Aides type up a canned response and send it to emails after identifying the email subject. They have a canned response for almost every imaginable topic. You could enter a bunch of contradictory gibberish and you'll still get the same reply (maybe with "expressing support" for or without that line). Try it with a different subject and the reply will be in the exact same format.

Some State Congresscritters have even started doing this.

...I have also been working with California high-technology businesses to improve the bill and to address the concerns of high-tech businesses, public interest groups and others. I recognize the bill needs further changes to prevent it from imposing undue burdens on legitimate businesses and activities...

She acknowledges the bill is bad and say she will change it in line with what Google and the rest of the high tech lobbyist recommend.

That looks like a polite positive response to me.  What exactly is the problem here?

"copyright owners should be able to prevent their works from being illegally duplicated and stolen" - seems reasonable to me.  She says she believes that but that she acknowledges SOPA and PIPA were the wrong way to go about things.

I'm really not getting what your problem is.  Short of coming around your house and putting a sign up saying "This guy was right" what more can she do?

She says she believes that but that she acknowledges SOPA and PIPA were the wrong way to go about things.

And yet she was more than willing to pass them. Read the links I posted.

So? On what planet do people not have the right to admit they were wrong?

Nowhere in the email was anything like an apology, or admission of wrong. She said she voted in favor of a bill, and is working with corporations and lobbyists to "improve" the bill.
