Title: What is your biggest regret in cryptocurrency?
Post by: shanhaigamefi on April 17, 2024, 08:36:53 AM
I came across a tragic story. The protagonist of the story was looking for an alternative to PayPal in July 2010. He found BTC. At that time, the price of BTC was 10 cents, but no one bought it.Like many unfortunate stories, he put it aside, and then forgot about it until it appeared in the media in 2013.

Well at least he re-found it during 2013. The year had bitcoin going from high price to low price but it was still relatively low compared to now.

Even though that protagonist started paying attention to bitcoin when it had already hit a hundred dollars, that’s still better than finding bitcoin when it’s worth a whole house (at least in my country)

Maximum people found bitcoin in 2nd or 3rd time.
My first bitcoin buy in 2014 when the price was 400$ per btc but I understand bitcoin as a asset properly in 2017 Bull run.

Too many regret stories related to bitcoin have been discussed and you can search for them on this forum instead of creating a new topic.

I don't know how you missed out on bitcoins before, but I know you will continue to regret it even more if you don't own any bitcoins now. Additionally, having regrets and spending time reminiscing about the past will not help you get back the bitcoins you sold or lost. So use that time to collect as many bitcoins as possible, find ways to correct past mistakes, and don't let those regrets repeat themselves 10 years from now.

Bitcoin was a hidden gem during 2009-2010 and the ones who bought it back then or mined it in its early days were the lucky ones. There have been many stories of regret and each one of us regret when we didn't invest in Bitcoin.

I found about Bitcoin in 2016 when its price was below $700 but I wasn't sure about it and that's why I didn't invested any money in it. I used it for trading, but I was not sure about holding and that's why I regret that if I had invested around $45k to $60k in Bitcoin back then, now I would most probably a millionaire.

But, I'm still thankful that I found about this gem in 2016, and today I don't have any financial issues only because of Bitcoin. Our regrets can be converted in our happiness when we start doing things right from the current moment and forget about the past.

These stories are extremely common, I discovered bitcoin myself in 2011, and like many people did, I also didn't care and didn't buy it.

In fact, I had no way of knowing exactly whether it would work or not, it was practically impossible to know that it would appreciate so much. .. Cases of people from that time who kept their bitcoins in hodl until today must be very rare, because if you buy something for 0.10 and that something is worth 10 thousand dollars, it is very difficult not to want to sell.

If someone offered you to buy XZXcoin at a price of 100 USD, would you buy it? Of course not. Many did not buy Bitcoin until after 2013, and everyone who owned Bitcoin before that mined it. Therefore, if you had mined Bitcoin for free, then selling it at a price of 1-10 dollars will be good.

I sold some Bitcoin at a price of $4,000 and today its price is more than $70,000. It may be $700,000 after several years, and we will see some people saying that if the price of Bitcoin was $70,000, I would have put all my wealth in Bitcoin.

Though your story looks not complete but I got your message. the truth is that most people have regretted not buying bitcoin when it was lesser In values maybe when it was some cents not upto $1. But the truth remains that people don believe in hype or what people predict about the future until the see the results before they can believe. As at them no one would have believe that someday bitcoin would be this expensive untill now. I. Equally not happy not having enough stash of Bitcoin in my wallet because I was not informed and even if I was I form, I was a college student who depends on parents, I wouldn't have even invested on it because bitcoin is along time journey which I am not that patient to wait then, compeard to now.

I won't blame anybody who failed to buy Bitcoin at its early stage because it was a new invention. Before then people knew only fiat, so investing in something strange will be highly unlikely. It will take people who understand blockchain technology and also willing to take risks. Many people carelessly lost their keys, while some sold before the price increased and many more stories.

I don't have any regrets about my adventure in the crypto industry because it is still at its infant stage and still holds diverse opportunities. We cannot shape the past but we can take advantage of today's opportunity and plan for the future. We do not just listen or hear about these regretful stories but gain lessons which will help us make the right decisions.

I had the chance to get bitcoin at a much lower price, but in any case, I would probably have sold many... It is easier to hold now, than it was on 2013 for instance

I found bitcoin since year 2016 and one of the biggest regret that I've ever made is by not holding for too long the btc that I have, by selling it at the lower price back then and and if I think about it and look back on that incident, it's really sad because if I didn't sell it, I might have a lot of money now and I could have bought one of my goals before, but that's how life really is, there are things we really don't expect it to happen, at least we have learned and know what to do in case there is another opportunity or rising altcoin that comes out.

A good number of the people that will comment on this thread will have almost the same regrets which include but not limited to:
  • Investing in shitcoins and thereby losing money
  • Not buying Bitcoin earlier when they first heard about it
  • Not holding Bitcoin from when they started buying till date.
Many people including myself have the regrets of not simply buying and holding Bitcoin instead of investing in some shitcoins that resulted in loss. Sometimes too I do check the wallets I used when I started and most times I end up not feeling good about it when I compare how much Bitcoin have passed through the wallet. I have also been scammed a couple of times as well due to greed and quest for quick profits. These are the regrets I have had so far.

I guess that's the "basic" regret here for some of us, we have heard bitcoin early, and we didn't take interest on it until like 2017 when the price is already about in the 4 digits when I have the chance to invest on it early.

But we should move forward though, let this be a big lesson for us an for those who are not into crypto or Bitcoin, they still have the time to invest and involved themselves and learn what crypto can and will bring to their lives if they will dedicated themselves here.

I knew Bitcoin when it's price was like $300-$500 though I am only doing faucets that time because I don't have idea yet on how to buy it or other ways to accumulate more coins. And look at the price now, though I don't really know what will happen if ever I got a lot of Bitcoins that time maybe I had already sold it as well in 2016 or 2017 or when price is getting higher.

Bitcoin has always been overlooked by early adopters or hobbyists. And because of this negligence they did not hold the bitcoins carefully thus there are many people who lost their bitcoins. Now those people who are looking at the current state of Bitcoin have nothing to do but regret. I didn't buy bitcoins at the beginning of science but later bought them in the bull market of 2017 but didn't hold onto them and I still regret them a lot.

I don’t consider anything as regret, but yes the incident that I will tell you now made me value Bitcoins more than I was doing it before. So back during at 2019, I sold 1 whole bitcoins for 9000$. I expected Bitcoins won’t go above this and as I was impatient, hence I made little profit at that time by selling 1 Bitcoin. Now, I know the importance of Bitcoins, hence I am regularly accumulating it, and selling when I need emergency funds.

Like the other's mistake, having a late introduction to bitcoin, Ive been addicted in playing games, most likely the use of the computer during the era of 2011 and of course that time only know is like what other children doing playing games, and of course have a small budget that time and if i get an introduction with the bitcoin on that era i guess I invested all of my money in BTC and not too much playing games. Well its part of the regrets now, that's the time when the halving last time I make myself quite knowledgeable and profitable so this time I wont skip the upcoming halving event.

In my life, I've made some big calls that have paid off and some that didnt. Thats how business works and how life works. But why waste time thinking about "what-ifs"? Thats for people who lose. Did you miss the early days of Bitcoin? Most people did the same thing. Smart play doesnt cry over it; it knows how the game works. Thats the real win: each cycle taught me more about the market and technology. You people worry about lost money, but Im worried about what I've learned. That is how nations are made. I got smarter with every move, good or bad. People who cant see the big picture or change are the ones who feel regret.

Well that's exactly my story and my biggest regret till date. I actually found out about bitcoin in late 2009 but didn't buy it. Also I have a decent desktop that time which I could have used to mine bitcoin. But later I discovered it in 2015 and staying with it till date.

I could have been a millionaire today but I am still working to live a comfortable life!

Most of us may have this kind of story to tell, whereby some have the opportunity of making early investment in which they ignore while some were not given that same privilege, but only discover about bitcoin at their own appropriate time after getting exposure, for sure, we may all have wish that we are part of the early investors, but there are opportunities that appears in the early stage whereby we don't give close attention to, thinking it may amount to nothing at the end, some of us may not be willing of taking risk on them, but later to discover they have potentials that could have served us with what we want, this is how bitcoin was, from it early days, some missed the opportunity by their refusal while some were not aware it ever existed until now.

The only one I regret about bitcoin is I keep doubting on it at first, I doubt about this coin since at first I really don't know how to use and earn it, also it always been associated on crimes that's why before I really think its illegal to acquire this. Also if I grab some amount or volume from the past for sure it gives me a huge profit already. But things goes by and that's the mistake in the past which is somehow unavoidable since its normal to think that way especially if there's no one mentoring us.

What's important right now is our action we need made since this can determine if we can earn profit. Right now its better to forget about the past mistake and wrong thinking then let should focus on current since lots of chance for us or opportunity to earn.

There are two foolishness of mine:
1. Allowing my assets to continue to decrease due to holding for too long. I once had 1.5BTC assets that I spread over several coins. But it turned out that the coins I held were not able to survive even some exchanges eliminated them.
2. Unknowingly tell my prifatkey to the public when filling in data on google form. This resulted in my assets in the MEW being lost having no remaining.

If you ask anyone is the same thing that everyone will say, that they regretted not buying bitcoin earlier when bitcoin price was not up to 100usd. Of course, it is something that one must regret over because of the way bitcoin value has increased withing 14 yrs.

I have no regrets on knowing and investing in bitcoin when I started my crypto journey, because I was happy that I was able to discover the right coin to invest which will be the future best investment with highest ROI overtime. I will say that I am lucky, because some people are still ignorant of the potential of bitcoin, and they still stick to fiat investments and saving money in the bank.

Many stories make us sad because we didn't buy Bitcoin when the price was still low, even though we knew about Bitcoin. We never thought Bitcoin could exist until now and its price could rise so high. That's because we often underestimate new things that don't look interesting.

Even if we bought Bitcoin for $10, we definitely would have a lot of Bitcoin. And if we had kept it until now, we would have become multimillionaires and beat the big people who had already become multimillionaires. But we never considered trying it and only realized it when Bitcoin increased.

We made a mistake, and now we realize it. But we can still have Bitcoin, even though we have difficulty having a lot of It. At least we can still try to have Bitcoin. Never give up on the situation and continue to buy Bitcoin.

If he missed out in 2009, but had the opportunity to invest again in 2013, then he should be happy because it was still very much early. As at then, Bitcoin was being sold for less than a thousand dollars and comparing it with today's price, that's a lot of money. Some persons didn't get back in until 2021, so there shouldn't be any regrets except he decided to sell off everything.

Everyone has a story related to cryptocurrency and they regret why they did not took a precise decision. I have also the same situation and if I say my biggest mistake will not be wrong, and I am sharing it with you. Well at the start of Bitcoin I did not have that much growth to make my own decisions I mean I was a child, I first came to know Bitcoin a little bit in 2019 when one of my friends told me about it but until that, I started looking and gathering more and more information. But the biggest mistake I was that I did not invest in BTC when the price was low, at that time I was willing to invest but unfortunately, I had zero capital. Now I have some money and want to invest but the price is too high for me and now I regret why I did not invest before

I don't have any specific regrets, but I admit that I've made some mistakes. One was keeping some Ethereum in a custodial wallet that was very popular at that time but performed an exit scam (or was actually hacked, hard to say). I got my 40% reimbursement in the early days after the incident and still made decent profit out of it (because I bought that Ethereum for under $20), but it was an unfortunate situation. Another was with Bitcoin, and I had around $900 worth of BTC in 2017 when the price was over $15k. But the fees were very high (around $20), so I didn't sell at that point. I eventually sold it all (because I needed to) at a loss, for around half the price during the bear market.
What's important is to learn from mistakes, instead of focusing on regret.

My biggest regret is why I didn't find out about Bitcoin earlier. Had I known about Bitcoin much earlier, I might have invested much more in Bitcoin today. Another regret I have is that I was not able to invest enough amount in early 2023 when the price of Bitcoin was very low, although I did invest some amount. However, those who haven't yet invested in Bitcoin negligently, like me, will regret it at some point in the future. The price of Bitcoin will increase much more in the future so if one does not want to regret in the future then one should start investing now. In 2025, many more will regret it.

Everyone must have experienced a story of regret about Bitcoin because of the reasons for not doing it at that time or when the price of Bitcoin was still low or cheap, and mostly because of doubts and so on. But the most important thing in the end is that we do it immediately rather than not doing it at all, the best opportunity to change our lives, especially in financial terms.
Actually, I have known about Bitcoin since 2011 because several of my friends were already involved, but I ignored it because the price was very cheap and after the next few years, I saw the price of Bitcoin continue to increase. And besides that, some of my friends always talk about Bitcoin every time we get together, and in the end I tried asking my friends to explain it and finally I was interested and started getting involved in early 2017 until now.
And I think this is a common regret for people both here and out there.

I have known bitcoin for quite a long time but only really followed in 2016 and increasingly focused on 2018/2019 but I personally do not regret what has happened because in my opinion all have their own life paths because it could be that those who do not have confidence in bitcoin from the beginning are currently in bitcoin and are starting to focus on bitcoin because however long bitcoin continues to move and only regrets are always thought of then things like that will never end. Therefore I will only focus on what I am doing regardless of whether knowing this from the beginning or starting in the middle of bitcoin that has risen too high it will not matter because we cannot turn back time and regret will only result in us being stuck in the past but not taking any action in the present because it considers bitcoin to be high considering the benchmark we know it is still very low before.

For me it's not a tragic story because I didn't even know about bitcoin in 2013, so he found out about it, forgot it, came back to it and in the end still was a market participant long before me and many other people.

He was before Michaels Saylor, before SBF, before China banned BTC exchanges and before Karpeles caused one of the biggest crashes in the history of bitcoin. I wish I was a bitcoiner back then.

My biggest regret is exactly that. Not being a very early adopter. Not even knowing the name. Imagine that before 2014 I've never even heard the word bitcoin.

Truly something which is really that hard to resist such temptation specially if you have bought on that less dollar price and seen its price goes to 10k or even with that 19k ATH on previous bull run then you would really be definitely selling it out. This is why into those people who are still that holding until this very moment are really truly considered to be OG's or really that having diamond hands on which not all people would really be able to do so specially holding for a decade+. When it comes to regret then just like with most people is that on the time that i do hear it out on my college days about Bitcoin but i did make out that direct conclusions that this might be an another some sort of scam but here we are now, im still that been haunted by that past on which i have those kind of imagining that i might be sitting or driving in a lambo now if i did able to purchase a few hundreds or thousands of coins on the time that i do hear it but well thats just that a waste opportunity.

I am sure most people’s biggest regret when it came to cryptocurrency was that they didn’t buy enough of a coin or sometimes they didn’t sell at a proper time. It’s usually just this or that

Quote
I don't know how you missed out on bitcoins before,
Well not every country was exposed to bitcoin and you’d pretty much have to be in an exclusive circle for you to get to know about bitcoin.

But now that we do know bitcoin and have an access to it now, we can turn those regrets into happiness. We can not turn back time so you are right let’s focus on the future

This, I can get that sometimes people will regret on the opportunities they missed during their lifetime, like missing on the person of their dreams or an amazing investment like bitcoin, but that is not going to help anyone at all, as long as you have time left you can still create the life you want for yourself, and for that you need to work as hard as possible and make an effort to not miss those opportunities anymore, as even if bitcoin is many times more expensive now, it can still give greater profits than most assets you can find in most markets.

My biggest regret in crypto in not being involved at the time am suppose to be but at a time I come to realize that no matter how late you think you are in this journey, you might actually be late because you being involved is dependent on how enlightened, prepared and interested you were during the time you got the information, though the price of Bitcoin was very affordable when it first came out many people min for free and also  bought in at affordable rate but that should not prevent anyone from buying now, lets not forget that there are different strategy that helps individuals that are interested in investing in crypto to invest, you can actually purchase through DCA which is very easy for anyone that is interested, Bitcoin has dropped many times there by making it possible for investors to embrace the opportunity to accumulate as much as they can, in conclusion I dont see any regret again, some people could not afford it then and now the can, so i think what those set of persons should be doing now is to forget about  the past and face the present by investing now that the opportunity avails itself.

At that time, the price of BTC was 10 cents, but no one bought it.Like many unfortunate stories, he put it aside, and then forgot about it until it appeared in the media in 2013.
It is the nature of every human being that he hesitates to adopt something that he has not experienced and it is the same here that when people first saw Bitcoin, everyone thought that it was just a lay coin. It's like What did these people think? That Bitcoin will really show a miracle that no one has done better in history. The majority of people ignored this and that was the reason why people are regretting taking Bitcoin.

I also regret why I didn't grab Bitcoin earlier, but I realized that the behavior of a real man is not to take one thing and be grateful for it, but to make this mistake the subject of the next opportunity. So better don't try to miss it. Bitcoin still provides opportunity If I ask who bought bitcoin at the level of $15,476 in this previous bear market, then the majority of people will say no, we didn't buy, that's the only thing that most people don't. Understand and regrat these people at work. I say gratify; it is the work of women and children that they cry when they don't get anything, real man makes every opportunity an opportunity for himself. As of now, he is a real man who has bought Bitcoin at the bottom and is happy to see his profit at $74,000 today.

An asset's value changes from time to time. It might go up or down as well. But from my experience, most of the assets value is increasing, like land or gold. So Bitcoin values change from time to time. We won't have a fixed goal for our cryptocurrency. It was above $70K, and many haven't sold. But Bitcoin is trading at $60K now, and many have been selling. However, at the beginning, Bitcoin wasn't very popular, and there wasn't much adaptation. So people offer it cheaply. Now, Bitcoin has gained a wide range of popularity, and many more people are familiar with it. So ultimately, new buyers are coming and prices have been increasing. My plan is to sell when I have a noticeable profit from crypto that could improve my lifestyle.

A long time ago while I was still a student at the university, a friend told me about Bitcoin and how it is the new money making scheme. I laughed it off because I have heard of different online platforms where people earned cool money from but those sites ended up crashing and lots of money were lost. Why would cryptocurrency investment be any different?

Few years after graduation, I met another friend who is into crypto and he is doing so well for himself. Then I realised I missed an opportunity the first time but this time, I'm not going to let it go. Since I took that decision I have had no regrets,  I only regret not embracing Bitcoin when I first had the opportunity because I would have made higher returns than  I am making now. Bitcoin is real and I am a witness to it.

It's normal to see those stories that they've regret not buying Bitcoin when it was on the earliest days of it. Can't blame anyone for that when they've seen or heard BTC about it.

That was like the glory days of internet scams and that's why whatever they see in internet asking for investments or if it's required to invest, majority avoids it as that's the concept of scams without diving deep to what actually Bitcoin is.

All of us have the same regret, if it's not about buying early, it was selling too early.
