Title: 'The Bitcoin History Book' in Progress (RELEASE: September 2024)
Post by: Tyke on November 24, 2023, 09:33:34 PM

For those who don't know me, I work as a warehouse operative (working class person). I don't aspire to succeed much as an employee, but rather strive to be creative as an individual person. The Bitcoin history book is what I devote significant amounts of time to, aiming to create something special for the community (completed book will be on Amazon in SEPTEMBER 2024!!!).  It is the main avenue through which I am exercising my intelligence and diligence.

I know most people in the community would rather hodl their crypto wealth, but isn't it wise to support community effort. All I seek is donations to aid my effort to create a detailed BTC history book. Please show generosity I once knew the community was renowned for in the early years. I look forward to your messages and feedback. I won't give up the task.

As promised, here is the PDF document showing chapters 2008/09 to 2016 (still have the summary pages to complete):

Please leave comments, feedback and suggestions for improvement in this thread.  The current thread for the book is:

UPDATE: 18/04/2024

Great news!

I'm still making constructive progress.  Currently I'm completing chapter 2019, which I hope will be finished within the next week.

The screenshots are thumbnails of pages 178 to 214 covering January 2017 to March 2019:

Please support the book if you can.  There is only myself who has spent over one year writing it.

P.S. If you donate at least US$10, you will have your name/alias listed in the book!

UPDATE 01/04/2024:

I will strive to finish the chapters for 2017 to 30th June 2024 (nearly 50% complete) by this summer.  Please show generosity and donate to help me complete the Bitcoin History 2008-2024 book by 12th September 2024:

$XRP r9LbXGJ9HCdwvAhKWJJLihSd8612xHybv7

With sufficient help, I know the book will be completed by September 2024.  Thank you in advance for your support and feedback.

UPDATE 03/03/2024:

Nearly completed Bitcoin history book chapters documenting 2018 & 2019 milestones:

https://i.ibb.co/GTmy629/03032024chapter10and11.jpg (https://ibb.co/FVp2rwX)

UPDATE 07/02/2024:

I've completed history chapters covering 2008 to 2017 (pages 44 to 187 - 144 pages).

2017 Chapter:

https://i.ibb.co/3zhDRZd/06022024chapter09.png (https://imgbb.com/)

I will complete 2018 and 2019 before the end of February 2024.

Who is still interested?

UPDATE 07/01/2024:

There is an opportunity for 10 people to have their own personal page in the book!

For 0.01 BTC, on a first come first serve basis, one person is allowed to purchase just one page.  I invite you to write about your journey with Bitcoin (your participation, best memories, successes, failures etc.). Feel free to include photos.

I have opened the book up for these 10 pages to gain community insights and experience.

If interested, please contact me. The price has been set relatively high to deter too many entries.

UPDATE 26/12/2023:

As a way to help me complete 'The Bitcoin History Book 2008-2024' by September 2024, I seek community support.

If you you would like your full name (or alias) in the book (will be listed on page 6 onwards), please private message me your name and donate at least $5 (crypto equivalent) towards my efforts.  Donation addresses are in the OP. Thank you in advance.

P.S. With sufficient support, I am the type of person who knuckles down and is totally determined.  Please trust me!

UPDATE 04/12/2023:

First of all, thank you to all those who have commented on this thread including useful feedback.  It is motivating and helps me to assess progress.  I have nearly completed the first draft of 8 chapters covering 2008-2016 (see draft preview, some pages removed) immediately below.  The Bitcoin yearly history chapters begin on page 44 after introductory and other BTC related

To be honest, I am slightly baffled about the lack of generosity from the community.  Countless time and energy has been put into it so far, and I am determined to write draft pages for 2017-end June 2024 next year.  I'm far from a greedy person (live in a small terrace house with terrible heating and an abomination of a garden) who continuously loves to learn and work hard.  Moreover, I turn down overtime at work in favour of writing this book.  If you can, please donate:

$DOGE DRj7PWEz5zxHc5ptkTBapKjCrxQU75CB6q

$XRP r9LbXGJ9HCdwvAhKWJJLihSd8612xHybv7

With sufficient help, I know the book will be completed by September 2024.  Thank you in advance for your support and feedback.

For one year, I've been researching and writing about the full 2008-2024 Bitcoin history.  I plan to self-publish a 300 A4 page book (colour interior) on Amazon by September 2024.  It will cover all major Bitcoin milestones from inception of the blockchain to the end of June 2024.  I've spent countless hours collating and presenting relevant history by writing 16 page yearly chapters. Below is a link showing a preview of what has already been put together:

(history chapters begin on page 44)

Besides the above, a preliminary front cover for the book as been designed:

If you like (or impressed by) the progress made so far, please comment below by leaving constructive feedback.  I've been part of the Bitcoin/crypto community for over 10 years.  Distributed ledger technology has never left my radar since I discovered Bitcoin back in March 2013.  The Bitcoin History Book 2008-2024 will be my contribution to legacy, as well as newbie, members of the community.

Please contact me if you would like to support the book via donations, sponsorships or otherwise.  I will continue to strive towards completing the book by September 2024.

Thank you for reading (don't forget to click on the Google Drive link in order to read the current book interior).  It is a draft at the moment!

I will start by congratulating you on the success you have achieved in putting this material together. I know what it takes to work on things of this nature when it comes to academics or something that involves research, the compilation of different materials, and writing to achieve the goal of publishing a book. I must say that you have gone a long way in putting things together for the sake of the bitcoin community, especially the newbies to having a material of this nature. As you have said, this would be a very good legacy you have left here, and the community would forever be happy about what you have done. This book would serve as enlightenment material which would educate bitcoin enthusiasts more about bitcoin and its inception, the founders, and how they began the bitcoin journey into the world. It is remarkable that a book of this nature has finally emerged.
Congratulations once more.

Much appreciated :)

I have moments when I think how I've managed to put it together.  It won't cover everything related to Bitcoin, but I like to think the major milestones are included.

I will say congratulations on your project. When I see things of this nature that promotes the community I usually have his joy in me that people are really not just here for some pay or something else but to make remarkable things, just as I wish to do some day.

I haven't had enough time to read through your research compilation but will surely do, and I will also make a review of it if possible to help you find faults that needs to be fixed before publication.

A new development of this nature surely needs to be more appreciated but I believe it will come when your finally done with it.
Once again congratulations Tyke.

Seeing these kind of news here is intriguing for the reason that Bitcoin is rapidly advancing and we are also experiencing direct impact from our senior fellows on this forum. I seriously commend your effort OP to author this Bitcoin book at this great time of need. I feel this reverence to meet you here and also see your efforts made. I will definitely be reading this from page to page until the end.

Before one can put out such books, one must have had that strong knowledge and experience in Bitcoin. You're already a legendary here and you have shown thst legendary act by taking this bold step to impact on us. I am sure a beneficiary of this great knowledge and invite my colleagues to enjoy this book too. Viola!

Thank you for pointing out that I am contributing greatly to Bitcoin. It would be encouraging to see more support in terms of donations, because it is taking countless hours, resources and energy to drive the book towards the finish line. If anyone in the community can help, please donate by first messaging me here. Your name will be included in the book.

On a personal note, there are times when I feel lethargic and fed up. Despite that, I keep finding the motivation to persist. Please support me if you can as I do my best to create something great.

I appreciate all praise from the Bitcoin community.

THE BITCOIN HISTORY BOOK 2008-2024

For one year, I've been researching and writing about the full 2008-2024 Bitcoin history.

What a great performance, writing a book is not what is that easy not to talk of writing on bitcoin, this is a great achievement you have earned for yourself, it will be a guide in helping the newbies to understand the history of bitcoin and have time to study both online and for the benefit of those who love reading the hard cover books, they can have it archived in their homes for reference, this will indeed be an impressive discovery for those that wanted to learn about bitcoin and it's history but prefer going through a reading material for their learning, congratulations.

Unfortunately I can not access the Google Drive because I am not using Java Script.  I do want to thank you for striving to do good for our Bitcoin Community.

Is the book cover close to the final version or is there much more to work on before a final version is unveiled?  If you do not mind criticism.  Would you mind a more minimalistic approach to the cover design?  I believe that would be more attractive and trendy today.  They do say do not judge a book by its cover, but many of us pull books out of the shelves in a store BASED on the cover we see.

We have some extremely good talent on Bitcoin Talk.  Shower thought.  What if you made a Bitcoin Talk cover design competition?  Winner gets their design to be the official book cover and a free signed copy of the book?  You would receive much more interaction from the community!

How about a limited edition print sold on the Collectibles board.  Some of our members would be happy to pay a bit of a premium for that.

I'm happy that there's someone from this community who is working on such a book. I like the cover and wish the author success.
I'm not a designer, so perhaps I'm very wrong on this point, but it feels a little overly bright to me. There's lots of bright orange, and then there's white text on orange background, black text on white, white text on black. Black text on different shades of gray etc.
I also think that, for a book like this, you should hire an academic editor (someone with great expertise on Bitcoin and its history) to proofread the text for potential mistakes, even if you're quite an expert on it yourself because it's important to get everything right, and a fresh pair of trained eyes could be very helpful with that.

Your initiative is amazing. This is definitely a labor of love for Bitcoin. I truly hope that this book will serve as an informative and enlightening guide for those interested in learning more about Bitcoin, its history, and its impact on the world. It will provide important information and guidance on how to navigate the world of Bitcoin. I think it's inspiring to simplify complex concepts and terminology to make Bitcoin more accessible for newcomers to understand. The community will certainly benefit from your efforts and I look forward to seeing its positive impact. I hope this book will be valuable  for years to come. Keep up the great work!

I will give the book cover more food for thought next year, because I am overwhelmed this side of the year.  I may let the community help with the cover via a competition, so thank you for the suggestion.

As I have reiterated before, I seek sponsors or donors to drive the book forward.  There is much more to do (yearly 2017-2024 chapters - 8 chapters) before release in September 2024.

The information in the book has been sourced from official sources.  I have diligently checked and cross referenced sources.

That is one of the major reasons why I would highly appreciate community members to support via donations.  On a personal note, I sacrifice offered extra hours at my job so I have extra time and energy to put the book together. I have loved Bitcoin (and the wider crypto space) for over 10 years.

Historical books are very important because they serve as a bridge between past, present and future generations. Sadly history is not seen as an important field anymore because the present generation is more concerned with entertainment and sports. However, they fail to understand that the past shapes the present and the present determines the future. Historical books always have some important moral lesson that will help shape the lives of every reader.

I want to congratulate you for investing your precious time in putting up this important historical book about the development of one of the greatest discoveries of all time. I know this is not an easy task, but I want to encourage you to continue and finish this project. The current and future generations will find this book helpful because it will be both educational and motivational. I will also suggest that you consider having an audiobook version of this book when the project is completed.

I hope that you get all the support and encouragement you need. Good luck.

Thank you to all those who have commented and donated so far. I am fully determined to complete the book by September 2024.

“The Past Milestones”, the index is just amazing and it’s making me read the book already. This is definitely going to be detailed book considering the index titles from domain registration to how it started with email communications, yeah that gives me good insight about this book and what is expected from it. I think we are going to have very nice book soon just because of one active and enthusiastic member.

I just wanna say, keep it up. I will contact you regarding donation after few days once I get my salaries rolled over by my employer. Being Bitcoin lover I would be more than happy to donate small share for your good work. All the very best mate. Hope to see your copy released real soon.  :)

OP, I appreciate your endless effort and zeal to write this book as I have read in your other thread when you started writing the book, and I am pleased that you are making progress on this project, because it shows how much you love bitcoin and you have also dedicate your time to teach people about bitcoin through your book.

I hope to see you complete the book on the right time that you said, and I hope that you will get more donations from forum members. I admire your passion on this.

It will be released next September 2024, unless I come down with something terrible.  I have learnt more about Bitcoin whilst putting the book together :D

THE BITCOIN HISTORY BOOK 2008-2024
Well, first I congratulate you for doing such great work that will support many Bitcoin users. I saw the book that you have uploaded on your X account and read some part of it and what I decided is that you did wonderful work not only by writing it too well but also thby e interior when I saw was very attractive and good looking which give an additional and handsome look to your book. Through this book, I think many people who only know about Bitcoin invention in 2009 and after that,  will know about the history of Bitcoin how the idea of Bitcoin comes, and how it is made. Hope this book will bring some revolution in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Lastly I again appreciate your work and hope to grab what you want as support

Thank you for your gracious praise. Me and my partner have had a short argument about money/finances after i got home from work. I am the type of person who works hard, but sometimes my motivation wanes if i try too hard.  I hope the community gets behind my efforts so a brilliant book can be released next year.

I look forward to hearing more praise and feedback.

I remember your previous threads and mentions of the Bitcoin book you are working on. I am glad it's progressing nicely and is on route to hit the shelves in less then a year. A book with A4 dimensions is quite bulky to hold in your hands. Does it have a lot of images and graphics that warrants such a big size? Perhaps a smaller one wouldn't be a bad idea. Anyway, good luck with the project and hopefully it will be a success.

The book dimensions allow for more information on each page, plus the side bars. It was decided to shift all future cryoto history books to A4 3 years ago. The DigiByte histiry book is A4 size.

Who likes the A4 page format?

Is it just me or is formatting broken?

If you haven't considered the block size wars (which is a big part of Bitcoin's history), I suggest you have a read of "The Blocksize War: The battle over who controls Bitcoin’s protocol rules (https://www.amazon.com/Blocksize-War-controls-Bitcoins-protocol/dp/B08YQMC2WM)". It mentions quite a few notable points in summary.

I would be nice the read the mentioned book, but I don't have the spare money for it.  I live a basic life within which I do my best.  I don't want to dive into the block wars too much in 'The Bitcoin History Book 2008-2024', but it will get sufficient coverage.

The formatting is temporarily broken because I regularly attached URL links and comments to the page sides (MS Publisher!). It is a draft document after all ;)

Am very certain such a book will cover the previous halving and the experience of those who had investment therein when it happened up until the halving of 2024, explained with details and statistics of events.
It's a very nice concept and it shows dedication to duty on the front of cryptocurrencies where everyone seems to hide and under the guise of playing it safe.

All 4 halvings, including the upcoming one, will be covered in the book. Hope you support or donate to my onging effort. Thank you for replying.

I vividly remember you, it was way back in February this year I saw your post.

I'm earnestly want to get a copy of your book. Hopefully get a hand on loads of stuff I omitted while trying to understand the tech better.

Bitcoin has remained the most laudible innovation in the techological space for decades and deserves to be adorned in writing. I strongly believe that the whitepaper isn't all there should be about Bitcoin.

We can have some more content to guide and guard people on it. Only an indeth knowledge on it can advise one on how to navigate.

For of all, thank you to all those who have commented on this thread including useful feedback.  It is motivating and helps me to assess progress.  I have nearly completed the first draft of 8 chapters covering 2008-2016 (see draft preview, some pages removed) immediately below.  The Bitcoin yearly history chapters begin on page 44 after introductory and other BTC related pages.

With sufficient help, I know the book will be completed by September 2024.  Thank you in advance for your support and feedback.

this is a good thing because sometimes people lose interest when they encounter too many jargons and I personally have experienced that because I couldn’t understand anything, I eventually dropped the book i was reading about crypto and deemed it boring so i’m hoping that this book encourages more beginners to leap into the world of crypto

I'ved tried my best to cover as many major BTC milestones as possible.  Furthermore, the book presents BTC price history very well.  It points out when BTC surpassed $0.10, $1, $10, $100, $1,000, $10,000 etc.

It's very nice. Here's my 50 merit.

Any idea where you're going to publish it on? Or maybe there's going to be a pre-order of this that you can order with crypto, right?

In any case, I think this will be a very successful venture when this is done, as there are probably thousands of people who are interested in reading such a book - even if they don't own any crypto themselves.

The aim is to self-publish it (paperback, hardcover, ebook) in September 2024. I haven't given pre-orders much thought as it is just me working on it (i have many other life responsibilities). I seek sponsors and dinations to help make the target publication date more of a reality.

There is roughly half the book left to do. If you, and others in the Bitcoin community, want it to be a success, please generously help. It is Christmas after all.

I'll try to nap (sleep) for a while, because I feel exhausted.

Much appreciated so98nn.  Bitcoin is nothing without its community.

Hey Tyke,

As promised I am making my first donation today at any time. I will update this post once I send the funds. I am already seeing your efforts taking shape so far and putting my trust that we will have great copies handed out soon. :)

I will be making TWO donations initially. I am willing to send one of them Today while the other one I will send by first week of January.

I don't care if it feels or looks like futile attempt or something that is quite beneficial, I do not care about the results and how much OP makes or how much it spreads and all that. I care that someone out there wanted to do something like this, and that's a good thing, it's a thing that benefits the whole crypto world and we should be considering that as good, it's a good thing and it should be important.

I remember that there were few books that got some attention, I mean there are A LOT of books in bitcoin world regarding crypto but a few of them got super high attention, and yet I still think that they do get old with time, so we should be careful what we write, and OP has done a wonderful job regarding that issue.

But, It's understandable - these things take time and effort to do well.  Wishing you the best moving forward with finishing up the book.  I know it's a tedious process, but I hope enough folks end up interested in reading it to make all your hard work worthwhile down the road.  You seem passionate about the project, so I'm rooting for you and looking forward to whenever the final version does come out.

This is a massive project, actually a massive undertaking to make such a book. I have skimmed
through the work done already and yup there has been a lot of hard work put in already.

What I like about this is that it will be a go to book for further research by others in the future
and coming from an artistic point of view this book will should certainly help Bitcoin artists as
a "source book" for new Art themes.

By the way, I noticed that you've been posting the same content multiple times in a row and then deleting the previous ones.  Why do you do that? This has resulted in multiple notifications for the same message, which is a bit annoying.

For those who don't know me, I work as a warehouse operative (working class person). I don't aspire to succeed much as an employee, but rather strive to be creative as an individual person. The Bitcoin history book is what I devote significant amounts of time to, aiming to create something special for the community.

I really appreciate the initiative as well. Correct me if i'm wrong, he is the first person to introduced this one, this is an authentic idea from him and we all need to show support not only by donating money but also pursuing him to push this through. For the OP, there are lots of genius people here that could add some pieces of information for this project. Make sure it'll be known by money people, and we would like to see people recognizing our forum.

I may have heard about bitcoin books, but wasn't able to read one. I'm quite curious what content it will be all about for this book aside from basic information.

I think, I have seen one of your previous posts early this year, your effort will not go in vain. God bless you. But writing a book is a voluntary handwork if you are capable to do it then fire down and if you are not then you have to restructure your plans to write the booth because writing a book is money. Writing a book need strength and time. And the history of Bitcoin is in the whitepaper of Bitcoin and that will be a great help to you. And for the forum anyone who is touched to give you a token will do that, but one thing you have to know is don't expect too much because not everyone will donate it is only for the willing ones. Thank you very much for the effort you are putting in the writing nod the historical background of Bitcoin which will help the next generation because this generation has already know the background of Bitcoin from original paper.

The next generation might have the easy access to the white paper but books like this will be available at all corner in the world for them to read. Therefore you are doing a great job. Keep it up. Help will come your way. But don't depends on human as I said earlier. Congratulations.

I understand your personal perspective. It does take a high degree of patience and perseverance to write a book, especially 300 pages long. The aim remains to complete it in September 2024 regardless of financial support from the community.

No one feeling generous this Christmas? The book preview in the OP is effectively around 1/3 of the final pages (300 A4 page book). If you found the early Bitcoin history useful, please donate a small amount towards my efforts to complete all other pages.

Thank you

I don't see why you are constantly looking for financial motivation in a project that does not require any material costs except your time? Your main motivation should be doing something that you consider important, and you invest your free time in it. When the book is finished, you will be able to put it up for sale and all your efforts will pay off ;)

If I find myself with surplus money, I tend to be generous by supporting others. I find that it's not what we have, but how we use what we have to make things happen.

- A pro bitcoiner being Argentina's president.

- Bitcoin mixers being ceased.

- SBF being sentenced

- BlackRock and others wanting a piece of the Bitcoin pie with their Spot ETF

“The Past Milestones”, the index is just amazing and it’s making me read the book already. This is definitely going to be detailed book considering the index titles from domain registration to how it started with email communications, yeah that gives me good insight about this book and what is expected from it. I think we are going to have very nice book soon just because of one active and enthusiastic member.

I just wanna say, keep it up. I will contact you regarding donation after few days once I get my salaries rolled over by my employer. Being Bitcoin lover I would be more than happy to donate small share for your good work. All the very best mate. Hope to see your copy released real soon.  :)

I would have to agree each time I check this thread the progress is really looking good. I love how this is in the layout of a school text book. I'll definitely be looking forward to taking a gander at the "The Past Milestones" as well it'll be good to have a crisp synopsis of all the main events. Looking forward to seeing the final product. Please do put me on the list to purchase one when the time comes.

I would definitely mention the introduction of Ordinals and the enormous amount of spam that followed ever since. You could talk about what an affect it made on the network fees and how congested the network has been ever since. Perhaps there is a source that shows the average fees each month, so you can show the readers how little you needed to pay in the past and that those days are gone.

Does anyone in the community know a reliable Bitcoin transaction fee historical online resource?

I am on my phone, so I can't check this out in detail, but from what I can see, Mempool.space has a transactions fee historical reference here: https://mempool.space/graphs/mempool#3m.

Play around with the time frames and see if that works for you or not.

Well, if you haven't been in the loop then your book is not complete yet. Here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1306983.0

It was first 32 Bitcoins, in april 2023 the creator added more than 950 870 Bitcoins to the challenge, so now we call it 1000 BTC challenge. 😉

Well i've got to say that this is a very tempting offer, but it is a lot of work to do all of this in exchange for notoriety and I think that ought to be worth it I will have to think on this one! It would be a lot of fun to have my research and work published in this book. I assume you would intend to have this book in a hard back copy, maybe it could even be a major success! It is a fun effort and great concept: a community written history book on bitcoin. Maybe that can be the sequel.

If you have not already, please read the opening post of this thread. There is a link to a preview of the book interior (not the current status of the pages) covering the early BTC major milestones.

Please support my efforts if you can. There are still 10 full pages (1 page per person, first come first serve) for anyone who wants their BTC story/experience told (see first post 07/01/2024 update).

I'm beginning to doubt the September 2024 book completion deadline, but I will do all I can to achieve it.

It is truly incredible and an adventure to find all the history of Bitcoin inside one book. History is never erased, people remember those who work on history forever. It is very difficult to compile all the data or history of Bitcoin into a book, but I think your courage to do so will help us to do many new things and learn new things.

Much appreciated so98nn.  Bitcoin is nothing without its community.

Currently consolidating Bitcoin history from 2008 to 2019 by reading print-outs. If I have missed any important information, it is ample opportunity to find out.

Once the above is done, 2020 to 2023 is next.

I won't be showing book interiors from now on. The book will hopefully be on sale in September 2024.

Congratulations for the initiative to start writing such a book. It's by now means an easy task and it requires tons of research and time put into it, but I'm sure it will all be worth it at some point in the future. I've taken a glance through the first chapters and considering you are not a professional writer and I'm assuming you've never done a project like this in the past, at least not at this scale, it looks great. The information seems well structured and it includes links, photos and quotes to better understand it.

I don't think I'm in a position to give you any suggestions, I just wanted to encourage to keep going and take this project to the end because such projects are of great benefit to Bitcoin community not only for present but especially for the future generations.

I'm slightly disappointed tgat the community hasn't supported me as much as I thought they would have. Nevertheless, whoever buys the book in September 2024 will have no excuses to forget major milestones and price history metrics. I also cover Bitcoin network hashrate history, Bitcoin Core wallets upgrades, soft forks, hacks, scams, the scaling debate, and more much.

300 A4 Colour pages covering Bitcoin history up to and including 30th June 2024!

UPDATE 03/03/2024:

UPDATE 07/02/2024:

I've completed history chapters covering 2008 to 2017 (pages 44 to 187 - 144 pages).

2017 Chapter:

http://htps://i.ib.co/3zhDRZd/06022024chapter09.png (http://htps://igbb.com/)

For one year, I've been researching and writing about the full 2008-2024 Bitcoin history.  I plan to self-publish a 300 A4 page book (colour interior) on Amazon by September 2024.  It will cover all major Bitcoin milestones from inception of the blockchain to the end of June 2024.  I've spent countless hours collating and presenting relevant history by writing 16 page yearly chapters. Chapters covering 2008 to 2016 (128 A4 pages) 100% complete.

Chapters covering 2017 to 30th June 2024 (122 A4 pages) about 50% complete.

I am willing to post the full 2008 to 2016 chapters in PDF format if the community collectively donates

0.0992845 BTC to

bc1qktyzg2atx5paka2x64pxdwg54u7m2yn3cu2qxy

Countless hours (most likely 1,000 hours or more) have been spent writing the aforementioned period.

Full book will be released on 12th September 2024!

I will release the Bitcoin History book chapters 2008 to 2016 (pages 50 to 177) at around 23:00 UTC tonight.  The only pages incompleted are the chapter summary pages, which will be written when all other pages are done.

I hope the community will show generosity, because I have chosen to freely release 128 pages. I've spent countless hours putting it together, and know how special Bitcoin history is.

I look forward to all your comments about the above imminent release.

Happy Easter

Bitcoin history pages from inception to October 2018 fully complete. I anticipate 2008-2019 complete this month.

Other yearly chapters are currently in annotatee draft format. I look forward to finishing 2020-2023 by the end of June 2024.

Please send feedback on the 2008-2016 content, and don't forget to support my efforts (read opening post). I will do my utmost, whilst working full-time hours for my day job, to finish the book in the summer.

Thank you to all those who have already donated to the book. All your names/aliases will be listed in the book.

It looks like you are putting a lot of effort into the book. I like that you have done a thorough job of researching, especially the first few years. Some criticisms:

  • 1. Too much orange. I like the idea of orange accents since that is Bitcoin's color, but it isn't really a very pleasant color and there is just too much of it.
  • 2. There is too much emphasis on the price throughout the book. I like the price tracking in the side bar and I think that notable events regarding the price are appropriate, but I feel like yearly fiat price history sections with the graphs and the tables showing the monthly changes are too much. Anyway, that's not something that people are going to read because it is just data.

Have you considered a Kickstarter campaign rather than asking for donations?

I have barely been active in the past months so I missed the updates completely until now and I just saw you now have a deadline.  Congratulations, this is persistence and I hope it will really pay off well.

Depending on how the sales will go, do you consider writing some sort of 'expansion packs' for the History Book after the release of this one?

Yes, it depends on sales and my own motivation. It has not been easy for the people in my life who have spent less time with me. If it pays off well, si be it. Ultimately, I look forward to the finished book.

Thank you for your praise for my efforts  ;D

I do agree that it looks like we are seeing something monumental, a great work and a lot of effort must have gone into this. I think it is quite entertaining that we have an almanac on what is going on and I think it is quite important to see how you could profit from it as well. I believe that the best thing to go with right now would be just focusing on not just payment (which I agree you deserve all the money in the world for putting this much effort) but also getting some help.

If money is too hard to come by, spending all your time makes no sense, if you are getting paid a lot then it is fine but if you are not getting paid a lot (which I think you are not) then at least getting free help is better, ask for research help from people, they would spend their time but not their money, would be easier.

I thought that the community would have shown more generosity considering I posted 128 pages for free (covering 2008 to 2016).  I'm currently focused on 2019 summer Bitcoin historical material.

There is only 5 months for community members to have their name/alias in the book.  It will be self-published in September 2024, before Christmas 2024 of course!!!

Currently putting together 'The Bitcoin History Book' 2008-2024 chapter covering 2020 milestones:

I think I'll still on course to complete the book by September 2024.  It seems that the next four months are going to be challenging due to limited time and financial resources.

If you don't know, you can have your name/alias listed in the book for at least US$10 (see donation addresses in OP).  Over ten have already been listed, thank you.

I'm curious, what inspired you to undertake such a project? It sounds like a labor of love, but I'd love to hear more about your motivation and what you hope readers will gain from your book. Additionally, have you considered crowdfunding platforms to support your efforts?
