Title: CryptoKK kicks the bucket... Another dead exchange Post by: Jonesd on April 22, 2014, 07:51:59 AM CryptoKK (http://www.cryptokk.com/ (http://www.cryptokk.com/)) just released this statement on their site:
Quote Yesturday one of our server got attacked by the rootkit Azazel (http://blackhatlibrary.net/Azazel). This happened straight away after installing some new coins. The malware was into a daemon, compiled from the github sources. The hacker started to withdraw funds on this servers. Not a lot maybe, but enought to make us unable to pay the 4 other servers this month, because we should refund the customers. I was alone on this project, all was doing well. I never received a complain message for any issue.. Pro in security... I can't believe an open-source soft got me. Nice done. Had the night to decide what to do. Spent heavy time on this, was hoping to continue for a while. I'm leaving with all your coins. It's even not enought to refund myself. I lost time and money. Cryptokk wasn't just about money, did it by passion, wanted to use my skills to help and provide great services. I can't take the risk to continue and make the things worst IRL. I'm very sorry. Title: Re: CryptoKK kicks the bucket... Another dead exchange Post by: Relnarien on April 22, 2014, 11:32:18 AM Note how he didn't even say which wallet infected his system with the supposed rootkit. Even if he was telling the truth, which I highly doubt at this point in time, he is still undeniably reprehensible for not sharing information regarding a malware-infected wallet with the general public.

Another dead exchange Post by: cobra89y on April 22, 2014, 11:56:44 AM That's the funniest thing I have seen.... An honest crook? Track the value of any of the coins you lost so you can take him to court for admitting he stole your currency/property or whatever they call it where you are from.

A crook that beliefs it is logical, because he lost some money. :S Also it's obvious he is French and the Whois info is quite detailed. Title: Re: CryptoKK kicks the bucket... I Agree, my opinion is, the community you create is your own responsability, if it fail, you fail, so, the thief in question in this case is the cryptokk owner. People can choose to work to repair things, can choose to learn from mistakes... this isn't the case, and if cryptokk don't come online again, the only responsability for the loses is the owner and no one else. Besides I think it's an excuse. This was a scam, otherwise they would've named the coin. |
