Title: 2014: the Tv show 'the goodwife' featuring bitcoin again.
Post by: franky1 on May 06, 2014, 10:52:16 PM
TV show the goodwife featured bitcoin a couple years ago, now they featured it again series 5 episode 20. this time getting more closer to actual details, such as silk road, mtgox closing..

yet they have got a few minor details wrong (well maybe)

"until mtgox was bankrupted(the bitcoin exchange), then law enforcement was suddenly allowed access to the servers and now we can trace bitcoins to his computer"

im just wondering.. is it plausible that authorities do have all the details of mtgo traders EG their ID, usernames.. and are now linking deposits into mtgox, with withdrawals from known silk road addresses.. if so some of you people better beware who is knocking at your doors lol

also, they know of MTGox bankruptcy, which means the TV episode must have been recorded around december 2013. yet they "want to get the top dog at silk road" i guess they missed out DPR news from last summer.

well anyway away from the joke and back to the TV episode, atleast its more publicity to bitcoin either way.

Mt Gox didn't bankrupt until February and there is Silk Road 2 in existence.

They actually mention Mt. Gox by name in the episode?

It is plausible I think. But just like any illegal activity they don't necessarily care about the minnows, mostly the big fish. That's not saying your name won't go down in some undisclosed file though. I mean hell...NSA. Come on :p

This is going to be my second The Good Wife episode, liked the first one, though.

"Bit Currency" mentioned in latest Continuum episode, still around in 2077. :)

I thought SR2 stole everyone's coins and shut down.

im not sure what version it is.. but just going by public news that most media only talks about i was thinking 'the good wife' was talking about version 1.. and as for gox, they officially announced bankruptcy recently, but we all know they had money issues and making excuses all the way back in december.

but anyway no publicity is bad publicity. atleast it gets people talking about bitcoin more.

Wait till they produce the third episode centered around Brock Pierce and his gang of thieves wanting to control the whole shit and kaboodle.

Federal agencies have a habit and record of milking a source for a long time, so you can basically start drawing your own conclusions after you read this for some background:

http://chrispacia.wordpress.com/2014/02/28/this-is-what-most-likely-happened-to-mtgox/

I personally suspect that the government does not yet have an automated blockchain analysis tool, so they might start knocking soon!

Do you think the writers will take such a step?

IMO, such reference is a good and free PR for Bitcoin especially after the huge number of stories about drugs and btc.

My wife doesn't know what bitcoin is but watches the show. Maybe she'll figure it out eventually?  Haha
