If they will pay you through Bitcoin, you definitely need to have a bitcoin wallet. For that, we have various types: hardware, software, and paper wallets. From these three, the most convenient for you right now is to get a software wallet.
We have lots it, to name some: Electrum, Exodus, Atomic, Coinomi, and Mycelium.
I personally using Mycelium, so far I have no issues using it.
You can download any of these wallet through their websites or via your application store (App Store, Play Store, etc.)

After you had installed it, you'll be asked to create a new account. Just proceed.
After that you may opt to search for your bitcoin wallet. Since they will be paying you, then you should get your bitcoin address using the "receive" button or alike. Next is to forward that address to the person who will send bitcoin to you as payment. From there, you just have to wait for them to send the funds to you.

You can use bitcoin to as a payment method (if there are any store that accepts it on your area). You can also trade it for other cryptocurrency. Another thing you can fo with it is to convert these to your local currency using reputable Trading sites such as Binance, Coinbase, OctaFX, and such.

It all depends on the country that you reside. There is nothing harm in getting paid in Bitcoin. The problem you might face is to convert it to your local currency depending on the law in your country.

Since you would be receiving funds in Bitcoin. You would need a Bitcoin wallet to receive, store & send it . I would ask you to check both Mycelium wallet  (https://wallet.mycelium.com/)& Electrum wallet (https://electrum.org/#home). Both can be downloaded on either a mobile device or a computer. After you have downloaded any one out of those two you need to setup a back up.

Backup would give you seed phrases, which are nothing but keys to access your wallet incase you lose your mobile or your computer gets corrupted. Keep them safe and never disclose them to anyone. After that all you need to do is either check on Google or YouTube for tutorials on how to use any of the mentioned wallets.

You don't have an idea about what aspect specifically? If you're talking about the legal side of things, you're far better off asking a lawyer/accountant — also taking note that laws differ from country to country and sometimes state to state.

If you want to get payed in bitcoin, you just need to download a wallet and create a receiving address

I suggest that you download electrum and just follow ghe instructions (basically note down the seed in a paper).

Then your customer will transfer btc to your electrum wallet. You can then sell those btc in any exchange to convert to fiat

Paying with Bitcoin isn't a bad idea, how do you understand Bitcoin, do you have a little knowledge about Bitcoin?
Creating a wallet isn't the problem, but you need to know more about it don't just move base on what u head.
You need to know how Bitcoin works, although bitcoin is the best-known cryptocurrency platform around the world, but there are some things about it you still may not know to avoid being scam.

Paying you in bitcoin is never a terrible idea, but do you know how it works? You can be paid in bitcoin, but you must understand how it works. I notice you're still a novice with little knowledge about bitcoin.
But allow me to offer you a brief guide that I have. Downloading a wallet and creating an account with a secure private key are the only requirements. Some wallets will ask you for seed phrases, which you must keep private. Think of them as the key to your wallet; keep them to yourself.

Additionally, you should be aware that if bitcoin is not accepted where you live, I cannot recommend using it as a form of payment since you may encounter difficulties when trying to use the funds because there will be no means for you to convert them to your local currency.

I'm not really sure of what you're scared of, but if you are scared that the price of Bitcoin might drop and you'll lose some of your money then you can sell the coin as soon as you receive it.

Or perhaps you could ask person that's about award you the contract to convert the Bitcoin into your prefer choice, because before a contract is signed both parties involved must first come to an agreement and now you're complaining about receiving your payment in Bitcoin, which means you didn't actually with the other party's term. Or perhaps I'm just missing everything up.

If it is not an international job where you are working remotely the contractors can easily pay you through your bank account. Discuss this with them if you are not open to receiving payment in bitcoin.

If you are open to the idea of receiving the payment in bitcoin or the company is strict with their payment policy and you want to retain the job: brush up your knowledge about Bitcoin. You are already on one of the most helpful forums to learn about bitcoin, you can explore ways to receive payment and convert to fiat immediately, or opening a cold storage wallet and storing your bitcoins.

You should count yourself lucky to find such a customer that wants to pay in Bitcoin. It's a rare opportunity if you knew more about bitcoin, if you are scared you can immediately convert the funds to your local currency and purchase all the materials required to carry out the task. But if the money is your salary and the company provides working materials for you then you need to get a hardware wallet to store the funds; this depends on the number of zeros or figures is your salary.

Did you ask them if there's another method you will get paid?. If they only want to oay Bitcoin then you should make a research about it and also create a wallet for you to receive Bitcoin. You only need to give the wallet address. Anyway, I am a little bit confused if it's you who will get paid or someone and wanted to get paid in Bitcoin. If you make it clear then I might be able to help you with that matter. Can you explain to us what things you don't like so that we can find a solution?.

Just ask the contractor to pay you in cash if that's what you like to get paid and if it's written on your contract on how much you should receive then they should honor your contract and what was signed on the deal.

But if it's in the contract and the payment will be in bitcoin, you still worry not because it's still money that you can easily convert into your local cash, you just need to find local markets where you can convert that.

I think before anything else, try to confirm if the job offer is authentic first. Is it remote or on-site/F2F?

Job scams are also rampant these days - some would ask you to pay a fee first, request your personal documents and ghost you or the most common, they will redirect you to a shady exchange which they secretly own and type-in some numbers in your account as a form of payment.

Ask your employer how the whole process would go and do a background search on them.

Bitcoin is a good idea if only you have knowledge about it, so learning the basics is really important for a beginner like you. The first thing that you need to know, of course, is how to receive and keep it. So, you need a wallet to do that. It can be an online wallet or a hardware wallet (physical) like Ledger. Once you make the wallet, always remember to keep your private key (it's important to access your wallet) and not to share it with other people. When you have a wallet, there will be an address (a (public key) included that you can share with your payer so they can send the bitcoin to your address. When you receive it, you can see the amount in your wallet, and you can check the transaction through the blockchain explorer by inputting your bitcoin address. After you own the BTC, you might want to change it into fiat money. You can do this by selling it on the exchange. Most people will do the trading on centralised exchanges. Try to find information on the best centralised exchanges for your country (since sometimes you can't access big exchanges like Binance without a VPN in some countries). If you are interested in learning more about bitcoin, I suggest you start by reading the threads in this forum and getting used to reading the news from trustworthy sources like Cointelegraph, CoinDesk, and many others.

Be careful when accepting cryptocurrencies for your work since I've seen a lot of scams related to it.

Most of the time, it ends-up in an unknown exchange/wallet which will ask you some deposits before you can withdraw the funds,
But after a deposit, it wont even release the coins.
So, where did they sent your payment?

Bitcoin is a digital currency that anyone can freely use and make instant payments to anyone without any banking hassles. In this case one person has a bitcoin wallet and if there are bitcoins then sends bitcoins to another person through his bitcoin wallet.  And because Bitcoin is a valuable and potential currency, many people prefer this Bitcoin. and there are many cases where various companies and various online service providers accept payments in Bitcoin. It is a simple payment method.  If you want to accept payment in bitcoins then you need to have a bitcoin wallet and your customer will send you bitcoins through that wallet. But whether or not you personally accept payment in Bitcoin is entirely up to you.  And on your country restrictions.  If you can easily convert Bitcoin to your country's fiat then you can accept payments in Bitcoin without any problem.

In the employment contract agreement it is stated where you will be paid using fiat which is transferred to your bank account or with Bitcoin. Companies cannot make decisions without the consent of both parties, especially regarding payments.
It should be underlined, not all employees who get contracts at the company where you work understand how to exchange Bitcoin into fiat. It's very complicated to explain to those of you who don't understand about bitcoin, starting from wallets, private keys, registering on exchanges and transferring to bank accounts after bitcoin becomes fiat. Try to go to your boss then convey your complaints to him.

If paying employees with Bitcoins is a condition of the company, you must have a Bitcoin Wallet to receive your salary.

The question is how do you know the contractor awarded you with Bitcoin? did they prove it with the address?. If yes (and you never create a wallet or account exchange yet) you must ask for that private key and move it ASAP, or the best way is, don't accept it, just ask for fiat, or you must immediately learn quickly how to create a wallet bitcoin to send it to your own wallet.

this is a bit confusing for me because you don't know much about Bitcoin, but your partner sent in what you don't understand, which I think it's very risky to be scammed.

looks like he did it on purpose.

You can have better answers from your locals. Ask this question in your local board will help you to get better answers. Your locals will understand local conditions and how to buy, sell, spend your bitcoins than foreigners.

Finally got my boss to pay me in Bitcoin  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5430208.0). This member is from Nigeria too so go asking him.

You could easily ask your employer to be paid on Bitcoin, but for some businesses and countries, this might not be a thing so I don't think they going to pay you Bitcoin just because you want to be paid on Bitcoin.

I don't think it's a good idea for you to take Bitcoin as a payment, fiat money would work well for sure, Bitcoin would be a big hassle at this point unless you're going to invest everything on your payroll.

Well, for as long as the price is right, it doesn't matter whether the contract is to be settled in Bitcoin or fiat. Personally, though, I'd be happy if I'm paid in Bitcoin. But it is also possible that some wouldn't be happy about it especially if they're not familiar with Bitcoin. Also, payment in Bitcoin comes with additional responsibilities. And if you need to spend the money paid to you right away, then expect to do a few tasks in converting your Bitcoin into fiat.

I suggest that you familiarize yourself with Bitcoin first before accepting it as payment.

I'm curious OP, if you don't know anything about Bitcoin how come you find your way to Bitcointalk Forum? Or does this person who wants to pay you in Bitcoin direct you to learn more about Bitcoin on this forum or you are the one that finds the forum? I think you are in no shape to accept Bitcoin right now, please ask him to pay you in Fiat currency for your sake, a newbie who knows nothing about Bitcoin and decide to accept Bitcoin as payment is like a child who picked up a venomous snake on the ground and decide to pet with snake.

You can easily do something very wrong, which could cost you your entire Bitcoin, if you have an interest to know more about Bitcoin, try learning about it later when you are in no haste to accept Bitcoin as means of payment.

He's been constantly spamming on the Nigeria board, and if he had a genuine question, I'm sure he'd have asked it on the local board or the person who brought him here, because I'm sure he didn't stumble upon the forum while digging for gold or oil. Someone must have directed him here just to fish merit, rank up, join signature company, and spam everywhere.

Someone who claims to know nothing about bitcoin will not accept payment in BTC, and no company in Nigeria is permitted to accept/send payment in BTC. The OP is simply casting hooks into the river and hoping it catches a fish..

And you are right about OP evading ban - self-acclaimed ban evasion confession.

I made a mistake posting something I was supposed to without putting the reference link but I think I have learnt from my mistake now and am ready to buckle up and learn from the vast knowledge about crypto that is present here in the forum.

If you are a Nigerian living and doing business in Nigeria, I can bet that no company will pay you in Bitcoin.

If you disagree, send me the name of the company. I repeat, NO COMPANY IN Nigeria WILL PAY ANY CONTRACTOR IN BITCOIN.

It is not a personal project I guess. It sounds ridiculous that a country that ban Bitcoin transactions would close their eyes to this. Never.

Furthermore, if you actually need help, you should ask

- the awarding company to explain it better to you. Or better still ask them to pay you in Naira.

-  Go on Google and ask your questions. Use

Your message looks rather strange.
Firstly, if you don't know anything about bitcoin, then which wallet did you accept this cryptocurrency to?
Besides, how could you not know that you would be paid in this form? Now you need to think about how legal this action was. Depending on the country of your location.

It's very good to be paid with bitcoin but it all depends on your country of residence if they permit payments using bitcoin or the project owner is allowed to pay you with bitcoin.
As a member here it's better you download a reputable wallet or since you are beginner you may use trustwallet to receive the payment if is that urgently for them to pay you before starting the contract then fine. Later you could look for the best wallet and moved all your funds back inside there to be well secured and protected.

First you have to have a bitcoin wallet after that you can pay using bitcoin. There are no binding disclaimers against people wanting to pay you in bitcoin, but if you live in a country where bitcoin is not legal as a means of payment, you will also have to sell it or convert it to fiat currency for everyday payment transactions. Although for now there are several online services that have accepted payments using bitcoins.

I think it's a good idea to pay using bitcoin and you can convert enough for your daily needs and the rest you can use for investment. So the choice lies with the person who is willing to pay and most importantly you have a bitcoin wallet.

Actually, currently payment with Bitcoin has become an alternative, especially for global payments. But the problem is that most people don't understand Bitcoin, so real Bitcoin education is very important. In your case, this is actually normal and not a problem. But the problem is when you don't understand Bitcoin and everything related to it, then this might be a little difficult for you. Because you also have to think about having your own personal wallet to accept Bitcoin then if you want fiat you have to understand how to sell the Bitcoin and withdraw it to your bank account. This may look normal for some people, but it will be complicated and risky for people like you who don't understand, especially the risk of getting scammed or something else. . So in my opinion, if you want to accept Bitcoin as payment, you also have to learn about Bitcoin, wallet, how to receive, sell and withdraw it properly to your account to avoid all forms of fraud and loss.

Yes agreed, I think OP need some lesson first because he clearly is a newbie in bitcoin who don't know how to get paid in bitcoin. So before start taking payments in bitcoin first OP needs to know how to cashout your Bitcoin when you need fiat. How to create a bitcoin wallet and how to secure your wallet and operate the wallet.

In general, receiving payment in Bitcoin as a contractor can have both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, Bitcoin payments can offer a higher level of security and faster processing times compared to traditional payment methods. But , it's important to remember that Bitcoin is volatile that can fluctuate in value in a short space of time. So it's advisable to make sure you have a good understanding of Bitcoin and how to securely store and use it before accepting payment in this form.

Mate that's a good idea that they will pay you bitcoin after all you did. And also as long as you know what Bitcoin is, how did it works then you can accept with that. But remember before you can get that amount you need to have a bitcoin wallet, to receive the amount that they will sent as a pay for your award. Yeah, such abrupt nonsense and thing is, the next thread isn't far behind. Am just curious as to reasons why, the established users aren't doing such or

Are they not having this opportunities?
Are they not working with people?
Are there not contractors that are getting contracts amongst ranked users?
Aren't established user enthusiast enough as them newbies?

Its that bad how these users continue to flood this forum with such generic thread and not know how to use the search button. Am no longer falling for this.
To be clear, you don't even need the search button on the forum to link back to existing related threads on the forum. What these guys need is simply a search on either of the search engine such as google. You'll get suggestions that are related to this forum, click and get your answers.

More so, i am yet to see someone with some follow up by means of giving results or reviews as per how them services are going. All advice given are almost aborted after the thread creation. The goodness is, people are now paying less attention to this sort of thread and when we find a genuine one, we too users of the forum would understand.

If someone more positive towards the currency was in power, we would had been more further than we're today in the adoption of Bitcoin in Nigeria.

At the moment, no company will give you a contract in Bitcoin as it's illegal to use officially in the country but hopefully all this will change when the next administration take over power since they have proved to be pro blockchain adoption. I thought this kind of lies where only meant for the Bitcoin discussion board since that's where we have people believing everything they see in regards to Bitcoin adoption in Nigeria. 99% of all the threads over there are false but you know what, Nigeria is very large country that I mightn't know what's going on in other states that isn't my resident so I just stay mute.

is it good for a contractor to be awarded a contact  and be  payed  with Bitcoin .I was awarded a contact and to be payed with Bitcoin  I don't have any idea about it i  need a help from these foroom please?

It's great if you can get paid with Bitcoin, you can convert it directly to a stablecoin when you get it or you can hold it as an investment.

But just as a suggestion that in this agreement you must use an escrow as a party that can secure your agreement. If your client says that they will pay after the job is done, you shouldn't have to accept that because it's too risky.

It's better if your client sends their payment to escrow and as soon as everything is done you can get your payment.

*But it seems that the majority of people here say that your case is not true. It is very funny. But even so my suggestion seems useful to others.

It's quite sad how I see foreigner fall for this lies by newbies account coming on the forum to tell lies then it look like the adopting of Bitcoin in Nigeria is improving meanwhile we're going backwards.

I don't really know the rate at which they fabricate post in other to convinced the reader.
I have also be mean to asked this question to op, how will a company offer to pay him with bitcoin for a contract knowing too well that bitcoin isn't that generally made as legal tender to used openly by companies to send out payments. But however, if op statement claims to be true then downloading a well known wallet will be more better, and should be familiarized with protecting his privacy. Such as Seed phrase and private keys.

Then lastly, if the company asked him to download a specific wallet or app for the payment to be sent op should know that he has been indirectly or directly scam because as long as bitcoin payment is concerned, whatever bitcoin address or exchange address sent to them should be able to allow them make payment to the address.

You live in Nigeria, and got paid for your work in Bitcoin, why should we tell you if it's good for you or not?
What don't you understand specifically?
The only thing I see is that you are opening threads all over the forum that aren't really specific.
And yes, we still remember your blocked account.

I had to click the post you referenced and checked the account that was allegedly perm banned because of plagiarism. The writing styles of the former and later account is same, I mean the message tone and over familiarity with the forum members. You are indeed a detective.

But I really think that people who are banned do return to the forum in another account and continue their journey. If Op has done theirs in a dumb way, I believe the moderators may overlook it seeing that the OP is not only new to the forum but also new to the cryptocurrency industry. So, he/she is kinda clueless.

First off, you should've edited your little post for errors before posting (or after you posted it). Secondly, I don't believe your story of getting paid in Bitcoin where there's no other option of payment and you made it sound it's being foisted on you. Nah! Things don't work that way. There's always an understanding before that's done. If you wrote for merit's sakes, you can see it fell flat on its face. Next time, just be yourself and don't write to please anyone by making up stories.
