Title: Is Trustwallet Safe?
Post by: ShafixNero on October 03, 2022, 07:17:17 PM
There are many cryptocurrency wallet softwares like metamask, trustwallet. I'm currently using Trustwallet to store my cryptocurrencies. I heard some people say that it can be hacked!
Can people hack my trustwallet?
Is it safe?
How to protect my trustwallet account?
Thanks in advance ♡

Getting a hardware wallet or having cold/offline storage wallet is the safest. Online or hot wallets are more vulnerable to online attacks. Trustwallet is an online wallet.

Trustwallet is also close source. You do not know what Trustwallet developers are doing behind. I can not advice anyone to use close source wallet.

Never leave high amount of funds on online wallets.

For safety, get a reputed open source hardware wallet.

I'm currently using Trustwallet to store my cryptocurrencies.
Trustwallet may be good for small amounts you many need for quick spending, that is if you are someone that spends crypto often, since it is a mobile wallet, it would make things easier for you to send out crypto through your mobile phone.

But if you are storing your coins for a long time, and your crypto is of a huge amount, then it is a no to use Trustwallet to store it, hot wallets are very risky, you can easily be attacked by clicking the wrong link, or falling for the wrong mail, store your funds offline in that case, you either buy a hardware wallet, or you can use electrum as a cold storage: https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.html

As Z said, electrum seems to have a very good reputation. As far as trust wallet, I don't know anything about it, but I don't like the name. Would you go to a dealership named "honest guys car dealership?" If they have to put it in the name, it probably isn't true. Maybe I'm just being silly, idk, but I don't trust them.

Every wallet can be targeted if you don't use them properly (same goes for hardware, although most of what you have to do with hardware is decide if you initiated the transaction and if it's as you expect - although there are still some issues with smart contract signing afaik).

Trustwallet is about as secure as metamask though and depends more on your computer's security than hardware would. If you are only using it for small amounts then it's safe enough.

If you're storing high values of many tokens it would be safer to have multiple hardware wallets with different wallets/passphrases to ensure you won't get scammed when signing erc20 transactions and similar. If you're working with a few altcoins but they're of lower value, using a mix of trusted wallets is probably the most secure way (and perhaps a hardware wallet for things you're less likely to spend or for coins you need larger amounts of - for fees - like bitcoin or ethereum).

You are right that you shouldn't trust trustwallet, but that's not due to the name. That's because trustwallet is close-source and we don't know how the keys have been generated and whether they are stored on their server or not.

Metamask is open-source and much more trustworthy than trustwallet.

Safety can be relative and dependent on personal efforts. Asides the danger of online hackers and cyber criminals there is also the danger of offline criminals who may be disguised as friends and you maybe may become very unsuspecting towards. Trust less and make a conscious effort to protect any device housing any of your wallet from plenty hands. Tell less persons about your involvement in crypto unless on rare occasions and when it is completely important, because mentioning that you are into crypto to some individuals is often misinterpreted to mean that you have so much money.

@Charles-Tim, @Z-tight and some others already suggested that you should consider getting hardware wallet or offline storage wallet.

But since you asked about Trust Wallet I will share with you some tricks and precautions that's might reduce the risk of your trust wallet getting hack.

If you're the lazy and greedy type then the chance of your account getting hacked is high. Because scammers tend to get some users by enticing them with some too good to be true offers. Let's say you participated in an airdrop and after some time you received and email or a notification asking you to claim some additional token worth more than $500 and it gives you a convincing writeup as to why you were selected, during the process of claiming the token you were asked to connect your wallet by inserting your secret phrases what will you do?
ye! I know the story is unrealistic but let's just assume something like this ever happens what will you do?
I know you might be tempted to just insert it and claim your free tokens but in the process your secret might get stolen.

Here are some useful tips:I know you might heard it a thousand times
  • Never expose your secret phrases no matter what. just as the name implies secret phrase should be kept private.
  • If you ever want to participate in any airdrop whatsoever make sure you create a new account. though it's not advisable since you tend to get token with close to zero value.

Here's a trick that could help you keep your Wallet safe even more. I read about it some time ago and I've been applying it ever since. I'll share my pattern with you but you'll have to figure out any pattern that works well for you.

Trust wallet always have 12 secret phrases and we all have the habit of always writing them out and storing them in their correct arrangements, which means if a scammer even get his hands on them it will be easy for them to get access to your wallet.

instead of storing the phrases in their correct arrangements why don't you do some rearrangement before you store them? you could take the last 6 words and place them at the first position and place them in the first position while the first six will be at the last postion, you could also arrange them to your taste.

here what I mean; let's assume the following phrases belongs to an account:
Car  Father  Tower  Curtain  Bitcoin  Smile  Touch  Elbow  Blanket  Window  School  Rainbow

instead of storing in the above format you could swap some words before you store them. like this.
Elbow  Blanket  Window  School  Rainbow Car  Father  Tower  Curtain  Bitcoin  Smile  Touch
(I moved the last six words to the front while the first six to the back)

or this swapping two closest words.
Father Car  Curtain  Tower  Smile  Bitcoin Elbow  Touch    Window Blanket  Rainbow  School

If it's 12 phrases rearranging it means that out of 479,001,600 only 1 is the correct combination while if it's 24 only 1 out of 620,448,401,733,239,439,360,000 Is your combination. but you have to remember your pattern so that you won't have to try 479,001,600 different times. ;D

Just be careful how you use your wallet.

Trust Wallet is a good wallet for mobile devices. It has support for many altcoins and that's why it is popular. It is the main wallet I use for Binance Smart Chain tokens. If you are interested in staking and defi it is a good wallet and should be safe enough for everyday use. You can lock the wallet with your fingerprint or face if you need the extra security.

You should never trust your memory. It's possible that you forget the correct order of the words at any time.
Forgetting simple things is usually normal for a human and I am sure it has happened to most of us.

I never considered good wallet those mobile wallets, Trustwallet is a closed-source wallet and we didn't know what's doing in their operating system, not like the open-source wallets we can always check their libraries.  In closed-source wallets like Trustwallet for example, it could be there's malicious or it could be due to an outdated system there could be a bug that can be exploited by those scammers that are very crucial to use and should not be trusted.

There's nothing good wallet aside from hardware wallets or ope source operating system wallets.  Electrum for Bitcoin is enough and Metamask for altcoins.

For multicrypto wallet, yes, trustwallet can be trusted and safe (that's for me as you will find others will say different because it's closed source, etc.), i'm using it for several years already.
But for stacking bitcoin i stick on electrum for desktop and mycelium for mobile.

But for total safety, hardware wallet such trezor and electrum is your best choice. But of course it still depend on the user's practice.

Considering that Trust wallet is closed source, even if you use it completely offline you may still not be safe.

You should never try to invent your own "encryption" mechanism because most of the times they don't provide you with any meaningful security and you would be running the risk of not being able to recover your keys ever again. For example if you forget your "scrambling method", you'd be forced to brute force it by checking 479 million permutations.

everyone already said that the safest is by using cold wallet and yes is very true

but I am user of truswallet it work great but yes I'm not hold lot of money since i don't have lot of money hahah but the app is great is like I'm already using it for 2 years for Dapp transaction and using multiple chain so far so good

but if you want safe a lot of money offcouse I'm still recommendation to save it on cold storage

This is a separate issue to the fact that Trust wallet is a bad wallet choice, but this is also a bad back up method. Scrambling a 12 word seed phrase does not add any additional security, and a good attacker would be able to crack any scrambling that you do in a matter of minutes. What is more likely is that you forget the true order of the words and inadvertently lock yourself out of your back ups.

You can lock the wallet with your fingerprint or face if you need the extra security.
Biometrics are not safe and are easy to spoof/hack. If you want a secure locking mechanism for some software or app, then you must use a PIN or password.

Any wallet can be hacked if you're not careful enough in keeping your private keys. But talking about open/close source, if a wallet is a closed source then most people won't want to keep their stack there. Those people that are aware of how they should keep their funds in such wallets would likely not keep all that they have with TrustWallet. But if they do, then it's the minimal that they can set on it because they don't trust wholly it and would choose better wallets like hardware wallets which is always the recommended one.

People can hack your trust wallet if you are not carefully to install any app in your handheld. It can be hacked if you are installing suspicious app that can hijack your phone and steal your data. You must not also blatantly connecting your wallet to the suspicious site or your money will be stolen by hacker.
The only best thing never try to deal with any suspicious wallet to make sure if your wallet will be safe

As far as security features are concerned, of course, I think Trustwallet provides adequate security measures to ensure protection similar to that of any hardware wallet.
and Trustwallet keeps user funds safe by performing regular audits, the app also monitors several other security measures such as pin code scanning and fingerprint scanning to add an extra layer of security. And those steps can be manually activated by users as per their business requirements.
and all depends on what you are basically looking for and your needs and preferences, and some people may prefer Trust Wallet, and some may prefer MetaMask, it depends on preference.
and so far there is no official news if the entire Trustwallet platform is hacked, maybe the device they are using has been hacked. And for MetaMask not easy at all, MetaMask has a lot of security features that make it quite safe.

the average wallet has its own security as well as trust wallets. This wallet is actually very popular, this means that many people believe in this wallet even myself. the thing we have to avoid is to be on guard, to be careful in transacting and entering web dapps. additional security try activating 2fa in wallet.
Activating 2FA is useless if your wallet already got hacked because the hacker can bypass the 2FA security.

I think everyone already know how to protect their wallet, the basic thing e.g. not share seeds, not connect random dapps, not clicking random links etc. But when we're talking about the hack not because from user negligence, it's depends on the code and the developer. In this part we don't know the code which raise a vulnerability if the wallet could be hacked.

I think trust wallet is the most popular cryptocurrency wallet in this time, because it’s backed by Binance exchange. And here supported a multi chain of tokens, specially it’s reputed for the binance smart chain (bep-20) tokens. I think it’s enough safe wallet but if it’s a online wallet, so you have to be careful to protect your wallet as like don’t try to sell spam/scam tokens if you will receive.

That can happen. The strong and multi-layered defense walls of any exchange market can be hacked, let alone just an online wallet defense wall if done by an expert, anything can happen.  so we must always be careful if possible not to be too open with what you have because if it is open it will invite evil to stalk you and using any type of wallet if careless it will not guarantee your property is safe

All the complaints about TrustWallet are not true. The major problem is that users may click on some unknown link and connect to a scam site or they may not keep phrase key in safe zone. However, it is not safe to keep large amounts of assets in such hot online wallets. For this it is better to use Hardware wallet.

when we use Trustwallet it is a closed source wallet and we don't know what it does in their operating system, so for more assets it is better to use another wallet which is more secure with offline storage wallet, because we don't know when our wallet is connected to the internet, criminals try to keep it, and that doesn't mean Trustwallet isn't good, if only for small assets you can use Trustwallet

Title: Re: Is Trustwallet Safe?

If you use a Trust wallet and only want to store your coins, you don't need to connect the wallet to a DEX that you don't know whether DEX is safe or not. In addition, you don't need to connect to the internet if you don't make any transactions and it's better to leave the wallet offline. A wallet is safe as long as you can take care of it and don't click on suspicious links. But maybe it's better to keep those coins in a hardware wallet.

Most of the people been reported that it was their fault for most of the time. From clicking malicious links, using weak machine etc. It's on the user's end fault most of the time.
If it's on trustwallet's end then they probably would say it immediately but the security of the wallet is just depends on how good the user knows how to make it safe their assets.

Is it safe?
It's safe, but the way people manage to safe their assets are different story.

trustwallet is very safe and I have used it for a long time, usually to use trustwallet you are asked to backup the 12 word phrase, don't take a photo and save it on your cellphone because other people can see when using your cellphone, you should save the 12 word key phrase in a safe place where only you can access it, make sure to lock your wallet and cellphone with your fingerprint or pin number, all wallets are safe it's just that sometimes people like to be careless and underestimate security so it's easy to lose their money

Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's safe. The problem with trustwallet and any other closed-source wallet or app is that we don't know how it works under the hood.
The main reason why people use cryptocurrencies and especially bitcoin is that they want to be their own bank.
To be your own bank you need to have full control over your coins and this can't be achieved by using a closed-source wallet.
Therefore, the main problem with trustwallet is trust not security perse.

it's just that you have to be careful in using your mobile device and don't carelessly click on the links on your mobile because it is very vulnerable to hacking.
but in my opinion if the crypto you store is large, I suggest you better use a hardware wallet.

To store some altcoins I also use Trustwallet. and so far safe. maybe it's because the numbers are small so I'm not too worried.
but I have come across many stories of people whose wallets have become insecure. but I don't know what wallet he is wearing. but what made the Wallet he used hacked was that he tried to Swap the fraudulent coins. like if we transact Bep20 coins for example on pancakeswap, well after the swap is finished sometimes suddenly in our wallet there is an unknown token and usually the price of the token is extraordinary. which makes ordinary people want to swap it. though it's more like a phishing coin. where when we swap to it. maybe that's when we give the fraudster permission to steal the contents of our crypto wallet. so don't try to swap the coins that are suddenly in our wallet. therefore mostly Phishing tokens or fraud tokens. and it can make our wallet insecure when we swap against it.

I will recommend Safepal hardwallet because of supporting so many chains and user friendly system and every week you will see new chain to be added.
Like trustwallet, safepal hardware wallet is also close source and I wouldn't recommend it.

Just download Trust wallet and Don't connect it to internet.
Even if you don't connect trustwallet to internet, we can't be sure the fund is 100% secure. Because we don't know how the keys have been generated.

And if you can't use hardware wallet, then you can use trustwallet.
Even if you can't use a hardware wallet for any reason, you shouldn't go for a close-source wallet like trustwallet.

As far as i know, Trustwallet is the official wallet solution from Binance. So i would guess that trustwallet was tested heavily for bugs or possible loopholes for hackers, so i would say that trustwallet should have the same level of security than metamask. That being said, trustwallet is a software that you have on your phone or on your pc as a browser extension and this means there is definitely the possibility that it gets hacked and that you funds will get stolen, but that possibility is pretty small in my opinion.
As others in this thread have already said, if you want maximum security for your tokens or coins then you should use a hardware wallet like ledger or trezor.

I'm using metamask for long time but so far for my experience using it didn't much encounter any major issues.

How to protect my trustwallet account?
As long as I'm using Trust wallet, it's never been hacked. So I conclude that Truswallet is safe to use. But if you use Trustwallet to hold coins long term, it's a good idea to create a custom wallet without connecting to other platforms. So that your wallet is not reached by hackers. Maybe this is the part we should pay attention to to protect the wallet. But the rest is Trustwallet developers have also provided high security on the Trust wallet.

I've been using Trust wallet for a long time and I haven't encountered any problem so far. Just don't store big funds in this wallet if you want to get rid of being hacked. The possibility of being hacked is always around so you better be careful in every click that you do. Phishing sites are always existing so it's our responsibility to avoid them as much as possible. If we really want to be careful, better use a hard wallet so you're the one who is in control of your funds.

In my opinion, the security that Trust wallet has is not much different from other online wallets, meaning that using a Trust wallet is not 100% safe.
I agree with what you said it's better not to store our crypto too big in the Trust wallet, if we want to be more secure, we really have to store our crypto
in a hardware wallet. But the problem is hardware wallets are quite expensive, if we can't afford to buy a hardware wallet, it's not a problem we can use
an online wallet, and one online wallet that I recommend is Trust wallet.

But don't store all our crypto in a Trust wallet. It's better if we store our crypto in some online wallet, so that if something bad happens and one of our
online wallets is hacked, at least we won't lose all our cryptocurrencies. Based on my experience using Trust wallet, I'm quite satisfied, but still,
even though I haven't experienced anything bad while using Trust wallet, I advise everyone to be careful when using a Trust wallet.

Generally It's safe when you use it right and know what you are doing. I've been using trust wallet but I personally do it for small transactions only and I don't have not much funds on it given that I primarily use hard wallet. Trust wallet is just like other non custodial wallet, it has the sufficient wallet security though it's still hackable. Make sure to activate most of their security measures to strengthen your wallet security.

definitely not 100% secure and safe. remember, it is an online wallet where hackers can always try those sophisticated hacking tools anytime. so yeah, they are also vulnerable to attacks. trust wallet is a reputable one but storing large funds is indeed not advisable. if you have large funds, why not invest buying a hardware wallet? even though you haven't experienced anything bad with trust wallet, it doesn't mean they are not prone to any future attacks. always secure your funds as no one will do it for you.

@OP, take this advice or words of wisdom which is totally that right.

Anything which is close source is never been suggestible for it to make it as a storage specially on huge funds. You cant really make yourself sleep at peace.
Even leaving my funds on an exchange platform doesnt really give me that ease feeling.

You should always be minding about the risk or probabilities of hacks and exploits which could happen anytime.
Therefore, nothing beats out on considering those safety precautions.

At present TrustWallet is a very popular wallet. I myself am using TrustWallet. It is a very secure wallet. I don't see any possibility of hacking here and never heard of hacking. You can use it without doubt and without worry. A multi-wallet. Here you can avail various benefits. But some guidelines are that you keep its private phase in a very private place that no one can find out and hack.If you can do this then your account will be completely safe and there will be no possibility of hacking and it will be completely safe.

Control is in your hands, the security of your wallet is also your responsibility. Moreover, the crypto world is very difficult to catch the hackers. No wallet is safe if we carelessly guard it, so my point is that we are all the same wallet if you compare Trustwallet and Metamask

every online wallet still has a chance to be hacked by the hackers out there in all their ways. i admit that online wallets like TrustWallet have strong security but only for small transactions. because there is still a vulnerability to theft or break-in from hackers who might be able to infiltrate the wallet.
so that everyone here would definitely suggest that if you want to store large crypto assets, it is better to store it in a hardware wallet that has been recommended by several members on this forum.
be careful to choose a wallet to store your assets or big money

Trust wallet has been tested as a good and safe wallet, they are supported by companies that have a good reputation so that it makes me optimistic to store assets in the Trustwallet, besides that Trustwallet has a long -term vision and is proven to have presented Trustwallet Token.
Cryptowallet providers generally provide maximum assurance on the use of their wallets, but some times there have been reports of hacks. We know that The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation does not accept any insurance regarding it, on the other hand many government agencies, including the FDIC, are collecting information and considering future legislation. But at the moment if i refer any wallet that would be cold storage wallet which is most useful. If one keeps their assets in this wallet then it will be safe.

Just because you've used Trust wallet in the past to make some transactions and it worked fine for you doesn't make it safe and secure. You should know that trust wallet isn't a open source wallet which means that you don't have not even a single about what the devs are doing at the backend.

It's not advisable to use Trust wallet to hold large amount of your coins or tokens.
If you're looking for a more secure means then you should consider getting hardware wallet or cold wallet that works without the internet.

I also use Trust wallet because it has Multiple Chain Wallet. Few months ago, Fake Trustwallet will be launch and newbies can use this wallet and if receive any funds it will be hacked. You can use Official Trust wallet app and it's Download 10M+. In my opinion it is too safe and also Metamask

Storing crypto on online wallets is acceptable if it is a small amount for current expenses. Therefore, I would not completely trust the trustwallet and keep a large amount on this wallet. At any time, the owners of the online wallet can block the account, like the most ordinary bank. Online wallets have the disadvantages of a traditional financial system without the advantages of cryptocurrencies. It is better to store the main savings using hardware wallets of well-known and trusted companies. Most recommend using open source, but you can also use closed source, since there have not been any unpleasant incidents with this yet.

Keep your cryptocurrency funds secure crypto wallet security is crucial for holding and investing in cryptocurrencies as more people use and invest in crypto having a safe wallet is crucial not all crypto wallets are equal the most popular metamask only supports ethereum based tokens but trust wallet's multi coin support is unmatched in addition to crypto storage Trust wallet offers purchasing staking and swapping it's versatile wallet app but it's not secure it's best for transactions not storage Trustwallet is as secure as Metamask but relies more on computer security than hardware small doses are safe if you're storing a lot of tokens use multiple hardware wallets with different wallets and passphrases to avoid getting scammed when signing erc transactions.

Even if how safe they or even trusted ones still there might be a loophole for hackers to penetrate and we need to be careful on those possible attacks so that we will not get any problem for using that wallet. I'm using metamask for long time but so far for my experience using it didn't much encounter any major issues.

Of course software wallets cannot be more secure than hardware wallets, but software wallets like metamask or trustwallet are safe enough to use in my opinion. How safe it is depends on who uses it, most cases of attacks or unexplained asset loss are due to user error, not wallet fault. A lot of people also use online wallets for years and never have a problem, but there are also many people who get hacked often. If you are knowledgeable and know how to protect your assets well then you don't need a cold wallet but if you are not good at it, a hardware wallet is the best solution for you.

There are always loopholes for wallets like trustwallet to be hacked. Usually the thing that often happens is that hacks start when they send spam tokens or coins, that is something that happens very often. Access to our wallet can be done if we make transactions with the tokens or coins they sent earlier (spam coins). I personally have been using trustwallet and metamask for a long time and so far nothing has happened. I've also received tons of tokens or coins that I don't recognize, but as long as we just ignore them nothing will happen.

Would you go to a dealership named "honest guys car dealership?" If they have to put it in the name, it probably isn't true. Maybe I'm just being silly, idk, but I don't trust them.

;D that is very funny the way you put it in there with the dealership thing. I would suspect them too based on their name like you said but I think because Binance is backing it alot of people trust it based on Binance. That was how it won my trust the first time I learnt about it. And since then I have not had any regret using it. When people talk about wallet security they have to also know that alot of it depends on the person using it. If you are careless about the security of your wallet you can endanger it by mistakenly exposing it.

One thing you must do to keep your TW safe is to keep your mnemonic phrase out of reach and also be very careful with the smart contract you interact with.

I have been using TW for a very long time now, and I have never had issues with my wallet. And there are many others also who can say the same.
If you're careless, your wallet will be hacked.
Never be tempted to save your password, key phrase in your email.

Agreed even centralized exchange site that was implementing higher security to secure the funds can be exploited or hacked. there's no safe place in the crypto. Correct, normally trust will never hacked if we didn’t any mistake as like if we don’t connect our personal wallet to any scam/pishing sites, it’s totally up to you about wallets security. It's your fault when you frequently get spam tokens, not trustwallet or metamask's fault, if you use a hardware wallet and you use that address to participate in airdrop campaigns or publicize on social media, you will still receive those spam tokens. The best way is to keep the main wallet away from unnecessary connections and transactions, use it only for storage, you will never get those tokens.

The safety of a wallet doesn't just depend on the secret phrases alone you should also consider other factors like if the developers are really transparent or not.
If it turns out that the wallet is a close source your funds could be in grave danger because you don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

I have this installed on my smartphone but I usually just use it for small transactions and leaving a little fund for payments in NFT games. But whenever I sell my other coins that were earned from play-to-earn games I sell them quickly for BNB and then put them in safer storage.
It's not recommended to keep large amounts there. Just like the rule with an exchange, it may make your life easier storing your funds there but it will never be safe. There's always a chance something could go wrong leaving your money to disappear.

Hardware wallets are the most recommendable for any crypto investors but if you can be very careful which platform you engage with then there will be no problem using a hot wallet like Trust wallet, the reason why hot wallets get hacked easily is because of how users handled the wallet.
It's not all of people can afford to pay hundreds bucks just to get hardware wallet but this is a good choice if he has enough money to buy it. Even if you are using hardware wallet if someone didn't manage to secure their wallet properly and it can still be hacked by scammers.
There are so many scammers these days that tried to hijack your money through use various method. Remember some people who became victim by scammers even they were using hardware wallet.

This is a self-custody wallet you are the one holding the crypto the whole time and when you earn interest is not through c5 instead it is to true defy you to own the keys this it's not to say that defy doesn't have its own set of risks when using something like trust wallet you have the option to just simply hold your crypto or if you want you to have the option to participate in d5.

for example with something like a trusted wallet if you enter an interest you can do this by staking defy lending providing liquidity yield farming and nft farming this is entirely different in this case you are giving your money to smart contracts or you are delegating your rights to a staking protocol in that case though there are risks of hacks there is a risk of smart contract bugs again you do not have to participate in this type of interest-earning and when it comes to staking with trust wallet

most of the crypto that you stake is self-custody staking meaning that you hold on to your coins all you are doing is delegating your voting right so the risk there is that the validator or the staking poll won't pay you the rewards but you get to hold on to your coins so the risk is on the lower end so when it comes to trust wallet you can simply use it and just hold your crypto on there you don't have to participate in d5.

Trust wallet is a software wallet. I think no software wallet is safe. You can use hardware wallet. It is safer than any software wallet. If you want to use Trust wallet, you need to write the seed phrase of your wallet very carefully. Trade can be done on dex exchange from trust wallet. You should visit the dex site very carefully while doing this trade. Because if you visit a phishing site, your wallet will be hacked.

It is true that software wallets cannot be compared with hardware wallets, but today's software wallets also have a certain level of security. I think the level of security will depend on how people use it rather than the level of security it provides.

Even a hardware wallet if you don't use it securely and subjectively think it's a hardware wallet it will always be safe, I believe your assets will still be hacked as usual. If you have the conditions, you should use a hardware wallet, highly recommended. If you do not have the conditions, then a software wallet is the right choice. The most important thing is how you use and maintain it

There's no such safe in crypto even hardware is still not 100% risk free since it can be physically stole from you by thief in your house. This is same with software wallet and other wallet with open source feature. Although software wallet is highly relying on its developer its still safe if we use the tolerable level safety and not the typical paranoid safety because there is nomsuch wallet that offers 100% safe. It's still up to the user how they will increase there chance of safety of there wallet.

If you want to store long-term assets, it is not recommended to use a Trustwallet wallet, but if your goal is to make it easier when you want to interact with Dapp or when you want to swap with several decentralized exchanges (CEX) maybe a Trustwallet wallet can make it easier for us to do this, but because Trustwallet is a wallet open source which cannot guarantee high security for its users so it needs to be considered first if you want to keep using the wallet.

Trustwallet safe is use for saving assets only without make any swap or transaction and connecting to several dapp exchange market, the problem why many people got their turstwallet hacked because connected and approving with new dapp exchange market trough trustwallet connecting, give allowed third party can access to trustwallet and make this way why hacked cases happen. Saving assets is better at hardware wallet but keep safety when using trustwallet if not any connected on dapp exchange market, another step keep safety using trustwallet not allowed to swap with dusting attack token.

I have a Trustwallet and I've been using it for a long time but in crypto transactions only. As much as possible, I don't store funds in software wallets. So far, I don't have any issues with Trustwallet but I prefer assurance so when it comes to storing my funds, I use a hard wallet for my protection. If you prefer security, you better use a hardware wallet.
storing in trust wallets for a very long term is not recommended because hardware wallets are safer than software wallets,
but if you use truswallet only for purposes then trust wallets are very safe, I also use trust wallets and also to hold some coins from airdrops and until now it is still safe.
because trustwallet has features that are very supportive in the crypto world, it is only natural that trust wallets are a favorite,
especially since TWT is also listed on Binance, meaning that Trustwallet is strongly supported by Binance.

I have been using this wallet for a long time, and I can't say anything bad about it. At the same time, I can't say that it is a good option for storing my cryptocurrencies. It is exactly the same questionable option as any other mobile wallet. As written here before, the best solution is a hardware wallet. Many people are too lazy to buy a hardware wallet and hope nothing bad happens to them and that the wallets they use will never be compromised. If choosing between online wallets, I would choose metamask over trustwallet.

In crypto nothing is really "safe", they are safe until they are no longer safe and that's a bit of the problem. The safest choice is always having your own wallet, there are a lot of cold wallets out there and you could use them, ledger nano for example is a very famous one that you could use. When you are using anything else, there are always risks involved and hackers will try to find a way to destroy it for you.

I am not saying that it will be easy, it could be very very tough, it could take many years, maybe even 10 years, but there is no guarantee that it will never be hacked. That is why you should at all times be very careful about where you are putting your money.

I think if we want to store all the assets in 1 wallet then Trust Wallet is a good solution, I keep all the assets in 3 accounts namely Trustwallet, ERC20, and Exchanges Wallet, because I focus a long -term focus so I save with the biggest portion in Trust Wallet.

Trustwallet is also close source. You do not know what Trustwallet developers are doing behind. I can not advice anyone to use close source wallet.
I currently use trustwallet for some of my Defi trades and others like Imtoken for mostly ERC20 and Metamask extension for more complex trades. When you said "Trustwallet is closed source" does this mean they can track your recover phrase or Private keys at the backend? Many persons have complained that their trustwallet got hacked, I have had to defend trustwallet team when they blame the developers for the hack. This closed source gives me concern. Please, what's the difference between Trustwallet, Imtoken,Safepal, tokenport and Metamask in terms of security and source code? Thanks

In my opinion i am using trust and metamask from the first day of starting my crypto journey. And i didnt face any problem.  Its always safe if you not connect your wallet on any suspicious dapp or website. And also obviously not share your private key or seed to anyone. Then you always safe.

Trustwallet has received a strict recognition and audit that it is worthy of being a safe wallet, I have used trustwallets for about 2 years, and have never met problems, even I use it to trade at Dex Exchanges and everything is smooth and no problem.

Yeah, trust wallet is very handy because you can store different network coins, it’s a multi-chain wallet that's the biggest advantages on this wallet. I would like to recommend, if your focus for long term holding then will never hold your coins in the trust wallet or exchanges wallet, you should to buy hardware wallet because it’s a offline wallet and your assets will be more safe then others online wallets.

Trustwallet is well secure and one of the credible and trusted wallet online, though it's advisable not to hodl huge amount of coin in it, I will rather use it to hodl small amount of coins, I had been using the wallet for a long time without any issue, it has a good user interface and easily navigable and it has the ability to store many coins it also has link directed to it's social media platforms like telegram, facebook, twitter, Reddit etc you can also connect it with other wallets, it can also be used to swap and exchange with other coins which is added feature that is not common with other wallets.

I admit that Trustwallet has a good reputation and can be said to be one of the most recommended online wallets. Because I've been using
Trustwallet for quite a while and so far I'm quite satisfied with Trustwallet's performance. Especially with all the advantages you have described
about Trustwallet, makes us feel safe and comfortable using Trustwallet to store our cryptocurrencies. But when compared to hardware wallets,
Trustwallet's security level is not as good as hardware wallets. So if we really want to be more secure in storing crypto we have the best choice is
to still use a hardware wallet.

The problem is that the hardware wallet price is quite expensive, making some people object to having to spend money to buy a hardware wallet.
If the situation is like that, we can just use Trustwallet in the end. Most importantly, it would be better if we don't store large amounts of crypto when
using Trustwallet. To minimize the risk of losing all of our crypto, it's a good idea to store our crypto in several online wallets.

As of my experience Trustwallet is good and while using it, I am satisfied also now I am storing some BTC to this wallet for a long time and so far nothing bad happen yet and I do hope that it will be a good happening someday and not a bad thing. Also for the new user trust wallet is very easy to understand and easy to use if you have your mobile phone then you can download the app from your play store and start using it.

No system is secure, everything has loopholes. Even though trust wallets are very popular, I just want to remind you to be careful when connecting to dapps or making transactions from airdrop tokens, it is very likely that your account will be hacked to take assets. I've found a lot of dusting tokens in my airdrop wallet and then I replaced it. just a suggestion, if you use a wallet for airdrops you have to replace it periodically.
I think trust wallet is safe but what about the users condition? Scammers are constantly developing new tricks to scam. A user should always be alert. Especially when connecting the wallet one should check if the specified site is correct otherwise there is a chance of hacking the wallet. On the other hand, accidents can happen even if the key phrases are not kept in a safe zone.

The problem that faces by most of centralized wallet user was they can't keep their wallet secure. they were always dealing with suspicious platforms. That's why their money got stolen by scammers. They can't even think properly about what should they do to prevent the scammers to take their money from their wallet. There are bunch of scammers these days in the crypto. that's why we must take care to never try to deal with suspicious platform.

Yeah, I've been using it for over a year and haven't had any issues. Your description of the users' condition is very acceptable. In some articles, users got scammed early on because they were noobs; the QR code is the seed phrase they learned the hard way. It's safe if you know what scams to avoid. In your wallet, you'll receive random coins that you didn't expect. Ignore them by swiping left. You should avoid clicking on them as they are scams. Don't worry about tokens you didn't purchase.

Trust wallet is safe if you keep the recovery seed offline and if you stay away from airdrops and too good to be true offers on the web, avoid clicking links that you get through emails too, they aren't safe, I haven't heard about hacks or loss of fund on trust wallet but still one needs to be extra careful.

The hack cases that I've ever known are all from user error, what you say is true, keeping a private seed is one of the best ways not to lose your wallet,
I think if you want to take part in the airdrop make sure you create another wallet that is specifically for airdrops, so you don't mix it with your investment wallet.

Can people hack my trustwallet?

How to protect my trustwallet account?

The concept remains the same, everything related to online can be hacked, Trustwallet also has several cases of hackers being carried out by irresponsible people, if you say safe maybe not completely. You can use Trustwallet, but it is not recommended to store large amounts of coins, even though there are keys and phrases stored, but also not able to be categorized as safe.

I think Trustwallet is a good and safe wallet, I've been using it for about 2 years after I was hacked on Google Metamask, after the hack I have now moved 80% of my assets to Metamask, even when I was trading on pancake swap and never logged out almost 3 months everything is safe.
There are definitely reasons behind a particular wallet being hacked. And when those things are followed with caution then the probability of hacking is greatly reduced. About three years ago due to carelessness, I saw the wallet of someone I know being hacked where his phrase key was stolen and later almost all the transferable assets taken by the scammers. Here I think it is not easy to hack a user's wallet if the users to be careful.

Isn't it obvious OP? I mean just look at its name. There's already a "trust" word in it hehe but seriously for me, trustwallet is truly a safe wallet because I've never experienced to get hacked on using it and I've been using it for a couple of years already.

I think this wallet is also related to binance so we are ensure that they are secure. Hacks usually can happen not because of the wallet but because of the actions made by the wallet users. I suggest read more topics about how to secure your crypto wallet (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3834677.0) and what things you should avoid to possibly avoid the hack (https://bit.ly/3yiDFou). Metamask is also like trustwallet in terms of reputation but only make sure to check if what you're downloading is original.

Can people hack my trustwallet?

Any wallet can be hacked, and that includes trust wallet, if you expose your seed phrase or private keys to Hackers by means of clicking and connecting to a phishing website, or by storing it online or not keeping it in a safe place.

Is it safe?

I have been using trust wallet for years now since its one of the near wallets around that provide easy storage, sending and receiving of altcoins, but i must admit that there are better options in wallet market, trust wallet is not open source, and that is one of its downsides, many investors don't really trust or rely on wallets that are not open source.

How to protect my trustwallet account?
Keep your wallet details to your self alone, like private keys, seed phrases, keep it all to yourself alone, avoid connecting to phishing links, do not store your seed or private key online.... This are rhe simple ways to protect your wallet, any wallet, not just trust wallet alone.

Right, the problem is so many newbies are not even learning from their past experience. These newbies are blatantly connecting their wallet to the any of dapps which was increasing the chance for them to be scammed.
I just tell you about the truth if trust wallet was safe but the people itself who have been making it become unsafe
Agreed. We have seen people complaining about other wallets too which means that they mostly connect their wallets to every form of giveaway site they see. People should be wise enough now to stay away from all foreign links like that or better still have a separate wallet for your crypto adventure if you really feel the need to. I've personally used trust wallet for over a year now and haven't had any issues with it. From my experience, trust wallet is safe, but you need to understand that it's an online wallet and it would be unwise to keep substantial amount of assets in an online wallet. It's best to go with a hard wallet like ledger or paper wallet when storing substantial amount to prevent the issue of hack.

To further buttress my point. I doubt my asset is up to 0.001btc, so hackers may be wasting their time trying to compromise my wallet, because it's not worth their time and effort. When I have over 1btc, I'll most likely be using a hardware wallet and if it gets to 100btc, I'll be going for a paper wallet or any other offline wallet.

I think it's more than 50%, Binance acquired trust wallet and increase the reputation of the mobile wallet, few years ago after trust wallet launched they weren't as popular as they're now. Trust wallet has constantly improved, before now to access decentralized applications you have to use a laptop as only metamask was compatible with those sites but with trust wallets you can now use your mobile to access this platforms and carryout transactions without any discomfort.
Among all mobile wallets provided, I think trust wallet has to be in the top 5 and it isn't the last. There's hardly more than 3 better mobile wallets that can be compared to that of trust wallet when it comes to storing of your altcoins.

Trust Wallet.. Seems like a bit secure as its the decentralized hot storage it's far more secure and preferred then the centralized Exchange wallet y, Be very careful while choosing the wallet because all of your assets are going to be relay on the Wallet. So dear I cant give my words but according to my knowledge until your key is secure you funds are secure rest is a long story.

Crypto wallet security is critical for storing and investing in cryptocurrency all crypto users and investors must secure their funds cryptocurrency is coveted by cybercriminals combining the difficulty of tying crypto transactions to real world identities with blockchain's irreversibility makes digital currencies an attractive target for hackers , hackers have stolen billions of dollars in cryptocurrency in the past 12 years You should apply crypto wallet safety procedures to ensure your crypto is secure first never store your recovery phrase online in a phot gallery or in instagram or other photo apps if you download Trust wallet your crypto will be stored in one of the safest wallets in the world. i think trust wallet safe other then.

If you want to use trust wallet you must be careful of the links you click on your phone, it's safer to buy tokens and coins then send to the address of your trust wallet instead of connecting your trust wallet to any Dex, truth be told a hardware wallet is more safer but the best hot wallet is trust wallet.
Yes never link your main wallet to anything. If we are airdrop hunters then it is better if we use a special wallet to participate in airdrops. Because it is very risky if we use only one wallet for various types of transactions, including airdrops. I myself use a custom wallet for my main wallet, and create another wallet if I want to link. This is one way to avoid scammers.

Everything is hackable and there are too many factors on how it will be hacked. Trustwallet is just an app and for it to be safe will always play on the owner to be honest, let's say 80% of hacks on any wallets can be traced onto the owner's hand, may it because of carelessness or someone really wanted to exploit you but still your responsibility if you let them know especially if you don't know how to safeguard your wallets or your identity.

The main factor because carelessness is the cause of wallet hacking, if we save the mnemonic phrase on an external device and protect the PC from viruses, then it is possible that no one can hack the wallet from the trustwallet or metamask. I have been using metamask and trustwallet for several years and there is no hacking history even though I have kept assets in the wallet till now.

It all depends on the user as for me I have been using trustapp wallet for long and I have no issues with it or any hack on it but I will tell you if holding for short-term or long term I don't suggest you should used trustwallet rather look for Offline wallet and hardware wallet is more better.
I believe trust is just to store temporary after which you can moved to the final destination.

It may not a full bulletproof but it may prevent future issues hacking your assets or accounts.

Not only in the trust wallet, mostly personal wallet hacked incidents happened by our carefulness, as like seed phrase isn’t stored in the secure place, and not for using anti virus in our pc. But especially i have seen in the trust wallet cases who got hacked either they're tried to sell fake airdrop tokens or connected their wallet in the scam platform.

Using hardware is highly recommended for long-term asset holding because it is not a guarantee that we are safe using an online wallet even if we already protect our personal wallet, so I also recommend hardware wallets because we can store crypto assets at any time without worrying about hacking the wallet.

Hardware wallets are the most secure solution today compared to software wallets that we use but it is also not 100% secure. How safe will depend on how we use and care for it, if you own a hardware wallet and think it is absolutely safe and you neglect to take care of it, your wallet can also be hacked in one way or another.

In addition to using hardware wallets to store long-term investments, I also use software wallets for work but have never had a problem because for me security is the most important factor in this market.

You can still be hacked if you connect your wallet on some shady/unfamiliar websites or a phished site so it's always important to check the url that you are visiting and it would be better if you can just bookmark the sites that you are frequently visiting so that you are sure that it was the real one.

Having a good antivirus on our pc or laptop is already enough because it can detect malware which can stole our keys if we save it on the same device but what you are doing of storing your keys outside can give you an extra layer of protection. You just want to make sure that you never connect that device online. This can act as a cold storage.

Personally i recommend trust wallet to all the crypto users because i using trust wallet from more then 2 years and i never face any issue about hacking but most important  you have to remember 12 keywords because if the mobile is lost or damage your assets will remain safe . Most of the peoples talking about hacking of trust wallet but its not true because they click on some unknown scamming links due to which they may connect to a scam site so thats the reason due to which they lose their assets. :)

Can people hack my trustwallet

- it can be said yes , if you link your wallet to a site that is infected with malware , because every hacking happen to that private wallet due to an intruder from a fake site

Is it safe?
-so far I use   truswallet very  secure, with a note of the wallet I use, I have never linked it to another website just to store assets

Safety can be relative and dependent on personal efforts.
You made a valid point there and it's very consistent with my point of view too. It's not enough to get the best of whatever wallet there are while we can't make efforts to strongly secure them. As for those who mouth "hardware wallet" this, and t, how many of these users truly have it or have seen one before. That's by the way. Back to the issue, I use a Trust Wallet and I haven't had any issue(s) with it. I know experts say it's closed source and that it's a red flag.

Moreover, it is an online product, it can be hacked easily by any hackers if they want. Moreover, it's added by our carelessness in storing or disseminating information related to the wallet, clicking a link either intentionally or unintentionally, or other things that can make it easier for hackers to track and hack.
This is one of the risks of using online wallets, not only TrustWallet but also other online wallets.

But, as some people also said here, I also have no problems so far using that wallet application on my phone. As long as we are more careful, it may be quite secure. But, once more, this will not guarantee that the wallet will never be hacked. There is always a risk. Moreover, I ever read about the fake TrustWallet application on Google Play, there may be also other fake websites or applications. So, be careful again, ensure that you can download it directly from the official websites, and crosscheck once more before trying to install it.

Trustwallet hacked because access and connecting with fake dapp exchange site, usually trustwallet hacked because people greedy when checking new coin credit in their wallet and try to sell by giving access approval, but right now have smart ideas with scammer how to access to your trustwallet account.

I used trustwallet for long time and keep secure depend most selective when connecting with new dapp exchange, but right now not hold coins for long term in trustwallet and prefer hold at exchange market. I don't remember with how many connected site because every day I joined with new airdrop and testnet project.

Hardware wallet is safe for our valuable assets but it is not available in every country because of some restrictions. We have to wait online based wallet and trust wallet is popular one. Personally I use both metamask and trust wallet. Both are safe to use and safety depend on the the purposes that how you use it, where you connect wallet etc.

As far as I used Trustwallet I found it safe for storing crypto. But still we know that hardware wallet is best for storing coins I will recommend to store your crypto in hardware wallet. Trustwallet will be safe if you not connect with third party sites and did not store Private key in any online place .
I recommend to use mobile for storing crypto and don't enter Laptop it pc for crypto because most of hacking done through PC malware software.

@op specially asked about online wallet in android as like Trustwallet and metamask. Hardware is absolutely safe but i don’t considering it for small amount of crypto because you have to spend good amount of money to buy it, even it’s not for the all countries as i know.

To be honest, I am literally in love with trust wallet, I have literally 8 wallet addresses just on trust wallet, you just have to be careful to who you give permission too, including the dapp you link with.

Never import a strangers a wallet into yours for any reason whatsoever.

Asides from the ledger cold wallet I don't think any wallet beats trust this includes metamask.

Wallet hardware is necessary for those who have lots of crypto coins,
because if not I don't think you need to buy it especially the price can be said to be expensive,
regarding Trustwallet there is no doubt about it and in my usage it is safe.

whether the wallet we use is safe or not, as long as we don't use a scam wallet. It all depends on usage.
if the wallet that we use is safe enough from the level of security they use. but in terms of use, we are too careless, it's the same as the wallet has a risk.
use 1 wallet to store our assets. and if you want to connect with any platform, as much as possible send it to another wallet first before sending it to the intended platform. never link the main wallet to other platforms, especially those working on airdrops and bounties.

correct, Trust wallet can be use for getting reward like bounty, airdrop or any other event. But when it comes to storing large accounts then one must use a good non custodial wallet like Electrum Wallet. In this case, using Trustwallet is a big risk.  Because Trustwallet has been hacked many times and my friend's wallet was also hacked.

Yes, there are so many proof in here that people lost their funds in their trust wallet due to their faults mostly. For example clicking malicious links/emails/images that could lead you to malware injected into your devices, accessing the wallet in public network, your unawareness and etc. It's easy to get hacked nowadays.

Is it safe?
It's safe, but how do you make it safe and secure is vary between each user.

How to protect my trustwallet account?
Thanks in advance ♡
Don't click any suspicious stuff on the internet, secure your assets such as private keys, if it's necessary don't ever connect it to the internet.

As long as it saves the seed phrase then it will be safe apart from the password which is hard to create so it won't be easy to crack anyone.
The ones that get hacked the most are those who like to connect their wallets to DeFi that are not clear like new sites that offer cheap tokens, airdrops that always link to their sites so this is vulnerable to being hacked because there have been many incidents of this but they don't realize that it was self carelessness.

But if you use trustwallet only to receive coins and send coins then it will still be safe.

This. 100% this.

Closed source is too shady. Crypto stands for transparency. How else would we know what the traps and pitfalls are supposed to be? Just trust the developers and hope for the best? No thx.

I would not completely trust any non-Bitcointalk-endorsed wallet since most people here know what they are talking about and you will not find a community with more technical knowledge about wallets and which wallets are safe. I keep hearing that Trustwallet cannot be trusted, ironically.

If you are using a wallet for Bitcoin, use a wallet like Electrum. Most people here would gladly vouch for that wallet. Although there are others.

But if you need a wallet to store altcoins or use for DeFi then you can use Trustwallet as long as you keep in mind that its better to store long term somewhere else.

Hacking occurs because of user carelessness who doesn't care about wallet security protection, many cases of wallet users connecting to scam projects or scam coin transactions are very vulnerable to wallet hacking, so it is strongly recommended that every user use a new wallet for that activity so that there is no risk of losing coins from your wallet.

It is also recommended that you have a main wallet for storing assets, the main wallet is never used to connect wallets with suspicious sites, only for storing assets and trading on trusted dex or exchanges.

The best storage for crypto assets are offline/cold wallets - your assets are stored outside the internet environment which reduces its vulnerability to attack. However, Trustwallet may be more convenient since it is easier to manage and affordable (you can download it in your mobile phone), and also if you are keeping small funds. In my opinion, I suggest that you write down your password and seed phrase in a book/paper and keep it only where you can assess it. I suggest you avoid keeping your password/seed phrase anywhere in your mobile phone. I personally avoid enabling Google or other browser you may be using to keep or store my passwords. It is your hard earned money, so don't be lazy in writing your password/seed phrase on a paper outside your mobile phone. This can help to secure your funds. However, if you intend to store big amount of money/crypto asset, then you have to go for an offline/cold wallet.

The majority say that Trustwallet is safe and maybe those people who get hacked and do not properly secure their seed phrase, private key, or installed a modded trust wallet app which the hacker can easily transfer the funds to their wallet.

I only installed trust wallet and downloaded it from the play store but I never used it, and only using Metamask since 2017 and never experience and issue or get hacked.

If you are a pure crypto hodler then it's better to use offline wallets. As a hodler you will also buy more coins so your coins are more safe offline but if you are both a hodler and spender, where you sometimes use your cryptos for sending money and buying something then it will be convenient for you to have an online wallet. Trust wallet is one of the trusted mobile wallet but they don't have a support for desktop users.

For this, you may use Exodus or Electrum. Metamask has a support for both mobile and desktop but AFAIK they don't support Bitcoin. Just remember, we only need to store sufficient amount of cryptos on them since they are less safe than compared to offline wallets.

Trust wallet is safe as long as you know how to safeguard your wallets and not connect it to unknown sites to claim airdrops and other stuff.
Although it is a private source wallet, but still it is much better to use this wallet as compare to online wallets.

People usually lose money from trust wallet if they lose their private seed or maybe if they connect their wallets with scam sites.

Trust wallet is a non-custodial hot wallet. Which means your private key is encrypted and  stored locally on your device and your device is connected to the internet (Hot Wallet) so technically  yes it can be hacked using malware remotely or hacked locally via social engineering or power glitch. It is safer than an exchange platform but not as safe as a cold wallet like Ledger which is offline.
