I wasn't expecting that the first edition of this contest would get any noticeable steam when I first shared this idea[1]. Thankfully I am glad to say that last year edition had a great number of entries and totally surpassed my expectations. I considered it to be a great success but it was only because of the community support and engagement. Thank you all.
This year I have a new challenge: To surpass last year success. Without further due, I am glad to announce that the second edition of the Bitcointalk Pie Baking contest is now LIVE!
The aim of the contest is still the same - Celebrate the famous Pie day but instead replace the Pie number with our beloved bitcoin symbol.

Prize:

There won't be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place this year. Per some feedback from last year, it would be great that users could vote in more than one entry. Adding to that I also believe that in such system we should aim to avoid letting votes go to waste. In an effort to strike a balance between ranking entries and making every vote count, this year the voting system will be based on the single transferable voting system[2]. You can see a practical example of the method here[3].

The amount of bitcoin gathered during the event will be distributed equally between the three most voted pies.

Like last year everyone is free to contribute to the prize pool. If you want to contribute to the pot just let me know and I'll update the table below. Currently the prize pool holds the following funds:

New prize (collectible) addition as of 10th of March:
The great artwork posted by 1Dq (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5485091.msg63785868#msg63785868) gave me an idea of an additional prize - A contest inspired canvas collectible made in collaboration with 1Dq! The artwork will be kept in secret and only myself and 1Dq will know the final result. That is, until the winner receives it and (hopefully) posts it!

Here is the main information:
  • Canvas size: 30x40cm/12x15in (frame not included)
  • The pool of winners of this collectible will be one of the 3 users that will share the podium;
  • The winner of the collectible will be chosen using bitmover Bitcointalk Giveaway Manager;
  • If the winner of the giveaway declines to receive the award, then another draft will be made using the same tool for the remaining 2;
  • If no winner accepts the award, then it shall be made a giveaway between all other entries to the contest;
  • This process will repeat until someone accepts the collectible.

@RickDeckard, If I throw some money into the pot for the prize pool, would I still be eligible to participate as a contestant in the competition?

You would still be edible eligible. From my perspective you are not buying anything and you are not getting any kind of leverage against other contestants by contributing to the prize pool. As an example, PowerGlove did the same last year[1][2].

I had a lot of fun participating in this last year!

I'll contribute 3 mBTC to the prize pool.

(I'm not sure I'll be able to participate again this year, but if I do find the time, it'll be on the same basis as last year: a submission with a ton of help from my wife; like I said last time, I'm much better at eating pies than I am at making them, especially without my buxom sous-chef to basically tell me exactly what to do and then let me take all the glory.) :D

You would still be edible. (...)
Are we about to eat some pies, or each other? :P

Hey Rick, thank you for your efforts in iterating again this very nice contest! I liked a lot the fact that last year's iteration attracted many participants, thus the contest was a success. And I am more than sure that this edition will also be a success.

And, for giving a hand of help here, I proposed this topic inside AOBT group (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5442314.msg63672823#msg63672823), for being translated in other languages, thus the contest will have more visibility inside the forum, by being announced in the local boards too. I don't know yet if my proposal will be approved, but I hope it will. In any case, I will certainly translate your topic in Romanian.

Thank you again for your nice thoughts and for organizing this contest!

The first submission for the Pie Baking contest.

There is no more interesting concept but I made a pie that is almost the same as the previous pie but it is still interesting and eaten with the family to celebrate this.  :)

Here are just a few photos of the finished pie.

Please tell your wife that both of you will have to upgrade your skills for this year edition as the competition will surely be fierce. Tell her that bitcointalk fame awaits at the end of the competition  8).
Are we about to eat some pies, or each other? :P
I blame my gluttony for this mistake (or by being too much into the contest I guess?). Although each question that you made could be open for discussion, I will much prefer to correct the typo :).

Thank you for that Gazeta! Like last year, I have messaged theymos to see if this year we could also have some spot in the "News" banner but that might not happen (which is understandable) so any support in spreading the contest is great.

I forgot to add a picture of the intermediate process of making this pie, tomorrow I will add that picture.
I will take some pictures from my wife's cell phone.

If this is allowed, I will add if this is not included in the competition qualification, maybe I can make a new one if I have free time.

I am more than honored to participate this year again in Rick's contest!

So for this year I have a delicious pie which needs the following:

  • The dough: 2 eggs, 500gr flour, 200gr butter, 200gr sugar, 200gr sour cream, 5gr, 16gr vanilla sugar, 10gr baking powder, 3gr salt.
  • The filling: 50gr sugar, 1 teaspon cinnamon, 50gr butter, 100gr ground nuts, 2 kg apples.
  • The preparation:
    • For making the dough we pour the melted then cooled butter on the flour and mix them. Add afterwards the eggs, the sugar, the vanilla sugar, the baking powder, the sour cream and the salt -- the lattest helping in improving the flavors. The composition should be mixed until becoming homogenized and it does not stick on the hand anymore. Afterwards, the created dough should be covered with cling film and put to the fridge for 1h.
    • Regarding the filling, we start with peeling the apples then passing them through a grater. We put them in a wok, together with the butter and the sugar and put on the stove, mixing them, until the liquid part diminishes. After this mix cools down we add the cinnamon and the ground nuts.
    • Regarding the assembling of everything, we start with powdering (also adding some butter) the baking tray. The dough has to be split in 3 parts. A first part is placed on the baking tray and a second part on the "walls" of the baking tray. Then the composition (the apples) is added too. The third part of the dough is placed above the apples. The baking tray should be placed in the oven 35-40 minutes, until it becomes toasty. We take it out of the oven after this time and allow it to cool down. In the end we add the powdered sugar on the upper topping.
Bon appetit!

The pie looks like this:

This is my second time. Actually, I love to cook and I also have a great enjoyment to making it. I thought the combination of so many items would make the pie test bad but no, I don't know how it turned out but the test was great.  All our family enjoyed it very much.

Cooking Ingredients: Flour, Baking Powder, Egg, Vanilla Essence, Food Colour, Apple, Banana, Cerry, grapes, Pomegranate, Strawberry,

Best Wishes for All.  :D

This is the first time I have participated in such a contest. I don't know how my pies turned out but I tried my best to make a nice pie. At first when I talked to my mom about making them for this, my mom laughed at what I was actually talking about. Later, after convincing Amma, she said that she will help her make it. Then I look up on the internet how to make it and what it takes.  After listing everything from Amma, we went to the market and bought it. My mom helps me make it. I've had it a lot and never had such a delicious homemade pie. After making it, it was very nice to eat the delicious pie.

Pie Making Accessories : Flour, Cornflower, Egg, Fruits, Butter, Orange jelly, Icing sugar, Milk, Vanilla essence.

@RickDeckard
Thank you for creating another edition of this contest. It's cool to see the community involved and the good pies they make (at least they look good).

I don't know if I'll participate, but at least I'll follow.

If you need any help from TalkImg, just say so.  ;)

To everyone who wanted posts with "Reserved".

Being posted only reserved, I didn't want any advantage to others, since votes are not in order of entry.

But, they end up forcing viewers of the topic to have to scroll back through posts to check if new entries have been added. I ask at least, when you add your participation, that you make a post to let us know that you did so. (With link to the post) It will help identify new entries.

It's my first time participating in the Bitcointalk Pie Baking Contest.

🥧Pie is not our local food where I live, so I had a lot of trouble making it. Made many mistakes along the way. Didn't have an oven or anything else to bake this thing, so I had to use other methods. I thought it would be a disaster, but it came out better than my expectations. And at the end of the day, me & my family enjoyed a good piece of pie. Best of luck everyone.

Did you follow this rule at all?It is clearly stated here that any member who wants to participate in this contest needs at least 30 merits and 30 activities.Neither of your 30 activities and 30 merits are present but you have already submitted your entry here.

Follow this rule:
Who can participate & vote?:

  • Users with 30 merit (airdrop merit won't count) and 30 activity.

This is your first attempt and I applaud you for it. But brother if you try a little better it would be better if you just mixed some vegetables and onions on a bread.  ;D

The pies in the competition must be sweet and not savory, so vegetables are not recommended.  ::)

  • Pie must be made by yourself and the theme should be Bitcoin related. Check out last year entries[4] if you are unsure if your entry will be qualified or not.
  • The definition of a pie, per Merriam-Webster, states:
Code:
a: a dessert consisting of a filling (as of fruit or custard) in a pastry shell or topped with pastry or both

This is my second Pie contest. Actually, I'm not very expert, but I didn't just give up because there were lots of references or tutorials on the internet that made me excited to take part in the Pie Contest. Maybe the appearance of my pie is not attractive, please understand because I don't have an Open cake at home but the taste of the pie did not disappoint.

Materials needed. Sugar, Eggs, Flour, Oil, Kiwi, Cherries, Oranges, Grapes, Milk etc.

Good day @ RickDeckard, thanks for yet another wonderful baking contest. Thank you for the translation, I will add it to the OP. As for the entry in another topic, I kindly ask you referr entries to this thread as it is the official one. Having parallel entries in other threads is also bad for entries because they don't have the same reach, and it makes my job harder in trying to gather all of them.

Very happy to participate in Bitcointalk Pie baking contest. Today I made a pie myself for the first time, I tried my best to make the pie beautiful. I tested the pie I made with my family members. They told me it was very tasty. When I got good reviews from family members, I thought I might have done it well.

Can you show like the other participants the raw materials and manufacturing process. I think the pie you included is like buying it in a shop

  • In order to be qualified you should post a picture containing your homemade pie + a piece of paper with your username and date. At least 2 more pictures should be taken during the making of the pie to ensure that it wasn't bought

I don't understand why your negative comments on making my pie. Shop-made pies look like this? Check out the pies I made and then comment. If the raw material is not displayed, the displayed pie is not bought by the shop.

I laughed out loud seeing your reply, I'll show you where the mistake is.

Take a look at the green arrow that I made,
Is it possible that flour that is burned will be black lol, as far as I know flour that is burned will be brownish.

Look again at the white arrow on how you form the Bitcoin symbol with a black pen, there I also see that the color of the sprinkles is not perfect, it looks a bit like white paper.

The materials I made my pie with are:
Suger
Flours
Orange
Strawberry
Grapes
Cheese

I also decided to make a pie for this Baking Contest. My friend once treated me to this pie, I really liked it and now it’s one of my family’s favorite pies. The combination of Camembert and Dor Blue cheeses with honey and pear is unique! I remember how then I thought, that I have never tried this before.

Cashew nuts also go very well with this pie, but while I was cooking, my baby ate them all, and I had to replace them with walnuts.  :D

It's very tasty! Simple and quick recipe.

Cooking Ingredients: flour, egg, butter, honey, pear, nuts, Camembert and Dor Blue cheeses, and canned sugar cherries for BTC.

This is my first time taking part in a pie making contest. Even though I lack 1 merit point, it doesn't make me discouraged, let me be able to participate in the challenge this time. I'm not very good at making cakes but I try my best.

Ingredients I used: Wheat flour, sugar, butter, eggs, cheese, chocolate, tomatoes, carrots.

I am very happy to join this pie contest, and this is my second pie celebration, I was not accepted here when I was a new user when I celebrated pie for the first time. However, I still learned a lot from it which is why I learned and created so much more the second time around than before. And of course I feel very blessed to be participating in this second pie contest of mine.

Hello, a friend of mine offered me a new plat à tartes. For this occasion I also made an object to sprinkle lightly with cinnamon. It was really hard to make a beautiful B ... In any case, the pie tastes very good  :D

I admit I almost posed with the pie and a BTC T-shirt to get more votes, but in the end it would have been too unfair to the male participants  ;D

Definitely looks appetizing and even though I'm not a fan of pies or desserts like that (I love me some cake  ;D), that looks good enough to me that I won't mind trying that, you also should've done that, even if you think it's unfair, these people aren't going to distracted easily, they'll probably stick to their criteria, regardless of the gender, just make sure to hide your face or any tattoos (if you have any) that would identify you in person. It's still a privacy oriented forum so keep that in mind.

I was just kidding...
My specialty is not pie, but chocolate fondant and strawberry charlotte. But my modest apple tart was still pretty good, I didn't want to add whipped cream, meringue or anything I don't like. If I can't win, I at least want to be able to eat the tart  ;D

With a link to the post but where? I'm a little confused. I mean in this thread? I just posted mine. Here is the link, hope it helps.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5485091.msg63696641#msg63696641

(Had one or two questions. It's my first time participating, so I'm unaware of some rules. For example, can a participant vote for another participant? Anyone care to answer? :))

Thank you for the offer! I would prefer that you would transfer the funds directly to the winners if that is ok with you?

I have updated the second post with the validated entries. If you do not see your entry there, then you probably have not followed the rules (I would say the main reason would be that the entry isn't a pie but a cake).

First I was want to make a strawberry pie, unfortunately strawberry in quite scarce in my country, I've go to few stores but no one sell it. Since dragon fruit also has a nice color, so I choose dragon fruit instead.

Pie dough ingredients:
1. Low protein flour
2. Egg yolk
3. Milk powder + salt
4. Powdered sugar
5. Butter

https://i.postimg.cc/zBzb4HBp/ingredient.jpg

Filling ingredients:
1. Red dragon fruit
2. Cornstarch + sugar

https://i.postimg.cc/7PQGQ6yM/ingredient-2.jpg

All the process, mixing all the dough pie ingredients, let aside in refrigerator for 30 minutes, put the dough on pie mold, bake it for 15 minutes. Chop the dragon fruit, cook it, add cornstarch + sugar and sugar to make it solid, then pour it over the baked pie.

https://i.postimg.cc/j5Hc471X/process-3.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Kz3SGJRY/process-4.jpg

After the pie is already cool, I add powdered sugar over the paper that I've cut into Bitcoin logo. And this is it, homemade dragon fruit pie by Despairo! ;)

I love the idea of a Bitcoin pie baking contest and I wanted to participate in my own way.

Since I'm an artist (running projects mostly in the collectibles part of btctalk) and no good at baking, I'm not here to compete, just add some flavor and hopefully, fun to the mix!

I made this pie with the help of my older sister, she was very enthusiastic about helping me to take part in this competition in the hope of winning this contest.  ;D Hope you all like our collaboration, guaranteed to taste delicious.

The ingredients I use to make pie are as follows.
Margarine
egg
Wheat
Brown liquid
Sugar

The toppings are biscuits, chocolate, cherry, caca, yupi, and marshmallow

This is Pitaya fruit or a type of Dragon Fruit, the fruit emerges from a cactus-like plant and it tastes quite fresh... I have this plant next to the house. The taste of the fruit, there is a combination of sour and sweet sensations (sour is more dominant).

Meanwhile, the purple color really attracts attention. Honestly, I also want to take a bite of this pie if it's just a little sweeter.

Apparently that's how the pitaya looks like? Because we can learn things too (as far as I'm concerned, anyway) while taking part in a pie-making contest. This pittaya is simply amazing.

Hi, this is my second time entering this contest, last year was my first time and it was also my first time making a pie(any kind), thanks to this contest I got interested in pie making and have started making it from time to time(when I feel like it), but it is usually egg pie since it is the easiest, the ingredients is always available and lastly it is my favorite 😂.

anyway, on this year's Bitcointalk Pie Baking Contest, I made Peach Pie, I got the recipe from YouTube. To be honest, I have no idea what it would taste like since it is my first time making it but it turned out really good, the crumbly crust really complimented the filling I made which was a combination of canned peach, cinnamon, vanilla extract, sugar and cornstarch to thicken it up. this pie would be so much better if paired with vanilla ice cream(which is recommended) but my dumbass self, forgot to buy it and only remember after I finished cooking.

Ingredients
flour
cornstarch
canned peach
butter
cinnamon
vanilla extract
sugar

Thank you very much Rick for another round of the Bitcointalk Pie Baking contest. This is my first time participating at the contest and it was actually a lot of fun in the end tasting it. What a day that was, I completely forgot the contest was ending today. Somehow, I thought it was until Friday evening and I had another day to prepare and finish the pie, the counter saved me. This is one of my favourites, a chocolate layered pie. The most work was crafting the topper with liquid chocolate and metallic golden powder. The coins brought back a lot of childhood memories as I haven't tasted them in a long time, unfortunately I had to buy them as I had no clue how to make them myself.

Good luck to all the other contestants, with all those exotic fruits I am getting hungry every time I see a new pie being posted. Probably my last homemade cake for the year :D my grandmother does a much better job.

It's a marvellous cake, but it's not a pie. Hurry up to make a pie  :P

I am new to bitcointalk forum. Tried it myself after watching a pie contest. I have never made a pie so I have no experience. But I'm glad to be a contestant in the Bitcoin Pie Contest. Here is a brief summary of what ingredients I used to make it.

What an extraordinary color, I've never tasted this fruit.
Thanks! your pie looks good too. :)

@bayu7adi is correct with the taste, it's quite sweet and sour, but I add sugar so it's sweeter.

I would really love to take part into this contest again but sadly I saw this only a week ago on Bitcointalk's news feed under profile avatar and I didn't have enough time to make a pie. I wish success to everyone, some of them really look very cool but guys, pie is a pie, keep that in mind please.
Is Meta board a bad place for such a contest? I think not many people will miss it there.

Again, big thanks to RickDeckard, PowerGlove and UserU.

Personal issues prevented me to come here in time to close the thread and creating a new one for the voting phase.

I'll try to open the voting phase as soon as possible. Rest assured that the time frame will be adjusted.

Sorry for the trouble.

Hello and good luck to everyone.

@RickDeckard since I am not participating but I find this contest really fun, could I contribute with 160,000 satoshi?

Here is the address as a proof of funds (https://mempool.space/address/bc1qdsvd22yk6crc9ekwmkd89c8aklpjx8atm8ndrp) (if necessary).

I am actually gonna send the entire UTXO, but I just say 160,000 sats for rounding purposes.

Thank you for helping out in increasing the prize pool apogio! I have updated the initial thread with your amount. Let's hope that next year we can see your entry as well  8).

We are now sitting at 0.0086 bitcoin for the prize pool which I find it to be quite a considerable amount since it is a community event. Thank you all! This and the collectible will sure create a nice memory of this edition.

@RickDeckard You forgot something very important, which I only noticed now, you didn't announce the voting topic.
Neither in the OP nor in the second post, do you have the link to the vote. It should have.

Here is the voting topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5489177.0

Hello @RickDeckard.

I have updated my vote in the corresponding thread, since PytagoraZ decided to withdraw their participation. I wanted to do it anyway because I have seen some bad trust reviews on him. This is irrelevant though.

What I wanted to ask is if it's ok to change the vote, like I already did. If it's not, let me know. I guess it will be fine though.

You are free to edit your vote until the contest 2nd phase (the voting phase) ends, which is about 3 days and a couple hours from now.

I was just kidding...
My specialty is not pie, but chocolate fondant and strawberry charlotte. But my modest apple tart was still pretty good, I didn't want to add whipped cream, meringue or anything I don't like. If I can't win, I at least want to be able to eat the tart  ;D
Dude, that's even more delectable especially anything that's got a strawberry in it, I'm all for it. I think that's what matter the most, you add only the stuff that you'd want to eat, I don't think that it's even logical to do any kind of extravagance just for the sake of winning and then at the end of the day you'll throw it away because you've added stuff that you don't even want to eat.
