Bitmain announced on Tuesday its plans to launch the new Antminer L9 in May. The company stated on social media that the upcoming ASIC is a “peerless miner” for crypto assets such as LTC, DOGE and BEL. Currently sold out, Bitmain's L7 miner delivers 9,050 MH/s and has an energy efficiency of 0.36 J/M. At current crypto asset values and electricity costs of $0.12 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), L7 generates an estimated profit of $7 per day.

The upcoming L9 will offer 16,200 megahashes per second (MH/s) or 16.2 gigahashes per second (GH/s) hashrate. It outperforms the L7 in efficiency, achieving an energy efficiency ratio of 0.21 J/T. This improvement suggests that for the same energy costs, L9 could potentially double the daily profit compared to L7. However, the latest update from Bitmain on Tuesday did not include pricing details for the upcoming L9 model.

After 3 years, it’s time to change the ASIC for mining litecoins.
