Yeh, too bold. I don't think there is enough money in the market to get to $7.

Next week we'll be at $7 guaranteed

The real question is, how many will resist the urge to sell once it gets there.

Taking into account a few basic emotional factors. One can see there is indeed support for bitcoin. Additionally confidence is high as their has been no "issues" prior to last years fall.

Factor other small details like the road map for the Bitcoin client changes that will help with wallet security.
Upcoming services that will change the way average people do their retail purchase.
NFC (near filed communication ) offered with the new superphones and goggles new wallet system.
Even MasterCard upcoming swipe services.

And lest not forget how powerful a tool the IPhone can be for new tech adoption.

The reality of having bitcoin as a medium for day to day transactions seems far more plausible then last year.

However remember drink and speculate responsibly this holiday season. :P

I agree. No reason to climb that mountain again just to see how fast a body can reach the bottom...  Find a workable number and keep it there. A good round one, like $10 would be nice..
The system has grown a lot in the services that are available but it is my opinion that testing it with a $50BTC price tag is asking for another bubble.. Atleast at this point.

People hate to hear it, I hate to say it. But the average person is gonna want trusted 'banking' type services.
More micro payment mobile apps.
More clients that don't have to keep local block chains.
More IPOs in hopes of keeping some investor attention on the companies and not so much on the currency itself.

Demand transparency from the upcoming bit banks!
'Due D' your homework on them.
No more Mybitcoins, damnit!

cheers

Let's stick to the European format. This forum is a bit too US centered. So much for promoting Bitcoin internationally.

If only some international standards organization existed that could help us come up with an unambiguous date format (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601)...

If only some international standards organization existed that could help us come up with an unambiguous date format (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601)...

So the date today is 2012-01-02. It's not American date format or European date format. It does make the most sense. Think of how we write time: hour, minute, second. Dates should be the same way, biggest to smallest: Year, month, day.

Plus, you can easily use lexicographic sort which will work fine on these dates. Anything else is very problematic.

I can handle that. Just bear with some of us stupid Americans. Old habits are hard to break. ;p  Generally if I am communicating to someone about an important matter I make sure the date is unmistakable.
I.e., The 2012th year of our Lord, in the holy month of Janurary, on the 2nd day of his blessings. I kid, I kid
I.e., 2nd of Jan. of 2012    would be a proper date format on letter heads here in the U.S.  I do like having a more reconized standard when abbreviated though..

Hey, at least you Americans use a consistent system. Here, we have both YYYY-MM-DD and DD/MM/YYYY systems in common use: that's big endian and little endian. Then, there is "lazy format" when you use two-digit years. Here's a question for you: guess the date this represents:
Code:
05/12/11

The only countries to use the mixed date format, (MM/DD/YYYY), are: United States, Belize, Micronesia, Palau, and the Philippines.  Every other nation uses either big or little endian dates, not mixed endian which quite frankly make no logical sense.  In my programming projects I'm forced to use DD/MMM/YYYY format dates so there is absolutely no ambiguity (is 6/2/2012 a day in June or February?  Depends on whether an American is reading it or not), but that makes life difficult for people who do not understand English.

Coincidently, the only countries left in the world still using Fahrenheit as the official measure of temperature are: United States, Cayman Islands, and Belize.

Maybe the USA will convert, one day...

Answer:  Yes.

we were down there for months and we did a classic double/triple bottom testing $2.  i was there and i can tell you there was huge support @$2.

the overshoot to the downside was assisted by shorting on Bitcoinica which came online in September.  the sentiment was highly negative.

as long as there is no break in the code we will never see those lows again.

ppl around here need to listen to Jim Rickards and his theory of Currency Wars.

in a nutshell, every country will take turns devaluing their currency to try and keep exports alive.  aka printing.

its now the Feds turn to take the USD back down since its rise since May has been causing all sorts of havoc in financial markets.  we are now seeing the $DXY topping out and it will begin a long term decline which will drive risk assets.  "they" HAVE to do this or see the financial system implode.

today you're seeing alot of money flowing out of UST's and silver into stocks and Bitcoin is benefitting from this.

yes, i admire Kyle Bass.

whats interesting about the devaluation strategy is that while the central banks try to keep everyone elses currency stable, the ONE currency that can keep going down w/o imploding the economy is the USD.

and its b/c we indeed are the strongest economy in the world; forget China.

so, I THINK, the USD will continue its long term downtrend thus boosting everyone else in the meantime.  we've seen this for 100 years.

Bitcoin anyone?

Isn't international finance fun?  I've long been of the opinion that the rest of the world should be lined up around the block to suck our dicks as a thank you for picking the painful side of Triffen's Dilemma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triffin_dilemma) and keeping the world afloat.  Everyone loves to party, but they hate to clean up.
