Title: Bitcoin Logo .... a hologram made with Blender
Post by: pooya87 on November 23, 2023, 08:12:35 AM
I've been learning 3D modeling and animation using this awesome open source tool called Blender (https://www.blender.org/). Of course being a Bitcoiner means I have to dedicate one of my early projects to Bitcoin. 8)
So here is a hologram of the Bitcoin Logo.

Nice merit farming tactics you have! 😉
How long did it take to make this?

Nice job, especially for the beginner!
Now make an NFT from it, that would be hilarious.

Yeah, I needed to rank up to supernoob :D

I'm still a beginner so about 3 afternoons of modeling, most of it spent on messing around with settings trying to get this setup to work with complex models with many parts and failing.
And 2 hours of rendering 420 frames (7 sec, 60 fps).

Indeed, you are still practicing, and with a lot of time on it, you will be able to create more reality art with it. Blender is among the greatest graphics tools.

Nice merit farming tactics you have! 😉
How long did it take to make this?

If it was for an account like mine, this could have been plus-able and agreeable by many, as they might be convinced I am looking for means to earn merit, but for the OP with such merit, what else does he/she need to farm merit for?

Nice work!
But the first circle that introduced  the bitcoin logo need a remesh or node is not too sharp to look real.

Once again nice work fam
I'm still learning too

I have tried Blender and I am telling you that you that it is already one hell of a project there, I have used it and I do not have the patience to do the sculpting and shaping of the 3D models and at that time I do not have a really good computer so that added to my frustration since Blender needs a lot of computer space to be able to run smoothly. It is difficult to believe that you are a beginner to Blender so if you really are a beginner, I hope you take that as a compliment.

The projected ray looks stronger than the projected image

Okay animation is harder than I thought
Would reduce my criticism on poor looking animation ;D.
Kudos!!! On your work
I barely know more than the primary colors
So always judge my arts based on aesthetics :)
Really biased towards the color blue.

That would be better to look at than plain old texts

The logo is fine and am ok with seing this from your crafty skills to make your own bitcoin designed logo, just like play, it could turn to be an amazing NFT others can see after and make demands for, I've been seeing many bitcoin logo designs in the past but this one looks more of being captured with an ideal capture in its design.

do you have specific goal by learning Blender (for example, visualizing TX/data on Bitcoin block)?
Yes but my goals are not Bitcoin related. I plan on making animations and hopefully some day visual effects.
Usually whenever I learn these new skills I apply them to things that I'm passionate about, so it is possible I'd make more Bitcoin related stuff in the future.

If you use VPN or Tor, you might get warning about exceeding transfer quota which force you to wait or upgrade to paid account. In future, you might want to use different platform to share your video.
Any suggestions?

I don't think that you are a beginner to Blender so if you really are a beginner, I hope you take that as a compliment.
Thanks. Of course Youtube helps a lot to be a beginner but not look it ::)

Really biased towards the color blue.
Blue works so much better for holograms (and is more futuristic!) but Bitcoin logos are generally orange so I went with that...

I believe he is talking about the sound effects I used. It's about a decibel loud.

Great job and results. I will try to learn to make it. Who knows, I might be able to share the results on other platforms.
The video is too short. I thought the video showed how to do it, but it turns out it only shows the results.
By the way, good job pooya87.

The 7 second animation looks great. I have a question for you  though, is it possible to convert that animation to a gif? If that is possible then you can submit it on platforms like GIPHY for others to use. I really liked it and that is why I am suggesting this idea to you. Most chat messengers use it for gif images, others would be able to use your creation.

I bet, he uses Tor or at least paid VPN. I didn't have any problem though. By the way, that's only 1.3 MB, I have no idea how can someone exceed transfer quota.

I have no specific suggestion since most platform which let you upload and share video or GIF doesn't block Tor or VPN.

With Tor or some VPN, the IP address is shared where someone else might used all free transfer quota for that IP address. I had to switch Tor relay few times before i can watch the video.

Nice work, as I scroll up and down I am amazed because the image looks moving as well and increasing a bit of its width.
Also, thanks for introducing that software. Looks like it's an interesting one to learn with these images and 3d modelling. I know that the mega link you provided is safe but I have no idea why it feels like that I'm scared of clicking it probably because I was stupid before when many files I've clicked before contained something.

Wow it's looks so incredible. You must be a genius, this looks pretty much like allien technology in the Hollywood lolz ;D. You really did a nice job. Effort like this needs to be appreciated because it requires time, effort, dedication, sleepless nights and resilience to achieve it.

To others you seams to be learning and needs inprovement, but to me who is a novice I see it as an excellent job though.

That looks like something to be made with Photoshop. In any case with my newbish skills I can only throw something like the following together :D

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2023/11/23/FOwKw.jpeg (https://www.talkimg.com/image/FOwKw)

Here is tiny video rendered (75 frames, 25 fps):
https://mega.nz/file/579jRC5A#zPyW8pQpxu9LnbuKUmAz4WQ1xN9OwUz1tQ10GCO4b-g
I made it with a lot of "fakery", fake moon, fake stars and fake light beam.
The funniest thing is that I have no idea why the world light flickers when I move the clouds; so I added a thunder sound to match the "bug" and look like it is intentional ;D

Hopefully I get better at it with time...

I think the forum still serves as an incentive to do things related to bitcoin. We  can share our  bitcoin related projects here, and people, most of the time, give us great encouragement.

Maybe in the future you can even use those visual effects in bitcoin related services.

Keep up the good work. It is always amazing to learn new techniques.

You are doing very good, I am impressed with your video!

My initial impression is that I like it, unfortunately I am on mobile so I cannot view the animation properly. [and had some SNAFU with the telecom bills this morning so yeah  :P]

Too bad the forum doesn't have a built-in "animation" bbcode tag.

It looks great as a newbie of Blender because I also gave some time to Blender a long time ago but never went this far that I would make any animation like this, the video I watched is of making a donut and in that tutorial, I learned to create spheres, and coloring, shadowing, etc. But as far as I remember I think I was not into Crypto at that time. Maybe that period was from 2019 to 2020.

Anyway, this first project looks amazing you can add more to it with time like fast animation effects like most of the TikTok videos are using

Love this one. I've tried blender last year cause I want to make a career out of 3d modeling and animation and goddamn was it so hard to master. So it's quite enthralling to see people who are so good at that application doing god's work in it too. Amazing work Pooya!

Nice merit farming tactics you have! 😉
How long did it take to make this?
dunno if this is sarcasm meant to troll people in this forum but to call Pooya a merit farmer literally incited anger within me. Like the hell, the dude is 100 merits away from 10k merits, calling him a merit farmer is a massive transgression lol. Anywho, pretty sure you two go from way back and he merited your post so I suppose this is just nothing but poking fun at something.

Remember that everything starts somewhere. Oh, it is your constant attraction and hard work that makes you successful. In the beginning there are bound to be some mistakes. But constant practice of this work makes you successful. And even you reach its peak. And create masterpieces۔ So I hope you will continue your effort till achieving peak.

Anyways, I think you’re a fast learner. I know learning is always about dedication and focus however, it’s not always easy. 3 afternoons sound like a lot so I’m guessing you’re pretty new to it. When you say you’re a beginner, how long exactly have you been learning and is this your first try on models like this?

Although I started learning a couple of months ago but I don't do it consistently because of my lack of free time. This is basically my third project, first being the famous pink donut.

Awesome hologram, I am not good with technology and computer visuals so I am always in awe when it comes to this kind of stuff especially 3D models and CGIs. Would be awesome if you can do something in the future where this hologram looks like the Bat Signal, you just need a hero design that looks like Batman to heed the call of the Bitcoin signal.

The passion people have towards the blockchain and crypto space has evolved their life and even turned them the way of their passion without knowing it was what they were meant to be. Imagine settling for something lesser because of an infrastructure that is yet to be birthed.

Why not combine business with pleasure? :)

A person masters a new instrument / tool, learns new things, and this is commendable. Remaining faithful to the forum and bitcoin, he could not help but try to make a BTC-logo, which he ultimately shared here. This is better than begging for merit, because OP takes an active position and acts.

Having new skills opens up new opportunities. Keep it up, pooya87.

Blender is 100% free.
They just have an optional "donation" option which they call membership with different tiers. AFAIK all it does is show your name in a list in their funds page (https://fund.blender.org/), if you choose a higher tier you can include a link and a logo like the Adobe, Meta, etc that have apparently made donations already.
