Title: [ANN] Ara Whitepaper - the blockchain criticism and potential solution Post by: medet_ahmetson on April 10, 2026, 04:42:05 PM Hey, guys.
The whitepaper opens with criticism of blockchain at fundamental level. Five reasons why it didn't become Web3 yet. Then it outlines a solution that reorients blockchain as a protocol agreement and decentralized recommendation engine. What I propose is to use blockchain as the semantic layer with the discovery mechanism, along with cryptocurrency networks as Bitcoin. It keeps the semantics of the open-source software, allowing users a software ownership: mashup as Lego bricks, or change them beyond what developers provided. While, in return the network funds, and helps to craft the open-source as a sustainable backbone of the Internet. Criticism is welcome, but only lurkers so far. :) Whitepaper (https://ara.foundation/ara.pdf) released under public domain --- - The website: Website (https://ara.foundation) - This post is about the technical part, and anything related to the blockchain. Criticism is welcome so is collaboration. - For the Ara's vision check out the Feeling of Computing thread (https://feelingofcomputing.slack.com/archives/CCL5VVBAN/p1776254574049909) (requires sign in to read/write). - For the Ara from the open-source perspective visit the SustainOSS discourse (https://discourse.sustainoss.org/t/aras-sustainability-model-make-user-centric-software-and-refactor-to-mvc/1819) (requires sign in to write). --- Sincerely, Medet Ahmetson Linkedin (https://linkedin.com/in/ahmetson) |
