Why don't you add the direct download links in the description? I don't think people are interested in this coin because it looks shady.

What about KGW and it's exploits?

Are you not a dev?

Other than those concerns, the logo is A+.

FYI, announcements regarding CandyCoin happen on our website (https://www.candyco.in (https://www.candyco.in)) and are posted to Twitter (https://twitter.com/eatsweetmoney) and Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/eatsweetmoney/ (http://www.reddit.com/r/eatsweetmoney/)). We try and check on this forum when we can, but in the meantime we're busy working hard promoting CandyCoin =)

We have just released an updated CandyCoin wallet known as the Gummi edition to address the Heartbleed vulnerability found in recent versions of OpenSSL.
(see: https://bitcoin.org/en/alert/2014-04-11-heartbleed (https://bitcoin.org/en/alert/2014-04-11-heartbleed))

This is a mandatory upgrade and users are encouraged to back up their current wallets and upgrade to the Gummi edition. Along with an update to address the Heartbleed situation, we have adapted the Kimoto Gravity Well (with timewarp patch) to start at block 100k instead of block 400k.

This coin is only worth it if it's truly backed by candy. I'd trade my coins in for chocolate bars.

In reality, it's backed by an image of a candy logo and a name. It's not as sweet a deal.

It's a good idea  :) I'll bring it up with the other foundation members.

I agree. We need to know exactly what kind of candy is backing this coin. Is it chocolate? Is it Jolly Ranchers? Laffy Taffy? Blow Pops? It's suckers, right? A coin for suckers?

If this coin becomes really big, Then it's true that a thread can be a ghost town for weeks and then explode and the coins value skyrockets. Mined 7 blocks (70 yum in the first few minutes (I did this a first few weeks ago(obviously))) just in case it does explode.

Hi I have a problem, I downloaded the latest source from github and compiled the wallet on centos and I am getting this error:

./candycoind
candycoind: key.cpp:134: {anonymous}::CECKey::CECKey(): Assertion `pkey != __null' failed.

What am I doing wrong?

CentOS is a notoriously difficult system to build a wallet on. There's actually a helper script specifically designed to build CandyCoin on a CentoOS system in the contrib directory.

Have you tried that?

When I run that script it says it is only for centos 6.5 and this is centos 7
not sure what else to try

According to https://github.com/dogecoin/dogecoin/issues/158 (https://github.com/dogecoin/dogecoin/issues/158), it's apparently because some of the necessary algorithms are missing from openssl. Assuming you installed yum install openssl-devel? You'll probably need to download and compile openssl from https://www.openssl.org/source/ (https://www.openssl.org/source/), compile it, and do something like so:

export OPENSSL_INCLUDE_PATH=/path/include/
export OPENSSL_LIB_PATH=/path/lib/

before compiling. There's probably also an RPM that could be dropped in place of the base openssl-devel that has the necessary functions enabled.

Hope that helps a bit..

This coin has been around for 6 months or so now, are there plans to get it listed on any better exchanges. C-Cex or Allcoin would be a least a small step in the right direction. If it does ok on there than mint, trex & polo are possible.

Absolutely, definitely!

AllCrypt and AskCoin have the coin listed, it's on our short-term radar to get CandyCoin listed on a few more exchanges. We were planning to approach AllCoin and Mintpal after the next release, so yeah for sure we will also take a look at C-Cex and others also.

We're expecting to roll out some significant improvements to CandyCoin in the next release, slated for early November.

Due to our schedules we are still a few weeks away from rolling out the new wallet updates.

However, in the meantime we have replaced the old CandyCoin mining pool with a new and improved one (https://pool.candyco.in/ (https://pool.candyco.in/)); we are also testing a P2P pool as well and we expect it to be ready for everyone fairly soon.

So, the faucet doesn't seem to work. It just redirects away from the page, whenever it's clicked from https://faucet.candyco.in/ to https://btcpoolparty.com/ . So is the faucet dead?

Fixed.
Sent some more funds to the faucet as well.
