Forum: http://coinstack.org/index.php?board=15.0

Altcoincalender: http://www.altcoincalendar.info/coins/356-ETR

Easterpool 1: http://easterpool.zapto.org/ (Ok pool is back up, thanks icecube45) (Good pool if using CPU)

Easterpool 2: http://207.12.89.212/etr/public/ (Thanks kantau, looks like you have already found many blocks too) (Use only if you have a very fast miner)

GitHub: https://github.com/ultcoin/EasterCoin2014

IRC Chat on freenode, #UltimateCoin

EasterCoin is open to anyone who would like to contribute. I would like to hear people's suggestions on what they would like to see in EasterCoin, what type of CPU algorithm I should use etc etc. Unless I hear offers from people, I will start writing the coin on Tuesday or Wednesday, I will then create the Genesis block 1 hour before release, upload as a zip with password protection then release the password here at the start of Good Friday.

Generally the idea of EasterCoin is to let it run for a few days, when Easter is over, people swap their coins for ULT. I don't know how big this will be, people may want to keep their EasterCoins.

I wanted to give the altcoin community something exciting & fun to do this Easter, they can help create, add services, trade & mine something related to Easter over the long weekend. It is currently planned to be a temporary coin so you can be really creative. (who knows it could be become a permanent coin if it is really popular like doge) Enjoy!!!

You can solomine or use a pool

Starting up EasterCoin, it will try to mine automatically but better if you use a real miner. To use a miner and add the nodes, copy eastercoin.conf into the C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Eastercoin

When you copy the conf file, either set gen to 0 or 1 (0 so the wallet does not mine)
make sure you copy eastercoin.conf into the c:/users/%username%/appdata/roaming/eastercoin directory, you can then edit it from there too to change options.

Example setup for using minerd (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9cvOfoOekSdVzZZcThLZHg4bjA/) for download (minerd download)

soloming
C:\quark-v2_w64>minerd64_sse4.exe -a quark -o http://127.0.0.1:31521 -u user -p userpass -t 2

poolming
C:\quark-v2_w64>minerd64_sse4.exe -a quark -o stratum+tcp://easterpool.zapto.org:3333 -u user.1 -p password -t 1 (you must setup workers on the pool first)

-t is how many CPU's you want to use and (user & passpass is already in the config file, that is the password)

Read a Quark mining guide while you are waiting.

a CPU coin would really level the playing field.  everyone could mine it.  This would really give small fish in crypto a chance.  being able to mine this coin with my CPU wile mining something else with my GPU will get a lot of early adopters.

Oh please.

CPU coins are even more susceptible to botnet's and server farms than anything else. See heavycoin and myriad during early phases.

Hey, you should read things carefully before posting! And keep your cool :P

It's just a 3 day coin, meant to give the cryptocommunity some fun  8) Who's going to care about bots and server farming?? LOL - when you're done proping, the mining is over ;D

I would like someone to donate a large VPS for 3 days, after 3 days the resources can be reduced dramatically or even shut down by forcing any remaining payouts.

I do not want to have to purchase a VPS which are usually charged monthly for just 3 days of use.

This is something for someone who wants to be a major contributor to the celebration of Easter. Also I would like someone to setup an online wallet too.

Also I would like people to contribute EasterCoin artwork as well. Also setup a site for it. I currently have EasterCoin pointing to one page for UltimateCoin.

These people let yourselves be known.

I would prefer people contribute out of selfless desire. Easter is similar to Christmas as it is a giving time.

Valid question Wolf Rainer but there is no premine or ipo, so not EasterCoins for me to give. I am pretty sure if you create a good service people will donate or pay, if you setup a pool, you can charge people to use it, I have not problem with that. BTW it is not necessary to quote my whole ANN post.

- Mining starts beginning of Good Friday, Ending Easter Sunday

In our global, multi-time zone, community this is insufficiently defined. Please post start and finish times in UTC

Title: Re: [ANN][EASTERCOIN](ETR) A COIN 4 EASTER
Post by: CoinExpert on April 14, 2014, 11:19:16 AM
Mikellev, This is the code I will use, I may release a bit earlier and have the first few hundred blocks at 0

if(nHeight <= 4320) {
                nSubsidy = 5000 * COIN; // 3 days worth of blocks @ 5000 ETR each
        } else if(nHeight > 4321) {
                nSubsidy = 0 * COIN;
        }

With KGW it keeps things pretty constant with block timing. Mining may end a few hours early or late however.

Stinky_Pete, Check the altcoin calendar, it has a countdown. When I selected it was a US midnight time.

Yes it is just for fun. Mainly just for people to use their CPU to mine, on their rigs they can enable a few cores to mine and have some fun. I will go for Quark algorithm as it is well known, I know there are GPU miners out for it but I doubt they will switch their GPU miners to mine EasterCoin as the advantage of GPU to CPU mining is much less than other algorithms. But yes, no exchange other than the 1:1 convertibility of ETR to ULT. From there you will be able use ULT on an exchange to trade however.

10 hours (approx) until EasterCoin Release !!!! Watch the altcalander

It is based on Quark so get your software ready.

You can solomine or use a pool

Solomining

Starting up EasterCoin, it will try to mine automatically but better if you use a real miner. To use a miner and add the nodes, copy eastercoin.conf into the C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Eastercoin

When you copy the conf file, either set gen to 0 or 1 (0 so the wallet does not mine)

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9cvOfoOekSdVzZZcThLZHg4bjA/

Example setup for using minerd (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9cvOfoOekSdVzZZcThLZHg4bjA/) for download

C:\quark-v2_w64>minerd64_sse4.exe -a quark -o http://127.0.0.1:31521 -u user -p userpass -t 2

-t is how many CPU's you want to use and (user & passpass is already in the config file, that is the password)

I'll post a sample for pool mining when the pool is ready

Read a Quark mining guide while you are waiting.

EasterCoin ports P2P:31520 RPC:31521

So, will we  have windows compiled wallets by launch time? Would you consider making them available now, with password on OP by launch time?
It's such a short mining period that any delays have a huge impact.
Having everything ready would be nice :)

Title: Re: [ANN][EASTERCOIN](ETR) A COIN 4 EASTER
Post by: CoinExpert on April 17, 2014, 08:39:00 PM
Yes Windows wallets will be avail.

It will be 100% honest.

Oh I will mention, to make it fair the early blocks only contain 1 ETR, so even maybe 1 hour after launch we may be on the little blocks before we reach the Easter ones.

So even if you are a little late or you had trouble, it won't really matter.

Don't click the green download button. It's for some DL manager software. Just click the eastcoin.zip text at the top where it says Download: eastcoin.zip.

dev, you write "5,000 coins per generated block", but i have 0,87 etr per block. wtf?
I got 1ETR for my first block. This is soo little.

hmm... 1ETR is not 0,87ETR per block, and isn't 5000ETR. Random?

All of mine have come through at 1ETR as well. OP states low rewards to start but 5K blocks should kick in soon, hopefully at block 200  ;)

Yes right now go for solomining, we are still on the little blocks so no harm done.

I am uploading to github, but it is slow, others can try adding services if they want too. Would like a blockexplorer if someone is feeling in the Easter Spirit.

Difficulty is already abit, but my addnodes have 55 connections so there are perhaps 55 people mining.

IF it was evenly distributed, everyone should have about 5 ETR by now.

When I was test mining, the difficulty went up to 3 with 4 sandy bridge cores running.

But thats not how professional Pools or Exchanges work. We just start your scripts and download the repos from github.
Plus everybody can check the source as a crowd community there. Plus you dont miss updates from the devs anymore as you simply pull the repo.

Finally got it synced

Yes but Quark is the closet CPU coin there is from my understanding.

The thing is, if you have a GPU why would you mine this when there are more profitable coins to mine with the GPU?

This is just a fun coin (although convertable) for Easter for people to CPU mine on the side while their GPU rigs are doing something else. I don't have a problem thou of people using their GPU's, I just think it doesn't make much sense for them to.

The advantage of using a GPU over a CPU for Quark is the lowest of all algorithms. If you have a good processor such as a sandybridge, you will do really well with EasterCoin.

"CPU Algorithm allows you to still mine your favourite valuable GPU coins over Easter because this is mostly a CPU coin"

Nothing wrong with that comment, never said CPU only.

(did the reward decrease ?)

I don't get it... Which wallet version are you running? I built myself a Linux wallet from source.

Seriously though, that's odd. All of mine started at 1 and now are coming through at 5,000 too.

Weird I don't know what is causing that, I doubt the block chain is giving you those rewards, probably just a wallet display error, I did not test any other language versions.

would be interesting to see the full detail of the transaction (may-be you are sending some fee to someone)
you receive only 87.5% of each block for all block that's funny... (sort of)

I think I know, he is using smelter. There is a version of that which takes a percentage and sends it to a quark address.

Pitty, 100% likely that precious ETR is getting thrown away  :'(

I finally got rid from the last pieces of GPL'ed code in my own miner and can now release it to the public. This miner is not free, a royalty of 1/8 (12.5%) is deducted from every mined block. (Coinbase transaction have 2 outputs, so I get my fee at exactly the same moment you'll get your coins).

what will happen to the coins which are sent, since it can't be sent to a quarkcoin address ? I mean the transaction is not valid
can he just recover them, by reloading the blockchain after a while ?

Currently we are 1/2 the difficulty of Quark now.

Symbol   QRK

Current Difficulty   1094.53

That's pretty cool

I got another block 473

So at 500 diff, with 3 cpu cores, maybe 1 block each 100 you could be looking at.

It does feel better getting coins this way than a stream of little ones from a pool.

Nice. I'm on the other side of that luck. I've thrown 3.7M at it since launch and only four 5K blocks so far including the first one 3 1/2 hours ago when they started. I did get 85 of the first 300 blocks but that's not making me feel any better ;D

I'm sure your luck will pick up, I am hashing at 1/10th of you.

But it is a good thing I had those little blocks at the start considering the pool problems we had. I hope I havn't ruined icecube45's Easter, he stayed up pretty late and after work and had the pool built minus the wallet well in advance a few days ago. I only gave him the wallet code 1 hour before launch, generally that is not a problem but Quark can be tricky to get working on pools so I am not surprised there were problems.

If you follow the OP guidance, and your cpu is at 100%, you should be fine.
The current difficulty is 456, so it takes a while for you to find a block. Be patient.

Thanks icecube45, I am mining at the pool, it is accepting shares, looks to be good.

wd waldistons. To see which block, go to transactions and then copy the transaction id

go to the console and type gettransaction (paste txid)

Copy the blockhash

Then type getblock (paste blockhash) and the block number will be the height

Yeah stratum diff is set too high on the second pool, the guy there is getting plenty of blocks but he is using gpus so it is fine for him. I think go for the first pool if you are using CPUs, second pool if you are using very fast efficent GPUs.

Also if you are soloming, you can use the pools stratum to detect new blocks on the network faster. I used to do it but I forget how to now and I think it was only for cgminer.

I don't have a problem doing this because I rarely use my CPU for anything.

Eastercoin people your assistance is requested.

I am sure you will want to trade your swapped ETR on an exchange, therefore please help by getting UltimateCoin on a exchange this weekend.

https://comkort.com/vote/#ULT (https://comkort.com/vote/#ULT)

I did not want to bother you guys with this, I wanted to keep EasterCoin and UltimateCoin as separate and remote as possible, but this is really important and I need to pull in every resource I have that is available. Also please vote multiple if possible.

Thank you those who can Assist !!!

They are supposed to pick the weekly winners each Sunday, I am sure everyone does not want to wait being off an exchange for another week again.

People likely will be pulling out the dirties as well with last minute paid votes and such. Do what you can.

Something is not correct with wallet nodes. Wasted ~6h mining because wallet was not syncing (it was stuck on block but showed the green tick). Restarted wallet and everything is ok now, just got my 7th block. :)

FYI internet and computer was ok, as I was using it all the time.

Title: Re: [ANN][EASTERCOIN](ETR) A COIN 4 EASTER

Yeah you will find most Windows wallets will do that from time to time, they get stuck on a block and just don't move. Need to restart it and they show everyone still connected to them too, it is annoying.

Never happened with Linux wallets thou.

Something similar happened to Mikellev, he lost some hours mining a bunch of orphans.

Thanks for clarification @CoinExpert. I have a favour to ask You, as I didn't notice this info anywhere or just missed it (I have read the whole thread) - can You please point out block rewards please? if possible, like this:

Code:
Blocks 1 - 500:        1 ETR
Blocks 500 - 1000:   5000 ETR
blocks 1000 - X:      0 ETR

Thanks in advance!

roberts1386, the ETR will not be on an exchange, but I am offering to exchange the ETR for you thou.

waldistons

Code:
if(nHeight <= 300) {
                nSubsidy = 1 * COIN; // first 300 blocks 1 ETR
        } else if(nHeight <= 4620) {
                nSubsidy = 5000 * COIN;
        } else if(nHeight > 4621) {
                nSubsidy = 0 * COIN;
        }

    return nSubsidy + nFees;

That's the code

Blocks 1 - 300 = 1 ETR
Blocks 301 - 4620 = 5000 ETR
Blocks 4621 onwards is nothing.

Still plenty to get, but past half way mark now thou.

EDIT: I added the pool IP's as nodes and now wallet seems to stay synced all the time. I did restart my PC however, so I'm not sure nodes was the reason. Here are my nodes if anyone interested:

Code:
 addnode=108.166.183.149
 addnode=184.22.109.226

When I added the extra 300 blocks at the start forgot they are making us go over time :o

Shit happens, don't worry. I have seen worst launches :D Anyway, in my time zone mining ends almost exactly tomorrow at midnight :D

EDIT: Found bug on wallet: when You close main window with debug window open, wallet crashes. I imagine windows forms GUI programming with c++, it's pain in the arse... :D I'm not familiar with qt framework though...

EDIT2: ETR is no more listed in https://comkort.com/vote/#ULT !!! (yes, I've been voting a lot :) )

Yeah the Wallet isn't going to be around for much longer anyway.

Thanks a lot for voting !!!

Congratz @CoinExpert!

Code:
NEW COINS AND DUCKDUCKCOIN
on 20.04.2014 0 comments
New coins will be added in next 24 hours.

The list of coins:

BCN Bytecoin
RAP Rap-eCoin
ULT UltimateCoin
PCC Polishcoin
ENC EntropyCoin
EUC Eurocoin
DUCKDUCKCOIN

Due to problems with user wallets and blockchain issues we disabled trading for DUCK pairs. We are waiting for new
wallet version from dev team.

So how exactly we swap ETR for ULT? :)

Hi

Do we stop mining at a particular time, or when we complete block 4620?

Title: Re: [ANN][EASTERCOIN](ETR) A COIN 4 EASTER
Post by: waldistons on April 20, 2014, 09:06:07 PM
@StinkyPete - you can continue to mine and support network mining for free after block 4620 (but looking at the code sample couple posts earlier, I assume, that You will be mining just for transmission fees)

Title: Re: [ANN][EASTERCOIN](ETR) A COIN 4 EASTER
Post by: CoinExpert on April 21, 2014, 02:59:41 AM
Yeah you can do whatever you want, you don't have to stop mining but I don't know why you would want to keep going. Yes stop mining the last reward block, it is not a set time.

Title: Re: [ANN][EASTERCOIN](ETR) A COIN 4 EASTER

Someone msg me they would like ETR to continue, they said they would like it to perhaps become a PoS coin after the end of the block rewards.

If someone else wants to take the project over, they are welcome. I would still like people to get their ULT so what is possible is hard fork it after the reward blocks. That way people can swap the ETR with ULT and still have their ETR on the new fork.

would be nice, that would give some future to the coin.
Also why not making it an easter coin, which becomes minable at each easter ? (pos the rest of the time)

Well for continuing EasterCoin I was thinking of the current holders and how they would benefit. If the coin continued on another fork and people also get their ULT swap as well it would be pretty neat. But then I thought I do not want to hog Easter, next year I want to give someone else the chance to create EasterCoin and create some joy, fun & excitement in the altcoin community. I am sure someone will create an even better and fun coin 4 Easter next year.

I think we should let it go.

Easter is now pretty much over & EasterCoin 2014 is almost over too  :'(

Only 1k of blocks left to go as well.

With PoS I have never used one either so I am not very familiar with it.

After EasterCoin is finished, go to www.eastercoin.org and there will be a form to fill out, just include a UltimateCoin address and I will send you a ETR address to deposit into and that's it.

1:1 ETR to ULT ratio.

I'd say you were mining on a fork, you never really had them.

Sorry to hear that, but there is not much I can do.

Congratulations everyone !!!
EasterCoin 2014 is now over.

You may have to wait up to 120 more blocks to withdrawl ETR from any pools on the EasterCoin Network.

Please visit www.ultimatebank.org for information of what to do next.

Thank you everyone for helping make EasterCoin 2014 the wonderful success that it was.

Damnd, that was fun to mine. Steady blocks, nice payout, mined solo all the time with 5mh/s only. 1,4 million coins in the wallet.

Thank you, nice marketing idea. I hope your transfer to ULT will be fast and smooth.

Mike

I keep the mini rig online until all 120 coming blocks are solved to speed up the network a bit

I still dont understand your concept behind ULT now. But hey, I will find out soon.

Only thing I dont get, why dont you make it Quark Algo like EasterCoin ? It was so nice to mine and with the upcoming Scrypt Asics (I just bought 3 Titans...) your ULT coin is no difference to other scrypt ones. Well maybe we should discuss this via PM or in ULT thread ;)

Title: Re: [ANN][EASTERCOIN](ETR) A COIN 4 EASTER

I like Scrypt and there are advantages to it such as compatibility with services. I am unsure why people are worried about Scrypt ASIC's, I don't see anything wrong with them. All coins are unique and the choice is up to personal preference.

Post a question in the ULT ANN thread or on our forum.

Title: Re: [ANN][EASTERCOIN](ETR) A COIN 4 EASTER

Try splitting it into two transactions. Or if you can send two transactions to yourself and then send it as one to me.

870000 ETR would be 174 mined addresses the wallet has to gather up to send and the kbyte size too large to accept.

Also, ComKort exchange tells that it's added ULT to markets, but I don't see them and also I don't have ULT deposit address there.

EDIT: Just received my ULT, sweet. Didn't expected it to go so fast :) Now to backup ETR wallet just in case :)

There is still outstanding ULT, make sure you convert before 5th May or you may not be entitled from then onward to exchange.

Also the pool operators have cashed out, if you have left anything in those, it is now gone.

anyone still running the easter wallet? I am only having 1 active connection which makes it kind of difficult to deposit my Eastercoin into the deposit address I've received.

I've started my GPU miner once again, hoping to get the blocks broadcast containing my transactions.

It should be fine to send with one active connection.

If you have others hashing, it could cause forks.

A currency with more services and infrastructure will make it's value go up.

Here is a preview.

Make sure you have got your ULT from EasterCoin, there is not much time left to convert. It would be unfortunate if people missed out on this opportunity when they are eligible. Cut off time is 5th of May
