Title: Santa is in town? Price upswing!
Post by: stick_theman on December 20, 2011, 04:59:44 AM
Are people buying BTC as gifts for Christmas? (Good idea, good idea, good idea!)  The price's almost doubled compared to two months ago.

People are getting excited over that.

http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/mtgoxUSD_depth.html

Buy side was HUGE earlier.

It went from 3.6 to 3.8 in 20 mins. Now it is at 4.10.

Deja vu?

This is total speculation and has nothing to do with the development of bitcoin. I would BUY BUY BUY then right before the day of the episode SELL SELL SELL

Bullish!  I'm getting my girlfriend a physical bitcoin for Christmas.  Not a baller for the 1000 BTC gold bar yet.  LOL

Looks like all the miners are re-firing up their rigs.

Most of my gifts this year are physical bitcoins so this is definitely a pleasant surprise. Makes traditional money look even more weak.

You do realize that for most people they are the equivalent of Chuck-E-Cheese tokens, right?

Do you realize that perhaps the people I'm giving them to are not most people? Maybe they already know about bitcoins because I've explained it to them and perhaps they will understand the physical coins as well. It's not like I'm giving Christmas gifts to random people anyway.

This is good news for me as a miner lol.:-)

Looks like I'll have another xmas present. Mining is valuable again.Maybe I can finally add my old GPU back into my PC with the current GPU (HD6950) to eek out every last hash my PSU can handle from the 2 GPUs in my PC in addition to my MBP and other computers I can use. :-)

I think I'll set my price for £17-£25 per BTC I sell maybe it'll encourage more miners from UK to take part.

Maybe you can help me with that goal macintosh. What some people tend to do (that I heard of) is sell BTC for way higher on the exchange than they are now (in my case £25 per BTC instead of current rates in £).Then when all cheap BTC dries up (because everyone will buy up all cheap BTC like crazy),the markets will be forced to respond to the trend and that of course will jack up the prices which will be good for you,me and all miners.

I hope this info helps explain what I've seen from before.I could of course be wrong on how the markets react. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.

If you would have bought an additional $100 worth at $3, you'd have 40.3 BTC with an average price of $4.95.... not too bad.

If you would have bought an additional $100 worth at $2, you'd have 57  BTC with an average price of $3.5... currently in the money :).

Dollar cost averaging ftw.  It will probably be back to $14, but I wouldn't count on it this year ;).
