Title: Bitcoin Promotional Brochures
Post by: BradZimdack on December 27, 2011, 12:06:58 AM
I've made a simple tri-fold brochure designed to introduce new users to the general concepts of Bitcoin.  It doesn't go into any technical detail, but it covers a few of the main points (i.e. it's a decentralized online currency; limited supply; has actual cash value).  So far, it seems to be an effective way to help describe what it's all about when I'm trying to explain Bitcoin to someone new.

With financial support from a few sponsors (bitbrew.net, sealswithclubs.org, cheaperinbitcoins.com), I've had a batch of these professionally printed.  If anyone else wants some, I've put an order form at:

It'd be nice if we could read the content...

Maybe have those as click-able links somewhere on the same page ?

Thanks !

Excellent idea, it's handy to have it sit around as a reminder on the table rather than a video in a browser window which gets closed and forgotten.

Not sure if the hot babe is such a good image to front the brochure, I would have thought a contemplative small-businessman or even a guy in a suit would have better suited. Not sure what your target market is, but perhaps have several versions of it with various images so that (for example) I don't have to give my sister who runs a small business a copy of a hot 'callgirl' babe on the front.

Also the examples you provide via web links of existing businesses using bitcoin is great, and necessary to validate the concept, however two links to the same gambling site in the one brochure gives the wrong impression - most target audiences that I know of would prefer not to see any reference to gambling businesses, and having two identical links makes it look like the brochure is biased toward that one gambling business, and gives too heavy a bias to that side of bitcoin in the audiences mind.

But on the whole an excellent idea and very nicely executed. Some various options so people can choose the most appropriate brochure for their target audience would be really great.

tl;dr - please give a variety of cover images, and provide a variety of example business links (ie non-gambling)

First, I like it!

Secondly, I wish I wasn't going to bed now, for I would love to add my thought to this thread, but I'm tired.

Hello.  I realize this thread is old and dead, but the other day I did not, and assumed the brochures were still available for purchase, without even asking.  Whoops.  Anyway I sent the payment to the address for 6 brochures and they have arrived and I'm here to post my experience with my first-ever Bitcoin purchase.

First off, though I coulda swore I ordered 6 (two orders of 3), I received 8.  Sweet.
Second, I noticed off the bat that the envelope they arrived in was heavily worn and torn wide open, though no contents were missing (unless something aside from the brochures themselves was included).  On this I figure someone saw "PayMyAddress.com" part of the return address and thought there might be money inside and ripped it open to see.  Luckily that's not quite what PayMyAddress means.  Also the color Bitcoin logo part of the return address was awesome to see, if the envelope wasn't so ripped and worn I'd want to hang on to it just for that.  Very pro.

The brochures themselves were in absolute pristine condition, not even a fingerprint.  The design is very professional, and they look really good.  The paper they are printed on is the same good quality stock I see professional dentist office type brochures printed on all the time, except I get to learn about Bitcoins instead of Gingivitis.  Even seeing all the photos prior to my order, I gotta say, I was very much impressed at how well done these are.

Aside from all that, I can't really find anything to whine about.  Even if I stretch.  PayMyAddress's brochures exceeded my expectations by quite a bit, and except for the torn envelope (that I doubt was their fault), this transaction could not have gone better.  And I got two extra for free!

Anyway this is probably an overly lengthy writeup for an order of brochures that cost two bitcents (or whatever 0.02btc is called) but I felt I should bump this ancient thread as the brochures are still available and still very useful to introduce collegues and such to the convenience that bitcoin provides.  And my landlord, I have one of these marked for her.  Rent by Bitcoin, if I can convince her =D.  And yes, I'll mention bitpay.

Thanks for the service, PayMyAddress!

Also one strange thing I noticed, maybe I'm reading it wrong.

On the Brochure Order Page, 3 brochures are listed as 0.01 BTC, yet 12 of them are listed as 0.05 BTC.

But if I order the 3 for 0.01, four times, I'll have gotten 12 brochures for only 0.04 BTC, saving me a bitcent.

At first I thought maybe there's an order limit to prevent this, and larger orders require more effort and get a markup (though usually higher quantity = lower price per unit), except I noticed that 100 brochures cost 0.18 BTC, which is a rather large bulk discount, and makes that 12 for 0.05 extra strange.

At this point I assume it's just a typo or math error, but it's got my brain going.  Clearly I'm just very bored =)

I would have ordered 100 but the preview image links are broken so I have no idea what I'm getting.
