We are experimenting with crypto's first variable block reward update designed to dynamically adjust the emission rate.

Specifically, the reward will be 20,800 BGZ distributed at a pseudo-random interval.

This approach introduces an element of unpredictability in the block generation timing, deviating from traditional fixed-interval reward systems. The pseudo-randomness is achieved through a deterministic algorithm that incorporates on-chain entropy, ensuring verifiability while maintaining a degree of unpredictability for external observers.

Further details regarding the specific algorithm and its parameters will be outlined in a future whitepaper.

Bitcoin GenZ Improvement Proposal - ZIP #2 BTC

The proposed BGZ framework aims to soft peg its value to the average miner value of BTC ($436K), a target that is itself a calculated metric subject to fluctuations based on Bitcoin's market capitalization and the estimated number of miners. This inherent variability in the soft peg target introduces a target to maintaining a stable price for BGZ.

The average miner value is not a fixed constant but rather a moving target that will fluctuate with Bitcoin's price and the dynamics of the mining network.

To implement a soft peg for BGZ to this target, several mechanisms could be considered. One possibility is an algorithmic validator adjustment mechanism embedded in the network infrastructure. This could monitor BGZ's miner count relative to the reported average Bitcoin miner value (obtained via an oracle) and automatically adjust the security of BGZ to bring its value in line with BTC.

Another approach could involve collateralizing BGZ with BTC or other assets to provide a fundamental backing for its value. But this would introduce unnecessary speculation. The variable we are attempting to alleviate.
