Yet another reason to use bitcoin.  Perhaps we could help spread the word in that comment thread?

i read about this the other day. A couple days ago i read another article about wedding dresses being spray painted red because the dress company was going out of business and 'didn't want the designs to be stolen.... but then again sparypaint doesn't really destroy the design. And oh another article i read a few weeks ago about walmart and some other company (can't remember name) slashed up clothes that they didn't have space for- clearance stuff. It's pathetic as hell that this kind of stuff goes on, and does on a regular basis- you just don't hear much about it. When I was 16 with my first job i had to throw away an entire garbage bag full of donuts/bagels every night, something I'll never do again even if it means my job- now if I was asked by a manager to purposefully destroy perfectly good things because of ignorance like this they'd eventually get the finger and have to fire me

North Americans throw away 40% of the food they buy.  This stuff happens all the time.
