Hi, Im loving the release so far, Running beta 1.3.1, only problem so far is there is no data displayed for Temp/GPU/Mem speeds, hashing Darkcoin wtih 5xR290's @ 11.8GH

EDIT: After doing a planned reboot, all data is displayed properly!

Does anyone know if the WU rate is important with X11 coins?

I have copied pimp 1.3.1beta from linux and windows vista to 3 different USB drives.  None will boot on 3 different rigs/diff mobos.  When I check the USB with Gparted the flag is set to boot but it does not boot, (I do not get "No Boot Device Found" error) but it still does not boot.  These rigs will boot with BAMT 1.3, 1.6, Cryptoslax and Xubuntu64.  I am sure this is something way simple, any ideas?

Have just installed this on 36 rigs and I must say, I am not going back! the simplicity of this os is stunning.

I do get a few issues with cards dropping out after a reboot, but firstboot seems to fix them.

I really want to try this pIMP, but having problems making the PIMP USB boot.  I write the image (copy the linux terminal command from getpimp.org to write image) so I know I am doing exactly as instructed.  Everything is there and the boot flag is checked but my rigs wont boot on the USB.  I can take the exact same USB and write a BAMT/SMOS/Cryptoslax image and they all boot, but for some reason the PIMP USB will not boot  (tried 8 & 16 GB USB).  I have not seen ANY other comments like this, so I know it is me.  Can someone offer suggestions of what I should check so I can figure this out??  THANKS!!!

I think it was making the boot sector the wrong size.

Loving PiMP! I'm a newb and started messing around with BAMT and SMOS, both which had issues. PiMP was just easy. It worked right out of the box and I'm loving it. Thanks for spending so much time on this! Once I get some coins, I'll be sure to send a donation your way!

I'm using the bee version of SMOS and it's been goin good so far. I connect to the miningrig through my desktop's browser and just change the Cgminer Config through the webinterface.
That's very simple to me, since i just make my configs in a .txt file (windows) and just copy paste to that webinterface. Then press restart and BAM, it's running what i want.
The only thing i'd like to change is to be able to run other things than just scrypt. AND i'd like to keep it simple as it is now. Is this possible with PIMP?
Can i just press a button through the webinterface from my desktop, making the miningrig change it's mining algorithm? or how is this best done the easiest way, from my desktop in windows?
I'm pretty n00b with linux.

Sounds great, I'd like to do this but is there any way you could take me (us) by the hand and tell step by step how to implement this in PIMP, with still being able to use it with all functions including the PoolManager?

really just replace sgminer or sph-sgminer with mine then use --algorithm to set the desired algo and -k for the different scrypt kernels

algo's: scrypt, nscrypt, scrypt-jane, darkcoin, qubitcoin, myriadcoin-groestl, quarkcoin, fuguecoin, inkcoin, animecoin, groestlcoin, sifcoin, twecoin, and maurcoin
scrypt kernels: alexkarnew, alexkarold, ckolivas, psw, zuikkis

and for the cpu coin diff problems, most are fine but if you get low diff shares or the diff seems way too high you can use --difficulty-multiplier to manually set the multiplier
the 3 settings are 256, 1.0, and 0.0039062500 (1/256)
if you get low shares the try 1 or 256
if too large the 1 or 0.0039062500

most of the time you wont need this though

to install to an existing pimp installation

nano sph-sgminer.sh
then put this in the file

ctrl+x to close the file and hit y when asked
then chmod +x sph-sgminer.sh
and finally ./sph-sgminer.sh

Does anyone have the default settings scrypt-n?

Just a quick question: do I need to setup settings for GPUs (I have r9 280x)? Or are they preconfigured in system and I do not have to do anything about it (things like core, memory, thread concurency, intensity etc.)?

Another one: is this BAMT based? Do I get standard linux desktop / menus to setup IPs? I do not have DHCP, I need to add IP to my rig manually.

How do I replace a bamt installation with pimp?
I've plugged in my usb back into my windows machine, but I can't access the drive.
I probably need to wipe it, sd formatter doesn't recognize the usb drive, but  bootice does.

Has anyone got any proper instructions. Or a better method.

Could some on help me out why i cant get PIMP to run on h81 BTC pro board - it work fine when i run without GPU, plug in GPU with usb riser and  the load screen loads, ( select to start pimp or start save mode)   then it start loading to ram , then turn off , - Like i said it work prefect in the same usb and port  without GPU but crash when  plug in the GPU ( Rig work fine with windows miner)

I overwrote my LTCRabbit-station-usb with PiMP yesterday evening, because it kept bringing the GPU's into standby mode, and it immediately worked since first boot! A few minutes later I changed it to mining Darkcoin at and it surprised me by giving me a higher WU than I have ever been able to tweak from those graphic cards on my Windows computer.

Try to increase your "gpu-threads" to 2 or 4. First with a much lower intensity (13), then increase it gradually again while monitoring that you don't get any HW errors.

Another thing that did it for me was setting the "gpu-engine" to 947 and "gpu-memclock" to 1250, but this is specific for my card and you might want to have a look at https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison (https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison) to get an idea about tweaks for your card.

It's a good idea to SSH (with Putty if you're on Windows) into the rig to adjust the intensity live, as in without rebooting.

Please, help me. I used to run Pimp without any problems. Now I am having issues with two rigs, both running Gigabyte 270 cards on Biostar HB61 mobo.

Basically Pimp gets booted in text mode. On exact same computer using exact same USB stick, it no longer boots in graphical mode. The only thin that I have touched was UTP cable that I have change from one switch to the other router. But even if I switch cable back, Pimp stays in the same text mode.

PIMPED my rigs for a while and will donate some more soon.

Type "ifconfig" to get the rig's ipaddress, it's probably giving you the ip when you log in as well.

use this number from the webbrowser on another computer on your home-network and do all the config from there.

I have a rig that I have tried pretty much all of the BaMT distros on, including PiMP.

It has a 5870 and a 6950 in it.

In windows with SG miner I can get a stable 420kh on the 5870 and 480kh on the 6950.

I've literally spent days with all of the different distros adjusting core/mem speeds, etc.

No matter what the best I've been able to get is 330kh on the 5870 and 420kh on the 6950 and they fluctuate all over the place +/- 30kh in either direction.

Has anyone been able to achieve the same speeds on one of the distros as they have in windows stably with no fluctuation?

The current pimpupdate script will break the web interface, so what I did was from terminal to shut down the mining process and manually copy /opt/ifmi/cgminer.x11.conf to /opt/ifmi/cgminer.x11mod.conf and edit it to the "x11mod" kernel
Then I just start with
cd /opt/sph-sgminer_x11mod
./sgminer -c /opt/ifmi/cgminer.x11mod.conf

That will also make the web-interface come to life again so you can see temperatures and so on

It's a temporary fix, but it will give you at least 50% extra while you are waiting for the proper release

no, it's not safe. I tried to update to get X13 to prepare for OPEC coin, but now can't get to the web interface again and I'm doing everything by command line there now

Not having much luck with PIMP 1.4.2 on an Asrock H81 Pro BTC motherboard with 6 Sapphire 270's using powered PCI-E USB risers. After boot up xorg shoots the CPU up to 100% for about 3 minutes. Then I get the following fault. I can RDP into the desktop.


Also, when starting any miner they lock up after printing out "Starting miner". A kill -9 will not even kill them. I have to reboot the machine. This machine worked fine using the SMOS distro. Any ideas?

Current version of PiMP doesn't support the A88X chipset. Please fix this. I had PiMP v1.5.4 on two flash drives, all gave unsupported chipset errors.

I don't believe you want to go to 14.6 a lot of people are reporting open cl is broken. It may show an increased hash rate but reports are they get all hw errors. But if you do try let us know :)

It didn't work for me, I had to lug my rig out of the closet and hook it up to a cat-5 to then install the drivers for the wireless dongle.

FYI: Pimp 1.5.5-amd-14.4 version fixed the issues with the above box. Now happily mining on Nicehash X11/X13 auto-switching pool.

Sup fellow PiMPs, I also wrote on the Facebook page as well.. After tons of testing and frustration I have found that I cannot achieve the hashrates on my 79xx's with PiMP that I can on BAMT 1.4 (catalyst 12.8). I've tested all kinds of mining configs and kernels just to be certain, but after a few days of back and forth I am convinced that I won't be able to achieve my previous hashrates unless Catalyst 12.8 drivers are present. I tried installing them myself manually into PiMP, but ended up making more trouble and breaking stuff. I'm sure I could get it right with a lot more experimenting but I just don't have the time. Would anyone be kind enough to throw together a version with 12.8 for us legacy PiMPs? With BAMT 1.4 and the drivers and miner it contains, I'm getting a consistent 40k more per card than I can squeeze out of PiMP, so it's not a hugely significant loss but it does add up!

Yes, most adapters work without issue... That brings me back to my last post, I am eager to ditch BAMT because of that reason, I have to reinstall pretty often because of my crappy USB sticks, and I have to manually reinstall my wifi driver every time. PiMP detected it straight away and it took all of 1 minute to get set up and running headless.

Shall try 1.4.2 on 2-3 miners. Sorted connection problems, found solution on forums. Also after some time pool manager stops to lag and is very reasonable, and farmview is working too. Didn't know problem is in banner, shall delete it when I find time. But question is: why did we receive update for 1.5.5 that says it fix things when it does not? Anyway, I like it on first sight and shall try it, with hope 1.5.5 will be polished in few days. I like thought every miner I had to install manually in SMOS/BAMT, here I receive with simply "pimpupdate". Good work, if I find it usefull after 7-10 days, shall donate to contribute to project.

And why would you need such an option, when PIMP/SMOS/BAMT are made to work best in headless mode? Make good root password, so no one can log to miners remotely and you are good. I am sure you would have serious problems in running miners while logged off.

Have been using PiMP to mine DRK on my little ole Asus 7870 for about a week straight now without incident.

My mining rig is running in a datacenter, away from me and I do not want a curious datacenter personnel to attach a monitor and see an unlocked root desktop. it's a security risk.

anyway, I've solved that problem. The miner needs logged in desktop to run, so I've installed xautolocak and slock packages from debian repos and added these two lines in /root/.fluxbox/startup file:

xautolock –time 1 –locker slock &
su root -c slock

Now the rig boots and immediately locked, when I attach a monitor all I see a blank screen. This is enough security. I need to enter root password from keyboard to see the desktop.

I've been running PiMP 1.5.5 14.4 for a couple of days now, mining X11, and most things seem great, except for a couple of issues.

I'm seeing a huge number under the "Discarded" value on the pool stats screen, and this number is constantly growing.  I don't know what this means, and it's a bit worrying.  I'm confused though, as everything else seems fine, the pool I'm mining at is registering my hashrate, my balances on my miner stats page there are growing, I got paid this morning, I have no HW errors and my rejects are low.

So what could that number mean, and do I need to worry about it?

Never noticed that for more than 2 weeks of using PIMP, but its same here. But because everything is OK I think that are stales or work discarded due expire. As for the graphs - I never had this issue, did You try to restart rig? 2 minutes of downtime is not big deal, until You want to make record  ;)

1.5.5 & bootmining:

Well, crontab caught us in a catch22, as such we are moving away from crontab for controlling miner startup.

Graphing issue: known issue but does not affect all machines, again 99% related to crontab, this is also moving to a daemon.

Farmview: x11mod miner breaks farmview. so farmview probably will not work properly when using these profiles, and possibly some newer builds of sgminer.

Never fear though, something much better for farm overview is coming soon (~1 week) and a pimpupdate will replace farmview and install the new solution for you :)

BUT put 2 x G-Blades on to test - they are there in #~ lsub

BUT Seedmanager (cgminer-4.3-gridseed) does not detect them - checkconf /opt/ifmi/blah blah.conf returns "ok" but no go.

I make new file with txt editor, called for example 100x11-mine_start. Into that file write only plain "mine start" (no "" ofc). make file executabile (chmod 755 "file name"). 100 in name is order for command to run (last one is 99x if you look at folder). That means 100x shall be last to execute. Working so far for me. When you try to remote desktop, you will get screen with white terminal. Write "exit" in terminal and you get remote desktop.

I'm planning to try this distro out this weekend and was wondering if I needed to run aticonf to initialize my gpu's?  Also, my rig is a frankenrig, does the default config have any specifics (such as shaders, thread-concurrency, and gpu+mem clock preset (If so I'll hunt it down and edit it on another system before booting)? Looks good, I can't wait to try it.

If you use the terminal and type "sc" (no quotation marks) it'll get you to the miner's terminal window.

I have the question: what is the mode without desktop, when I start PIMP first time? It is mode without Xserver?
I'm asking because my 7790\260X hashrates is to low and unstable on PIMP\BAMT (1000kh vs 1200kh on Windows), and one time it was increase to 1200kh, when i start PIMP at first time without X by SSH command. It was stable and more higher, why? How i can use this mode? Now X is starting immediately.

On 1.5.51 and catalyst 14.6 works well. Everyone GPU is stable and a little less then Windows (-100Kh on X11). Great work, little donated for devs.

Just installed Pimp 1.5.51 AMD 14.6, the beta version zip file on the downloads page.

However, according to the terminal it's not running 14.6 drivers.

Terminal displays: PiMP Version:    pimp1.5.51-amd-14.4

Is there a way to check which drivers are actually loaded?

It is 14.6 for sure, since x11/x13 can get boost with 14.6 only. So don't worry if you get boost in performance (I know I got almost 50% boost).

if i start it from there it runs till the next screen update then closes....
as long as i dont try to check my miner via poolmanager it runs fine

Hey guys, I'm using PiMP for some time, and it used to be stable on older versions.
With 1.5.5.1 Beta and 1.5.6 it happened to me a few times that I can't access my rigs both from LAN network (web GUI) or Putty or remote desktop. Somehow it just loses connectivity. Anyone had similar issues? After I couldn't do anything I had to force shut (power switch) down on both rigs and after that one boots but USB drive is constantly in read only mode and doesn't boot GUI but offers "recovery mode" in which I can't do anything...again because it's read only. The second USB drive just died at the same time?! I can't fix them with dozen tools in Windows or Linux :( (Both are Kingston DataTraveller 100 G3 32GB). Did this shutdown corrupt the filesystem?

Anyone has suggestions which drive brand is more reliable...maybe Sandisk or Verbatim? Is 8 GB enough? I'm lloking for a quick replacement asap...

You only need 4GB really.
I've got 3 usb sticks that I've been using for mining OS. One's terribly slow (TDK), the other two are okay (generic brand). It's the luck of the draw I think. You certainly don't need a large capacity stick.

Nope, I've always been able to connect to the rig, regardless of the version of PiMP...
Maybe it's really due to a bad stick if it's slow and unresponsive.

I've had trouble getting PIMP to work in the past but got 1.5.6 up and running in no time. My issue previously may have been a UEFI setting in bios but not sure. Anyway, it's working great now and the 50% boost in hashrate is very nice.

I used SMOS in the past and loved the extensive Munin stats. Any possibility of getting something similar in PIMP? At least extending the charts to 30 days would be nice.

A friend had a lot of problems with 1.5.6 and rolled back to 1.4.* also.  I´m doing fine with 1.5.5.1 and 1.5.6. But I´m having less uptime than with 1.4.2, did not figured yet what´s the problem.

I've just setup a cron job to reboot every 6 hours.
I think it's only Sgminer5 that's unstable.

Personally I have no issues with v 1.5.6, however you can always check out the wiki page http://wiki.getpimp.org/wiki/Home or join the #pimp on irc to find solutions for your issue.

Probably you are running ASUS, so every time you make a fresh copy, you need to make this.For me this is easiest/fastest way.. :)

I have a strange problem with one of my rigs which won't start mining. PiMP loads fine, and all the gpus are showing ok. I'm used to it auto-starting on one of the default donation .confs on the first boot. This one doesn't, and it won't allow me to manually start any of the default profiles either.

I should add that this rig runs ok with a hdd running win8 plugged in (I only want to swap to PiMP because windows mining is too power hungry), so I don't think there's anything wrong with the hardware. With the exception of the mobo, it's identical to another rig that I have that runs PiMP very well. Both rigs have 5 r9 290s. The one that works is on a gigabyte mobo, the problem one is on an AS Rock 970 Extreme4.

Hey everyone, in addition to the #PiMP IRC Chat, we also have a wealth of troubleshooting help at our http://wiki.getpimp.org help center. This is compiled mostly by us but allows for anyone to contribute. Since you may ask in the IRC channel when it's a little slow (we do have families and day jobs and stuff) please also utilize these resources to help narrow down what might be causing your problems. Remember, linux enumerates PCI slots much different than windows, and the AMD catalyst drivers in linux leave much to be desired. There are a lot of people that help one another in the channel, but you have to ask and stick around until someone may see you and respond. It breaks my heart to see a question asked that I could potentially help with, and by the time I see it the person is gone. Also, as you can tell, we have not had much extra time to field questions in the forums. Seeing as how we are doing this out of the kindness of our hearts (the donation level has been less than the costs of our hosting and much much less than the time we spend developing) we are quite busy working and paying our bills.. :)   We love our PiMP community, we do our very best to help you, and we thank you for your continued support. It is still us three musketeers: sling00, lily, and myself. We are still developing miner.farm agents and clients, we are still working on PiMP 2.0!!!! and we are still helping you stay profitable by adding and testing the latest miners and algorithms.      Hello! I tried to convert the image of getpimp 1.6 - 1.7 with these utility by VirtualBox  
 cd c:\Program Files/Oracle/VirtualBox/    
                         then    
VBoxManage.exe convertdd "filepath\NameOfIMGFile.img" "filepath\NameOfTheVirtualMachine.vdi   (http://www.silicongadget.com/operative-systems/virtualization/convert-img-files-virtualbox-vdi-format/2674/)  
then I copied and installed as Hdd for the virtual machine, and the system started in the VirtualBox  ...
     The only thing that I can not start the miner cgminer4.3.5 (I also tried, with BfgMiner and not even this part)
Should I reinstall the cgminer 4.3.5 to make it go with a GBlade GredSeed 80chip. ? How do reinstall (re-compiling)?


PS:
       After many tests I have concluded that the miner is installed and working.
What is wrong is the seedstatus.pl it seems to me that it fails to give the command of the start  cgminer4.3.5. In fact by giving the command in the ssh:
 cgminer start up and mine regularly. So now runs even without modification in virtualbox, remain, these minor adjustments.

Using the command (very useful) for updates  I could recharge SeedManager from git, and in this way making update, everything was resolved.

The new 14.6 is best for 290(x)

14.9, 64bit is doing a little better over here :)

The Pimp Version 1.7.0 has ATI Catalyst 14.6
but you can manually update it.

ran successfully on 1.7.0 with 14.9 amd drivers very low hashrate going to try 14.12 drivers next i know my card runs about 800kh/s on my radeon 6850 at 1025mhz core / 1100 mhz memory and 1.2volt the other setup ran 200kh/s will post once complete

well no idea whats going on did the same things the tutorial said to do for upgrading drivers to 14.12 and im getting extraction failed. signal caught cleaning up did fresh install on 4gb usb drive and nothing going to try installing pimp to a hard drive next

ok figured out the issue with pimp and updating my graphics card drivers to 14.12 it was due to faulty usb stick i switched to a hard drive and its working flawlessly

Ok, was using BAMT, but drive failed. Tried to find new BAMT and was re-directed to PIMP.
So, I installed it on a thumb drive, and fired it up.
I added my pools (Groestl) and clicked save/restart.
It's running, but 100% reject rate.
Any ideas what I should be looking at? Recall im totally new to this program.

Can anyone point me to where I can get info on how to deal with the 100% reject rate?
I have been using ASIC or CPU miners for years, but new to GPU mining.
I added my pool address using the add buttons, but all I get is 100% reject rate, all weekend long.
I must be doing something wrong, but I have no idea where to start.
Any suggestions welcome.

I would like to get some help with the PiMP program. I don't know if there is a support forum or other place to go for help.
For some reason, im getting 100% reject rate and I don't understand what to do to fix the problem.
My other miners (CPU/ASIC) do not have this problem, but this is a GPU im trying to mine with.
I would appreciate anyone who has some advise on how to change the reject rate. It's probably a parameter somewhere, but I don't know where to look.

Same key will work on RX version :) We are already working on it.

Used the older version with my scrypt asics so I have been waiting for this. Being my first cpu miner this has been a learning experience from day one. I tried a competitors mining OS and while it is a good start it is still in its infancy. I had to fool with it, tweaking settings for a couple of hours to get it above 90mHs. It worked well when it was working. Still too many bugs. When I heard about the PIMP update I bought it and burned it straight to an SSD. Straight out of the box it is averaging 90.5 mHs. Just plug and play. My Linux experience helped but it is still quick and easy to get up and running.

I'm running the new pimp and love it but I'm not a linux guy so how do I adjust the screen it's running off the monitor also I'm trying to get some gridseed blades running with no luck is there anyway I could get a example conf file both cgminer and bfgminer are blank Thank You

Have not seen any instance where the desktop runs off the screen. Can you try using RDP Like the following instructions? https://getpimp.org/classic-gs3/#rdp

On that same page you can find the other ways to access your rig. Using SSH and poolmanager/seedmanager may be most useful.

If you are having trouble with the default seedmanager profiles, There is a known bug in 1.8 where the old seedmanager profiles do not work as the filenames of the confs were cleaned up. You can fix this with pimpupdate:

Run 'pimpupdate' at terminal, choose option #4 and it will update you to the fixed version of the /opt/ifmi/seedmanager.conf

Note: Seedmanager is a little buggy on the new pimp.... I actually use minerfarm to manage all my asics until we get that resolved. You can see my rig on https://miner.farm/farmer/PIMP/farmstatus  although it is a development rig and may be starting and stopping a lot while we work on new secret project codenamed "PiMPjuice" :)

Thanks for the help I got my gridseeds working. In minerfarm if I want to get a subscription to be able to control and change pools do I replace the api keys in pimp minerfarm settings with the api keys under my account settings in miner.farm also is there a way I can overclock my gpus like msi afterburner I no I can change clock and temp in some of the conf files but its easier to set once Thanks

You can do it by ssh or command line now, just like with pimpkey, using "farmkey" command, or paste them right into minerfarm configure screen. If you have trouble use livechat command and it will bring you right into #PiMP chat room where we can help you in person!

We do not currently have afterburner for linux but we are exploring all the options (including writing our own exciting new mining framework codenamed "PiMPjuice" that will be our next generation of products :)

We also are hard at work on miner.farm, we have some fun new features coming to miner.farm as well as PiMP Classic.... RX400-series support, Zcash, and more coming in the next months! No, I am not getting much sleep, but this is what us miners live for!!!

Pimp is a great software.How can one say expensive or cheap?Everything is relative, if you have got a good rig and make money it is cheap.For me the price is reasonable.The assistance? They want our feed back to modify the program.

I have experienced an ip issue similar to yours.I have downloaded the program ,pimp, to my laptop and later imaged the files and prepared the flash disk.

However, it id not accept the key.

I have just entered the chat and Melt told me that the problem was the 'double ip'.So friend, there must be a command to delete the previous ip and make you define new ip.Do not forget to set the static ip for you rig at the beginning.

What command to delete the ip????I do not know, I am just reading 'how to files'.

gablay12, I have been trying to install the program and its feautures.I only have 1 licence.However, I could not run the program.I have modified the configuration files for claymore.After I have tried to make a complete cnfiguration at miner.farm.However the miner did not start.As you know we have helped each other on many cases, now I need your urgent support.Please load a video how you compile it at miner.farm after you edited the configuration files.

   I experience the same program.I have edited the conf file and after tried to run it on miner.farm.The problem I faced was to select 'binary file'.There are many files, even if you select one there are many under the parent directory.Would you please tell me how you proceed at miner.farm terminal?A video or some photos would mean a lot.I have also asked help at the IRC Channel, the mods asked and I responded the questions.However, I could not overcome the problem.By and large I can not mine with Pimp and I would very much appreciate if you help me or share a DIY video.

Dear friends, I am neither a mod nor an experienced user of Pimp software. dbct, Melt and Lily are the mods and they are 7/24 at the IRC Channel for help.

I also wanted help on the channel on a similar case.I have edited claymore dual mining and replaced my wallet.

Later, at miner.farm terminal I have chosen the ID.ID1 for the first profile, IDn for the nth terminal.

I also have had the same problem.I have chosen the config file and the program asks for the binary file.Well, as a matter of fact I dunno the correct answer.

A how to do section for the 'edition' and 'mining' with photos will be the answer.

Not a newbie user of Pimp but an experienced Pimp user may share a video.What I recommend is you mention your point of views to mods on the channel.

if you have your pimp terminal in front of you
type pimp -help

from here you can edit /start /stop and test the miner

now when you looked at that
type  pimp --list

here you see a list of all other profiles that don't have a api that we got working nice for you

ok here is what you do

now type pimp --start with the profile number you want  / or type pimp --test with profile number you want  

the seccond will show you a console of the miner

Is there any chance for a version working with RX400 and 7xxx mixed?

sorry to say but no the current amd drivers for linux don't allow that at the moment.
as soon as there are new drivers that allow for that we will make it possible in pimp.

the  AMDGPU drivers does not support most under the 300 series
the  FGLRX drivers does not support the rx series

as soon as amd fixes this is when we will be able to fix this for all you miners out there

Yes it is hashing but the optiminer does not provide its hashrate to pimp or minerfarm, so you can view it at the pool or you can view the miner screen to see the hashrate locally, using pimp --test command"

Dear dcbt, they are not hashing; double checked.

However, when manually a force start command applied such as, ' /opt/miners/sgminer/sgminer --api-listen --config /opt/confs/sgminer.xmr.conf '
it starts.

Pimp is a terrific software and a great helper but i believe for some gpu cards they do not begin automatically.Besides that it is a priceless tool for miners.

I would be very happy if you could share forced start for cfbg.Can they also make a forced start?

gablay12, as we have chatted yesterday I am stuck sghminer.conf at miningrigrental.com 's proxy.My problem is, as expressed yesterday, can not understand how my rig is defined and get a user number (name) at the site.A video about installing a pool (for any coin) would mean a lot and we can overcome the installation editing issue.I am also expriencing the not hashing miner issue.I have even re installed the default conf with command and tried to start the miner.The outcome is Pimp works fine with manually start command for XMR but not automatically.To be honest the program needs an urgent update or new versions, tons of installation videos but also a great helper for me.

Can someone also tell how asics are adapted to the program?

It is very usefull to share case studies about Pimp.We are facing the same problems, and ask the similar questions at the channel at different times.When it is written at the forum then there is resource that you can search and find what you are looking for.After your mail and PM I have started my Pimp for a short time and yes, it is hashing.I am mining zcash at the mpment .The forced command for zcash and/or ether would be very useful.I have also edited nearly all the confs but miningrig.....

I have also receieved your PM about MMR.I am working on it.If I can succeed I will share a video on it, if you succeed earlier pls do share the video.
About asic mining with gridseed I am totally ignorant.

The mrr proxy is just that via that site it is redirected towards a pool out of the box, you will need to adjust the conf to your own pool.
About the question about the auto start just 5 seconds ago rebooted my rigg to check , when it fully loaded it directly started mining.
I have some profiles made in the minerfarm agent though ( this is reachable by typing minerfarm in your terminal) for sgminer-gm.
When the rigg reboot it does auto start that first id ,in my case this was the eth config it started and started running directly.
But i will look into this after i am back and able to sit behind a behind a pc again.

I could not understand how to use myminingrig.com as proxy for mining so I decided to switch to us1.ethermine.com. I am not a native english speaker and my English is not enough to express myself. I have taken a screen shot and I believe someone can understand and give me an naswer.

you are able to change that to what you like (this is called your worker name)

2 the seccond pool is a backup pool if pool 1 would go down it would switch to that pool in your case switch out the 2 pool urls so that the eu and the us are switched ( then you will mine on the eu server of that pool )

i) Talking specifically about 'miningrigrentals.com' , you have a number for your created rig , such as 32999 and you have got a user name to login the site lets say,' btc_ist' . So my worker name is a number and use name is 'btc_ist' for this example. What I want to understand is I will replace 3000.pimp with 32990.btc_ist  .Is that tue?

I can not talk in the name of other users but I personally prefer late answering forum to a live help.You are doing a good job with Pimp.I am hearing the softwares name from my surrounding circle.

I also have some recommendations for the next version of the software.

First of all, sometimes we experience problems launching the PIMP.It is because of late response of VBN.Would you increase the reponding time from 10ms to 1s?

Secondly, many people whom I have chatted with about PIMP are experienced BTC miners however not much experience with altcoins. We would be happy if you could add a section to knowledgebase or a small engine to the site about what to mine with what binaries.To be more clear, if I want to mine ETH, I would like to see my alternatives.

The program should ask me which altcoin I am willing to mine? ---->I would select among the options.


The program should ask me if I would use a GPU or a CPU? ----> I would select GPU

The pogram may warn me about expected daily income (This is an option but not necessary).

The program lists my options. I select one of them.And it mines....


What about user name, wallet? These must be edited at the beginning.There must be pools and we must sign to these pools and enter this info, and our wallet info to Pimp.By and large it can be more user friendly.

Today, we’ve come forward with our first big content update to PiMP. It includes the latest versions of:

To update, simply stop your miners and open up a terminal window. In the terminal, type pimpup, followed by the number of the miner you wish to update.

So.. With miningrigrentals.com, it is a special type of service that has partnered with PiMP to provide security and flexibility for PiMP customers. It is a service that allows you to rent out your rigs' hashrate for a profit.  To use miningrigrentals yourself, you can both rent your rig and rent other people's rigs to get yourself more hashrates to jump in on a very profitable coin or whatever your reason might be!

If you can, please use our referral link (which we prefer as it makes us a tiny amount of revenue!) https://www.miningrigrentals.com/register?ref=733  and create your own account. 

Then, you can create a rig, per algorithm type, put your pools and information in, and you will get your own pool/worker information to connect with.

Once you have your worker info from MRR, you would put that into your miner conf on PiMP using the edit command.

However, if you do not want to use miningrigrentals, you would use a different pool.

We try to put more pools in as examples.... moneropool, flypool, and ethermine.org are all found in the PiMP default confs. Check out the PiMP users guide on https://getpimp.org/guide2, hope this helps.



We did hear that VPNs are having trouble, we have listed this in Limitations of Software. You have to provide PiMP a good network route to the servers. Both ours and the pools. That can only be provided by you, the customer. If you know of any setting in particular that we can change to accommodate pimps like you, please direct me so that we can take a look!

Well, we've done a lot so far to make things easier. Right now we have the newpimp command that shows how to get started, we have pimp --chworker now that can instantly change an address in. Many of these tools were requested by our professional farmers and so we made them externally available via ssh. :)

We do have the tracker full of great ideas like this, including the "PiMP setup wizard" which has long been a dream of ours. This will allow people to get onboarded easier.  Yes, we are very excited to bring mining to new miners so crypto can be more accessible. Hi all! When I edit Json files some files say 'start with valid api', some 'can not find a valid api'.What may be the problem?Any suggestions?

Thank you for your question. This question will be answered below. In short:

The edit command checks the JSON syntax of conf files (but not .pcfg files) to alert you if you made a typo.

When starting the miner it is always done by a screen, so that you can look at the miner screen later.
Also, Some miners do not provide API access at all, so we don't know what the hashrate is, for example. The non-API miners, like Claymore and Optiminer, we can start and stop and even switch profiles.... But they just don't give the information.

Good news, it's working fine. What's happening is this: Because optiminer does not actually have an API, we don't get any data from it at all about the hashrate or the GPUs. so, it's mining away, but minerfarm only knows that "it's running" and we don't know anything else. We grab info about the GPUs from the GPUs themselves, like the fan speeds. So we created gputool for miners like this, since they also do not control the fans. use gputool --help for info. so you're doing it right. there's 2 good ways to view your actual hashrate. You can use pimp --test to attach to the running miner screen.... and you can view the "observed hashrate" At the pool we have a lot of improvement planned for this, but just being able to start/stop these miners from minerfarm is a huge win! really curious what your hashrates are on the miner screen, when you get them :)


Also, please run pimpup to make sure you have the latest version of PiMP gputool. We have been focusing on this and making improvements and supporting more cards.

So far everything has been running smooth - but they keep releasing updates to miners! Thankfully, you’ve got the PiMPUp Update Platform. This lets you get the latest miners sooner - and get a huge head start above the competiton.

Thanks to PiMPs coming for live chat support, we’ve pushed several great fixes for reliability with the miner.farm agent. We’ve got temperature, fan, and clock control for GPUs - and started on some of the framework for new features coming this year.

There’s also a major Optiminer Zcash update for stability - version 1.3.1, and you can auto-upgrade to it.

First, be sure your miners are stopped with the pimp --stop command.
Run pimpup. It will guide you through PiMP updates, if there are any.
Choose Optiminer from the menu. Should get a big green Success after that.
Run edit zcash-opti.pcfg to change your configuration. FLAGS= should NOT contain the --experimental-kernel flag, this was needed for 1.2, but will break v1.3.1 and newer. You should remove that if it is in there. This is near the bottom of the file.

There’s also been lots of bug fixing and improvements to miner.farm, so it is even easier to see your rigs at a glance. Visit the PiMP farm at https://miner.farm/farmer/PiMP/farmstatus for a look!

Now, for the numbers!

The new Optiminer on your PiMP OS is more stable and gives a nice bump in Zcash hashrate. In the picture below, 2 r360 cards went from 80 sol/s with Optiminer 1.2, to 100 sol/s in Optiminer 1.3.1.

Hi dcbt.I have chatted with my old pal gablay12 who we cooperate for e-commerce about my intention for purchasing more copies.However, when gablay12 came personally and visited my farm installed sgminer for xmr.It works fine.I could not install sgminer-gm ..He told me it may be because of the pools I have selected.I am not sure, maybe...I am using coinotron and sprnova.

I have never used any dummy plugs, I don't know what they would be needed for. I am currently able to boot PIMP 1.9 and 2.0 without a monitor connected on a variety of cards including 270X, R360, RX470 and RX480. Those are the ones I have the in PIMP FARM: https://miner.farm/farmer/pimp

As far as overclocking, this is not yet available in PIMP due to an upstream bug in AMDGPU-PRO drivers. We are tracking the progress of the bug here: https://www.pivotaltracker.com/story/show/137657081

Currently you can flash your own clocks to the GPU using Windows tools, or flash your own rom using atiflash included with PIMP.

I have a version of Pimp from like 3 years ago and purchased a copy of 2.0 just the other day.  I would like to give some constructive criticism if you would like to hear it.  

Unfortunately my expectations were to high.  It feels just as dated and difficult to use as the old generation Pimp.   Just my 2 cents, it is not easy to understand the different windows, different apps and/or different items you offer.  Everything doesn't need the word Pimp in it, sure it is cute but not easy to follow.  Secondly, having to open multiple terminals and to write everything with Nano is a big turn off.  I am not afraid of Terminal and understand it is a good option when connecting headless but for those of us doing it on a monitor it is nothing more than a pain in the ass.  I ended up locating the files and just editing them with gedit.   Lastly and most importantly I never could get it to work as described, I ended up just using the miner installed directly and writing my own config and starting it.  That pretty much negates the need for me buying any more copies, instead it is/was a hell of alot easier to just make a Ubuntu 16.04 SSD and load on a few miners and place them as a startup service and plug and play.  Not to mention the unGodly key I had to enter to use Pimp

The Pimpfarm is nice but there are plenty of monitoring applications available now,one can easily setup a server with config files.

I was hoping for something to use with 40-50 rigs but unfortunately me needing to spend a lot of hours and a lot of money to use Pimp versus setting up a much easier to use solution for free is a no brainer.  I just cannot see spending $1500 for license and then countless hours trying to get it to work or just spending the equivalent amount of time making a simple distro to copy for each rig free.

The edit and del commands are not just nano, there is a framework of default confs that are live updated using pimpup, so the latest settings are always available. Previous to this, I did have the confs folder on the desktop so you could edit with leafpad, but this was taken out in favor of having the live updatable default confs. A right click paste is simple for even the newest SSH users.

We didn't put everything in the guide, but if you are looking for mass deployment options , they are in there. For large farmers there are commands and techniques so you can make your ideal PIMP config and clone it to all your rigs. For example, I personally made a video of how to put the key in the rig using SSH. There are other things in the guide and the site that tell you how to overcome these hurdles. We also would be happy to discuss volume keys and pricing.

For our "Roll your own mining OS" folks we also provide a standalone minerfarm client so you can use the professional miner.farm monitoring service with your ubuntu rigs.

Hey guys, just got got the pimpos for nVidia, liking it so far.  One question is when I use the gputool to set OC settings, It says Unknown on all 6 cards.  I have 6 asus 1060 3gb cards.

Also does pimpOS for nvidia support 7 cards.  When I plug in my 7th card I see all gpu's detected but the miner shows no hashing, I made no changes from when I had 6 and it was hashing fine.

We are so excited about this release, and we are celebrating that you are getting such great hashrates. gputool does not yet support nvidia. However... fan control for the nvidia miners using confs was reported working, as well as nvidia-smi tool, however, we are going to make it as uniform as possible. Thank you for letting us know!~

I wanted to thank melt for being a true professional and going above and beyond to get me set up with Pimp.  My first mining rig back in 2014 was a PIMP rig.  As you can see above I was a little hesitant to go back to it but after spending some time with the Devs on IRC I decided to go all in with Pimp.

I absolutely love it, by far the best solution out there and I have used and tried them all.  And the professionalism of the Team made it a no brainer for me.

Yes, you can do /opt/pimp/atiflash -s 0 /root/gpu0-biosbackup.rom to save your existing vbios, and then flash other bios files, for example. Then a simple reboot is all that is needed. For more advanced changes, until we get a more advanced tool, you can still modify the VBIOS using windows tools for now.

Lets first start off this post with mentioning that the price per license is 30 usd per rig, this has gone in effect on the april 3 2017.
The reason for the raised price is that the development of this OS and the Monitoring system had some major backend upgrades and this in turn made the 3 platforms currently in place to be much more stable and reliable. And all of your tools continue to get improvements and updates!

Our test/support team now has some new tools like a full q&a section and customer bug tracking to help you get the most out of your rig and into the crypto mining instead of constantly fixing your rig.

With this i would like to say thanks to all the contributors ,  helping hands and awesome feedback from the community  that make this project a success.

Wow it has been a interesting month again and we see some pimps really pushing the envelope in tweaking and tuning their cards and using minerfarm to see their results.
This is a great thing to see as the enthusiastic home  /hobby miners have a great time with our product we are getting great feedback.
A miner came in the other day and asked for assistance. We provided what he needed and it turned out we got some great feedback so we had adjusted the guide and workshop content accordingly.
Another great thing is we see more and more miners using minerfarm and we have given our mobile friendly monitoring platform a great facelift.

Hello! Pimp Support!
First of all I think with this version of PiMP 1.9, 2.0 ... everything will be improved but at the same time you will lose much of the fame ... with this PiMP opening system with the key ... If you look only at other OSs ... SMOS, BAMT, and others ... there will be the same goal ... even if you have put so much effort into the updates ... Maybe to lengthen this agony of the end of these closed / opened systems for the rig, it would More intelligent to leave the OS free and only pay for Support ... You will gain infinitely more advertising ... now when almost everyone has left linux for windows or even the Asic with their OS ... what is left for you? (especially now that other OS free versions are released: SimpleMining OS  ...)

yes pimp has been a free product from 2012-2016 this is no longer the case.
well what you are suggesting is the following charge us please a monthly fee for support of pimp, this is what we have not done for pimp.
What we done with pimp is the other way of thinking for the key you get the updates , the dev work and completely tested product by our test team and you get the support.
I hope you can imagine the amount of work that goes into making a good easy to use good product.
Your claim on that everyone left linux for windows is a incorrect claim and i would love to hear your base for that claim.
In our product the customer stands on top and we work close with miner developers and asic developers so this might give you a great edge in the near future.
If you find that simplemining OS is what you want and need then i would suggest giving that a spin but if you ever change your mind we will still be here.
If you would say hey i have 2000 dollar for a rig but can’t spare 30 dollar for a OS with free support almost 24/7 and updates of current product version, there is a referral system also that you may fancy next to this there are allot of ideas still not in play but will come over time.

I have used just about every os for mining and believe that pimp has made a good decision on the $25 key that not a lot of money and every time I had a problem support help wright away a lot of work has gone into building pimp so don't think the little bit of money they are asking for a key should be a problem also simpleming is going to start charging $2 a month for each rig a month I had suggested doing a key like pimp

Honestly by having many choices for mining platforms it keeps us all on our top performance trying to make our tools the best and the biggest winners are the miners.   To make it short ... Have you ever looked at these hardware comparison charts looking at the OS level ... I know almost everyone knocks on windows. You asked why? personaly i'm not a fan of windows ... i do work well on ubuntu, debian or other systems ... i do not write it for envy, but thinking that you made a wrong step ...

  Now if you let me, I would also like to ask you two questions:

1. Have you ever established a market target to see how many miners will be willing to pay 25-30 euros ?
2. Have you ever read what is open source, and how does it work? Because looking at your site I can not see the sources at all, that you are at and who are certainly open source ... and you put them on, paid ... (not a matter of time, in the case of real devs that have been sweating To do their systems).

Another thing ... if you find out that somebody finds ways to evade your famous key ... what did you do? Do you bring them to court? but for what ? If this pimp relies on a free system? What do you tell them to the judge? I leave to you the answer.


The miners' row (as people)  in altcoin decreases, more and more, with high costs ...

first off, I agree with some of what you said but were did you get 25-30 euros per month or what is that US 40 or more-, i bought two copy's of pimp,one for 25 Us and one for 30 US and i don't see were it say's yet, i have to pay 40 bucks a month to use this software on top of buying it and to me MINER.FARM is one of the best ones,and priced fairly and is free if you wish to use it free. even if i don't use it, im just being fair which it seems you not by some of the comments you claim about pimp that are not true...and you can see the see the source if you want to .. form what i saw ...

These prices I think they also include Pimp ... I do not know if it only refers to mining service on miner.farm

Thanks Toptek for your support and glad you like the product, reading down i will try and give you all the answers that you seem to be so determine to find iulius99.

To get the confusion out the way i would like to say that the subscription sheet you show us applies to the minerfarm monitoring control system product of the getpimp family products.

With pimp OS comes a free version as seen also in the subscription sheet  so people are able to see there miner from anywhere.
The pimp OS you buy the key  for all current (may 11 2017) versions of the OS so you are able to select the one you would need for your rig
What do you get for your one time investment of the OS:


i hope this alone will answer your first question, next to this the second question i would agree with toptek , this being said if you are that interrested in the product i would advise you to come in our public chat and have a chat with the pimps.

our target as you point out is the whole mining community for big farms there are solutions and they in turn think allot before they make a choice in OS and in costs.
But for a home miner i know the price is fair because because of what is included in the OS.

I do fail to see one thing and that is why you have a grudge against entities like PiMP and also for this i would like to invite you to our irc

I'm currently fighting with my new z170a gaming pro carbon rigs. Can't hardly get Windows to recognize more than 5 gpus (got 7 gpus per mobo, 2 mobos).

Will pimp recognise these without issues? I was a very happy user of pimp back in 2014, and would be happy to pay the 30 bucks if it solves my issues! Please let me know asap!

Hi!
 I would like to try your famous new Pimp ... but first, if you can tell about the new RX 580 Nitro+4GB  if  can underclock by the SO, and if that needs to modify the bios of the GPUs to get higher Hash values, and if  can get updates by going to higher versions when they come out ...
If I want to move the SO from one PC to another, the key remains valid, or do i have to reset it from your support ?

It would have been useful a way to be able to test Pimp before buying, so one gets an idea of what you can get with its GPUs.

Why do we check sgminer -n in the helpme? You can get right to the point. If the miner can see the GPU, we are pretty much good to go. Beyond this, is just editing the conf file, add miner, start miner. Problems? Probably your conf settings, pool or network issue, or hung GPU.

sorry for the late reply but we have been very busy as of late even more so
i would like to try and answer all the questions you have and thank you for you interrest in pimp
there are ways in pimp to mod the bios now and we are working on the documentation for that so that should be understandable to do soon .
and we do have atiflash standaard intergrated in our pimp software so both ways can give you higher hashrates.

if you have 1 key that is for one rigg you can transfer it to another rigg but the first has to come down
unless you have a volume key ofcourse then you can have it on more then one rig.

pimp has been a free product till q3 of 2016 so people have been able to test it for free befor that time .
however please read the userguide and the disclaimer for more info on that

also to get an idea on how well your miner could preform have a look at the hashrate page on getpimp.org

GetPimp has got to be the WORST mining app out there!!!!!!!!!! Wasted weeks of my life trying to make this work and not one share yet!!! ETHOS is great but no Nvidia support. 1080ti card without work collecting dust as difficulty rises - Bitcoin must fail because it is not made for the common person.

No help on chat. Cant use commands to delete port activity. Cant configure files to get any hashing started. They told me not to overthink but I see many others are having similar issues as I am on google. Can Ethos please support Nvidia. Took one hour for me to get Ethos configured and hashing - my only issue was maxing out the hash rate. Again 2 WEEKS and not one share trying to demystify GetPimp.

PLEASE PEOPLE SAVE YOUR $30 - there are better ways to blow your money and more importantly your time!!!

One other thing, the ONLY times I could get it to hash was when I left the getPimp default wallet information as is. They would hash when they were getting paid but when my information is used it no longer works...hmmmm

Looking at the ethosdistro changelog (which is not an app but an operating system like all other systems), now Has the ability to use Nvidia in the latest version v. 1.2.3 .
If you have already purchased EthOS just upgrade with this line of code :

Hello guys. I was wandering, what version of PiMP to buy in order to use 4 rx470 and 1 295x2 on the same rig. I am kind of lost with the versions and their compatibility.

Well... You can thank AMD for this one... We surely have!

But you cannot have those GPU in the same rig.  2xx series require fglrx driver which is in pimp 1.9 and does not work with new version of ubuntu like we use...   And the RX4xx series require AMDGPU driver which is in pimp 2.0 and 2.1 and does not work with the old cards or versions.  So these cannot be mixed in the same rig on Linux.

How many NVIDIA GPUs does work in PiMP on one mainboard maximum?

We have a ton of people with 6 of them, just like the AMD cards, and other Linux platforms, 6 seems to be the sweet spot for stability.

Ok, thanks for your answer. So there is no need to switch from Windows, as long as I can run 8 NVIDIA GPUs there rock stable.
I was thinking about if 10 or 12 GPUs would be possible in PiMP, but as it seems, not.

Unsure about how Linux, hardware and drivers will play, but we set our limit to 128 GPUs. If your rig is running fine today and doing everything you need, you're good to go. Tomorrow things may change for you and we will be here when you need. Thank you for your interest!

We are currently working around the clock to simplify everything so you can find and get your rig up and running.
As for the working confs well all the default implanted confs (best used first time to see if your rig is setup good on the hardware side before changing it to your own pool and settings).

On the question about the no permission well please login to your account at getpimp.org and then ask the question then you will have the permission.
Also for this one same as above we are working on a way to address this as well.

To answer the question of your rig underperforming i would like to know  what version you are running what cards you are using, this is easy done by sending us a helpme link more info on this is also found in the userguide and on discord by typing !helpme .

To say something is unsupported is not something i would agree for there are many ways to get support the fastest way being discord and type !support then the support team will be alerted and will contact you in the chat to help you with your problem to get you mining once more.

The nicehash Auto Switching is at the moment not a thing at this time do to the fact that this is restricted to the sgminer we will make a guide on how to do this as soon as possible , other great miners like claymore don't support this unfortunally

my 12x RX580 Nitro+ run stable and perfect with other linux distro now.
But I see, that PIMP has more and better feature, also I will try it.

Undervolting is okay with pimp? What power usage do you have from wall - spec with RX580 cards?
I have 357MH/s and 1900 watt from wall by only ETH. (ETH+DEC 356/7100 @ 2230watt from wall)
I find my wattage high. Or?

Hashrate can be the same as with other linux distros? (~29-30MH with timings mod)

PIMP OS for NVIDIA: nothing major here, just incorporated all of the previous bug fixes, features, optimizations and updates since v2.2.2-nvidia (v2.2-rc2-nvidia)

Highlighted infrastructure updates:

Miner.farm code has been getting multiple overhauls at each component to provide more network robustness, security, and accuracy.
We’ve upgraded our server fleet to handle the 100+ rig farms we have running simultaneously online.  We are constantly evaluating, testing, and improving the infrastructure.
The download servers have been upgraded and scale with demand to ensure swift download and install.
We are evaluating and working with a number of payment processors such as Coinpayments, Stripe, and Coinbase to improve the sales and subscription processes.

Highlighted new features:

 `gputool` has been completely rebuilt, and now will set clocks and fans on both Nvidia and AMD cards. If you were using other scripts or other methods to set fans or clocks, switch to `gputool` for the latest feature support. (For details how to use gputool, Check out our gputool post in forum.getpimp.org’s Overclocking section.)

Are your stats wrong? Are you getting 0mh/s but the miner is running? Does it say screen is terminating without starting the miner? Does the miner not run? Does the miner screen exit? Here is how to fix it in 4 quick steps:


1. Run the command `pimpup` in the terminal and update both the PiMP software, as well as the miner you are running.

2. Does this profile run fine with the defaults? For example, profile 2501 uses ewbfminer and you can restore the default config with: del nvidia.ewbf.zcash.pcfg and then run it with: `pimp --test 1`   (if it is miner id #1 in the `pimp --list`).

3. If `pimp --test 1` does not show you the right information you can go a step further and run without stats and without the screen. This is just for testing: `pimp --debug 1`

4. If you run fine with the default conf then you know it's your conf that is the problem. Double check it with checkconf command.

You can now add and remove miners on the miner.farm website! To add a miner, the Agent Settings panel now displays the GPUs in the agent host, and allows you to add miners using the profiles on the rig. Miners can be removed from the Miner Settings panel. (See the miner.farm section on the forum for an easy guide.)

undervolting well this can be done in the sgminer or setting the power limit to -20%
spec question and card specific questions are better asked on the pimp forums to get feedback of your fella pimps.

as far as i can tell this is normal for a rx580 basic will do under full load about 271 doing this 12 times will give you a power need of 3250 Watt so depending on what mods you are running on the vbios of your cards i would say your doing ok

They say: Calculate your profit based on the numbers and don't forget to factor labor costs, payout schedules, etc. in when you are making decisions about your farm.

What is the recommended method for remote management of rigs with pimp os installed? TeamViewer or some other software?

I'm currently running simpleminer on one rig and expanding my farm by 4-6 more rigs.
The catch is they are all going to be in a different state, 5 hours away.

Simpleminer works but lacks support and slow feature adoption. Pimp os seems like a perfect fit for what I need if you can remote manage the rigs. Maybe that's where miner.farm comes into play? I need tot be able to remotely set profiles, reboot etc.

Is there a tool like GPUZ where I can find the memory type of my 580x or do I need to use windows?

Hello Crypto world and PiMPs around the globe

Welcome to the new year and what a year it has been.
Pimp as a company came so far in the past year from being in the shadow of other Operating systems to what it has become today a full heavy full OS that kicks ass.

This being said there have been many changes in the background of PiMP aswell.
With the coming of a full support team , beta team  ,upgrade to discord as a main chat medium and active forums.
There have been a number of changes also in the Admin section of PiMP.

With all this positive news it is with a heavy heart that I must take my leave from this crew.
This choice has been made on my own after a month of putting things on a scale.
I personally would like to end this on a positive note because I care much for the original crew and the work that has been done giving you guys one of the best choices a miner could need for there choice in what they want to run on there rig.

Why would you leave is a question I got , well to answer that I need to disclose a bit of personal info.
Last year was also a year that I changed my day job (yes all the work that has been done was besides this ) and also they offered me a study to follow, this next to the Family matters.
As you can imagine this is more then a day holds in hours so every day was a tight squeeze.

Last but never the less not least I would personally like to thank Melt and Lily for putting there trust in me and that we could lay the foundation to what pimp is today.

I will NOT leave the crypto world and you can always contact me on the many places I have a presence in and who knows where the road takes me next it certainly is a great age to be a miner.

JANUARY UPDATE: 2.4.2: More Stability, Smaller Image
PiMP-2.4.2-all and other updates were released this month to roll up fixes for stability, especially for pimps that were having trouble imaging or verifying their keys. Discord and other help resources now load right on the GUI desktop for our new miners to have easy access to the help they need.

Beta Team Business Tips
HAND HOLDING LIKE SOME TEENAGE SWEETHEARTS
One of the most useful features is our `pimpup --auto`. You can set up auto resets of the rig on a regular rotation (we recommend weekly).
Other things you can do:

* reboot the box after it's done pimp'ing up with `pimpup`
* `pimp --stop 1 && pimpup --auto && pimp --start 1` can be used to update pimp and the current miner(s) in use (make sure to stop 2,3,4 if you are using those, as well.)
* Remember: pimpup only updates the software during the "Updating PiMP Software" part. Then it brings you to a menu to update your miner. After you've updated your software, don't forget to update your miner!

Regarding AMD BIOS information, PiMP comes with tools that allow you to dump, view, edit, and flash AMD BIOS without issues.  No need to jump to windows and back.

It also comes with a unique application called 'gputool' that allows you to overclock and tune either AMD or NVIDIA GPUs from the same configuration file.  It also reports GPU status, health, and can be used to find a GPU by turning on/off fans & lights.

PiMP also supports mixed rigs!  Use a combo miner, like claymore dual or ethminer to mine using both AMD and NVIDIA.  Or split them GPUs up with a seperate miner for either AMD or NVIDIA.  All the drivers are current, libraries are refreshed constantly.  And the miner applications upto date.  New profiles released constantly so you can always be mining the most profitable coins.

The Future of PiMP: To 3.0 and Beyond!
MARCH UPDATE

The PiMP platform is evolving quickly along with the changes to the AMD drivers and their relationship with the Linux kernel. Here's what to expect under the hood over the next few months:

• PiMP 2.5.1 releases in April using CUDA 9.1 and the PiMP 4.15 Cheesesteak kernel.
• PiMP 2.6 is in the works for June, and will be based on Linux 4.16.

     Keeping on the latest technology means being the first to support new GPUs, coins, and miners, as well as squeezing every last hash from your cards.
     In addition to this amazing kernel work by the PiMP developer family in moving toward PiMP 3.0 generation, there are some headline features to be announced in the coming months.
    PiMP 3.0 is going to give you much more control over miner versions and PiMP packages using the apt package system. For instance, you will be able to choose among versions of a miner and pick the one that works great for you. How do you overclock the cards?  I have a bios manually set giving the clock lets say 2000, on card.  Using Claymore, im showing 1200 and 1800 respective for all cards.  I know the onboard is different for each, how can i set the values i see showing on miner.farm?

Recycle that Heat!
As winter approaches, profits can come back by recycling your rig heat to warm your home or shop. Last year, melt was able to use free rig heat all winter long and never burned any fuel! You can run your furnace on ?Fan only? and send the heat from the rigs to the heater?s return.

Crypto Tax Tips
If you are planning on declaring your mining income, the basic rule applies: Keep good records. If you have good records, then you can always explain where you got your numbers, and that almost always satisfies the tax officials.

Scan and save all hardware receipts and invoices for expenses such as electrician and HVAC subcontractors if you plan to expense any of this.

Miner.farm 3 Roadmap Report

Miner.farm 3 development is right on time. We?ve been incorporating tons of new features while fixing up all the existing code. Most notable is the multi-user capability. You will be able to assign Farm Managers so you can give management access to your partners or staff to help manage your entire farm. Private farms can also share with select persons having read only access.
Your voice and feature requests have been heard. We now will have a Dark Mode, for easier monitoring on the eyes, as well as some business features such as dynamic PDF invoices, and group control of your rigs.

PiMP OS Roadmap Report

Image 2.8.3 beta was a success, and PiMP 2.8.4 is expected to be released by early October. This is a complete revamp and brings us to the next generation of Ubuntu, which sets the foundation for the PiMP 3.0 platform.
New miners and coins: In just a few short months, we have added over 8 new miners (and cleaned up a few outdated ones) as well as added over 150 new coins, algorithms, and examples to PiMP. We regularly watch sites like whattomine, and participate in hundreds of mining community discords and forums to stay on top of the hottest mining coins, so we can make it easy for you to mine them.
Notable new coin algorithms that are hot right now: ProgPoW, several Cryptonight variants, and several Equihash variants.

Doc?s Cryptomining Triage

Hello fellow PiMPs!  For those who frequent the PiMP Discord channel or the PiMP OS forum have probably already met me, but for those who haven?t, let me introduce myself: You all know me as DocDrydenn, but don?t let that name fool you ? I?m no Doctor, ?but I did play one in Battlefield 4? <crickets?> Anyway, everyone just calls me Doc.
I just retired from 20 years of enlisted active duty service in the US Navy. I was an Aviation Electronics Technician (AT) First Class Petty Officer (E-6). As an AT, my base training is electronics, but don?t let the ?Aviation? part fool you? Trust me, electrons flow exactly the same here on the ground as they do in the air. I?ve worked on all sorts of electronics ranging from simple power supplies all the way up to extremely complex weapon RADAR systems. I served on-board three US Naval ships, USS Saipan LHA-2 (Amphibious Assault Ship), USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71 (Nuclear Aircraft Carrier), and the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72 (also a Nuclear Aircraft Carrier). I have worked on numerous aircraft, from helicopters to fighter jets.
Back in 2011, I got hooked on Distributed Computing, specifically SETI@Home. I saved up some money and built a 10 GPU rig to help search for E.T. It was fun for a while, but I wanted to try something else. Sometime in January of 2018, I decided I would give cryptomining a try. I reconfigured my SETI@Home machine into a cryptomining rig and have loved every part of it.
The best part of PiMP OS (besides how awesome it is) is the community that comes with it. Part of being in a community is helping others, so when fellow PiMP?s need help, I jump at the chance to get them back up and running. As I always say, PiMP?s helping PiMP?s.

My vision for ?Doc?s Cryptomining Triage? is to share with you my collection of tips, tricks, and troubleshooting methods that I?ve found to be most useful.
To start this column out right, let?s cover a very common issue a lot of PiMP?s might come across: PiMP OS keys not validating.
99.8% of the time, this is a very quick and easy fix. After flashing the PiMP OS image to your SSD, make sure you eject/unmount the drive (or power down the host machine) before disconnecting it. If you find yourself in this situation, you?ll need to re-flash the PiMP OS image to your drive and follow the eject/unmount process. That?s it. Simple fix.

Hello Fellow PiMP's!

We had a good showing at yesterday's PiMP OS Clubhouse Call even though Discord was having Voice issues. Again, thank you to everyone who made it and stuck with it.

What? You didn't make it to the Clubhouse Call?! No problem! I got you covered with the meeting minutes... just do me a solid and mark your calendars now for the next one. Every Wednesday @ 18:00 EST (That's 6:00pm for all my non-military PiMP's!  ;D ) on the PiMP Discord Clubhouse Call voice channel.

Now that we've all got our calendars marked, let's get on with those meeting minutes I promised.

The biggest thing we discussed was the new payment system that will be introduced with the release of PiMP OS v3.0. It's still a bit "down the road" from now, so I won't cover all the details here. Think subscription based licensing. That's right, but more details will follow later on.

Anyway, the part of that I will cover here is the integration into miner.farm. If you didn't already know, miner.farm has been getting an overhaul done on it. Big changes are coming. If you love miner.farm now, Brother, you're going to want to marry it when you see what it's going to be. Amazing. Biggest shout-out goes to Lily for all of her hard work in doing it.

So back to the notes... The PiMP OS licensing system is being integrated into miner.farm where you will have so much more control over your keys and rigs. Also, Coinbase and PayPal payments will be accepted as soon as the new miner.farm (aka miner.farm3) is released.

Speaking of the new miner.farm, when it does get released it will be seamless. One day you'll be using miner.farm and the next day... Bam! You'll be using the new miner.farm. No extra fees. No massive re-configs of your rigs/farms. Nothing like that. It'll just work.

Let's see... what else?... oh, yeah. The name. The PiMP OS Staff/Dev Teams have been discussing the idea of renaming PiMP. It seemed a bit "split down the middle" from the group, but it is something that is being considered. Feel free to comment here, the PiMP forum, or even in the PiMP Discord channel and let us know what you think. Nothing is official, but the team would love some user feedback on this topic.

We also covered the version release road map. Right now, the current public release is v2.6. The PiMP OS Beta Team is currently working on v2.8.5b and v2.8.6b (fix release)... If everything goes smooth (and it seems like that is the case so far), v2.8.6b will become the public release v2.8.6rc. Biggest change in v2.8.x (over v2.6) is that it's based upon Ubuntu 18.04 and will have the newest stable video drivers. There's also been some amazing cosmetic changes as well. Shout out to Melt for those!

After the v2.8.6rc release, we can expect maybe one more release (maybe v2.9) to incorporate another kernel update and newer video drivers. However, not too long after v2.9, you can expect the long awaited v3.0!! (Okay, okay... I'm getting too far ahead.)

The last things we covered were the new nVidia RTX GPU's and the upcoming AMD RX600-series GPU's. Just know that the PiMP OS Dev Team is working as hard and as fast as they can to ensure PiMP OS supports these new GPU's. I did manage to get my hands on a nVidia RTX 2080Ti for a few hours to play around with. I can honestly say that I'm impressed. These are beasts.

Big changes are coming to PIMP OS, and its not just all the great new miners and drivers and features:

Starting with version 3 we will be using a monthly subscription model instead of a one-time payment.

We are making this change because most miners asked for it, but some prefer the one time payment, so this is a heads up to you who would rather not use a subscription for your OS.

We have just released the 2.8 image version, and it is based on the same core that will make up the 3.x versions . Obviously the 3.x versions will have improved versions of our software and the latest drivers at release time, but here is your chance to get what will become the subscription version at the one time price.

2.x versions will work on miner.farm V3 day one, and we will support 2.x for as long as it is still functional, so no worries about your purchase losing any value. Hey miners, just tossed out a quick update for you all today to wrap up the XRDP bug and the highly awaited x22i support is in on the first day, using t-rex miners, sorry, nvidia only until some miner developers give us a linux x22i miner.

pimpup 20181027:

Updated t-rex to v0.7.2 and added x22i (SUQA) coin to example profile.
Updated xmr-stak to v2.5.1 (more cryptonight v8 fixes.)
Fixed xrdp breaking after pimpup on 2.8.6.
Fixed conky IP address on desktop showing 0 after pimpup on 2.8.6.
Removed zergpool examples from t-rex, cryptodredge, and z-enemy profiles (pool is gone.)

Sometimes, making money from a mine is not about keeping up with the Jones. 

It is not about updating, tweaking, or tuning constantly. 

Instead, it is just about letting the miner grind on the work.  Hashing is as hashing does, and results are what matters the most.

Uptime means stability while performing, and the ability to handle change without crashing.

One of our largest customers shared this with us, some screen shots of his results in the form of uptime as a metric....

That's right, 250 days of constant uptime.  Stability is what makes a Rig that Earns, and its simply part of Pimp OS core.

pimpup2 - we haven't changed much lately - let us know if anything needs to be fixed

Portable Instant Mining Platform is US based, so we observe the US holidays at the request of our families :)

This weeks OTA update, or PIMPUP, would normally be on Thursday. We try to keep them coming regularly every two weeks , and of course if theres a big update or development we will push out an extra update to keep your miners on the latest. This week Thursday is the holiday though, so we will be getting your update out early, maybe even as soon as Tuesday.

The Clubhouse call is on Wednesday, and we expect light turnout given that its the day before the holiday, BUT Ill be around if anyone wants to stop by and chat.

In particular, TeamRedMiner has done a great job; definitely one of the fastest AMD miners currently for this algo, and the sgminer API they used is solid and well established in our products, which translates to better monitoring and management for you.

It can be installed on existing PIMP OS rigs with just 2 easy commands: `pimpup` and `pimp --add 1201`

It's been 6.5 years since we started this PiMP thing, and a few before that making and supporting other mining software like BAMT and Poolmanager.

Just wanted to take the time this Thanksgiving to outline our appreciation for all of you who support our project:

The miner developers, who have never ending piles of requests for new algorithms, and are always trying to optimize for more hashrate. Talking directly to the hardware is a special job and we appreciate you folks who make the miners we rely on.

The coin and algorithm developers, who design the very currencies we are after, and have to make wallets for many platforms, as well as provide blockchain services, exchange listings, and more.

The miners, who dedicate their time and equipment to supporting the coin networks, always tinkering and tweaking, and holding us to a higher standard.

Plenty more to talk about with crypto prices back in a state of flux too.

The prices are going back up and we have a lot of interest in PiMP going on and mining in general! Hooray! The miner developers are pushing updates every few days and we are going to be putting our pimpup OTA updates out more often. We have a lot of work in progress to share with you, but we also want to chat with you about coins and what we think is going to be hot for 2019! There's a lot of opinions about Ethereum and the use of smart contracts and their great uses, as well as big investor money coming in, so we will be talking about that as always!

There's also some big progress with pimp 2.9 and even pimp 3.0 so come get the scoop on that, as well as letting us know what we should be putting into miner.farm 3, since the launch went so smoothly and is humming along on the new pimp server fleet!

Last week the call went over an hour and a half and we still have more great tax tips from Brash, the PiMP Crypto Accountant, and he is available for questions. Don't wait until last minute - accountants need winter work too! :)

Our community is our favorite aspect of this project. We would love to see you there!

This is a 6xGTX1070 rig....The last time I even stopped the miner process was when I logged in back in october to switch from ZEC to ETH.

I have been doing this for a long time and have found NOTHING that is as stable or reliable for GPU mining.
