From my experience as a business person, in buying and selling, I have discovered some helpful tips on how to increase profit. I an happy to share some in this forum.
Customer relation, a business person must understand that customer is king and should be treated like a royalty. Even it they are buying the least thing in your shop. When they leave your shop delighted, be assured that they will always come back to patronise you. And they will even market your products to their friends. Meaning more patronage for your business which will be increasing your profit.
Your business should have at least one season when you give out rewards and discounts to customers when they buy your products. This will increase your sales geometrically and when you remove the cost of the reward and discounts, you will still have increased profit.
Stock different brands of the products that you sell. Customers will prefer to enter a shop where they will see different varieties of what they need. More customers will enter and will even be tempted to buy more than they planned for. More customers equals more profit.

I guess it's boils down to good customer service and then promotions and marketing as you have said. Yeah, you need to offer variety of items. For example if you are in the shoe business, then you should have at least full sizes of the shoes that you are selling.

I also have online store that born out of the pandemic, and if I may add about the negatives though, there are competitors out there that wanted your business to be destroy so just be careful on who you deal with as well, just saying. Well, treating them like a king is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration. All customers are not polite to you and you have to know where to draw the line too, depending on the business you have. But yes, the customer is the one who feeds you and you have to treat him as well as you can as long as he is respectful to you.

Your business should have at least one season when you give out rewards and discounts to customers when they buy your products. This will increase your sales geometrically and when you remove the cost of the reward and discounts, you will still have increased profit.

Many people do not understand this, and it may seem paradoxical to them, but it has been proven that giving discounts or free things tends to increase sales not only during the promotion but even after it ends.

Well, one of them would be to publicize your business. Not in vain there is a concept called CAC, or Customer Acquisition Cost. It basically consists of investing in advertising and only very few businesses can avoid this and be successful. The question is to maintain a balance and always invest the right amount so that the customers you acquire and what you spend is higher, so that you obtain a higher return on your investment.

Quality and competitive pricing are important in business, but in my opinion, customer service is even more important if you want to increase sales and profits. As a customer, I prefer to go to stores with a good service attitude even though the prices may be higher than in other places.
In business, we should sell what the customer needs rather than what we have. I mean we should have many different models and based on the customer's attitude we should behave appropriately. That's something I take very seriously as a customer.

convenience, customer satisfaction, product quality, low prices, discounts, and good grammar from the seller are the keys where consumers will always be happy to come back to the business you have. it will let them do free advertising to people who need the same or similar products, and they will advertise it for free to their friends. it will increase the number of visitors and consumers at your place.

Advertising and brand recognition is one of the best way in boosting your profits. When you invest in advertising your business out there, people become more familiar with your products or services. Even better if you have something unique that you can use to promote your business. Like a slogan, or a product or anything that when people see will immediately recognize which business it is. The more the people recognize your business, the more you will be earning. But don't expect to earn a lot after few days of advertisement. In a long term thing and it will give you some good ROI after few months.

Discounts in business is risky too, I have seen people that use discounts to their advantages for their businesses and it works very well for them and I have also seen some people that use discounts and they end up losing more money because even after the discount many customers only take advantage of the discounts and move away from the store.

You need a proper discount strategy that won't end up a mess, I think discounts is not something that every business can make use of, the best businesses that are good for discounts are those that are into wholesale, even if the discount thing isn't working as they wished for they aren't at loss.

I agree, we don't need to make too much profit for each product sold, but instead can make a small profit but attract many customers, the total profit will be huge. If we sell cheaper than our competitors, we can retain old customers and attract new ones, which is a huge advantage that many large enterprises are applying. We are consumers ourselves, and we know what we need when we go shopping. Therefore, when doing business, always put yourself in the customer's position, then you will gain customers' love.

Suppose in business case you first started with a shop, the customer in that shop is actually treated very politely with that customer as a result of which it will be seen that the customer will be very happy with you and later he will come back to your shop and bring some more customers. That’s what some business people don’t really understand, they don’t have good customer relationships, when you are having a customer, make sure you know how to relate with them, you don’t just talk to them anyhow, you don’t insult them, whenever they are having problem with your products, make sure you Solve it appropriately, if your relationship with your customer is really nice, then it will always encourage them to patronize you and also invite people close to them to patronize you.

This is only applicable if you have an existing business with established market. Not all business have a loyal customer so this suggestion will not gonna gain additional profit on business that doesn’t have a customer.

Marketing is the simplest advice anyone can give to increase profit. This is what I’m doing to increase my business profit. Giving perks and discounts to my customers that purchased multiple times already makes them more loyal to my business.

Purchasing social media ads is the best marketing plan to target audience suitable for my business because social media is the hot spot for all the customers rather than the google ads.

Here are the things you need to increase your sales.

1. Know what you sell, because properly explaining what you are selling to your costumer can easily convince them to buy your product.

2. Increase your social media presence by actively promoting your business and use social media boosting to increase reached this is one effective way to increase your sales. But you also need to know your target prospect first so that your marketing campaign will became more effect.

3. Be more active to answer your costumer since 5 minutes delay or more longer can make them turn off and they will look for another seller which can answer their question more faster.

Those are strategies and communication/rapport is key to give that thought to your customers that you value them. While those rewards are somehow necessary and can only be applied a few times within a year or depending on how you want to do it as a business owner, that also gives the thought to the customers to come back everytime you're making those to make sure each of their purchases are worth to make. And that's because of those points that's being counted whenever they buy at your store. Even I, as a customer for different stores, that's also tryna making me back when there are points or rewards systems that's being implemented. But then, in all of this, customer service and them being satisfied is a top notch.

The customer is always right, that's the slogan I was told by my boss when I was operating a small business with him as the lead chief, it doesn't matter how wrong the customer was but you never attack them. You'll always make them feel comfortable and treated like royalty. This strategy always keep the customers coming back and with the friends to patronize you. If you want to succeed as a business owner, don't joke with your customers.

Another way to increase profits in a business is to reduced cost of production. Some businesses are making profits but when the expenses are been removed then they realized they weren't in any profits or the profits they realized has gotten reduced by a very large margin.

Marketing is a place where you have to provide what the audience wants.

For me marketing is the best way to increase your customer and profit as well. If you're a small business, you need to learn how to adapt on the latest trends and use it to market your product or service especially in social media. Social media can play a big factor to get recognized by possible customers. People nowadays love witty marketing strategy by using what's trending or funny ways of promoting your product. Also, a great design or layout can also help to attract people. Even bigger company spend a lot of effort on social media marketing because that's the fastest way to spread your business on a bigger audience.

After promoting and acquiring new customers, then that's when you have to work on maintaining those customers and make them loyal to you, either through experience or the quality of product you provide, or both. Once your customers enjoyed and we're satisfied with what you offer, you'll get free promotion because they will share it to their family and friends

I think one of the most important things in this business is that similar products can be found in every price range. If a customer refuses to buy a product because it is expensive, we should be able to say that a similar product is of lower quality but at a lower price. In this way, we sell a product in our store. If we tried to sell products at a single price, we would not be able to sell products to this customer. Our aim should not be to send the incoming customer empty-handed. A customer who leaves without buying anything is a big loss for that store.

The feature of successful business which you describe are very essential for maintenance of one's business but I think that behavior matters a lot because if you talk with costumers politely then everyone will buy the things from you but if you talk rudely and does not give any attention to costumers then the number of costumers will reduces even the cost is less than others.

Discount is also the best way but always think that more discount will collapse your business so try to understand this thing. Giving time to your business is also a good idea and if you have more varieties in your business then it will attracts more costumers towards your business so always make your business unique it will positively effects your business.

First, the location of your business can also determine the level of profit you get from it and the products you sell. For example when one decides to start of a business in a particular location, is it recommended that the person should carry out a survey to examine the kind of products people living in that area really likes buying more often, for example if one has a wine shop in a location that various ceremony (wedding, engagement part and all sort of parties) usually takes place, definitely the person will be selling there goods more often, but when a person just starts a grocery shop in areas where people are not much residing, ofcuse they will sell less and they will not sell off their goods so quickly to buy more and have the chance of making more profit, but once a person is in a location where their business is selling off so quickly, they have the opportunity to make more profit.

of course, maintaining relationships with consumers is a magical thing, I have a customer that I really care about, she diligently buys my merchandise and even offers to be my reseller. I visited her several times and saw that she was someone who could be trusted and humble. apart from that I also gave her and her child birthday gifts several times and she even considered me her sister.

if you run a business, you must be able to maintain good human relations because finding someone who is honest - trustworthy - kind to you is a treasure that cannot be exchanged for anything.

The most important thing is that all this attitude should come from the heart and be sincere. I have a business - I paint and sell paintings all over the world. And when a client writes to me, it's always a holiday for me. I adore everyone who comes to me for a painting, as this is both a profit for me and the value of what I need as an artist.
This is what I wake up for in the morning.

Also about discounts - I have discounts, customers love them. I also give coupons to regular customers.

Jeff Bezos has brought Amazon to where it is because they are a customer focused organization. Right  from the time he started out, he has always hammered on the Amazon being a customer - centric organization. That's one way to increase profit. Apples computer on the other hand has focused more on building the highest and most desired devices. In my estimation, these people are not customer-centric but product centric. So aside customer service, the products you create, if they are of the most highest standard would bring in the profits too.

Yeah you are right that a business need to offer discount at least once for a certain season. discount will attract more people to at least knowing your product or even buying it. I am sure if you really have good product, people will come back again to your business.

Diversify your brands of product that you sell will be good to attract more customers, but not every business can apply this because they are focus to sell their own product but at the same time they only have 1 or 2 type of products. But generally you have good point to do if a business are be able to stock different brands of the product that is sold by them.

Well sometimes you might need to weight out between making "customer right" which is kinda toxic business philosophy if you would ask me and growing your business. In the end, sales is what you needed and should want. If your product is not really needed nor wanted, why bother thinking that customer would even come back. Just hear me out in this example, almost every corners and block here in my area are composing of milk tea businesses and it is kinda getting annoying that these business owners think that milk tea are still a thing these days. Although I kinda understand that there are a lot of Korean fans here in my country (I know that bubble tea originated in Taiwan), it is kinda getting a saturated business idea ya know.

To answer your question about increasing profits in business, make sure the business and not just you is up-to-date to the trends these days. This is why I tend to avoid foods businesses since they're kinda high risk and people would be sick off the food due to it being repetitive.

First, the location of your business can also determine the level of profit you get from it and the products you sell. For example when one decides to start of a business in a particular location, is it recommended that the person should carry out a survey to examine the kind of products people living in that area really likes buying more often, for example if one has a wine shop in a location that various ceremony (wedding, engagement part and all sort of parties) usually takes place, definitely the person will be selling there goods more often, but when a person just starts a grocery shop in areas where people are not much residing, ofcuse they will sell less and they will not sell off their goods so quickly to buy more and have the chance of making more profit, but once a person is in a location where their business is selling off so quickly, they have the opportunity to make more profit.
Location won't help the business if the business idea in the location is really saturated. Here in my area like I previously mentioned, there would be people that might answer that they like milk tea, but then there are way too many competitors for milk tea business and that is kinda going to be a threat in my own end. For one, you have to know who your target audience is, and capitalize on them. If you're looking to expand your business and its profits, you have to cater to a wider array of people. This will inevitably cost you money, so be sure to have the money to fork if ever you're going towards the expansion path.

If you really couldn't fork the money for expansion. Free marketing is a real thing. Right now we have a lot of stuff to use and abuse like Facebook, Twitter, and Tiktok. Advertise your business there by employing common marketing techniques and incorporating trends into your advertisement.

I hope this helps. The latter I used with great results, so I can vouch for its effectivity.

of course, maintaining relationships with consumers is a magical thing, I have a customer that I really care about, she diligently buys my merchandise and even offers to be my reseller. I visited her several times and saw that she was someone who could be trusted and humble. apart from that I also gave her and her child birthday gifts several times and she even considered me her sister.

if you run a business, you must be able to maintain good human relations because finding someone who is honest - trustworthy - kind to you is a treasure that cannot be exchanged for anything.
This is a lesson often forgotten by those which just look at their balance sheet at the end of the month and they just see a bunch of numbers, but they forget that their clients are humans, so if you do not treat them well and make a point of doing so if they are your long term clients then they are bound to leave and replace you for a business that does, even if they have to overpay for the privilege, this means that any business regardless of the quality of their product still needs to try to give the best customer service they can or risk being replaced by another business which does.

Actually, there is always monopoly in business; perhaps if you have competitors in your area that sell the same product as you, then we still have to refer back to where the OP talked about maintaining a good customer relationship with customers. Because that will always help your customers stick to your shop and may also refer more new customers to you. But from my initial reply, I still persist that being in a good location where you can be open to many customers is also a key to making profit. Because first you need to be in a good location before you can get customers, and when you have those customers coming, you then need to maintain a good relationship with them. I knew about three different grocery shops in my area as of last year, but this year they have all relocated. When I came into contact with one of them, I happened to be her customer, so I asked her why her shop had been closed, and she said there were not many customers in that area and that she had to relocate to a new place because some of her items were exceeding their expiration dates. So first, I can say that lotion is a factor.

From my experience as a marketing person, you seem to be leaving out one of the most important aspects of any business and instead making the mistake of relying on your customers to lead the direction of marketing for you. You're the one who should be paving the path of how your customers view your product. Not the customers themselves. If your marketing is effective, you can maximize your profits without relying on hard logic. Marketing is more of a soft logic approach, which can be thought of as a tool of motivation. You need to convince someone of not just the fact that they need your product, but why they need your product and why they should buy from you.

Well, these are default thing on which it would really be just that having on a business because if you wont really be tending to do all sorts of those common approach on a business then you would definitely fail out.
Yes, lets say that you had applied it out, does it mean that you business would definitely or surely succeed? No. There's no assurance to this on which it would really be just that not a solid thing to rely on.
WHen building up a business then it would really be just that normal you would be having that approach which giving out importance to customers most of the time and would be giving out discounts
but be sure that you wont really overdropped if ever you would decided on launching one.

Of course you would really be basing up on how much money you are really that making or profits because you cant just launch up some discount just because it was really needed or you are showing desperation on

Well that is for your personal strategy and not for general strategy. Everyone has their own strategy of winning customers' mind. But the must appropriate method of winning customers' mind is the reduction of prices of the goods or the services. This is the most effective strategy I know, with that they will do the advertisement for you. So if that you method is working for you, then you can go with it, because it might not go with another person. In business you don't have to use only one method to attract customers.
There are sometimes you can even give them free gift to motivate them.

of course, maintaining relationships with consumers is a magical thing, I have a customer that I really care about, she diligently buys my merchandise and even offers to be my reseller. I visited her several times and saw that she was someone who could be trusted and humble. apart from that I also gave her and her child birthday gifts several times and she even considered me her sister.

if you run a business, you must be able to maintain good human relations because finding someone who is honest - trustworthy - kind to you is a treasure that cannot be exchanged for anything.

If you are in customer service industry, customers should always be considered, also with other fields of business. Problem with some businesses is that they tend to lessen their quality of service as they are being more known which is something a business owner should avoid. Costing is a factor which causes these changes but atleast, there are other ways to cope such as adjusting the price but maintaining the product. In such way, your customers would still be patronizing what you are offering to them. It would always be the kind of service you are providing. Being not alone in the competition is enough to say that maintenance and improvement should be met as years would go by.

However, the CRM referred to by @Renampun is also a part of business management systems. Fanbase management is crucial nowadays, even if you have an honest business, if your fanbase is not well managed, the chances of repeat orders will be very small. CRM teaches us how to make customers buy our products or services more than once, but we must also listen to customer feedback in order to provide good service.

Many businesses have survived for a long time due to clever business management in managing customers. Buyer development will continue to increase because the status of "buyer is king" is still felt by consumers.

That is true, even small discounts matter to the masses. Let's say 99cents or more.
But if they do compare it with others, they will surely buy it from your shop.
People want discounted items even if it is not much. That's how consumers are.
Small freebies are good attraction also. It won't hurt your business if you will give it from time to time.
But the impact of such move will be lasting for some, and who knows, such move will give them reason to be loyal at your shop?
Rewards, gift cards, vouchers, discount cards and small freebies are great marketing tools to sustain your business.
It will remind people or customers that you don't forget them. A simple gesture will give you loyal patrons in the long run.

Advertising and brand recognition is one of the best way in boosting your profits. When you invest in advertising your business out there, people become more familiar with your products or services. Even better if you have something unique that you can use to promote your business. Like a slogan, or a product or anything that when people see will immediately recognize which business it is. The more the people recognize your business, the more you will be earning. But don't expect to earn a lot after few days of advertisement. In a long term thing and it will give you some good ROI after few months.
I agree that they could really boost profits from your business. However, I still believe that even if you always do that, if there is no good customer service that is being applied in your business, people will not bite whatever advertising you may do. Customers will always first look on how the employees treat them, if they get satisfied with their services, then they will always follow whatever their advises or promotions they may suggest.

Marketing and Branding is obviously number one. You want an example? Apple iPhones are marginally worse than Samsung galaxies, and yet they are mostly used, why? Because its a brand, its a brand so much ingrained in the minds of Americans that they prefer it by like %90+ margin, sure its closer in other parts of the world, and I am sure in South Korea Samsung is heavily preferred as well, but that is normal because its technically speaking a better phone. Just put down every technical data on a piece of paper, and you will realize why its better. And yet, iPhone is preferred more. Same with MacBooks, its a horrible laptop that nobody should pay that much for, but they do, why? Because of branding and marketing. Do that very well, and get a good looking and good feeling product (can't be too shitty, it needs to be close enough at least) and you can sell anything to anyone.

Look for the demand and do things accordingly. Always use the advancement available with us to create new business opportunities. Never stay down at any moment. Most of the time business failure happens when the funds were utilised in the wrong way and there is no proper audit.

I beg to differ on the part I bolded as it doesn't apply to every customer. There are some customers you wish you didn't have because of their irritant behaviour. No matter how hard you try to please these ones, they won't be appeased. Perhaps, OP hasn't met such unpleasant humans. I think that expression is a cliché that rests on idealism rather than reality.

Too many customers obviously won't increase your profit, and if you're selling things at a loss to them, I don't think that's a good way to attract more customers.
Why would anyone sell below their goods at a loss and still call themselves a business person. OP didn't say sell at a loss but sell at a discount. Selling at a discount doesn't mean selling at a loss. What it simply means is that the business owner decides to lower their profit on the product.

I see where you're coming from. Indeed it is more than a requirement to have a good location considering also the factors, not just the people but also how convenient would it be to reach your store, let alone for your distributors and suppliers.

Also worth noting that I had worked with few clients and you're definitely spot on on maintaining relationships with customers. It gives rumors (good rumors of course) around your business regardless if it is a service rendered business or merchandise ones.

It kinda depends still on what business offers to people. Some business would still remain classy especially for those diner restaurants. I wouldn't ever return to a diner restaurant that just do some flashy ambience just to look "latest". Sometimes the latest design is not really the better one. Look on how other manufacturing companies "modernize" their logos.

Customer satisfaction should be the main concern of every shopkeeper, (as you already mentioned), as most of the time when i want to buy something from one shop, they don't even care about you and deal you as a time waster, like nowadays many people just went to shops for example of clothes or of any digital device (smartphone of Computer), ask various questions and at the end, they just make a lame excuse to cover the fact of wasting time of shopkeeper which really make them (shopkeeper) angry.

I recently have an experience of this, i actually went to another city for buying a 2nd hand phone and i almost spent 7 hours in the market, for the first 2 hours i was thinking, shopkeeper will tell me many things about device and will convince me to buy it but, "NO" they were like don't give a *** about a client, they were like you are also a time waster (hahaha) i don't know i should laugh on it or be angry about it, well when i came to know that, i adopted the same behavior as others were adopting and the 2nd day i went again and bought one.

Well as per your query, there are many ways to increase profits, such as;
  • Talk nicely and ask nicely, For example, when someone comes to buy something, ask him for water (i know that's not how deals are done in bigger cities but in my area, this happens). Ask them to sit (politely), your good behavior will encourage the customer to come again.
  • Show them some discounts because this will encourage customers to come again
  • If your store is not online then its a big mistake even if you have a small shop you must use third-party websites for example, Daraz and OLX (only in my region, seek yours), this will your product reach thus more customer will be there and according to your formula "More customers equals more profit"

That's a very good tip from the op, knowing how to treat and attend to customers i believe is one of the major ways to grow a business really fast, this is because, customers are the best marketers, promoters of any business, the power to make a business really big, or to destroy the business is in their hands, this is why every business owner out there must treat their customers well..

As a business owner, if you like, advertise your business on the television and radio station, have your products pasted in every billboard in town, if every customers that have patronized you are not happy with your service or way of treatment, and will not come back to patronize you again, be rest assured that business will collapse in the long run, except something changes before then.

That's a very good tip from the op, knowing how to treat and attend to customers i believe is one of the major ways to grow a business really fast, this is because, customers are the best marketers, promoters of any business, the power to make a business really big, or to destroy the business is in their hands, this is why every business owner out there must treat their customers well..

As a business owner, if you like, advertise your business on the television and radio station, have your products pasted in every billboard in town, if every customers that have patronized you are not happy with your service or way of treatment, and will not come back to patronize you again, be rest assured that business will collapse in the long run, except something changes before then.

Now if I had to mention some more my personal ideas would be something like this-

The idea that cheaper would be better because people do not have too much money is a wrong approach. I would rather spend 3000 on a thing that lasts 3 years instead of 1000 on something that lasts 1 year. Why? Because that 1000 thing will become 1100 or 1200 or even 1500+ in my nation in a year, whereas when I buy it for 3000, and it goes for 3 years, that means I did actually pay 1000 per year for it. Like my phone, I spent 3000 lira for it 5 years ago, still durable, still doing fine, today, even after 5 years, I can sell it for 10000 lira, because inflation is disgusting here, what if I bought something worse and had to change it now? That is why nothing cheap is actually cheap, if you are poor, buy something premium that will last you much longer so you could spend a lot less overall.

I don't have a business, but treating me right while in their shop makes me come back later on. This was really similar to when I first built my PC. I was just going to buy parts, but because they made me an offer that was really good to me, I was able to build my first PC in their shop, and they thought so too. You could get it made for 20 cents and sell it for 20 bucks because there is no competition. If there is a competition, you may end up lowering as much as 50 cents or lower. This is why trying to find a place where you have no competition could actually work wonders for you.

Re-evaluating your product and services line on a regular basis should definitely be part of any successful business strategy. This sounds a little bit off but one of the best ways I know to increase profit in your business or in any business is to treat customers the way you want to be treated. Imagine walking into your business place as a customer, how would you want to be treated right from the car park? Most business thrive on referral and is only a customer or customers who have been treated with maximum respect that would leave happy and satisfied and come alone with a someone on their next shopping. but i do not agree with you, taking a loan is not bad as you said. in a business economy there is a fine that you have a loan. you need to make a proportional amount regarding asset - liability - equity. People should always have a customer friendly attitude  especially  if they have the future of the company  or business at heart and they should always know how to address their customers no matter angry they might be or the manner of approach of the customers.

Another thing us to always ensure a clean and safe environment  as this is one area we truly shouldn't  over look as cleanliness  of an environment  truly matters lt to me and it most times determines my patronage at that very enterprise.

Some business should also learn good and proper  customers serve and try to also study the mood and condition of their customers  and if you get a customer how must have walked a distance or under the sun, a chair first should be offered and possibly something chilled should be offered  at least to get their customers relieved of the stress.
(Just my opinion  and judging from my country's  side of  view. )

Honestly speaking, that phrase (customers are always right) sometimes has been used to abuse business owners, I don't think because customers are always right and you have to make sales or should I say profits it gives customers the infantry to speak ill to someone who's trying to make a living.
Sometimes in other to make profit I just feel both customers and business owners should try as much as possible to understand each other because without the customers the business won't grow and without the business owners there won't be any goods to sell so by understanding these "Customers are always right" won't get into the heads of the customers especially the rude ones. I just feel there should be another phrase that favors the business owner(s) too.

Personally, what always brings me back to any business is the way I’m received and treated. So I guess hiring the best staff that actually knows how best to engage with customers is really important.
The customer is king alright. But that doesn’t mean you should bend over to satisfy just any customer. There are some rude customers that aren’t worthy of respect and shouldn’t be treated as such.

One good way of increasing sales is to honestly advertise your products as well as letting people know where your business is located at. Rewarding your loyal customers is also a good way to go by giving out discounts and promotions that will further draw new customers but you should be careful as to not run at a loss giving out discounts.
You wouldn’t want to forget your first priority when going into business which is to make profits. Finally, you should always keep track of your business finances which entails keeping your bookkeeping precise and up to date.

Although this connotation is now less practiced because people have tried to just flow in the business they are running and the convenience of shopping bonuses is a substitute for now.

I don't know about the TV but Im sure social media influencers are not better than Google ads. Social media influencers only promote your business to their audience. Their audience may not necessarily be your target market. You have to take a lot of time to know which influencer has an audience that is also your target market. This is getting more difficult because few influencers focus on a particular market. These guys take any job that comes their way. Another disadvantage is they can influence products that are your competition. Then let's not talk about the fact that they are relatively expensive.

Google ads on the other hand are less expensive and also appear to more people. Plus, it goes straight to your target audience. For a business, whether it's an online or offline store, google advertising should be up on the list before social media influencers.

Looking at some of the answers, I also have some personal views related to business on the basis that I have also built a personal company. The first thing that I think is reshaping what the business is aiming for in what field, it always has different issues like competition as well as the potential to exploit that field. And then go to things like products, customers, operating methods, marketing, management, ... each a little bit but it all contributes to the entire development process of the company enterprise.

It is possible to make a product known to people very quickly through online advertising. So usually different business organizations choose different popular channels to highlight their products in front of people which channels are usually watched by people more. In this case sports based channels are given more priority for advertisement. When advertisements are broadcasted on sports oriented channels, people get to know about the full and slowly the market value of that product increases. This is how businessmen earn more profit by promoting their products.

From my experience as a business person, in buying and selling, I have discovered some helpful tips on how to increase profit. I an happy to share some in this forum.
Customer relation, a business person must understand that customer is king and should be treated like a royalty. Even it they are buying the least thing in your shop. When they leave your shop delighted, be assured that they will always come back to patronise you. And they will even market your products to their friends. Meaning more patronage for your business which will be increasing your profit.
Your business should have at least one season when you give out rewards and discounts to customers when they buy your products. This will increase your sales geometrically and when you remove the cost of the reward and discounts, you will still have increased profit.
Stock different brands of the products that you sell. Customers will prefer to enter a shop where they will see different varieties of what they need. More customers will enter and will even be tempted to buy more than they planned for. More customers equals more profit.

Some creative thinking needs to be employed to increase business profits. First, when hiring people in business, you need to hire smart people. People with good speech and good body should be recruited. At least two to three offer systems should be launched in a week. You need to organize a lottery among all the customers who will buy the product from you. YouTube channel should be posted on Facebook and various social media products. Always treat every customer politely so that customers are attracted to you. If the business can be done in this way then of course the profit can be increased by selling the products in the business.

To increase the profit is also to increase the number of assets don't limit yourself to just one source of income and stick on it with just keep yourself making savings because you are afraid to the business and investment, in life and reality the people who have the higher risk takers have the chance to win in life because they experience a lot of failures and capabilities to adopt and what to prevent, people getting rich they know how does the market move, how to adopt in environment, what peoples need and keep risk to invest. Yes and of course some people those downfalls of their business and failures they take it personally like they have in mind "maybe I'm not suitable to run a business" mindset. That's why taking a risk in a business is considered as a win-win situation where if you've success then good for you, but in the case that you've failed then you could learn from your mistakes and improve yourself. Find the reasons why you failed, learn more about running a business and attend some seminars even in the internet. But from me, I've also experienced that thought if I invest it might be gone for nothing, but it was changed when I took the risk. You could find more opportunity if you act than overthink that you will fail.

Competition is what we are going to face in business even though we add the first person to start thag kind of business. People might see that you are making good profits and they would want to join the trend so that they can make money too. Ability to define the goal of our business could make work easier for us and could bring over night success to it. Maintenance of high standard in business is what some persons are lacking, because people like to see quality in the service they are getting which is what would differentiate you from the rest because of the quality works you deliver.

There's no such thing as a perfect and successful business. We will come across trial and error period so we must be always prepared to conquer everything with grace. Competition, unsuccessful sales, and a lot more could be our business challenges so we should always be firm in seeking for strategies to grow our business.

Not always. There are some "toxic" customers and time-wasters who come to your shop without intention to buy anything. You will lose your time and efforts to sell but the deal is impossible as they were not even considering buying anything initially.

Sometimes this works against you too. If you sell items of one or few specific brands, you have your own loyal customers, easier to control stock, do accounting, buy items etc. This saves a vast amount of time and work. The more time and energy you have, the more you can achieve.

For business people in general, they must treat their customers in a very polite and courteous manner so that customers have an attraction with the services we provide for them. After all, whether a customer is serious or not when shopping is when he starts asking questions and tries to respond to the service we provide for him, so the main thing is to keep serving before we invite him to leave after knowing that he is just playing around to make trouble.

I think you have also implemented a very appropriate strategy in this regard because for small businesses it is better to provide more brands as choices for customers. Your opinion is correct but I think in this way a businessman have to spend lots of money for promotional expense. Local level may not require much money but whenever going to national level he has to spend extra money. If one is thinking of making a big organization then he must advertise on TV media along with other advertisements so that everyone will be able to understand his products  and at some point his business will expand. No business will ever succeed if not advertised. Because the need for familiarity is high in competitive business.

I think the number one thing in business is the trust of our clients. I'm sure they are the fields of the profits we get. if we waste their trust it is tantamount to destroying our business. we must be responsible for completing tasks from clint as best as possible to make him a subscriber in our business services. if I could suggest the main thing in business in my opinion is the trust of the client.
And customers will only trust our business if they are satisfied with our customer service. Other than that, if we are selling high quality products at its low and affordable prices, that will also let them stay on our side supporting our products. And with high incentives and good promotions existing in our business, surely they will find no reason to leave us and find their satisfaction in other people’s business.

Agree. Online advertising is one of the effective ways to make a product more widely known by the public. Moreover, if we advertise it on popular channels, people will give more attention. In this way, we may have a bigger chance to spend more on the products and we probably get more profits. However, it should require big money, so we have to analyze how big the potential profit in more detail. We may try to advertise it on an average channel first, don't hurry to advertise it on popular channels. We need to evaluate the response from the market (people's response). If it brings big impacts, we can decide to give more allocations for advertisement and we can try advertising on popular channels.  ;)

As a matter of fact, customer relation is another form of advertisement organisations do not really understand. It takes time to build but does not take much time to destroy. That is the situation organisations finds themselves when they fail to get a good customer care service. The way your customer service respond to customers determine how fast your business can grow. To every organisation, every little complaint from a customer is very important because it makes them amend of their minor errors and keep them abreast of time but when you decide to ignore the insignificant or minor complaint of a genuine customer, to them it means  you do not see them as anything and therefore their observations and inputs does not matter and that is final for them. Mate if that be the case, your organisation is doomed forever because they will stop every contact they have given to you from patronizing your services.

Yes that's how you will get more profit and money in business. At first when you are just starting it is very hard to create and build business that is unique and profitable for long run. I experienced it with myself it it hard, but when you used to it you can properly documented all of it and make sure to bookkeep all your assets and expenses so it will be easier for your to see if you are gaining a profit, and the next thing you can do is try to diversify it and try another business that will fit to your interest and will satisfy other people attention as well.

I have a philosophy that customer is king, and I treat them as such, and it has been increasing my sales over the years thereby increasing my profits too.

Obviously market expansion is done to grow your business and generally the maximization of your profits. But a small business that’s just starting up can’t just afford to expand. You can’t possibly expand when you’re small, struggling and yet to fully stand firm to compete fairly with other businesses out there.

Social media and influencers are also a way to increase sales but like I stated earlier, a small business just can’t afford any of that. A startup most likely won’t be able to afford to have on its payroll a brand ambassador as the business owner would probably still be trying to build the business and would need a whole lot of capital.

I am not a business person, but when acting as a customer. I am willing to spend more money to buy a more expensive product than another store as long as the service attitude of that store is good and after-sales services such as warranty or repair are more dedicated. And of course, recommending to others is something that I definitely will do.
Discounts or promotions will almost attract a lot of people because everyone wants to save money, but if the attitude is not enthusiastic and disrespectful to customers, the tricks to attract customers will not last long.

Sometimes customers spend money not only to buy products but also to be respected. Today, most of the products are not too different, but to retain customers, the style of service plays the most important role.

I am sure that first of all you need to provide high quality products if you are a manufacturer, in this case, if you have a wholesale. But if you are a retailer, then you absolutely need to maintain a high customer service and also ensure that the quality of the products is at a high level, because the best service will not help you if the customers will complain about poor quality. You can also think about increasing the range, and preferably high-margin products.

I agree with you. When the buyer comes to the store, the seller must serve him in a friendly manner and not be rude. That automatically makes the buyer feel comfortable and want to return to the store to buy. Discounts and gifts do have to exist for a moment, to attract the attention of buyers. Because in general people like something cheap and festive.

The price of merchandise also should not be too expensive. Better not too expensive but sold. Rather than expensive, it doesn't sell.

Well said OP but as we all know is always customers are always right, sometimes they're not right, they just take it upon himself as there right to get what they want. If we use those logic our business won't grow as we expected, firstly we have to set up a principal that would be fine for both we the business owners and the customers. Being more friendly with them {Customers} will make them come back with other customers to patronize the business owner.

Without proper planning or organization, making money can be very stressful and difficult than we think  with these I feel it can help out in shipping on more profit, these 4 key areas that can help drive profitability in a business;
1) Reducing costs
2) Increasing turnover
3) Increasing productivity and
4) Increasing efficiency.
You can also expand into new market sectors, or develop new products or services.

I am sure that first of all you need to provide high quality products if you are a manufacturer, in this case, if you have a wholesale. But if you are a retailer, then you absolutely need to maintain a high customer service and also ensure that the quality of the products is at a high level, because the best service will not help you if the customers will complain about poor quality. You can also think about increasing the range, and preferably high-margin products.

Product quality is not an issue for retailers because to sell, we need to sell popular products, have a variety of models, and most of the products will be the same in all stores. What customers care about is the competitive price and the services that the store provides. I agree with many of the comments here, customer service, as well as service attitude, will be the key to ensuring the store's revenue.

Another thing that I don't see people mention is that the store's location also plays a vital role in the business. Customer relation, a business person must understand that customer is king and should be treated like a royalty. Even it they are buying the least thing in your shop. When they leave your shop delighted, be assured that they will always come back to patronise you. And they will even market your products to their friends. Your business should have at least one season when you give out rewards and discounts to customers when they buy your products. This will increase your sales geometrically and when you remove the cost of the reward and discounts, you will still have increased profit.
Stock different brands of the products that you sell. Customers will prefer to enter a shop where they will different varieties of what they need. More customers will enter and will even be tempted to buy more than they planned for. More customers equals more profit.

Personally I store different qualities of products brands, so when a customer asks for a brand and cannot afford to pay for it, I'll show another brand that is within the range that the customer can afford. So in essence a retailer can sample high and low qualities of a particular type of product by different manufacturers, so that customers can decide on the quality that they want. Most times the choice of the product to buy depends on the purchasing power of the customer. But it is very important for the seller to be sincere and let the customer know the different qualities of the type of product that he wants to buy.

Lastly to maximize profit in business, the seller needs to stock more of the products that sells more. So far the customer is aware of the quality that he's buying.

True, in a business you really need marketing techniques to be able to optimize the promotion of goods or services owned by the company. This is one powerful way to increase a profit in sales. I myself am part of the marketing team of a company in the field of snacks, according to resets and experience, while I was working, public speaking and marketing techniques are number one when you want to increase sales. I always apply the three S  when I'm at work, namely Polite, Greet, and smile, and understanding customer needs and most of these methods have succeeded in making customers comfortable when in dialogue.

The phrase 'more customers equals more profit', is working for me in my business. But as you have  explained, it's maybe because i run a small business, however it works for me. I take note about what you said about your friend in transportation business, it sometimes happen that in the cause of increasing your business, instead of profit to increase costs will increase. Sometimes businesses like his needs long term planing before the profits starts to pour in, just like it happened in his case. But all things being equal, either in the short or long term, with proper planing, the more customers that patronise your business the more profits you make

There are few things you can do and it's universal in every field of Bussnies whether it's physical goods trade or digital trading. Just be consistent (Stick to your work). Remember it's not at all possible to play in profit always, but if you are sticking to it your Bussnies will not only recover your loss even though you'll make a decent profit from it and I am damn sure from that amount you'll be satisfied.

For example; Consider the Shiping Bussnies in the physical world, Ships (Water tankers, etc) are very expensive we all know but running them is even more costly as an average per if a Ship (Standard Cargo ship) is Running in Sea it cost around $25k to $35k each day and if Business is down and Ship is on Port or Dry dock it still cost you around  $70k to $120k each month and Ship owner bear this cost for months in Boom season they make $25k to $55k or even more per day. The ship for average I have taken is a Cargo Oil Tanker ship around 30M wide and 170+ meters long.

They make such good profits because they stick to their work and bear losses as well.

The main method of businessmen in their businesses is that they always give a discount to their cutomers, and sometimes they give a mega discount when their products have been in stock for a long time in their business or cannot be sold.

   Or it is also possible that they are having raffles for their customers who also have conditions to have a raffle ticket. If you look at it, it looks like the business is losing with their gimmick and their customers are winning, but the truth is they are still winning.

reducing the number of employees will actually worsen the situation, of course it will have an impact on production or service.
there are several other things that can be done to remain effective and also reduce the cost of paying employees, for example using robot power is quite effective in reducing production costs, currently technology has developed rapidly and there are many conveniences that can be profitable for companies.

The only way to make your product cheaper is by lowering the margin of business. This option would take High end management because playing with the low margins could take up good amount of revenue thus making it difficult for the business runner. However, there are businesses which would do this but they would just keep the fixed revenue. This way business is always at stagnancy and never reached to new limits of profitability. But obviously it’s hard to manage that way.

The other way is what you stated, just have the low quality products and close the business soon.

But how to increase sales and reduce production costs while ensuring quality?  this is something that any business will know even non-business people know about.  but if we notice, there are still many businesses that go bankrupt every day even though they also offer solutions like many are talking about here. it's easy to say but not easy to do. 
Running a business is not child's play, and simply reading a few books or looking for some online solutions can help our business grow.  if we want to improve our business, we need to know where it goes wrong and what to fix, people are giving solutions that are too generic and can be found on social media.

Customers really like discounts, but there are others abusing them, mostly coupons. Others are getting tons of coupons or exploiting their rules in coupons to get discounts, but overall, you can really save from them. I noticed this only happens when there are events and also if the food is near expiration, which is still a good deal and can make the business not lose money as it will be wasted if not sold.

I guess it's boils down to good customer service and then promotions and marketing as you have said. Yeah, you need to offer variety of items. For example if you are in the shoe business, then you should have at least full sizes of the shoes that you are selling.

So talk to your customer, get feedback so that you can improved. They are the life line of your business, so obviously, you have to treat them very well. I also have online store that born out of the pandemic, and if I may add about the negatives though, there are competitors out there that wanted your business to be destroy so just be careful on who you deal with as well, just saying. Because as much as you are customer centric and giving rewards and discounts, sooner or later they will give you bad feedback because the people that ordered from your is from your competitor.

If you are still relatively new to the business world or don't have a lot of capital in it, the ability to compete with other stores will be much more difficult because they can provide big discounts and hire influencer services to increase promotions. The strategy you use in running a business is very good and I believe it takes consistency to remain patient in dealing with the process and if you are able to pass it, it will end in victory as you feel now. Business people must also be observant in seeing opportunities, providing good service and ensuring the quality of the products we sell is also a strategy to entice buyers to continue visiting our store.

This strategy is good and simple to apply but in reality, the result maybe different. Reason is that you may relate very well with customers and they spread your market to their friends but if the need is not there, they will not come and the price is also another key to consider. The customer you sold am item to might be interested in what was sold to him and the other might not be interested in the price, they will want to make research about price in another location and if they found out that it's cheaper than the amount you sell, they wouldn't come to you and even the first customers you sell to wouldn't come back again.

Your logic can only work in a situation where you sell goods and services that has a uniform price, it wouldn't be a problem to get customers to come and buy, in this case using discounted price shouldn't be your next move but how to win them over like society interested, like relating to what they like, get to know them and if the customer is a public person, talking good side of their family isn't bad and also religious aspects if you share the same believe with them.

I know a lot of people and they don't have any of the features you mentioned, but they are very successful. Success does not always come with good human relations or communication. I myself do business and to increase income in business there are two events that I do, namely;

This is what makes many business people go out of business because they don't believe in the products they produce and the work they do and when they see other people's businesses in different fields and look more advanced, sometimes we are tempted to do the same business and leave the previous business. So this is where the need for confidence and consistency in the business that we do because who knows later our business will be more advanced than others because earlier that in doing business there are profits and losses and there are ups and downs, don't let a business that has previously developed you have started a new business. which in the end you will not be profitable but even losers

Second, evaluating the products produced and the business undertaken. Here it does not mean that I am not sure about the products produced or the business that is being done, but by evaluating the business that is being carried out, this will make it easier for us to find out why our business is not growing? Is the effort that is being carried out not optimal? or those who sell why our products are not selling well in the market,? whether the product that I produce is not feasible.?. we do know that there are lots of competitors out there.If you do find yourself not taking any step forwards when it comes to expansion or upgrading or possible add up then its considerable act that should be done if you do really like some progress. Its not an assurance though because there's no such thing about assurance about being profitable in business.

Customer relation, a business person must understand that customer is king and should be treated like a royalty. Even it they are buying the least thing in your shop. When they leave your shop delighted, be assured that they will always come back to patronise you. And they will even market your products to their friends. Meaning more patronage for your business which will be increasing your profit.
Your business should have at least one season when you give out rewards and discounts to customers when they buy your products. This will increase your sales geometrically and when you remove the cost of the reward and discounts, you will still have increased profit.
Stock different brands of the products that you sell. Customers will prefer to enter a shop where they will see different varieties of what they need. More customers will enter and will even be tempted to buy more than they planned for. More customers equals more profit.

Selling your product at a cheaper price compare to others can be a good way to go. Mama Seun sell her rice #140 per cup but you sell yours at #135 per cup. The profit may be low but bet me the turn over will be high. Some customers can go miles just because of that #5. Before you know it you will be making even more than twice of what Mama Seun is making due to your high turn over.

I graduated college with a degree in Business Management, so this topic is right up my alley.  Now I agree with some of these things, and think you've got some solid suggestions here, but what's sort of missing is the fact that not all of these suggestions are good suggestions for every type of business. It really entirely depends on what type of business is being ran, the current location and it's closest competition etc etc.

I think so too. More customers equal more profits. One thing that is interesting in my opinion is that technological developments are now changing everything. Including business. But I've noticed sometimes that there are merchants or stores that are the same price, like they've already talked about it, and still you're forced to buy at those prices if you're really a good businessman and want to gain more customers. The lesser the price, the better, and much more if you know how to talk with your customer because no matter how cheap your price is, if you are strict and always have a high voice, for sure your customer won't come back.
