Title: The comment layout here is actually pretty unique and should be preserved
Post by: tread93 on September 16, 2023, 01:06:18 PM
After reading the responses to my last post in this section I realize that there is merit to the current order of things here.

Keeping it OG is very important, while other changes suggested by others could perhaps seem necessary my recent suggestion is far from one that should ever be implemented. I realized how ridiculous I sounded after I went back and read what I wrote.

One thing I realized after the fact is that the current comment layout helps to foster cumulative responses taking eveything said into account. If you want to keep up with this platform you have to be invested and sort through all of the commentary, this is something that is unique and also makes things more fun.

Posts that pop up like social media with an algorithm are engineered as such exactly to monetize, the organic posting nature of this forum is so unique it would be a shame and probably cause people to leave because nobody likes change.

I think many of us have no understanding what you wrote back and what realization you are talking about. Do you have some links to provide for reading?

I wonder then why this reply of yours is not in that thread, but you opened a new one? After so much time on the forum, you still act like a beginner who doesn't know what thread spamming is...

You do not need a new thread to correct the position you had in a different thread.

It's much neater to make your reply there and if you are unsure if other users will read your reply since it's further down the page, you edit the original post so it can easily be read.

The best thing that you can do right now is to lock this thread because this thread is not necessary at all.

What you supposed to have done is to post the OP of this thread on that old thread and let it just be like that. Why did you create another thread about it? Becuase you supposed not to create a topic about it.

I think you should locked this thread and continue with the previous instead of creating this again, I believe any discussion going on here can also be addressed over there so it's better not to make too much topics over a post that can be handled in the previous topics. I think it could be more lively over there than here because you could see more suggestions and contributions over there.

Well if he locked the other thread and refer us to this thread I would think that is good.

Also all of us Og's should be happy we changed his mind.

I often refer people in his original mind set to an old movie

"wild in the streets"

the main idea of the movie is planned obsolescence.

the slogan they used was "don't trust anyone over 30"

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063808/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_in_the_Streets

maybe we kept him out of that rabbit hole.

I am happy that you made this decision. I also read your last post but was unable to respond to it due to some reasons. But I have the same thoughts and opinions about this forum that you learned from that topic. This forum is full of unique content. People share valuable comments and make valuable posts too.

Which are not very easy to read on a smartphone but can easily be read on a laptop or PC. I hope some day an app will be made for this forum so we can easily use it on our mobile devices. But until then, I think we have to use it on our smartphones. I only use it on my smartphone for some reasons. And I think now I am used to it.

And you are right about pop-up posts like those on social media, which are algorithmic just to show you things that you like the most. But this platform is not a social media platform. In addition, it is a discussion forum, so things must be different here than they are on social media.

You're right idk what I was thinking I should have just updated it. After some thought I had to make amends to my not so well thought out post immediately but should have just stuck to the OP, I'm locking this thread and quoting it in an edit in the OP. Thanks
