a sponsor or not, I really do hope that this pool starts without any issues since I really enjoy them.

Welcome back and can understand that so no worries.

It's starting from Oct 16 (10 days window). Well, I would request you to take charge of Escrow's responsibility again.

I count 8 participants in this thread so far. Little Mouse, Haunebu, eaLiTy, Vaskiy, Mahdirakib, RapTarX, Royse777, JSRAW.

these guys are missing @Pffrt @akhjob @Maidak @Swordsoffreedom @teosanru @7788bitcoin. I'll send msz to them once I create the main thread.

Guys, should we lock the entry fees to 0.0014 BTC (around 28-ish bucks)?

I'm fine with that and I guess everyone else will be fine with it too since it seems optimal overall.

Yeah I figure why not try it I need to get other passive income streams.
Passive income through a betting pool? How? This is the first time that I have heard of something like this in the gambling world. If this was actually possible, a lot more gamblers would be interested in participating in these betting pools.

Maidak is going to win every round and hopefully we will have some prize for weekly round winners. This way you can tell that there will be some passive income generated. :-P

Well, you are our reserved escrow for cricket pools from the start so let's keep the tradition alive.  ;D

Sure we can do that (0.0015 btc).
