It's not 12,000 anymore but 20,000+ and still counting.

The most trusted and preferable crypto to accept as payment is Bitcoin because there are two countries have been accept Bitcoin as a legal tender regardless how effective it is. What's the point of accepting the other cryptos if we can choose Bitcoin?

Anyway move this thread to altcoins discussion section.

It depends.

If you have customers and they are asking you if you are accepting crypto payment, there would be a particular coin most of them will be asking for, that is the coins you should go for. Likely most of them will ask if you accept bitcoin.

If you are a leader in a country that wants to make crypto a legal means of payment, the coin that you should consider is bitcoin, because it is the most decentralized, altcoins are centralized and most of them have just very little or no utility.

It's not 12,000 anymore but 20,000+ and still counting.
I still remember when Binance has not bought Coinmarketcap, coins listed there were less than the ones listed on Coingecko, but only 12309 coins listed on Coingecko now as of today while over 22780 coins are listed on Coinmarketcap, which means there are many shit coins listed on Coinmarketcap. Did you still know there are over 22000 coins? Just that they are not listed. The more the coins listed, the more the shit coins.

It's either bitcoin, or stablecoins on whatever blockchain. Doesn't make that much sense to accept other cryptocurrencies in my opinion knowing that bitcoin payment volume is already quite small in the first place.

It all depends on the kind of business I manage. If I own a business that requires me to buy and sell every single day, I will prefer to be paid in USDT so that it can be converted immediately to my local currency.
But if I am running a business where my earnings can be held for a long time, I can also accept other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Coin; it all depends on which of those has a free network at the moment. Sometimes we encounter network confirmation delays, and I wouldn't want that to slow down my transaction with my customer.

Honestly I would be fine to accept payment in all the major crypto currencies, as long as there is an active market we can always convert the coins to our favourite coin. For simplicity I would probably choose bitcoin as its also the coin I want to hold long term. Assuming that I don't need the money any time soon I would put it in my hodl wallet and just forget about. The thing about accepting payments online is that you want to reach the largest number of consumers, that why I would try to accept as many different coins as possible. And if you don't want to hold a particular coin just make sure to convert it immediately.

I personally think I will choose bitcoin as a medium of exchange because bitcoin has a limited supply limit of around 21 million bitcoin the top 1 in marcet cap and if everyone uses bitcoin, bitcoin will be hard to get.
why did i choose bitcoin because bitcoin is the king of crypto

All of them except ethereum. Why? ethereum will charge us non sense fees. Accepting ethereum based on L2 like optimism and arbitrum is good enough. The main problem is when people wanna try to send money to others and some blockchains were charging very big fees for each transaction.
This is a common knowledge and that's why people try to avoid to use the expensive blockchain like eth. Eth is now even more expensive compared with bitcoin. That being said that ethereum must be in your exception

Cryptocurrency we choose to accept payments will depend on our specific needs and preferences, Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency and has the largest market capitalization, making it a widely accepted means of payment. If we're looking for a cryptocurrency with even lower fees and faster processing times, we might consider Ripple or Stellar, which are designed specifically for fast, low-cost transactions.

I agree, whenever I used ethereum in non-fungible token there's always an error every time I transact because of lack of eth which is very high gas fee, larger than your assets.
This is hurting my pocket and decided to switch to other tokens with less fees. I suggest you guys to search more alternative transactions using ethereum.

I don't know where you got that numbers, but from the numbers you stated, only 1 percent is actively used as a way of payment. Heck, even 1% is way too much. A small observation that I see most people accept crypto in this forum is, of course, bitcoin. Another option is they use Binance Pay. Ease of use and transaction fee rates become a concern for some merchants or services as far as I can see right here. Though, don't generalize it, because I only saw the one who tells or make a post about it here.

Although a centralized payment gateway is not ideally recommended, it seems that they are truly helping those who want to accept cryptocurrencies, the varieties of crypto that are accepted and easiness of payment make them became the choice for some people.

When it comes to accepting payment, I would not have a specific choice of cryptos. I would rather choose a payment gateway which will settle the payment in fiat on a real time basis. Business is no joke and majority of the businesses need working capital which is usually taken out from the revenue.

So as a business owner I won't really take the risk of volatility as it may affect my profitability. So coin can be anything, but the payment gateway should be the most important factor for me.

I'd accept any major cryptocurrency with high liquidity on Binance, such as:
- USDT & BUSD
- ETH, XRP, TRX, LTC
Stablecoins are preferred because of their stability, and I'd usually cash out to the local market using stable coins as well.

I don't recommend smaller coins because of the wide spread ratio, or you'll lose money selling those coins via a market order.

I will prefer to take stable coins for payment, any one of them but if you are talking about the native crypto tokens then there is only one winner, and that is Bitcoin, Bitcoin is synonymous with Crypto and it is wildly acceptable everywhere in the world and some countries you can find BTC ATMs there, the only issue I have is the slow deployment or let me say adoption of Lightning network by payment stores or other faster solutions that will have out there, this is a common mistake in the space, that when the technology is right, users will use how solution because of better technology and this is wrong and things must change in this direction so as to have better market adoption of crypto payments worldwide

When it comes to the question of which is the most reliable crypto for payments, only one answer will come up and that is Bitcoin. It is true that many are now choosing stablecoins due to volatilities. But Bitcoin will always be the best in terms of security. Moreover, many people are now running towards some alt-coins like: litecoin, Polygon (matic) etc. for low gas fees. And in my case I always prefer bitcoin as payment But if volatilities are too much for you then sometimes using stable coin is not bad.

I have to be honest & say that my favourite cryptocurrency to receive payments in is by far bitcoin. It’s the most established, trustworthy coin. Bitcoin has the most potential to be a mainstream payment tool & it isn’t even close.

Nothing else can match bitcoin, it’s as simple as that. People will try to shill you their bags of other coins & tokens but when it comes down to cold, hard facts nothing compares to bitcoin.

I would of course prioritize Bitcoin over altcoins since Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency. It is also the most accepted. I would just make sure that Lightning payments are made available to avoid high fees and longer confirmation time. Now, for those who prefer to pay in altcoins, Ethereum could be accepted but since gas fees is a big problem for now, I would make sure that the likes of Litecoin and Dogecoin are also accepted. So I think accepting all four of them is fair enough.

Depend on your costumer needed prefer accepted payment in cryptocurrency for your business, I think you need with little questionnaire effort which kinds of cryptocurrency worth adopted for payment currencies. But seems Binance coins is worth for accepting as payment currency because with price still not expensive like ETH or Bitcoin and your costumer seems happy when transaction using Binance coins.

Most exact answer, you need feedback or respond from costumer and need little reason why some of them choose that coins for payment currencies to make easy for adopting in your business.

Don't worry too much, ETH team is doing everything to make it more perfect, I believe with the next updates, its gas fee will be greatly reduced.
Regarding which coin to accept for payment, I will choose a stablecoin because it has both fast transactions, low transaction fees, and a non-volatile price, ensuring profit for my business. In addition, I am willing to accept all cryptocurrencies if the customer needs them because converting between coins is not too difficult.

But before I accept payments via crypto, I will make sure that my government has legalized crypto as payment so I don't get into trouble later.

I used USDT as payment between me and my Russian friend once. I think both busd and usdt are no brainer options. But if I want to increase my regular coin amount I prefer Bitcoin and Ethereum as payment as well. I think sometimes it can be crazy good to trade through Litecoin as well because of how cheap and fast its Blockchain is. These are my main, favorite options. I think most people use usdt and Ethereum as alternative coin payments.

For now, stable coin with lowest fee will be my choice. Because people like me, sometimes want to buy or maybe doing payment with crypto. But if fee is higher than the transaction, then i can't do it. But now a lot of network really help for example BEP20 cost less fees than ERC20 network.

With the emergence of crypto in business as a mode of payment. Bitcoin is I think the default choice of majority and even third party payment processors, Bitcoin is likely their choice. If ever I had a business and I decided to accept crypto payments, I would certainly accepts bitcoin, stable coins or coins that has fast transaction and cheap fees since the majority of buyers also prefer cheap and fast token for their purchase. Last bull market I have seen some shops on some part of my country that accepts famous play to earn reward token SLP which make sense since there are many holders of SLP that time and price is steadily increasing that time. Though today, I don't think those shops still accepts that token given that it dipped in value so hard.

If I would adopt crypto as a primary payment method, I might consider stablecoins just to keep it in the safe side, probably DAI but not USDT. However if I would adopt it as an alternative payment method, I would go straight into Bitcoin since I can just convert it anytime to my local currency in order to realize its value. Market might be volatile, but hey since it is an alternative payment method anyway, it would not matter for me if I convert it in the end. It's not like I intend to hold it anyway since I have separate wallet that is entirely for holding purposes only.

I think LTC has always been considered to be the best means of payment. It has low fees and high transaction speed. Not for nothing in the old days it was used to transfer money from exchange to exchange. So I think that LTC can also be considered as a good payment method and most importantly time-proven.

The best cryptocurrency is bitcoin and probably most people would say bitcoin since it's the best cryptocurrency out there and it is already recognized by a lot of people as well as used on many different platforms already. Even some of the banks and already connected and use bitcoin as a form of investment allowing their users to buy bitcoin on their platform. In my opinion, bitcoin is a great investment because of its supply, and over time the market price is surely going to skyrocket when bitcoin becomes rare because of its supply, but because of that reason, I think bitcoin is not good as a way of online transactions since the market price of bitcoin was so volatile, and the 1 bitcoin already could over 20,000$. So buying bitcoin for transaction means that you are also taking that risk of investment since the bitcoin market price could go down at any moment.

Probably we could use other top 10 cryptocurrencies when it comes to transactions and bitcoin just for investment, or we could just stick to stablecoin because of its stable market price we can rely on its value that it is not going to depreciate over time when you just want to buy online or have a transaction online.

Coinmarketcap keep listed 70%-80% coins in their site those are JUNK/SCAM project, so i think from 22826 coins (today's count) only around 2k coins are live on the exchanges. Coingecko is better than Coinmarketcap, because they filtering their site to removing SCAM tokens.

Well sadly i don't own a business or something like that so i don't really get any payments from customers. If i would have a business though, then i would definitely go for the safest and the most stable cryptocurrencies out there. So obviously this would be the stablecoins USDT, USDC and also BUSD i would say. Apart from the stable coins, i would probably also accept Bitcoin.
Accepting Bitcoins or other non-stablecoin cryptos can also be dangerous though i think. If you have a business then you probably a big part of those payments that you receive to pay for the expenses of your business and if the price of Bitcoin for example is going down like 10% during that time, then you already have made a loss and maybe you can not even pay your bills anymore.

The cheaper transaction fees, and the fastest confirmation. This is easy. Just think of it that you are in a physical store and you are paying with your fiat currency. Then try to relate it with using cryptocurrencies, to become convenient, you want to pay fast and easy to pay, so you can save a lot of time.
So for me, Bitcoin (using lightning network) is the best for this and other altcoins, like Litecoin also.

Stablecoins I guess, if it is for payment purposes. It will save me from regrets for sure. Using ETH or BTC as a mode of payment would be somewhat frustrating especially whenever the market price is increasing. Unlike with stablecoins wherein the amount will more likely stay on a certain price point leaving things as is just like fiat but with less tax. I do admire advantages of volatility but for investment purposes alone. I still cannot think of a way an investor would be able to freely and without hesitation, use his assets to buy something in the market unless it is something which would be of a big transaction and price would be in favor on your end such as buying it for a lower price than it should be simply because of tendencies for a higher market value for the seller's end.

As we all know Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that's widely accepted anywhere in the world that embraces Bitcoin. So, most preferably we all want to accept Bitcoin and any other merchant and service providers. Bitcoin should always be the primary and then secondary should be ETH, XRP, LTC, and a meme coin to some like Shiba or Doge (while they're still have the hype). But if you want to make sure, just prefer Bitcoin, ETC or XRP.

I agree that Bitcoin is by far the most accepted, but when it comes to payments, I really don't think people will be willing to spend their bitcoins on daily payments, people are looking at bitcoin as a lucrative investment rather than using it daily. Even on this forum, what we are discussing is accumulating and holding bitcoins for profit, very few topics talk about bitcoin payments. If yes, then they only use bitcoin to pay a few times to experience it, no one is willing to use it often.

Some of the coins I prefer for payment are stable coins like USDT, BUSD, USDC, etc. and among other altcoins, Litecoin is my favorite. Accepting payments in stable coins will keep my wealth stable so I will get wealth as per my needs. But in other alt coins it is quite risky. I would except litecoin because it is fast transaction and can be transacted at low cost. There are many more altcoins that can be used to accept payments but it depends on the individual's preference.

Very sure to choose Bitcoin, other coins such as stable coins or some well-known altcoins only as the second option because maybe having other options besides Bitcoin can bring more new customers to make transactions with the coins in the second option because everyone has their own preferences.
Bitcoin leads in many ways but certain altcoins also provide benefits such as transaction speed that can be confirmed more quickly which will make transactions complete faster.

Bitcoin would be the first choice as it is the most popular, but I will add the top altcoins and especially stablecoins. I think converting between coins is not too difficult, so I will accommodate the client's request. That means they want to use any coin to pay, I will receive that coin, just make sure it is the coin in the top 20 CMC.
I prioritize bitcoin because I think everyone has it, but I encourage everyone to use the stablecoin because it doesn't volatile, which is good for my store's profit.

Maybe you're right. But LTC will still be a coin of choice besides BTC or stable coins and it is a good idea to add LTC as another option. If the payment method provides more choices of coins, customers will choose the coins they like. Oh yes, maybe having TRX as another option that you and add to your website. But I still recommend having Bitcoin as your first choice and stable coins as your second choice.

Using other altcoins as an alternative can be added to the payment method. But we must know the risks if market conditions are uncertain.

My most preferred and trusted crypto for accepting payments is bitcoin. This is due to the fact that btc is the most popular crypto and would be easier to purchase as every cryptocurrency exchange has btc listed on their platform. Btc transaction fee is also relatively cheap and affordable even when making high volume purchases.

There is no other coins which is more successful than bitcoin, ethereum is also a beneficial token and is the second priority. Holding of bitcoin is very essential for your future success as we trust in bitcoin that whatever the market price is but it will never die and we hope that there will be a significant amount of profit through holding bitcoin.

With people transferring the majority of their fiat currency and assets into bitcoins for either immediate use or future use, bitcoins have gained appeal across the globe. The market is growing every year, and new projects are being developed there, increasing volatility and trading volume. Because both Ethereum and bitcoin pump and dump during the bull and bear seasons, Ethereum would make a decent backup for bitcoin. I'm keeping onto these coins for future usage since there is a good chance that a bull run to $100,000 will occur.

couple of years back it was 6000+ cryptocurrencies now 12000? But bitcoin still dominating the market over 50% which is really showing what is preferred among the crypto community either for payment or holding.

Bitcoin is almost perfect now since the implementation of lightning network so its cheap and instant which is required to be accepted as means of payment so I don't find other coins required to me atleast only for me.

Bitcoin will always be my first priority because of its worth and successful yield.
Significant benefits are only for those who can gradually in all conditions and are not affected by fluctuating market conditions. Bitcoin is still the main thing, but besides Bitcoin Ethereum is indeed the second choice. To determine which cryptocurrency is good, it is necessary to do research, but for Bitcoin and Ethereum is not needed because it has been trusted by many people.

Of course it's bitcoin, since it's the first cryptocurrency coming in our minds when we think about this matter. Every businesses accepting crypto as payment method accept bitcoin. On the other hand, not every businesses accepting crypto as payment accept altcoins, including stablecoins. So bitcoin is the most popular among all and the first choice when doing business with crypto.

I see no reason to decide for a different answer for this question, logically and practically speaking.

He was talking about payments, not investments or for trades. When it comes to this matter, I think many of us will skip Bitcoin for a while because we know that Bitcoin is slow and has a little expensive fee. The ideal coins would be the lighter ones.

Litecoin, XRP, TRX and Doge coin (only to name a few) must be the first few candidates for this. So far never saw a bank in my local who supported Bitcoin but maybe you are talking about a third party platform who just do a conversion from bank to crypto and vice versa? Bitcoin is still hot in the eyes of the banks but who knows, maybe they will be cool with it later on and finally support it on one of their service.

What the hell man? When did we reach the mark of 20,000 coins in the market. I’m very lucky to leave the altcoin market real soon because looking at the growing number of coins it’s a waste bin for sure. What are the project ideas behind them and who are forming these coins man? Do they even have real utility? I’m gonna speak for myself, I left the altcoin market when I saw 1500 coins back in 2016 which was literally a lot for me to choose from. Here we are with 20k coins and counting. Just funny and I can’t take it.

I am good with bitcoin. It’s clean, it’s high volume asset and makes me closer to crypto home.

I will certainly prefer Bitcoin before any of these other alternative coins. I'm more relaxed in making payments with Bitcoin, I know other altcoins charge lower fees and faster transactions, but I'm married to the bitcoin system already and a lot more versatile in initiating.

Yes, almost everyone here prefers Bitcoin, and there were times in our history wherein it is universally accepted, many merchants try to and as much as they want to, some of them have to cut though because of Bitcoin's volatility.

And so there are a lot of alternatives, but similar though, it's the fluctuations like ETH that did it for the merchants.

So I'm not sure if there will be crypto that will be accepted, but I do hope that it will be the top 2 coins BTC and ETH.

Bitcoin, most of the times, if it is an option.
Otherwise, I can settle with some stablecoin on a popular network I can exchange later for Bitcoin if I wish to do so.

I am also open to popular altcoins with high exchange listing and liquidity: Litecoin, Dash, BNB, etc. I usually avoid taking ether and token in that network because of how high the fees can be at all times.

Surprising isn't it? It just shows that cryptos have come a long way but we must not be really proud of it since most of these coins are just junks and only going to take away the money of the investors. There's no need to question the dominance of BTC because it was the first crypto and without it, there will be no other cryptos.

Lightning network can work better compared to any other altcoins but I think the support of it up until now is still low therefore people are still being forced to use bitcoin and other alternative cryptos. If we are a business owner we can still promote lightning network on it or this will be the one that will be using when sending money to our loved ones.

Bitcoin and then any other coin I can easily liquidate into bitcoin.  Problem is microtramsactions.  In that case it's probably easier to move in litecoin amd then transfer over to bitcoin. Either way no matter what protocol you are using it's showing this little crypto experiment is working :)

Actually, it depends on the situation, but my priority would be stablecoins. However, if it is not possible to pay with stable coin, I would definitely prefer nothing but Bitcoin. I must say for sure that it is the most reliable. Sometimes it makes me nervous to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment because its price is volatile. So, if I get paid in stablecoin, I can buy Bitcoin at my target price whenever I want.

It is my own rational attitude that shapes my preference.

Bitcoin.
That's the current crypto that I'm happy to receive and send transactions with. I've got experience in XRP, LTC, TRX, and some others too and they're also good, to be honest.
While the fees really change and sometimes the cheapest one can be the most expensive one. It depends on the network of these cryptos on how clogged they are. This is the reason why I keep on exploring any available option so that I can test the speed, reliability and fee of each networks so I can tell if I'm satisfied or not based on what I am hearing about them.

Honestly, as a crypto lover, I will gladly accept any cryptocurrency if the right circumstances require it to be used for payment. However, understanding the issue of what you are talking about makes me realize that there was a lot of information about applying crypto in life before, but there are some good points with this, but so far, I think a lot of acceptance is needed. As more countries and continents adopt crypto, we will see which one will gain the trust of people.

As we all know, Bitcoin  is the most popular and widely accepted cryptocurrency for payments, with many merchants and businesses accepting it as a form of payment. But in reality, people in my country still not using bitcoin as  a payment, instead they are using it as a form of investments. Come to think of it, whenever bitcoin's price sudden increase, will it be use still as a payment form? Not really. Let's always consider the level of adoption in some other countries.

in general, I'd go with Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, USDT, and BUSD. I chose Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB out of the many cryptos because I believe those three coins are the most used for transactions. other than that, people tend to be familiar with the three coins. So, I think, that's for the best. while for stablecoins, I will choose USDT and BUSD. this is because the two stablecoins are the most widely used, and I use them the most.
However, I might add a few tokens depending on the situation. if there are still potential tokens and the community is huge, then I might consider those tokens as a payment alternative.

Do not let yourself be confused about the massive number of altcoins that exist, of the ten of thousands of coin we have on the market only a handful are used to pay for services, the rest are used only to speculate and to scam investors.

On my experience the coins most often used to acquire a service online are bitcoin, ethereum, stable coins and dogecoin, if you can accept those coins then you can accept payments from the majority of the market participants, as they are holding at least one of those different coins and they can pay you with it.

I think it is close to 20k+ by now, with unlisted ones making it as high as 40k+ at the moment. Of course those unlisted ones are terrible and shouldn't be considered, but the 20k number is a real number by now, they are listed at either cmc or listed in other places but the total is there and the lower you get the worse it gets as well.

You get to see things that you could make in 10 minutes and somehow they are listed and it shocks you. In the end, bitcoin is obviously the best and will stay the best because nothing else could come close to how decentralized it is and there could never be a problem for it, not with it directly, what you can do with it could be a problem, but not anything about bitcoin at default.

That's really crazy, though I feel a little bit underwhelmed sometimes since I've been already in crypto for 6 years almost and knowing that 40k coins that we have right now is a bit....underwhelming though I would not be surprised that there are more than uncounted crypto coins inside those 40k considering how many just turned out to be a scam.

Bitcoin is still the way to go if you're okay with the volatility. You might be able to just get away with it through converting it right away to your local currency. Here in my country, we have an app that can do that.

Of course, the best payment option is stablecoins. So you will at least approximately be on a par with the dollar. And so I would accept payment in any cryptocurrency, at least from the top 30

Yes, without us knowing it every year there are always new coins added, and you are right that among them there are coins that only deceive investors. Indeed, for those of us who have been in this space for a longer time, maybe we will not be too confused to see which coins do not end in fraud, but for beginners, of course, this will be very confusing for them. In fact, I have been asked several times by friends who are new to cryptocurrencies and the coins they ask are fraudulent coins.
Regarding which coins can accept bitcoin payments is always the first choice, but other than that maybe I like bnb more and then stable coins.

If it was a generalized cryptocurrency question then I would always choose to have my payment in Bitcoin and definitely if bitcoin wasn’t in the option I would then prefer stable coins.

If this question was only meant for Altcoin alone then I have no other choice than to go with Ethereum. I am a type of investor that tries to minimize my risk that why I go for the best option rather than gamble.

When it comes to receiving payments, no need to form what I am not, I'll ask to be paid in stablecoin and preferably USDT.
The reason for me is simple, in the real world we deal with fiat currency and it is easier to convert stablecoins to fiat money than any other crypto per time.

For gift and donations, I am open to receiving payments in any top 50 crypto on CMC.

bitcoin and ethereum are the first coins to be chosen as a payment alternative for a business, and stable coins, sometimes using USDT. Personally, I would also only pick those coins at the businesses I own. that's because bitcoin and ethereum are coins that are very popular and trusted. while USDT is the most widely used stable coin today. in fact, many threads are trying to accept bitcoins in their business. I think there will be very many people who choose bitcoin in this case.

I'm more interested in Matic / polygon, besides having good value, polygon is also safe for transactions because it has a strong network and it's also faster for us to do it. I'm interested in using polygon/matic for that reason
