The Pharmacist has been asking our boss (theymos) to change his name to The Sceptical Chymist (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=487418) and today I discovered that the username has finally been changed. My brother from another country The Sceptical Chymist congratulations. I believed the additional merit allocation request also also granted. theymos thank you very much for granting him the request.

Nigerian Board is also on the request Queue...we also appeal to him for the creation of the board

Congratulations to The Sceptical Chymist!  it took a long time for his wish to be granted. This is a lesson for everyone, specifically me, that we shouldn't lose hope about our requests, goals, or aspirations. That's why we need virtues called patience and persistence. Sometimes its is good to give time a chance. Congratulations Sceptical Chymist this really Christmas present just like @NeuroticFish responded. The additional merit allocation will also be granted seen how contributive Sceptical Chymist has been to the growth of the forum.

As for the Nigerian Board we believe theymos is seriously making plans to seeing he allocate a board to Nigerians. Every good thing takes time. It been long since  Sceptical Chymist made the appeal and here his first request is been granted awaiting the second. So we too we wait till it gets to our turn I strongly believe thymos has Nigerians at heart.

Congratulations on your request granted by Theymos to change your user name to Skeptical Chymist. You have added impact on the lives of forum users, and its great to have someone like you,sacrificing your time and effort to make sure there is growth in the forum.

Now i have to remember this change and guess it will takes some time to get it .
I remember it was the same thing with when TheBeardedBaby got his name change , sometimes its hard then to recognize them with their new names.

I think he really deserved it, i have know him to be a good active user on the forum regardless of time and energy.

Theymos works in mysterious ways, striking you when you least expect it, and his silence speaks volumes, which is the one thing I've learned about him... If he is going to give you something, he is going to make sure you deserve it. I'm just curious what happened to the other newbie account that registered with "The Sceptical Chymist"? Was he nuked because that's the only way Theymos could achieve something like this. ? .. I knew the idiot was nothing more than a troll.

Thank you, and thanks to everyone who's PMed me with congratulations.  I have to admit it's weird seeing a different username on my profile, but I'll get used to it and am grateful to Theymos for granting me my wish.  Somebody helped me out with it by notifying Theymos today or yesterday, and they did this on their own.  Don't know if it was Halab or PowerGlove or anyone else, but whoever was lobbying on my behalf I'd like to thank you sincerely.

That's the thing--I wasn't persistent at all, and Theymos told me as much in the PM he sent me.  I should have been sending him periodic reminders instead of what I actually did, which was nothing.  It worked out in the end in spite of me and my idiocy.

I hope you get one, and take heed of what I wrote above; he says (and I'm paraphrasing here) that he tends to forget about requests if he isn't reminded of them, so be persistent....and obviously patient, too.

I wish it happens along with Bengali board too. We have been looking for that quite a long but no response from theymos. I'm sure that we can get lots of quality posters and could attract more users on the forum. Right now, no one gets a proper guideline in Bengali thread.

Although it was not me, but I'm really happy to see @The Pharmacist can change his name become @The Sceptical Cymist after long time awaiting for theymos to realize that. Maybe someone that want to change his name should create proposal and wrote "Fuck you" to theymos, it might trigger him :P

Great after a long time finally the change has been made and was surprised to see the thread in Meta board otherwise it would have taken me more time time to realise that change has finally be implemented and our known @Pharmacist is now the one with username @The Sceptical Cymist so once again congratulations to you man and you deserve it.

I will really miss the name "The Pharmacist" which has now changed to "TSC". This new name is long, but I think I prefer to use his last name instead of his full name and I hope you don't mind that. Chymist, I have congratulated you via PM but it seems I would love to celebrate here too.

I also recently noticed that one of our board local users had successfully changed their username. Theymos is probably being kind and granting some user requests, of course because the reason for changes may be perfectly acceptable.

Well, congratulations to The Sceptical Chymist for the new name, I personally liked the previous one, but that is just my opinion.
I have the impression that the administration takes care of the name change requests rather slowly, I had assumed The Sceptical Chymist had already changed their mind on their name change request, after the time It took to get an answer.

I believe it would be productive to set a minimum-maximum waiting time to get an official reply from moderators on name change requests and ban appeals, not matter whether the request is accepted of denied.

Just my opinion.

The Sceptical Chymist deserves congratulations. I never expected the request to change his username to take so long, given his reputation and the amount of effort he has put into the forum. I like his new name because of his personality in the forum; he always does things skeptically here, so even his new name. I aspire to be like him in the forum; he's simply too exceptional in his own ways. We've all seen and appreciate everything he's done and continues to do here. All the best to The Sceptical Chymist.

That's because you should search for "The Sceptical Chymist", not The Sceptical Chynist.
If you search for "The Sceptical Chymist" and click on the result, you will see that the message is sent to "The Pharmacist".

Congratulations The sceptical chymist for the new achievement, there is a proverb that say good name is better than richest, I came to discovered that this your new name is a name people will live to remember, because "Sceptical" mean doubting that something is true or useful. Really The Pharmacist is easy to pronounce than the Sceptical Chymist. I almost bite my tongue when trying to pronounce the name.

The name is not vacant, the name is still using by The Sceptical Chymist as the username and it is only the display name changed to the The Sceptical Chymist. The username is intact.

Just few days ago I was talking about The Skeptical Chemist on bitcointalk (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5347222.msg61406521#msg61406521) as a keyword and using it as example to make a point of how keywords works for search engines. I thought TP was asking for a Chemist not Chymist LOL. But I see it was a cleaver idea from former TP 😉

I think it's how you pronounce it.
Chemist will start with "K"
Chymist no doubt is starting with "Ch"

I remember seeing something about this name changing someplace before now. Seriously, given his status on this forum, I never thought it to take so long. I love the new name, which has been changed from The Pharmacist to The Sceptical Chymist. Congratulations once more; your requests should have been fulfilled much sooner. But the wait was worthwhile now that you have what you desired.

Honestly, I am confused about who that forum user or that person is because of the name that I recently saw or knew until I have known that it is The Pharmacist. Changing the forum name is possible but as you have known that you must have boss theymos' approval then theymos will change the name. As I have know before that there are other people who wanted to change their name but it didn't get approved that's why the approval of changing the forum name depends on theymos himself. That is not possible because only the name is changed and not the username. When you register or create an account and what you have filled up will be your username and forum name so, when you try to create an account using The Pharmacist then that's what will happen because the username "The Pharmacist" is already used. What really changed is the name and not the username itself. See  the image below.

As much as I liked and were used to seeing the previous username "The Pharmacist" in posts, after such a long time period you finally manage to change your username to the one you requested. Thus, congratulations on your achievement, I don't think many users have managed to switch their username. Personally, I like the twist in your name "Sceptical" instead of Skeptical and "Chymist" instead of Chemist.

It's not a twist I came up with, but some very old spelling from a very old book (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sceptical_Chymist) by Robert Boyle. 

The name change request stems from very personal reasons which I won't get into here (or elsewhere).  And I've gotten quite a few PMs saying the new moniker looks strange after all this time.  I have to tell you all, I'm still getting used to it--but every time I see it these little bubbles of glee start being emitted from somewhere within me.   :D

Man, I haven't seen you around these parts in a long time--or am I just imagining things?  Anyway, I don't know about the appreciation and respect stuff on Theymos's end, but I am getting a sense of that from the comments here, and it blows my atrophied mind.  Again I thank you all for the love fest.

For getting your name changed after so many years of request shows that everything is possible in this forum, just at the appointed time.
Or when the right process is taken. Can you tell us if you used another strategy to convince theymos and other admins apart from opening thread and sending pms?

I am afraid to ask at this point. I think I have PMed theymos twice about it and called him out in public a few times to answer the questions. But I have something else in the works right now that should be interesting to read. I am hoping to wrap it up soon, and when theymos sees it, he might rethink my request on his own. Stay tuned...

I guess I won't run into any problem if I refer to the user as Nee The Pharmacist 🧐. This name change thing makes it look like what happens in my country when ladies get married, their surnames get changed too.

Well, I think Xmas came too early for TSC. Felicitations! While I obliterate The Pharmacist from my mind, I will try to replace it with the short tag of TSC instead of frequently crosschecking my spelling of the new name.

I was even thinking of shortening the new name to The Chymist instead of twisting my tongue to pronounce The Sceptical Chymist as a full phrase. The Pharmacist name was simple to pronounce, but we will adapt to the new name soon. Congratulations The Sceptical Chymist.

I think a great number of users are going to alternate between TSC and The Chymist than going all full. Perhaps, a few of those who like being formalistic will type out The Sceptical Chymist. I know, expectedly, they're going to be more name change requests from other users in the future. If I may even ask, and this is directing it to the entire community; may be specifically to theymos, is there any standard rule for name change? I ask this because the two cases we've experienced here so far didn't have the same reason demanding name change.

No nobody can register with the username "The Pharmacist". Theymos has only changed the display name. The username hasn't been changed at all and it's still owned by "The Sceptical Chymist".

Congratulations to The Sceptical Chemist on the change of his username, I've also come across this recently with the thread from Coolcryptovator when he also requested for a change of name even though his own was changed base on the request that his username was abused by many and thereby change the alphabets from capital letters to small letters, as for me I'd liked both the former (The Pharmacist) and the new one (The Sceptical Chymist) because they both have a unique blend of beauty in pronunciation and meaning.


I think it's all about time and chance with patience, i want to believe that Theymos has plans regarding this since he has approved some local threads to be pinned, I think its the first step to granting the local board requested and i believe that not only Nigeria is involved in this.

Congratulations to you The Sceptical Chemist, For finally having your request granted. When I first saw the name in a post that I was reading, it took me like some minutes to actually figure out that it was him, I guess you have some joy now having this name changed for you.
