It seems this news is actually outdated. The dog was elected to a ceremonial position (that probably means he does not actually have any position of power, it could be rather like a ceremonial thing for honor a person, or in this case, an animal). Also, this lovely dog (named Duke) has already passed away, according to the Wikipedia page in English I found. To me, it would seems this was actual news back in the day and for whatever reason, some webpage decided to recycle the news for the sake of making the country of the United States to look foolish in the eyes of the people of the world who are not willing to check on the authenticity of whatever they read on the internet. Even thought, I have seen even crazier things on the internet than a dog being given a honor position. We are going through times when we are not supposed to trust all we see on our screen...
