Statistics:
  • This year we had 186 unique users nominated for 10 categories. Excepting them, some were also nominated as being event or fail of the year. In comparison, last year we had only 166 users being nominated.
  • The greatest number of nominations received by a user was 81 (theymos at Hero of Good category). Last year he was also the one with most votes (87) at same category.
  • The biggest difference between a first place and a second place was 60 votes (theymos vs fillippone, at Hero of Good category. Last year biggest difference was of 62 votes, between PowerGlove and n0nce, at Discovery of the Year category.
  • franky1 tried again to abuse the system, just like last year, by meriting those who nominated him as antihero, in order to have less votes at this category. Similar to last year, his attempts were not counted. Also similar to last year, he "managed" to keep his second place at this category.
  • There were still some cases when some votes were denied for breaking the "no-merit rule" (but way less than last year, which is great).
  • Votes of SPARE, ColdLava40 and speeder were not counted, as they have less than 50 merits earned.
  • Votes for inactive users, such as satoshi, were also not counted, due to their inactivity.
  • Some mentions of event / fail of the year were merged all together, as they written with words suggesting same idea.
  • Some votes for nominees which had their name spelled incorrectly were merged together (Ratimov & Symmetrick, e_o_l_o_e & o_e_l_e_o etc.)
  • The votes for "TalkImg" at Discovery of the Year category were not awarded to Joker_josue, as "TalkImg" was not a forum username. However, this did not stop Joker_josue to win first place at this category.
  • The ban of mixers was voted as most important event of the year and also the fail of the year. This should say a lot about how this decision was perceived by forum users.
  • Forum's queen seems to be the solitary leader at Miss BitcoinTalk category, winning first prize for 3 years in a row now ::) Same is true also for TryNinja, which won for last 3 consecutive years the Bitcoin Ninja category. Furthermore, o_e_l_e_o kept winning at Bitcoin Geek category for 4 years in a row -- WOW!

I also want to congratulate each and everyone of you.

Congrats to the organizers and the participants.

I am particularly happy for the winners in the "Discovery of the year" category, where I took the 4th place. Now that I am seeing the names: Joker_josue, PowerGlove, paid2, it is only normal that I didn't surpass them! The guys are amazing.

Special thanks to icopress and GazetaBitcoin. You facilitate our lives in here.

Finally:
Foxpup, I don't know what to say lol. Congrats!

Lastly:
o_e_l_e_o you have won a place in our hearts, apart from the obvious awards. You see... We miss you!

Hmm, this is really huge and this shows that we are definitely moving towards progress and prosperity here in the community. With theymos adding this bonus I can definitely say we will indeed see alot of hell of different pies and we all should be ready to brace ourselves for the event.

All these events are what really makes this place unique and I salute all those that have being on the edge to actually make this place running and a success too.

A big congratulations to the winners on their awards won. I must say that the forum is getting better when it comes to awards of this nature. I am very optimistic that the next award will be better than this with more catchy prices I guess  ;D
I was surprised to be mentioned amongst those with the fewest votes  ;D. It's quite some progress I'll say.

Wow, what an honor, my first Bitcointalk Awards. The list of people I wanna thank is so long, let's see how many I can name before the play-off music starts. First I wanna thanks icopress for putting this whole thing together, this guy is a real workhorse behind the scenes and sometimes I'm jealous of that level of work ethic.

Second I want to thank all the people who voted for me, even if you just copy/pasted other peoples' votes and don't really know me, you're still cool with me of course. We've come a long way in deterring AI spam since it first became a problem, and thanks to the vigilance of the entire community of scambusters, I don't think scammers can get away with as much shit as they used to (oh sorry, I forgot this is a family show, please bleep that). Anyway thanks to everyone out there trying to keep it 100 and trying to keep scams & spam outta this house.

Of course I can't forget satoshi, without him none of us would be here right now, he's the man of all mans. I also want to thank theymos for keeping the lights on & being the most benevolent of dictators. He's created an environment that allows us to be who were are and keep us all coming here.

I also want to thank Kendrick Lamar for putting How Much A Dollar Cost out into the universe -- its a sword of a song that I try to live by in my day to day life, an inspiration for real. I wanna also thank Ye for his guest vocals on the single, Buddha, Copernicus, Gilgamesh, Andrew Carnegie, Stephen Hawking and of course the Big Man Upstairs. Love ya all, for real. Peace out y'all and let's do this again next year, I had fun.

I join in the congratulations, and also thank everyone who voted for me. I did not enter into the arguments of men about how they would like to see evidence that there could be women in their powerful society. I thank everyone who had no doubts and voted for me.
I also promise to closely monitor and look for all scammers who are trying to deceive the forum and its users. I think scammers should not meddle on the forum, since many people try to keep it clean.
Thank you all.

I hope to continue to do a good job and that TalkImg continues to be useful for everyone.

I don't know if I'll be able to do something that will have such an impact again, but I promise to keep working so that the project continues to grow. I have a few ideas in mind, but I don't think they will have that much impact.

Thanks again.
And of course, congratulations to all the winners!

That's really going to be huge, and I'm also expecting more contributions in that prize pool. Theymos added his share in the fund and I expect other Bitcoin lovers to contribute something into that fund. The ones who make best pizzas will not only get a badge but some good amount for their time and dedication towards Bitcoin and Bitcoin pizza competition.

I'm very happy that you'll be taking care of that competition! I hope this time we may see the best pizzas in the contest! AI has also got so advanced, will there be any measures to disqualify the contestants who might use AI generated images of pizzas? The worst thing about the new AI generated images is that it's really hard to know that if they are generated or are someone own work.

Congr-izz-atulations to all the weiners up in this piece!!  I had no idea who to vote for in each category aside from Foxpup and a couple of others, but I'm sure all the winners deserve their titles for this year.

And damn, when I saw what got voted for in the fail of the year I realized that I completely forgot about the Ledger debacle.  That was no small thing, and in so far as it concerns cryptocurrency in general and not just forum failures, it probably should have gotten more votes.

Thank you for hosting this, and congratulations to the winners!
I have already received my three third prizes :)

Code:
o_e_l_e_o: 🥇 1st place, 🥇 1st place (Unplanned additional cash prize as a sign of respect!).
Have arrangements been made to still be able to send him (or his family) the prize money? I still keep stumbling into his posts, and every time I'm reminded he should have still been here :(

Quote
Code:
GazetaBitcoin: 🥇 1st place, 🥈 2nd place, 🥈 2nd place (Do you still believe that he is not an alcoholic? Look how many prizes he took!).
I can't comment on the alcoholic part, but shouldn't the last "2nd" be a "3rd" (for the Golden Feather)?

Quote
Code:
LoyceV: 🥉 3rd place, 🥉 3rd place, 🥉 3rd place (He was very close to taking second place three times!).
I was much closer to taking third place four times :)

At least I get less and less votes for Miss Bitcointalk, but still, you guys would be in for a surprised. I was going to say big surprise, but let's not go there :P

I summed up the amount of the prize for 2nd and 3rd place and divided it equally (for this reason GB is designated as 2nd place).  ;)

Uh, I read somewhere on one of these threads that o_e_l_e_o's account is locked. It can be verified with the BPIP extension though and that is what is stated on it.

When an account is locked it means you can't even log in to the account, kinda like Satoshi's account, so I don't think he will be able to read your message even if he is still around.

Yes, the o_e_l_e_o account is currently banned.

When an account is locked it means you can't even log in to the account, kinda like Satoshi's account, so I don't think he will be able to read your message even if he is still around.

It all depends on how the account was blocked. If it was blocked by moderators, the user can log in to the account and view incoming messages. If the account was blocked using a secret question, for example, then yes, the user will not be able to log in to their account.

Event of the Year and Fail of the Year results show how much of an impact "the news" of the "ban" on the forum had..but what the heck we take the news with a pinch of salt and move on, maybe in the future this ban will be lifted !!

Otherwise great competition it was and some names proving to be undisputed in their categories and don't see this changing anytime soon.. all in all congratulations 💐🥳🎉 🎁 to all those that emerged has winners.

I wish that more work was being done on creating decentralized, uncensorable, but also usable forums. I would love nothing more than to be able to shut down bitcointalk.org due to some decentralized solution making it obsolete. Find me a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working on this, and I'll donate to it.

Thank you Icopress, GazetaBitcoin, and whoever was involved in organizing this community award. I never expected to be nominated among these legends. Even though I didn't win anything, thanks to you guys who nominated me. I consider this as an achievement. It will encourage me to be more active and contribute to the forum. Congratulations to the winners of each category. Farewell friend LEO. You will be missed buddy! I know a lof of forum members still did not notice your absence. Probably because they have not seen your thread yet. You will always be in our memory!

Big ol' speeches should be for the people with 1st-place finishes, so I'll just say: Thanks to everyone who voted for me (really, it makes me smile), and congratulations to all the winners!!

@o_e_l_e_o: We really miss you. I hope you're happy/comfortable wherever you are. You'll be remembered fondly around here for a very long time. :'(

@icopress: Thanks for organizing this yet again, you're awesome, man! :) (And thanks for sending my prize to derBowler, another awesome dude.)

@GazetaBitcoin: Were you responsible for counting the votes? If so, thanks for helping icopress (seriously), but I have to ask: Were you maybe drinking on the job, friend? Too much plastic-bottled wine? :P (The reason I ask is that if I count the votes myself I get slightly different results than yours. Maybe I'm drinking too much, I don't know; see below.) ;)

I count 26 "Bitcointalk Ninja" votes for me (not 27): NotATether (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63265947#msg63265947), Woodie (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63266812#msg63266812), criptoevangelista (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63267962#msg63267962), dkbit98 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63269422#msg63269422), jeraldskie11 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63273269#msg63273269), nakamura12 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63273657#msg63273657), Charles-Tim (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63274563#msg63274563), SatoPrincess (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63274694#msg63274694), Husna QA (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63275965#msg63275965), Nheer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63279396#msg63279396), joker_josue (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63296108#msg63296108), Lafu (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63296324#msg63296324), AHOYBRAUSE (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63307711#msg63307711), julerz12 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63342994#msg63342994), Jawhead999 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63373647#msg63373647), m2017 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63373847#msg63373847), Amphenomenon (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63380200#msg63380200), TryNinja (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63393610#msg63393610), sabotag3x (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63437086#msg63437086), Ambatman (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63490667#msg63490667), Foxpup (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63527925#msg63527925), famososMuertos (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63543262#msg63543262), LoyceV (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63545934#msg63545934), FatFork (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63579145#msg63579145), Potato Chips (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63580987#msg63580987), darxiaomi (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476124.msg63581981#msg63581981).

Hopefully, I'm just missing some detail/rule, because if the first two things I check are wrong, that usually means there'll be more mistakes if I keep looking. These two mistakes are small, and they wouldn't have affected my outcomes, but maybe a more thorough check will reveal outcome-changing mistakes for other users. (I don't have the time to do that myself, and I hate to create more work for you or anyone else, but I had to mention it.) :-\

I should have fired up my 1,045 alt accounts to vote for you as you were definitely the discovery of my year, friend. Your level of not just technical knowledge but also passion for improving the forum supersedes that of just about anybody I've ever encountered here. The only thing negative I have to say about you is I have a hard time giving you merits because your merit-to-post ratio is already insane, and deservedly so. My hesitancy probably reflects more about me than you.

In any case, cheers. Let me know if I can make you a special Bitcoin NFT to commemorate your achievements; you might not be able to sell it for anything, but its the best I can do.

It seems we now have a candidate to count the votes in the upcoming event (I think GB will be just happy to get rid of the work that takes several days .. all he has to do is publish the results). In any case, if someone wants to appeal any results, they can do so next year.  ;)

Honestly don't have much to say other than thank you to @icopress for his contributions to keep the forum going. I can't really imagine all the work you put on to keep this forum as active as it can be, year by year, while trying new stuff. And also a big thank you to everyone who voted for me and, once again, made me win the Ninja award (or else I would be dishonored by my guild!). :)

Thank you Jambler for helping on the prize pool (already received my award!).

Congratz to my local board friend @joker_josue on his Discovery award + being a certifed fellow ninja. Very deserved.

And finally, nice to see everyone mentioning @o_e_l_e_o who will sadly not be active here for the next events. We will miss a great forum member.

I take this opportunity for thanking a lot for eveyone involved in this contest. To icopress for his very, very hard work for making this contest possible each year since 2020. Now he also made an amazing announcement about the Pizza Baking contest and some incredible prizes too! Chapeau my friend! Plus -- all the organization, finding sponsors, discussions with forum administration -- all these take time, a lot of time, patience and dedication. He is truly admirable!

I also want to thank all participants (nominees and those nominating them) for being part of this amazing contest! Thank you also for keeping the contest clean, respecting the rules more than before and for keeping clean the topic with the votes. This is an extraordinary help in counting the votes -- having that topic very clean.

I also want to thank to those which voted for me and made it possible to receive these nominations. I was simply astonished seeing all the votes I received! Thank you all for that!

I also want to thank to Jambler for their generous sponsorship! That was very kind of them and made the contest very appealing! Same thanks go to the forum administration!

I also want to thank to everybody which congratulated icopress or myself for the work done. I thank you all for such appreciations. There are just so many posts with such congratulating messages and I can't quote them all. But I thank to all for such kind words. I really felt touched...

I will address below 2 more aspects, which caught my eye within all the posts made inside this topic.

I can't comment on the alcoholic part, but shouldn't the last "2nd" be a "3rd" (for the Golden Feather)?

Why not comment on alcoholic part? :) We all have good expertize in this part =)))

Other than that, good point LV, thank you for mentioning this!

Both o_e_l_e_o and I had the same number of votes (27):

Golden Feather

fillippone (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1852120) (41), o_e_l_e_o (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1188543) (27), GazetaBitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1285797) (27), LoyceV (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=459836) (26), JayJuanGee (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=252510) (24), DdmrDdmr (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1582324) (23), The Sceptical Chymist (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=487418) (10), theymos (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=35) (9), LFC_Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=379487) (5), philipma1957 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=64507) (5), CryptopreneurBrainboss (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1052091) (4), d5000 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=85033) (4), Pmalek (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=112493) (4)

In respect for him, for all he did on the forum, I listed him in front of me, as he has all my appreciation.

Given the fact that such extraordinary situation occurred (two winners to have same votes), icopress took a very kind decision regarding the prizes and decided the following:

Also, users who get the same number of votes will share prizes among themselves (for example, if it is 2nd and 3rd place, etc.).

In short, the enumeration could have been done in any order, but this was a sign of pure appreciation for o_e_l_e_o ::)

@GazetaBitcoin: Were you responsible for counting the votes?

Yup, that was me.

If so, thanks for helping icopress (seriously), but I have to ask: Were you maybe drinking on the job, friend? Too much plastic-bottled wine? :P

Loooooooool! At same time, thank you for the appreciation and also for the good laugh :)

(The reason I ask is that if I count the votes myself I get slightly different results than yours. Maybe I'm drinking too much, I don't know; see below.)

I will (triple) check this, thank you for mentioning this to me. I can not in this very moment but I will. What I can say though is the following:

(1) Human error is possible. I am not a machine, so it is possible. I counted votes 2-3 times to make sure everything is right. (In some cases I asked icopress too.) However, even if there may be small discrepancies between your calculation and mine, they did not influence the final outcome.

(2) As stated by contest rules, some votes may have been not counted. Some nominations could have been simply breaking the rules (and on purpose I disregarded them -- example: I still counted franky1's votes for Antihero, although he merited most of the nominations, for cancelling them) while some did not meet certain criteria. So the total number of nominations within the thread, made by all users involved, is not reflected in the number of nominations shown within the table from OP, as some votes were not counted.

Thank you again for asking this question. And, as icopress already said, maybe next year you can give a hand of help too?  ;)

Sure. If it turns out I'm right, then I'll help next year. If it turns out I'm not, then you don't need my help. :D

(...)
Thanks for that really nice post, man; it made me smile! Yeah, my merit-to-post ratio probably screws me out of merit sometimes. I remember once sending a PM to TSC (TP back then) asking for his advice about a post of mine that didn't get merited. I think I even asked him (paraphrasing): "Do you reckon some people think: Fuck that guy, he has enough already!". ;D (I do appreciate getting merit, and I like having sMerit to spend, so don't be too stingy with me, yeah? Same goes for the rest of you tight-fisted bastards.) :P

Let me know if I can make you a special Bitcoin NFT to commemorate your achievements; you might not be able to sell it for anything, but its the best I can do.
Hmmm... a minted-by-nutildah PowerGlove NFT? Are you trying to set me up for an early retirement? I mean, that'll be worth a fleet of Lambos in a few years' time!! (In all seriousness, thanks for the kind offer, I appreciate it, but your post was more than enough for me.)

Congratulations to the winners. I am happy that some of my candidates made it in the category that I voted them. Hhampuz, fillippone and others, congratulations. Also, symmetric got the anti hero spot.
Congratulations to everyone who won, and got at least one vote! I hope to see some new names in the coming years! Massive fan of the yearly results, as it really does tend to get the community together, and encourage some positive results for the community.
Hardly new names emerge here, except for the discovery of the year. Maybe a space for Leo would be occupied by another person next year.
Meanwhile, it has been long I saw Welsh. It's been years and I began to wonder why I don't see you anywhere again or was it me that was hiding?
I remember my newbie days, you were correcting my newbie mistakes and also dropping me merits and you became one of the names I memorized fast.

Yet every once in a while my merit finger hand is forced and I am compelled by a higher force to give you merits; same thing goes with LoyceV & o_e_l_e_o; I resent having to give them merits but I do it anyway because its beyond my control.

Thank you all for participating! And thanks for the invitation!

We were very pleased to act as a sponsor, and in the future we hope to be directly involved in such events more often!

Congratulations to all members whos name available in the first OP page(received at least 4 votes) especially those who won the prize. I have voted after research on each title and then choose names very carefully so that I pay the full right of vote..Now I happy to see that most of them won the first place or at least third place.

Which display name will look better? Royse777Ninja, Royse777_777esyoR? I may consider updating the display name again :-D

First of all congratulates for third 🥉 position (hoping for 1st next year). I think the first one is looking better.
