Title: Is this a good mhash/s on ATi HD 5770?
Post by: Clarithium on April 08, 2011, 01:38:12 AM
I'm getting around 72 constant, is this a decent speed for this card? No real forum post seems to be accurate with me on where I should be at...

I am running the poclbm-gui miner on slush's pool. Also, is there any better miner that I should be using? I really liked this one because it has a GUI and I have enough command-line bs to deal with right now with my coding classes.

What miner are you using?
On my 5750 i got about 115 Mhash/s with poclbm.

Okay, seems to be the same im using.

are you using the extra flags "-v -w128"?

Yes :/ Thats what the Extra Flags box told me to do. I even optimized the clockspeed, fanspeed, and memory (took about an hour but 72.2 was the most i could get out of my card)

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_Hardware_Comparison (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_Hardware_Comparison)

5770 sits at around 150 Mhash/s there

try checking what version of the ati sdk you have.

seems most get the best result with 2.2

Hope it helps mate

I was getting 190 Mhash/s on an overclocked 5770 under linux with m0mchil's miner (no GUI).

I pushed one to 202 but not stable for long (<5 mins). Dropped back to 188 stable. The rest of our stock 5770's run 170, I haven't got around to tweaking them.

I can't seem to push it over 110 mhash/s... No matter the overclocking I do. I pushed it pretty far but I don't want to blow the card.  Any suggestions?

I'm doing +/- 172 Mhash/s in deepbit with extra flags -v -w128 -f1. Try not to use anything that will use GPU power like see youtube, some movies, etc.. because it will down the Mhash/s.
I have it with a 5770 overclocked 925/1200.
Without oc it's about 150 Mhash/s +/-

Does the pool i'm using affect it?

Does your CPU multiplier decrease when it's idling?

I don't kwow. It have been only 5 days since I'm mining and I have only mine in deepbit, I haven't try any other. But I think it won't affect, it's the speed your GPU works, it shouldn't be affected by the pool you are mining. I supose  :P

No.

And FoS, about how many BTC did you make in that time on Deepbit's pool? It almost seems better at this point (judging from other threads).

I have done about 12 BTC in this 5 days 24/7 but I have been reading that it also depends of the luck, some days you get more and some days less. I will have an opinion about the end of the month :P

Send me a PM when you get that opinion  :P Might just tip you for it ;]

My 5770 tops out about 183 Mh/s at 960 Mhz using -v -w128 -f2...

Your speeds are low for a 5770. I have the same one and am using the same GUI as you (I wrote it, hehehe) and I get 164 MHash/s at stock clocks and 180 MHash/s when overclocked.

My guess is that you have some program running that is causing the GPU to downclock. For example, if I have Youtube open then my GPU clock goes down to 400 MHz and my hashrate plummets to 70 MHash.

If you have the Catalyst Control Center installed, you should give it a look at the GPU clock and see if it's 400 MHz, or if it's at the regular 850 MHz.

Hope this helps :)

Damn Kiv, you are the man.  If I jack it up to 950, It goes to 71 again. If I put it down at 400, its still at 71.  But 850 seems to be the sweet spot.

Tipable reply. Thank you :]

**EDIT: Holy poop your the one who made the GUI. Now you're getting a tip.  Thank you so much for making an efficient way to get BTC.
