Title: I don't get it, which scrypt ASIC can you buy right now?
Post by: kskwerl on May 01, 2014, 09:16:39 AM
Which is the best one that will ship immediately, as in today. Everyone says Zeus Miner this, A2 Terminator that. But when are these actually shipping and do any of them use Escrow/Paypal instead of pre-orders or bank wire transfer?

Who here actually has any of these in their hands on this forum and is hashing with them?

Gridseed Blade - 5 / 6 Mh/s for $1500 - $1600 - check Minereu and Gawminer.

HASHRA will announce their miner and will start shipping soon.

what does Hashra have coming out?

They are going to release their own product instead of reselling Gridseed miners... Check their website www.hashra.com at 2pm (GMT) -- Not sure about the spec but I am hoping for a powerful but affordable miner

it will take 4.5 months to break even - but the cash flow is a helluva lot better than letting the money sit in a mutual fund.

re: New Hashra units coming out June 12 : I'm looking at their site now.

I'm a little impressed but not super impressed.

I have two Mining Asic Units on order which will give me 250 Mh/s and I expect them by the 2nd week in august. I'm in the first batch and I spent about $11k

so let's divide Cost/Mhs

Mining Asics : $11,000/250 : $44/Mhs

Now I look at these units and their top of the line is $15000 for 90+ MH - let's assume it's 100 MHs for arguments sake - : $15,000/100 : $150/mh

I'll wait the extra 8 weeks for such a huge advantage

Now - let's look at the Gridseed Blades VS their Lunar Lander Warp 2 @ 15 MHs

Blades 6 X $1,400 to get 30 MHs = $8,400 : 8400/30 = $280/Mhs
Lunar Lander Warp 2 : $5,350 : 5350/30 : $178/Mhs

Their Lunar Lander Warp 2 is a good deal and their Lander 1 is a good deal compared to Blades

so for what's available today - their Lander 1 & 2 are good deal - their higher end units are not worth the money when you could wait an extra 6 to 8 weeks and get three times the hashing power for the same money.

I've been in touch with Marc at Mining Asics and the beginning of August is realistic for their first batch of units.

But I think it's cool they've upped the ante - because it's good for all of us who mine scrypt coins and want the best bang for their buck.

correct and I do reference that fact if you look at the difference in weeks I have quoted for delivery.

but to be sure - this announcement basically kills all Gridseed Blade sales - who in their right mind would spend the money now. I'd wait the 5 weeks for one of these. In fact I'm going to order one today.

Is hashra a reputable company? Will they actually ship on the 10th

they are a very reputable company and have delivered hundreds if not thousands of Gridseeds - I have purchased from them.

they're offering full refund if they're not able to deliver in 5 weeks (I think they say June 10th) - so it appears as though they're confident they'll deliver.

even if they're late I'm sure they'll quickly find buyers on units for anyone who wants a refund. they're 15 mh and 30 mhs units are great deals

all true - but at least they have a reputation to bank on....

3k for 18 KH plus free cloud is pretty nice though.

Which is the best one that will ship immediately, as in today.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=578875.msg6491085#msg6491085 is taking delivery of Innosilicon units over the next few days. They work out per Mh very slightly cheaper than Zeus too.

Not exactly shipping *today* to customers, but as close as you'll get at this time.

is there thread someone online where people who have placed orders are talking about this? I'd like to follow it.

there's also no explanation on their website of how long you get the extra 80% from their hosting service.

it's a toss up for me...

I have faith in hashra at this point and they're offering a 10% discount right now which brings the price per mh to $166 for their 15mhs unit and the zeusminer also turns out to be $166/mhs. They've been in business a while and are offering a full refund is they don't meet their delivery date - zeusminer on the other hand says they're ahead of schedule but dance around the delivery date if you read their progress report.

in any event - information at this point is good information. - thanks

I've negotiated with that guy in the past - he's screwed a few people in the past but it appears as though someone else is involved in that deal also who may be a little more legitimate.

if you check that guys history on the forum pcfli you'll find it's fairly tarnished.... people not getting equipment they paid for - although I have no doubt the machine their talking about is real. It's seem pretty 'cobbled' from what I could see in the video and it's priced awefully high when uou compare it with Mining Asics Units which granted ar two months away from you get 3 times the hashing power for the same price.

their 90 mhs unit is : $133 per mhs

Maining Asics : $48 per mhs

I think i'll wait

Until someone comes out with a unit that's under $50/mhs for the smaller miners who can't afford the $8K, $10k or $12k unit we are stuck with having to pay about $150/Mhs and no one has an answer yet.

I can see from the thread they you're spending money - but it appears as though you're going through the other guy Mr. Li - so that's good. My recommendation is that your squeeze pcfli for every penny because he will negotiate and negotiate BIG TIME - he's got a lot of room in his pricing. I know that from experience. Squeeze all these guys - their markup is HUGE!!!

make a rediculously low offer and see what happens - the worst that can happen is that you get turned down, but at least it's a starting point for negotiations.

best of luck to you

ps: if you need a contact in china that can deal direct with the factory that builds these things I have one there. I had an intern from U of P Wharton School working for me a few years ago and he lives in China and told me that he'd be happy to contact any of the factories that build these things are get the bottom line price. I'll connect you with him on Facebook if you're interested - just PM me - I want to make sure my forum brethren are not being taken advantage of.

Thanks, I'll take that into consideration.

Without wanting to steer this thread too off-topic, I'd have to say that the question is not necessarily about who is going to deliver first, but what is going to be the response of these smaller Chinese vendors to the eventual release of Zeus, Alpha, Fib, KnC and any others that might be delivering in the next few months.

Those companies tend to have a more 'Western' client base because their marketing image is more developed and, therefore, their customers feel a little more comfortable dealing with them than the less-than-well-known Chinese vendors.

The Innosilicon devices are 28nm, they've done a pretty impressive job in bringing that to market so soon. The price of their devices can only go down over time, if they get a good reputation for reliability we may see people dropping their pre-orders from the other companies as the comfort-level with the Chinese distributors increases.

oh - the Chinese will never be left behind in the dust - they'll drop their prices and be competitive - no doubt - hey - competition is good for all of us.

I absolutely agree and I am sure the guys at KNC Miner and Mining Asics have taken notice.

what gives me a lot of satisfaction is NOW I really know what a unit that can hash this high CAN ACTUALLY BE BUILT! I am sure you feel the same way!

But I think it's cool they've upped the ante - because it's good for all of us who mine scrypt coins and want the best bang for their buck.

Whats wrong with you people? Don't you realize when 100,000Mh/s hits the alt pools it will cause the price of all the alts to crash?

I bet 99% of the alts Fork to SCRYPT-N just to keep from getting destroyed.
+1 agree
asic scrypt will make ALT price crash
too much asic monster will destroy alt  :-[
need Fork to SCRYPT-N ASAP

and by the way - we don't need asic to crash the prices - look at Vertcoin and the X11 coins - no one is interested. The prices are in the dumps

here's a fact - GPU mining will become a thing for the nerds - this market is going more and more to people with hashing power - it's plain and simple. There's a train coming down the tracks you can either climb on board or get out of the way to avoid being run over....and trust me - I feel your pain - I have three GPU mining rigs, but I embrace change not fight with algo's and I have multiple asic miners and it's a lot less stressful mining with asics and I can focus on managing my coins and not babysitting rigs.

and my electric bills are less also!

there are over 20,000 gridseeds running and they havn't crashed alt prices....

the sky is falling...

hashra units are very similar permance wise to what inosilicon resellers are selling here in the forums and are more expensive

so probably based on innosillicon too edit - its zeus hardware and will be outdated by the time they ship

i think ill pass and wait for price/mhs to drop to knc level and see if its still worth it

the original question asked, never really got answered

does anyone have these in hand now, working,

if so which

i find it hard to believe these units were developed

the cost of asic development is very very high

the price of scrypt 1024 coins is no where near enough to really trigger the market,

i guess it is not imossible

seems crazy

well - I have gridseed blades and I think I'm going to order a 30mhs hasra unit on monday - they're offering a nice discount and it will double my hashing power.

the only one thats currently available is gridseed 5.2mhs blade or 0.3mhs heatsink

it works fine but is overpriced and wont pay off

everything else you can see is just hype

nothing else except gridseed has been shipped and tested yet

Seriously, don't buy scrypt ASIC even if you can buy it right now. You won't recover your cost before the massive difficulty hike.....

Difficulty hike on which coins? With at least 5 new coins every day how is difficulty an issue?

Gawminers just announced some ASIC Scrypt miners with or without hosting option:

Fury 1Mh/s

199 $

Black Widow 13Mh/s

2.099 $

The Flacon 27Mh/s

3.500 $

The War Maschine 54 MH/S

6.800 $

With Hosting it could be a good deal. I just have 2 Blades hosted from them and everything works fine. The miners go online 02 June or shipped.

I have two A2 terminator-90 in my room right now and have tested for 48 hours,  i will give some comments on this miner
1) the hash rate:
it is true that it can perform a 86 M H/s even on the pool, but there is still some annoying problem.
    1) sometimes, one or two blade of 6 blades will only perform half of its expected hash rate and you need re-start the miner to get it back
    2) one of the two miners now can only perfrom 30M hash rate, and i have confirmed it is the sd card cause the problem
2) power usage
that is do doubt that it only need 900W with 6 blade and 90M hash rate
3) temperature
compared with A1 chip based 1T dragon miner, the temperature of this miner is very low, only a little warm on the surface when the room temperature is about 25 degree. it is very like the first version of A1 chip based 1T bitcoin miner.

4) shipment issue
all of the two miners cannot work after shipping from shenzhen to nantong, and i finally figure out that one miner has the same issue of loosing cable, but another was repaired after replacing the raspberry pi.

Suggestion:
As i know, this A2 terminator will put into market within 10 days, but you would better find a good supplier who can provide quick supply when you have problem, otherwise you will lose a lot if you cannot get it online as soon as your receive it, the most profit day is the first week you get it online, after that, you will see the difficult go skyrocket.

Welp. right now happens to finally be right now.

I would like to point out that the hosting rates being quoted by Zeus for units to be shipped to GAWMiner (when they actually start shipping, of course) are extremely high. Terry has quoted $5 per megahash per month, which is a large chunk of change considering these scrypt units consume significantly less electricity than Bitcoin miners.

Pcfli has three units hosted for me at $225 each per month, which is less than half of what is being charged by Zeus and GAW.

it should also be mentioned here tha  Hashra has lowered their prices substantially, I will post them a little later.

By the way - If you can't decide on how to spend your money I will be leasing miners soon in a hosted facility.

You can outright lease or lease to own miners will comes in 15 MHs increments up to an unlimited hash rates.

or you can purchase with my hosting.

all miners will be located on a private network behind a Juniper firewall and double password protected with 'natting' in effect for security.

15mhs should always get you between $35 & $45 USD/day and if you can leave it alone and not constantly switch coins you'll get revenue 24x7x365

The data center is near Newark Delaware.

:)

price is nuts....

I'll wait another 10 weeks and get my 250 MHS units from mining asics for the same price.

even with increases in difficulty it's worth waiting and there's no real money in ltc and doge which I don't mine anyway - I strictly mine new releases where I can make better money.

but for someone who doesn't mind spending a lot today for something that will be functionally archaic on 10 to 12 weeks I'm sure it's reasonably priced.

I think the guys are lightninhg asics are selling the same box for $1k less - I've been getting one up and running remotely for a guy in germany today
