Title: An Error Has Occurred! Error #1713576446
Post by: stompix on July 30, 2023, 01:43:54 PM
The title describes the problem pretty much!

I've never encountered it or any other number like this, I wasn't clicking like mad as I'm still using a tablet right now so I probably have way more time between actions than my normal usage but still while giving away merit this thing appeared.

Made a screenshot of it, although...wow, much extra information,

Can't find the code searching with ninjastic, not finding anything related, so out of pure curiosity, what happened?

I guess I saw similar error in the recent day but did not think to take it seriously because after few refresh it loaded the page I was in. But I am sure if that was the same error so don't take my words as guaranteed.

I've never encountered it or any other number like this,
AFAIK, It is an internal error, so the number provided does not reflect the nature of the error, but rather the location of the error. Has your session time expired, meaning that you did not click on the link for a long time? Was the problem resolved after several refreshes of the link?

Since no one else reported this error, it is related to your browser, so deleting cookies and checking the session time will solve the problem.

while giving away merit this thing appeared.
I've seen "An Error Has Occurred" many times while Meriting many posts. I don't remember any error number, but just click back, and it works again.

One possible explanation for the error is that it occurred due to a race condition. A race condition is a situation where two or more threads are trying to access the same data at the same time. In your case, it is possible that two or more threads were trying to give away merit at the same time, and this caused the error.

I was way too lazy in describing the error

Since I was on a tablet I found it far easier to just open all tabs to send merit then type 1 and send, after 7 or 8 merits sent this error appeared, I closed it down and continued to the next and all went ok. Of course, I opened the page that got the error again and it all went smoothly.
Now that I look at the time, I am quite surprised I was doing it that fast on a 10" touchscreen with 3 seconds between actions, I was quite sure I had way more than 5 seconds between taps so that's probably the cause.

I kind of guessed people who merit far more often than me would have encountered it a few times but I was curious why I never saw the issue discussed, maybe I just missed the topic.

Anyhow, it has something to do with merits and it just fixes itself, I don't think I've found a vulnerability to exploit the merit system  ::) so unless proven wrong I guess I'll lock the topic in 12 hours or so.

This error number is the code for the text that should appear when the error appears.
Perhaps it is such a rare error that it has never been described, although it can occur.

Or else, it has no meaning and is just a "joke" message in some attempt to trick the merit system. :P

I have never encountered any such errors till this day other than the errors that the whole community faced due to that cloud flare's issue. I think the ones who give merits very often can have such errors because users like me with limited sendable merits won't face such errors. Although, I try my best to send all my sendable merits as soon as I find good posts, but still I think such error can occur only for those who have a lot of merits to send.

This morning I got an error like you have been blocked or similar. I did not take any screenshots of the error because it seems either there was some issue with my ISP or there was an error from my browser. This happened when I was writing a reply to a post on a thread. After the refresh, it was okay but my text vanished. I did not bother to write it again.

Was that a Cloudflare message? If so: Cloudflare blocks certain keywords, chances are you wrote something it didn't like. When that happens, try to isolate the word/code that triggers it, and report it to theymos. See theymos' post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4572498.msg41231121#msg41231121).

Just when you think you will probably not hear anything new related to (non-Cloudflare) errors, this one comes along. I have never seen this type of error before. Maybe theymos will confirm if this is specifically related to tabs in merit pages or if can be replicated elsewhere.
