Title: looking to buy an ssd
Post by: yunk3r on April 17, 2011, 06:58:02 PM
i want to buy a 2.5 inch ssd. I want one with a good controller no j micron. preferably 40 gb or more. i want one without 25nm flash because it hurts performance.  pm if you have one to sell.

i have been asked to be more specific so here it goes.  one feature i forgot to mention i would need is an ssd that supports trim. Also i will make the controller selection more specific.  I would like an ssd with any of the following:  intel g1 or g2, sandforce, samsung PB22-j.

I have many to sell.
Can you be more specific as to what you are looking for?

I think he's being pretty concise. He's buying any 2.5" SDD >40GB with an Intel/Indilinx/Sandforce controller that doesn't utilizes 25nm NAND.

There's  a LOT of those though.  It could also be a samsung or marvel controller as well,  those are quote a bit better performance then the indilinx ones.  Seems he doesn't have any particular one in mind but about 80% would meet most if not all of those qualifications.  If he's looking for suggestions pretty much any semi modern SSD should do fine.  It would be EXTREMELY hard to tell the difference between the any of the modern ones except in synthetic benchmarks.  Only problem is there might not be a whole lot of a difference in price between an old vertex 120GB and a vertex 2 or 3 with first and second gen sandforce ones.

How about :  ADATA S599 AS599S-40GM-C 2.5" 40GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
It would be 159BTC plus shipping from me right now.

sorry but 159 plus shipping is way to much i can get it new from new egg for $105 and at the current exchange rate it would be less in bit coins. Also for $20 more i could get the 64 gb model. which once again is less in btcs.

I'm glad you noticed I was going to say something but didn't want to butt in.
