Title: [SALES BOUNTY] ThinkGeek.com Email Campaign
Post by: SgtSpike on January 16, 2012, 09:58:54 PM
ThinkGeek has a "Bug Us" page, so let's bug 'em.   ;)

http://www.thinkgeek.com/bug-us/

This is a Sales Bounty, meaning if ThinkGeek begins accepting Bitcoins as a payment method, your bounty would be your promise to spend $XXX worth of Bitcoins on their products.

This is also an email campaign, meaning that EVERYONE who supports Bitcoins should email one of the email addresses at that website link, even if you don't want to promise a specific bounty.  It sounds like they have an email address set up specifically for suggestions, but it wouldn't hurt if a few emails popped through the other channels as well (more general company awareness), so I'll leave it up to you which email address you want to bug.

If you email, and are willing to promise to spend a certain amount, please mention that in your email!  Note it in terms of USD, rather than Bitcoin, since they'll be more familiar with the value of USD.  If you're willing to spend 10 BTC, then just say you'll spend $70 worth of Bitcoins at their store.  Don't lie, that just makes us look bad.  If you pledge to spend a certain amount, then count on spending that amount.  Don't back out of a promise.

DO NOT post your email contents here on this forum!  I don't want everyone to be sending canned emails or copying from each other.  We want this to be as genuine a request as possible, so each person should come up with their own written request for acceptance of Bitcoin as payment.

I don't know what ThinkGeek's sales average on a daily basis, but I would imagine it's up in the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, at least.  We need to make it known that them accepting Bitcoins will make a difference in their bottom line.  So we need some heavy hitters to step up to the plate and pledge to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, if possible.

With that said, I'm going to go ahead and email them and pledge to spend at least $20 worth of Bitcoins if they start accepting them.  It's not much, but I'm poor, what can I say?  :)
