Title: "The world is facing a major, major crisis." - Is Bitcoin ready?

This man has never been wrong. He predicted the housing crisis when the Keynesians and Krugman were calling for more destruction and has been accurate many times before that.

The question is will Bitcoin be ready to handle a global economic crisis?

Yes.  Are people ready to be accountable for their own money? No. Too much personal responsibility.

Lack of responsibility only means they won't ever learn responsibility.  Responsibility must be given, and mistakes made, for responsibility to be learned.

MyBitcoin was a great example. People were so used to only be robbed by institutionalized traders, and not by small pot ones, that blindly trusted some wallet. Then disaster ensued.

Exactly.  Without MyBitcoin, we wouldn't have learned the lessons that we learned.  We now know to be more careful and suspicious of new online Bitcoin services.

It amazes me that people hadn't already learned this lesson prior to Bitcoin.

I was thrilled to have such control over my wallet, I couldn't imagine giving up that control to some random internet website. Hell, I was using sterile offline storage methods long before that. I guess I'm paranoid. :(
I would agree, but I'm afraid it would be a tad hypocritical.  I didn't trust MyBitcoin, but I did get scammed $300 worth of BTC trying to buy a laptop.  :\
