Title: pool hashrate distribution pie chart
Post by: mav on January 01, 2012, 08:14:22 AM
I've compiled a pool hashrate distribution pie chart, just for laughs and to try out python image library

http://maverickcharts.com/pool_hashrate_distribution.png

generated by the script at

http://maverickcharts.com/getPools.py

Any suggestions or bugs are welcome. The chart is updated every 15 minutes.

A break down of "other pools" would be nice :D

maybe list pools that are 100Ghash and up?

why 100 why not 50 or 20 or even all "active pools"? be comprehensive... :D

Interesting that you dont' show BTC Guild [which is about a third of the "Unknown" slice].  If you're having problems with our API, make sure you're using HTTPS [the site forces HTTPS on all connections].

Even if you don't break them out in first chart I hope you add more pools to the "unknown" section" and maybe have a seperate break out for the "unknown".

Bitminter for example has public API here:

https://bitminter.com/api/pool/stats

Also given p2pool is a very cool technology not sure how you can get the hashrate but if possible p2pool should be included.  Anyone know if there is an API/webpage type method to get current p2pool hashrate?
