Title: [WTS] Medtronic Insulin Pump
Post by: shakaru on January 10, 2012, 10:24:24 AM
Heres the deal. Times are tough. I have issues that have forced me to be no longer able to afford the insulin needed to run this pump (Humulog) and ontop of that, I can barley afford the injectable type without insurance. So.....

I have one Medtronic (formerly Minimed) 5xx series insulin pump. This is not to be used without strict physican supervision and I will require a physicans letter stating that they aprove insulin pump therooy before sale. I know that will limit my audiance but I only will sell it to someone who needs it and cant abuse it. That is also why I will give 3-5months of infusions sets, dressings and resivors to go with the unit. Basically everything I have.

This thing let me live like a normal person for a majority of my life, and if I cant use it, I am even willing to give it to someone who can enjoy the life that it can bring. Let me know. Any offers welcomed.

Dude what

Exactly what it says. These things are costly with RX coverage and I cannot afford the insulin needed to use the thing. If someone else needs it to help them out, Ill hand it over.

What are the costs for the humulog like?

My diabetes doctor told me I'm an excellent candidate for a pump, but insurance wouldn't cover the cost until I demonstrated I could keep my condition well controlled, and in the timeframe that took my insurance expired.

I run, walk, bike often and carrying everything needed to do injections on me all the time is a PITA.

I'm very interested.

The problem with the pump is that you need to use humulog insulin as its almost instant. With insurance, its a normal rx copay, but without insurance, its about $115 per ml vial. Each res holds 3mls and last bout a week.

So without insurance, you would pretty much end up in the same boat i am. Especially that the infushion sets are also convered my insurance and not cheap without it either.

Its so sad that Insulin is so highly regulated in the US. It is the reason why it's also very expensive in the US. Double or triple the cost it is in other countries. So sad. :(
