Title: 5 Years, 5000 Merit and 7000 Posts.
Post by: mikeywith on April 14, 2023, 05:30:19 AM
I just realized that today is my 5th anniversary as a member of the Bitcointalk community, most of you don't know me and probably have not seen any of my posts, but I can assure you that I had a wild journey which I never saw coming, form a random newbie with a silly user name asking some stupid questions, to top 10 most merited user at some point, I don't even recall how all these events played out, not even sure how I managed to write 7000 posts despite being busy most of the time, but shit happens.  :D

My story is probably isn't new, many members built better profiles than mine in a short time, but the thing you need to understand is that it isn't difficult AT ALL to have a good place in this forum, you don't need coding skills or to be able to speak multiple languages, you don't even need to know how Bitcoin actually works, all you have to do is remain consistent and do your best to learn and share knowledge.

I would like to thank everyone who is contributing something to the forum, keep up the good work.

Now a new journey begins, and hopefully, 5 years later I would be able to write another boring story like this one.

Congratulations
Today marks your 5th year of Bitcoin forum, yes you may not be as well known as other users but you are a valued user of the forum. Your 5th year of glorious debut in Bitcoin is very remarkable and your contribution to the forum is undeniable.
Meanwhile, you may not be seen much, but your posts are often seen in the mining section. Your contribution to the section is undeniable, we are grateful to you for always sharing your valuable information and knowledge with us.
Today, perhaps in the fifth year, your contribution is visible to the public and we hope that you will establish yourself in more important positions in the forum in the future.

There is a thread dedicated to concentrate this kind of self-congratulary threads, to avoid having a lot of threads in the section of people congratulating themselves.

Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements that makes you feel great! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5391471.0)

I think I had enough of these common topics like "Finally a member/full member/hero/legendary", "xday/xmonth/xyear legendary", "x is finally a member/full member/hero/legendary now", "1k/2k/3k/..../nk merit club", "one/two/three/n milestones achieved", "I am now member/full member/hero/legendary", "From beginner to member/full member/hero/legendary in x days", "Got my 1st/2nd/3rd/.../nth badge", "celebrating 1year/2years/3years/.../n years", "My/his/their contribution to the forum", "x men forum guide list" the list is way too long!

I understand that you get a pass on this because of what a high quality poster you are but I hope this doesn't set an example and go back to having a bunch of scattered threads of people congratulating themselves for having reached member ranks and the like.

Anyway, congratz for such a good contribution to the forum.

A lot of things you've been through in your 5 years on the forum, it's not easy to reach Legendary rank with 5000+ merits without a good contribution to the forum. When you first registered, you did a lot of stupid things, starting from ridiculous questions and spamming, which caused many posts to be deleted by Mod.
Now that you are an adult with the highest rating on the forum, there are still many positive things you can do to guide Juniors with constructive education. Five years later.!! Who can guess, I hope you stay consistent here with higher quality posts. The next challenge is for you for 5 years and then you can enter the 10k merit club.

Congratulations, it's rare to find someone as helpful, knowledgeable and uncompromising as the owner of the @mikeywith account.
I hope the 10th anniversary passes and you have more than 10,000 merits, keep up the good posts.
I've asked @mikeywith many times and he helped me so I consider him a trusted account  and he's a good & active member of both mining and local board.

I'm familiar with you, though I don't think we've interacted much over the years.  I haven't looked at your post history, but I'm assuming that's most likely because we frequent different sections.  It's either that or I'm a totally inattentive idiot with a worsening memory problem the more I spend time here.  Lol.

the thing you need to understand is that it isn't difficult AT ALL to have a good place in this forum, you don't need coding skills or to be able to speak multiple languages, you don't even need to know how Bitcoin actually works, all you have to do is remain consistent and do your best to learn and share knowledge.
I can strongly second that; I came to the forum as a bitcoin skeptic to say the least and mainly to take advantage of Theymos's very liberal moderation policy, i.e., I wanted to troll the morons I saw making ridiculous posts in terrible English when I was a lurker.  I have no background in computer science, cryptography, or even that much in technology--most people here are so much more knowledgeable than me in those areas that I'm surprised I ended up with the reputation I have.  I made up for my shortcomings in expertise by being a controversial and outspoken personality (that's my take on it, at least), and I see a lot of new members and even some who've been here for a couple of years who are nearly identical to each other in terms of the boring, generic content of their posts and who infuse none of them with any personality whatsoever.

So to anyone who wants to be rollin' around the bitcointalk hood at 2am like a boss, smoking a blunt, cruising for trouble....you have to make your presence known in one way or another (and without being such a retard that you get banned).  I'm not sure that's what most people are aiming for, though.  This forum is like a place of employment for many, and they don't necessarily care to do much beyond making posts of 160 characters, etc., etc.  Same old story.

There is no obligation to post in any dedicated thread to announce anything. Nowadays when a thread of this sort appears someone will comment about posting in the dedicated threads but I see no real reason to oblige. Some have flooded in the hope of receiving merits (which clearly is not the case here).

We have not interacted much previously but I have seen some of your posts. I wish you success and prosperity in your next 5 years and beyond  :)

Congratulation, dear mikeywith!  :) :)

Your achievements here are truly outstanding and I believe we can say very certainly that you've become very famous on Bitcointalk, especially for your knowledgeable and technical contributions, which are very helpful for Bitcointalk after all.
In addition, I like your general encouragement in your OP as well as your journey can be very inspiring for new members.  :)

Finally, it's time to request an update in LoyceV's topic again. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5099167.msg62097640#msg62097640)  ;)

No need to delete your topic in my opinion. I agree to JollyGood here, that new topics about achievements should be eligible to create. If there's no obvious intention of aggressive Merit fishing because OP can't get Merit by normal posts (which is clearly not the case for mikeywith), new achievements topics should be eligible.  :)

Congratulation mate mikeywith.

I see you're very active even in your local, I believed that the more you're active and give your dedicated time to the forum will receive a reward and you deserved it because you've contributed very well here in the forum.

Based on BPIP.org, you're in 22nd place (https://bpip.org/Report?r=earnedmerit) on most earned merit and 31st place (https://bpip.org/Report?r=mostmerit) on most merit.

Salute you mate.

Congratulations on your five long years with the forum. In these five years you have earned more than 5000 merits while your number of posts is more than seven thousand. No doubt you are an important member of this forum. You have contributed a lot to this forum. Most of your posts Mining support(18%), Mining speculation(10%), and Mining(4%) are not important forum posts but you have contributed significantly to the forum.
Hope you continue like this in future. If you are regular active in the forum, expect your merit number to exceed 12000 in next five years.

In this case, as in the other of joker_josue I think that the community sees better that a separate thread is made for people who have made an exceptional contribution to the forum, and not just someone who has reached with a lot of effort Member rank but having twice the activity.

You are right 1miau. Anyway, that dedicated thread was created not that long ago under the guise of reducing spam and/or reducing announcements that we remade in the hope of receiving merits but personally I would not bother posting in it if I wanted to announce anything and many others have continued to ignore it by posting their announcements in their own newly created threads.

The situation changes of-course if the forum admins create a dedicated thread for members to make their personal announcements. If they did then it is fine we all should post our milestones and rank-up and other announcements in that admin created dedicated thread but since that did not happen there is definitely no obligation for members to post in any thread that any member creates and states it is for this reason or it is for that reason.

Just to remind you that I never spoke of an obligation, I think it is not necessary to quote myself, you can see my post above
I did not quote you, there is a misunderstanding. I merely advised the OP there was no obligation to post in any dedicated thread (because it was not set up by admins as a rule) and that he was more than welcome to post about what he wanted. Sorry for the confusion.

Your commitment and consistency over the last 5 years has made me jealous, your achievements have surpassed me who registered earlier in this forum. It must be admitted that 7,000 posts indicate that you really exist in the forum, every time there is an opportunity, you always take the time to be active here.
Your knowledge is much more increased than mine which is still in the learning stage due to being inactive for a long time for personal reasons. What you achieve is something to be proud of yourself and also motivation for other users. Acquiring 5000 merits is not easy to achieve, but you can achieve it with the support of knowledge while you are here. Keep going further buddy. We are looking forward to knowledge and guidance from you who have succeeded in achieving something that is still our dream.

Even if you don't feel great here, we always feel great for you. Maybe we didn't know you that way because you weren't involved in any major activities. Hope you will discover more good things in this forum from now on. May we see you achieve even better in the next 5 years from now. I found you wrote the most about mining maybe you know the most about mining. But you should give some time to the Bitcoin Global section from now on. Didn't see a post of yours there.

Based on your achievement have been success got 5,000 merit since five years in Bitcointalk forum we can calculated you earned 1,000 merit every years and 83 merit every months until 6 merit above on every days. Its seems interested with your global statistic but can't be wrong one day you got many merit but another day have lower merit achievement. But most awesome with your achievement since 5 years in Bitcointalk right now your merit have been 5074.

Hope you have little trick or guide how to get many merit points exactly above 5,000 merit since 5 years in Bitcointalk forum, which one board more dominance to earn merit based on your experience?

I know of many people that have wasted many years on social media without any meaningful outcome but you have maximized this five years. This post has encouraged me to do my best, keep learning and contribute to the forum. 5000 merits from 7000 posts is proof that your posts were impactful. If in 5 years you can get 5000 merit, in the next 5 years you can definitely reach 2 times 5000.

Five anniversary with five thousand (5,000) Merits is pretty good, that means you were able to accumulate 1000 Merits each year. That is a good job my mate. Your good work has fetched you all these and carry you to this far. I don't know why you are saying new journey begins, they have not created a Rank that you s bigger than Legendary rank so the remaining thing to do is to contribute more meaningful topics and thread to get more Merits to increase your Merits bank like like thump in other social media platforms.

Congratulation OP, you have show so much commitment in this community to be here for up to 5yrs and you still just see yourself like it was yesterday. The forum needs people like you who well grounded in bitcoin knowledge based on your experience in the forum and on bitcoin. I see that you have already chosen a board of concentration that you are helping the forum with your bag of knowledge. Bitcoin mining is the most important aspect in bitcoin and I give you kudos on this. I hope I can be on the forum up to this number of years. Happy 5th year Anniversary

OP is really inspiring for all of us. For those who say that getting merits is hard on bitcointalk, OP can be motivational for them too.
Having most of the post on bitcoin mining section shows that he is one of the knowledgeable persons as not everyone can write in that section as it need a complete grip on the topic.

By the way, he got on average 83 merits per month (5000/60=83.3) and made on average 166 posts per month (7000/60= 116.66).
The merit to posts ratio is phenomenal.

Five anniversary with five thousand (5,000) Merits is pretty good, that means you were able to accumulate 1000 Merits each year.  ??? in other social media platforms.

Well if you divide 5000/5 you get 1000, but that's not the case, without digging too deep into my status I am pretty sure that in some years I might have gotten 2000 merit, and in other years no more than 500, there are many factors related to how fast you can earn merit, there are certain sections where you are more likely to gain merit than others, however, chasing merit is a terrible thing to do, I post in the sections where I think my knowledge is most valuable and I think everyone should do the same, I never stopped posting in the mining section despite the fact that the only merit source there has left the forum (I am now the only merit source for that section). I know if I had posted the same number of posts elsewhere I would probably get more merit, but honestly, I don't really care because mining-related subjects are my favorite.

Also, don't get disappointed for not receiving merit for posts you made good efforts for, those posts can earn merit a few months or years after posting them, many members give up and think they will never get merit just because nobody merited their posts 2 hours after they have posted it -- it doesn't work like that, your valuable contribution will eventually earn you merit in the long term, which is why I said in the OP that you need to be consistent and patient.

Congratulations mate, five years is not an easy task, you have done well so good enough to have achieved this milestone on bitcointalk, it not about the years of stay but also about countless numbers of achievements which you have made through in this, it shows in your merits and post as well, this is what others can take a good example to learn from and believe they can achieve beyond that provided that they remain active on the forum and never relent from giving out the best.

Btw those 5000 merits, thats a tonne loaaad of them...pretty much an an equivalent to 5 legendary(s), 10 Hero members or 20 Senior members, what a milestone congratulations to you @mikeywith thanks for the inspiration  hope to get there one day ::)

Congratulations once again :)

Congratulating 5000 posts and completing this milestone in five years is extremely difficult. Yet you have to overcome this long road and the more difficult road ahead. But I think 10000 posts will make you out of date pretty quickly. Milestones like this can only be achieved by legends and you are one of the few people in the forum who have achieved such milestones.
Move forward into the distant future and achieve greater milestones. Achievable by you.
Good luck....

In five years you have posted 5000 merit 7000 plus that is a huge achievement for you. If we convert five years into days then 1825 days in these 1825 days you have earned 5000 merits that means you have earned about 2.7 merits on an average every day. And you post about 4 every day.  So the calculation is that you get about three merits by posting about four every day.
According to these statistics, if you had posted more in a day, your merit number would have increased. Congratulations to you.

Undoubtedly he has contributed a lot to this forum. A few high quality members usually have milestones of 10,000 posts and he is just a few posts away from 10,000 posts. As he has contributed a lot to the forum in a relatively short time, it is expected that he may reach the milestone of ten thousand posts very soon. We look forward to congratulating him once again.

Everyone of us can still have same opportunity he has or even more depending on how we see it coming or desire for such, I've been seing user's account with many activities loaded without merits showing forth as a proof to what they have been contributing while accumulating those activities through the kind of posts they made, obviously not everyone of us will have higher activities and at the same time enough merits but you could deduce a quality poster if he always get the required amount of merits required for each rank before the rank up date or activities met, or a little bit after the activities to rank up, we can all set a target and work towards it in due time.

Congratulations mate despite that is coming late, the thing I understand with forum is that when you acclimatised with the method of forum you will not know when you will make a thousands of within a short period, and secondly if you are in signatures campaign constantly your aggregate of post count will be accumulating because its something you do subsequently and also choose it as a priority, some of the users who is not participating in any signature campaign and they interact in the forum once in awhile, it's obvious that their accumulation of post count is not same as a user participating in signatures campaign, so we need to congratulate someone who is active in the community of bitcointalk with engagement of different conversations across the boards or sections and subsections of bitcointalk forum because the presences or suggestions is needed to elevate and inspire others especially newbies who just come in bitcointalk forum to devote out time to learn and comprehend the system.

One period of our presidential leadership is here, we have gone through many things that cannot be mentioned one by one, 5 years /5 months/ my dispute with you is in Bitcointalk, you entered April 14, 2018, I entered August 25, 2018, you have expertise in your field, I have my part, your points have provided good knowledge and knowledge for the community here, the essence of Bitcoin, it's something quite valuable, certainly can't be valued in money, the knowledge you have about Bitcoin is ingrained in the soul of the community, it's very valuable.

@mikeywith, I personally salute you, everything you develop here, good luck for you in the future.

It's true I haven't reached my goal yet due to various reasons, but reading these posts from members like you motivates me. Hope you do another post like this when the next five years are over and your achievements will double from now.

Mikeywith I congratulate you fifth anniversary in the forum, in this five years journey you have done excellent by contributing to the forum. It is not easy to achieve this number of merit in this five years, your story will be a motivation for you to still do more work and will also motivate other members like me to put more effort for improvement. I respect and admire your achievements and I wish you more strength and good luck to achieve more than what you have now in the next coming five years.

I think for you to make it to this stage in this Forum is not a joke, you'd have that moment when you think quiting this Forum is the best but if you're not patient enough you'd be hitting the exit. Like you said, is all about being consistent and also being active, getting that recognition and also contributing for the better good of this legit and outstanding Forum.
Continue what you're doing, may this post be a motivation to newbies including myself.

Don't promise anyone to do anything extraordinary in the future, as long as the BTT forum is accessible there is always a chance for you to write like Op when the time comes. Try contributing to the forum from now on, you can do small things that can bring merit to your profile. Getting 5000 merit in five years is not an easy job that can be done by ordinary users, many want to do like Op but not all of them can achieve it. Hopefully this topic can be a motivation for you to contribute to the forum, anything is still possible as long as you have a strong will.

I am very lucky to see this thread, as a beginner on this forum I am very amazed and motivated by your hard work.
It's not easy to post useful stuff so you get merits and climb high ranks.
This is really a very amazing thing for me, therefore I try to learn with you by checking your post history, so that I can emulate and be able to make useful and quality posts like yours.
Motivation can come from anywhere including this topic, @mikeywith has gone through various obstacles since he first registered on the forum. Criticism, suggestions and posts on hapas have made his stomach full with these things. Learning from mistakes needs to be made so that the same mistakes are not made again in the future.

Nothing is difficult to do as long as you are willing to learn, he is also the same as other users when he first set foot on the forum with all the limited knowledge. It takes a process to become like @mikeywith, sooner or later you will become like him as long as there is a desire to learn. Never hesitate to do good in the forum, speaking without action is like putting water in the basket.

I think this is my most favorite paragraph ever read from someone posting an advice to everyone. Thats exactly should everyone would feel. The skills need here in forum is being consistent and not those technical well though thats a bonus and useful when it comes to discussion but be yourself and find a place where you are suited. Cant really post on some thread that we arent familiar or have knowledge, but questions could be a key if you want to discuss or know something.

I think that 5k merits are well deserved. Gratz to those achievement. Hope you could help more aspiring users to be just like you.

Congratulations you have achieved 5000 merit till now in a journey of five years in this forum. I think it is a great thing to be associated with the forum for five long years. Not everyone can stay connected to this forum for as long as you have. Your actions show that you are a very patient person. You have earned 5000 merits in five years. you have earned 1000 merits every year. A little mathematical calculation shows that almost three merits are earned every day. Best wishes to you as you move forward.
